  1. Not exactly VN/manga/anime/etc related, but it is (originally) from Japan! It's a tenugui of Bushu Tamagawa from Katsushika Hokusai's Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. For size reference, it's a meter long.
  2. I thought this was pretty tragic. Grisaia no Kajitsu
  3. Here are my top picks: Nodame Cantabile: A nice show about people in the music world (classical). If you really don't like classical music (common practice period) I probably wouldn't watch this show. However, if you don't mind, the show is really amazing. Golden Time: People in university doing semi-realistic things. I think this might be one of the better romances I've watched, although I watched it quite a long time ago. Nagi no Asukara: A pretty stereotypical high school romance show, although there are some fantasy elements and things like that. I would say that it's definitely above average though. Gets rather dramatic at times. Some of the fantasy elements makes for some really dramatic scenes and storylines. Sukitte Ii na yo: Another pretty good high school romance show. A outgoing guy meets a shy girl. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head, if you need anymore I can probably find some.
  4. False, I live my life with no regrets. Really. Next person likes reading.
  5. I played Cross+Channel on and off for a while and didn't realize it was a loop for the longest time. I thought "hey this seems awfully familiar!" RIP me.
  6. False, I was already traumatized. Next person is sad.
  7. You've probably already read it, but if you haven't, Wataru Watari has another novel that's translated Kuzu to Kinka no Qualidea. Also this might just be me, but Sayonara Piano Sonata gave me a somewhat similar feeling while reading it. For the anime side of things, I would recommend Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo and Kokoro Connect. If you've already read/watched all of these I can look for more. This is just what comes to my mind at this moment.
  8. True, I get ready to sleep, and then end up don't because I become so engrossed in something else. Next person is happy.
  9. False, not a mod. Next person should be sleeping now, but isn't unfortunately.
  10. I just finished reading Miaki Sugaru's "Where You Called From" and "Where I called From" ("Were You Called From" is volume 1). I actually had a ton of stuff I was supposed to do, but I ended up reading both novels in one day. I would have to say it's a good read and you should check it out if you have the time. The two novels aren't terribly long (about average length I suppose) and only took me a few hours to read. The storyline (I'll try to stay away from spoilers) is somewhat based off of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid" and the Japanese tail of "Yao Bikuni" both of which the novel makes numerous mentions towards. The story is set in a seaside town and revolves around a person who has a very terrible looking birthmark on their face as described by the novel. (minor spoilers) I would classify the novels mainly under the genres of romance and drama with some supernatural/mystery. There's not too much slice of life or just school life scenes as the plot moves somewhat fast. The plot is pretty good and was exciting all the way to the end. This is helped by the fact that most of the characters are well written and mostly act like humans rather than plot robots. There were a few contrived moments, but the plot overall is kind of supernatural so I guess most can be looked over if I don't think about it too much. I don't think that the plot was terribly predictable, although at times I could tell what would happen next. There also is a healthy amount of foreshadowing, but I don't think that it makes the plot overly predictable. I never felt like the story was ever moving too slowly which was nice since a few other longer series have issues with pacing, but I guess with just two short novels there's not really much room for a real story and filler at the same time. A lot of very interesting themes are explored within the novel and make it a very deep novel depending on the circumstances of the reader. The ending is interesting I suppose. There were a lot of ways for this to end in my opinion and the way it ended is fine. Although there is room for criticism for the ending (and this type of ending that the novel has in general), I think that it was actually interesting and fit the mood of the novel. I can't really be too much more specific than that without spoiling too much. If you're worried about there being no concrete ending, don't worry anymore. The conclusion is rather clear. I guess there is room for a sequel although I highly doubt that there will be. I only say that to mean that the author leaves a few minor plot lines open, but the main plot line definitely does conclude. Overall it is definitely a worthwhile read and has some interesting concepts in it. Recently I've been reading too much random slice of life, comedy, harem, ecchi stuff (High School DxD, Masou Gakuen HxH, C^3, etc) and this was a very nice breather from that.
  11. False, I have a few (gameboy advance, gamecube, wii, ps3, I think that's it). Next person prefers console to PC (or mac).
  12. Not sure if this is exactly a craft, but Chihayafuru centers around an old card game called karuta. The show might seem more like a sports show, so it might not be exactly what you're looking for though. The sound track is nice too.
  13. True, I've been busy and my laptop charger broke so I couldn't play even if I had time anyways. Next person has played way too many VNs recently.
  14. 10/10 would try to hit with baseball bat again.
  15. Psychopass was so good! At first I also thought Akane was going to make the show pretty bad, but it turned out nicely. The OP and ED are also pretty good throughout. I'm interested to see what you think of the ending.
  16. I think that the "you just don't get it" argument comes up especially because enjoying things is so subjective to our own personal tastes. I think it's valid to say that some people don't get it mainly because XYZ genre isn't their cup of tea. I've had arguments on things that I like which most other people agree are absolutely terrible. I understand their point of view but I still enjoy said thing regardless and I think it's just a matter of personal taste or some sort of connection with whatever you're arguing for. It just comes down to the fact that we all have different tastes and that we'll always be salty because those with bad taste will never "get it."
  17. Looks nice, I'm happy that there are more and more OEVNs coming up. The art looks really nice. The subject matter is very personal and I'm excited to see how it turns out if the Greenlight works out for you. Best of luck!
  18. You might've already seen some of these as they're pretty popular - Gurren Lagan: an interesting show about ridiculous mechs. Code Geass: another interesting show about a crazy protagonist antihero. Evangelion: there are mechas, but then the story goes elsewhere.
  19. True, I think with all of my save files collected and measured they'll probably reach a gigabyte. Next person uses microsoft word.
