  1. This is accurate, the translation progress is really small because it was postponed almost as soon as it was started. Koestl, the translator, was contracted by MangaGamer to translate Gahkthun, and the Kaijitsu sequels are stalled in the meantime. The Sekai Project stuff adds another wrinkle to the situation but I don't think there's anything stopping Koestl from picking those back up if SP choses not to license them.
  2. This is a really silly topic. Yeah I delete them, what use is there in keeping them around? If I want to read them again I'll reinstall them.
  3. Because it seems like he's still insisting on finishing it himself despite being saying to the contrary and trolling anyone who asks him about it.
  4. On one hand, we have a translator saying something, on the other hand we have a bunch of people sitting on the sidelines wildly speculating. Yeah, it's "not confirmed" that it isn't bullshit, just like how it's not confirmed that 2pac didn't fake his death or that nosebleed likes lolis. What if it's all a ruse? Someone hand me my tinfoil hat. It seems like someone other than Insem was working on Dracu Riot for Staircase in some capacity and then just recently somehow lost a lot of progress that they've made. At least, that's what I got out of the email insem posted to twitter a week or two ago. The project is cursed, it's never getting finished.
  5. XSeed isn't ever going to translate eroge. I wouldn't be surprised if they did some VNs eventually but nothing that's 18+.
  6. Euphoria is being localized by MangaGamer. I don't think SubaHibi's sexual content is all that worse, if at all.
  7. Motherfuckin' Tsujidou-san no Jun'ai Road. I recognize that it's most certainly not the best untranslated VN out there, but it's still probably on the top of my wishlist. Its premise is fairly unique, and by all accounts is really funny and even has decent drama. It has a high amount of slang so it's probably really tricky to translate, I doubt any fan translator will take it on. Somebody needs to strike a deal with Minato Soft and make this happen.
  8. Please read the stickies where you can find good general recommendation lists and that kind of thing. If you don't have any especially specific requests/tastes, those are the best place to start.
  9. Clock Up puts a serious amount of detail into the censored bits, so when they're decensored they don't look jarring. I'm not sure if it was like that originally or if they did that after the fact as a courtesy to MG and their western audience, I know they had a pretty good working relationship with MG.
  10. I have a feeling that No Game No Life is influencing this thread a lot. It's recent and really popular.
  11. I would not say the rewrite protagonist is particularly smart or badass. He kinda is in the true route, but that doesn't really count for certain reasons. Most of the time he's just a somewhat more proactive and witty version of a standard VN protagonist. Granted, I actually like him a lot as a protagonist, it's a VN worth reading either way.
  12. I don't like Kud or lolis in general and I like Little Busters a lot. The story just managed to strike a chord with me, dunno what else to say.
  13. I haven't played it but Tokyo Hero Project seems like it might fit: http://vndb.org/v10237
  14. I disagree but I don't feel like getting into an argument over it. I'd really like to hear your thoughts on Chaos;Head once you play that.
  15. It's not purely a matter of age, but Key's level of experience. Both their art and writing wasn't as refined. I know it's incorrect in some ways, but to me Kanon just feels like a mediocre first attempt at what they later pulled off in Clannad.
  16. They would probably be better off localizing LB and Rewrite before Kanon. Kanon is even more dated than Clannad and honestly isn't all that good. It also has some heroines that really rub me the wrong way ~uguu~
  17. Meanwhile at MangaGamer, Imouto Paradise is being sold for $45. That's a tad ridiculous.
  18. Yamato is portrayed as being a genius, but that aspect of his character isn't really written very well. Like, the game wants us to think he is and tells us he is, but from his actions and such, he doesn't seem like much of a genius. Just a somewhat smart kid. I found most of his intellectual accomplishments somewhat lackluster. I'm aware that by criticizing any aspect of Majikoi, I'm automatically put on a hitlist by certain fuwa users and will be targeted for assassination, so let me just put the disclaimer that I think it's a good and funny game and please god don't kill me.
  19. Utawarerumono fits the bill http://vndb.org/v3 The protagonist is very intelligent and has some moments where he's a badass. But he's also not infallible.
  20. They're also doing World's End Economica, which has no english translation aside from the first chapter. And as said, even if they use the existing Clannad translation as a base, that is in no way the "easy road." It would probably be easier just to start fresh than to try to polish that turd into a diamond.
  21. 1) Doki is working with Sekai, Sekai isn't doing this on their own 2) Doki hasn't even had a first chance yet, the shitty translation that's out now isn't Doki's, but a TLWiki work. I'm still going to be very skeptical since they're supposedly TLCing and editing that instead of starting from scratch, but what you see now isn't Doki's work.
  22. Prepare your face for the palming of its lifetime: <0044> \{HR Teacher} "Until then, feel free to do whatever you'd like. The students who forgot to take the exams should bring a feather."* // do they bring feathers to exams? for ink or something? // It certainly says feather, but it doesn't seem like calligraphy to me. The feather might be the evidence that denotes a retake, but that's a wild guess. -Amoirsp // I tried looking up various uses for a feather. The only one remotely close is the writing use for it. Must be cultural or conditional. So Tomoya ... never missed any. -Amoirsp // \{担任}「それまでは各自自由。今日一日は受験のことを忘れて羽根をのばしなさい」 "Kind of rough" was maybe an understatement. Perfectly logical conclusion there, Amoirsp. The game deserves better than that. That is not good enough for any kind of release, let alone to charge money for. Obviously they are going to continue to work on it, but if they actually want it to be good, they can't use that as a base.
  23. Welp, Doki are saying that they'll be working with Sekai Project on this. Doki is the group currently "polishing" the existing translation. No matter how good they are at that, that original translation was really bad. They'd need to start from scratch in order to instill confidence. Hopefully this won't be a total disaster.
  24. There's an unfinished fan translation for it but that's it. The patch translated everything but didn't get complete editing or TLC passes and is kind of rough. It's possible that they could use it as a base but maybe they'll try to do the whole thing from scratch, which might be better in the long run. That will take a long time to do.
