Sorry in advance for my language. We're not against swearing here, are we? I always was attached to little items, and was giving a great value to things I probably should not. But I can't help it, I am what I am. And that's why I absolutly fuckin' HATE some scenes in VNs. Basically - Property damage. Usually for comedic purposes. Examples: * G Senjo No Mau, 'common' part. Protagonist is a great fan of Bach, and new compilation of his music just came out. He adores his collection of Bach music CDs, so he even bought two examples of this newest album. One for listening, second for 'never opening on shelf good looking' purpose. And that BITCH Kanon just ripped newly bought case apart, so forcefully, that CD dropped on pavement and got scratches. "Ohohoho, so funny, portag is now angry, but why is angry, nothing serious happened though, ohohohoho." For fucks sake, I was pissed. I wanted to put my hands through my monitor and strangle her then and there. If something like that would happened to me I would probably did something like that (I have some minor anger issues). * Hoshizora No Memoria. Chinami, in her first scene, stepped on glass doors to her closet, while they were laying on the floor, before installation. Okay, fine, she did it to herself, she's dumb. But right after that she did the same thing to protags glass doors. And it was not fine anymore. And this fucker, instead of unleashing his rage and spank her till her ass was nothing but a bloodmessed pulp, he said he will just buy a new ones. ARGH. Also TsunTwin damaged a lot of photographic aparates. But only when guys where taking somewhat indecent pictures of her with them, so I'm kinda alright with that. * Imouto Paradise I'm strugling to finish this title, I'm reading it for like 2 months now (I did both Kara No Shoujos in around a week), and it's really tiring. But I don't want to drop any more titles, so I will endure. And I stepped across that scene: Protag was just deadly tired, and fell asleep during playing some RPG on his handheld. Then his lively, mischevious loli imouto came to wake him up, cause watermelon to eat, but seeing that he is sound asleep, she decied to ride on his penis. Okay, fine, that's rather typical trope. But. Right after all this, this little piece of shit stepped on his handheld, totally breaking it. So he got little (or 'very much', as for typical empty protag goes) angry and shouted to her 'what have you done', etc. Also mouring his data loss and progress in the game. And she responded, laughing that nothing happened, and, I qoute, "as long as we're alive, things like that will happen. So don't worry, tomorrow will be a better day.". WRARRGH. No apologising, no nothing, just laugh. She was a rather fine character, I kinda liked her (around 5-6 out of 10 points, where 10 is Yashiro Kasumi form Muv Luv, and 1 is Rika Makiba/Chinami [other heroines in imouto was on 4-7 spectrum]), but after this scene I got so anraged that I took her off 3 points. I can't stand her face and voice right now, and that means I will not finish this horryfying VN tonight. Goddamn. Also in Imouto is another sister, which came to protags room, stole his every porn oriented thing and just sold it. Because reasons. And he is only kinda 'sad' about it. Nothing else. So, yeah. That's all, thanks for reading, I just needed to spill my rage/share my pain.

What a perfect thread. All your answers made me think about my strange 'likings' that came from VNs...and I don't like how many of them there is.

Isn't that... common? I'm doing that right from the beginning, best way to experience VN. But, no every time, like in...: Sometimes very much. I wait for voices to end their lines in 'big emotional scenes', or any kind of 'big endings', to savour them more, longer. (also I sometimes mute the h-scenes, even if I read them, or just simply read them in backlog, cause I hate those creepy high pitched, overloud moans :P) Not if you're 'fast reader' and just assimiliate the contents, withoud reading every word out loud in your head. But I don't know Japanesse (well, I'm 'catching' the most common words right now), so I just get the 'feeling' of voice, without it's content.

Wait, VN with actuall villain? I was just wondering yesterday about existence of that at all... Okey, that persuade me. After Cyber Slayer I'm gonna put ef back on shelf, and read this with you all.

E17 has a much better votes on vndb too. There is not that many VNs with most popular grade '10'. Thanks for all the answers, few new entries added, and Swan Song and R11 are now 'high' on my wishlsit.

Stilll building my backlog, 50+ is not enough. I'm looking for strong children characters. Something like Suzuha in Hoshizora No Memoria, or even protags' sister in Yume Miru Kursui. It simply has too be a good written enjoyable character. Preferable with large presence, but not 'romantically' involved. But if this cannot be obtained then I will endure the h-scenes on ctrl-skip and just enjoy the rest. (like Mare in Hoshizora) Somehow I loved one CG in Kara No Shoujo 2 with and just a moment ago I saw this screen from Aster: And it somehow 'clicked' with me. I really like children (when they're not crying and screaming and pissing themselves all the time) in RL, so I would really like to read something, (everything from not very hard nukige, through 'classical' charage, to hard s-f is fine) with kid character. Could me male, or female. I heard that Sharin No Kuni has a kid, is that right? Translated ones please.

I voted for two shorts, and not waiting for anything just started to read (waiting on my drive for ages) Kikokugai. And it's great. I love the grahics, soundtrack, designs, characters, mood, setting and everything. Oh - and remake looks very generic, only first, 18+, version should exists. So yeah, it would be nice if Demonbane would lose. (22 days of this month left, just a remider)

I don't know any japanesse song with vocals that is even slightly melancholic, let alone downright 'sad', they always find a way to ruin good start with 'happy/bright' refrain, like in euphoria opening. But that I O opening was nice, I'm very interested to hear more of that kind.

Agree. I don't liked Tsubaki much, but it was really good written character, interesting to read about. As oppose to...: ...yeah. I thought that up until her chapter. ~~~~~~~~~~ Anyway, Kara No shoujo 2 I just met my first bad ending, it was I was glad until now, that I avoided bad endings, that Kara 2 avoided mistakes made by Cartagra and Kara 1 - blind choices leading to bad endings, but this bad end is nothing but a blind choices. Sigh. I hate those. Also - this bad ending was just... 'hey, why it stopped, I want to play more!' type of thing. Also - it looks like this game will be a little different than previous 2 titles. Both of them has very clear 'two arcs'. This looks like it could have two arcs as well, but instead of ending of first arc, the case that started in village (I know culprit, well I think I know, unless some stupid twist came along the way, Reji is really close to know the culprit, all it takes to prove it) after those 20+ hours I read now, story is dragged, and other threads are suddenly pulled into the story right now to just delay the solution of main case. That's just how I see it. Hopefully it will be interesting, because pacing died a little right now and title is no longer aiming at 9.5+/10, rather 9.0+. EDIT: Oh, and one more thing. Up until now music was really great, much better than Kara1. But now it makes the same sins as the previous game. Great scene at the hospital, tension, every second counts, drama is happening, everybody is running and shouting (well, almost), and.... this track is playing: Sigh. Way to kill the mood, eh? And it's not the first time, I hate that happy jazz when people talks about victim of murders, or scene of crime is investigating. Put there a dark music and suddenly everythings looks much better.

That last question, about changes of bahaviour... I replied as 'yes', because VNs made me going angry at 'cute' thing. ;d

Kara no Shoujo 2. Lil' spoilers ahead. Apologize for my style, but I have this guy's voice in my head, so I'm much more shouting than I should. ;p Holy hell. That 'filler' at the begining, this 6 whole hours without protagonist, was one of my best experience I ever had with VNs. Pure 10/10. awesome cast, mood, story, music, art, everything. And then back to Reji. Okay, it started, characters, case, investigation, okay, neat for now... and after an hour everything suddenly drops so hard, that it's painfull. Suddenly no mood, no tension, no story, much slower pace... There even was an entire scenes devoted only to tell how big Yukiko boobs are, and how Yukari is cooking dinner. Like I care that she peel the carrots and fried the onins. And I could endure all of that if cast would be as good as in Kara 1 (not to mention the awesome cast in that 'filler'). But no. I'm at the beginning of 'main' story and new characters are annoying. I'm really afraid for the rest of the game. Kohane is just as much 'Tojiko2' as you could get, but this time it's not working. She's more obnoxious, and more dumb than great Tojiko (whom I surprisingly for myself liked really, really much). Not working. And girl in the cover. Oh my god... Angsty teenager, who burst into 'awkwardness' in almost every situation. I'm reading rather fast and not wait for a voice acting to say full lines. And all I can hear from her are: 'ekh', 'akh', 'agm' 'um' 'ano' 'eto' 'y', etc! She starts every sentence with this. Speak up girl, I want to hear you! She's shy, nonvisible, calm, and seems to be shallow (as a character, not as a person). Not intriguing, I'm not interested in her at all. And what Kyoko is saying to Reji about her?! "She's kinda like her." Well, NOT AT ALL. Toko was a great, intruguing, lively, but melancholic, sociable, but closed, active and smart character. Yukiko has nowthing of her. Nothing! Fortunatelly Reji said she is not as Toko at all. Ugh. Give me back my Yu Futami, my favourite character in Cartagra No Shoujo series so far (besides Toko and Stella). EDIT: I know some of those 'sounds' like 'Ano', or 'Eto' are actually words, but starting every sentence with "... ano... ... ...somethinsomething" is painfull to listen.

...back to topic - I hope other project would be something from Chronicles series. Or maybe one of 'Kimi(...)' VNs, as KimiEien is currently at work in Alternative Project. I don't care for Schwarzesmarken, but more translated VNs is always a good thing though.

...and done. Nekoko was more cohesive and thus more entertaning, altjhough nowhere as good as Aeka. I would rate her route 6.5 Overall grade is 6.5. Time For Cyber Slayer. ^^
