  1. Finished Makina's route. I've enjoyed that one the most of the three I've finished thus far.

    Which ones have you completed?

Edit: Never mind, you mentioned on previous page. I'm sad you couldn't get into Amane's route.

I'm almost done, I finished Sakaki's route last night in between other things, so I'm just down to Sachin's.

If I had to describe Amane's route, I'd say it was a well-written absurdity. In fact, I'd say the dialogue between Amane and Kazuki might be the best exchange between two characters in the entire visual novel. But in choosing a circumstance that could actually have the best chance of happening but having it in such a modern time period, it just makes it hard for me to buy into it. Probably because it brings an element that was completely under control of the outside world and it was played out in a way that just doesn't make sense for a modern age, high-tech, high-intelligence society like Japan.

Sachi´s route is awesome, so look forward to it. Though ... her bad ending ... :pyaa: ...

Cool to hear your opinion on Amane´s route. I personally loved it, but I get your point. Seems its one of the routes that have very split opinions on wether its good or not.

  2. Just started this a few days ago, i have not completed any route yet (i think i'm in Sensei's route) but wtf is going on here???? I am so confused and scared .-. i should have avoided this VN but now my curiosity won't let me stop playing u.u

As long as you don't find the H-content to bee too vulgar you should defenitely see it through to the end. You wont be dissapointed if you like the mystery and confusion elements. It all gets cleared up in the end.

That being said, just playing 1 route and then dropping it will leave you unsatisfied and (nauseated?)

If you need a guide as to how to get into the routes and what choices to make to get the different ends, its all in this thread. Though, do be careful opening spoiler tags. Some of them have spoilers. :makina:

  3. I´d say, definitely pick up Eden*. It has good romance, light and funny moments, serious and more heavy moments that makes for a good contrast, its licensed and fairly short. Its a really good read.

Problem being the heavy moments are heavy as can be. I'd not recommend this if you're looking for something lighthearted. Sure, it's a good read, but it'll leave you feeling like shit.

Disagree with this. Its true that a good part of the VN is heavy moments, but they by no means leave you feeling like shit, and the overall experience comes of as light and rewarding. Moments being filled with emotion does not mean they cant be considered a light read. Guess it comes down to personal prefrence, but I think of this novel as a fairly light one.

  4. After finishing Rika and Sensei's route now at the end of Rinne route. Things are quite fucked up from here.

Rinne's route is all kinds of fucked up.

True route is worse. Some of that stuff will leave deep emotional scars if you dont treat it quickly with 200 milligrams of moege, lolis and/or nekos.

(Damn the story is good though!)

... Personally, I re-played parts of Nekopara to heal the wounds Euphoria left me with.

  5. Hmm, that is really strange. I´m at a loss.

Have you tried doing a fresh install of visual novel reader?

You could alternatively try using a different translation program. Deep blue has a good thread on a good, lightweight tool.

Other than that I´m out of ideas, sorry.

  6. Looks to me like its not seeing the Japanese as Japanese. Have you set your locale and text format to Japanese? If not you have to do that first for your computer to read the Japanese symbols as they should be read.

Umm I am using applocale for my game but.. how do i set my text format to jap?

Simply go into your system settings and find "format" under "region and language", and change the text format to Japanese. The text format does NOT require a restart. Changing the system locale does require a restart though. Give that a try and see if it helps

  7. I second Maggots Baits. Really interested in that title, but I dont want to try to read something like that with just a parser and furigana aids. I think I´d die halfway through.

Also, Migarete Goran, yozora no hoshi wo. Already pre-ordered it but to be able to play it translated would be 100x better. Heterochromia herione! ... KYAAAA~, kawaii!

Also, the rest of the Yosuga no Sora routes. Seriously bugs me that they basically abandoned the project on like 83%. Think someone are still working on it once in a while, but its progressing slower than a snail with a bullet wound trying to go uphill in pouring rain.

  8. The fact that a Winged Cloud game was the only example of a vn shows how little they actually researched that part of the segment, and as a media student, I find that incredibly frustrating!

what are you talking about? they also included that excellent SAO doujin game, because we all know how good that "plot" is :makina:

That's pretty retarded sice doujin games are... well.... fan made, they shouldn't be used to represent the market.

It would be like me using all those shitty indie survival FPS games on Steam as a way to represent the FPS genre.

I'm not even saying there's no bad porn games, there obviously are, but using a random fan made sex game as a representative of a whole genre just shows your inability to do research.

And it's not even that I'm expecting a positive outlook, but not presenting any form of counter point of view makes your discussion essentially an echo chamber.

    Yup.

I would say that it pains me that Eroges are looked at and generalized like that from outsiders´ points of view, but honestly, it doesn´t. The truth is that a large amount of these games are amazing, and we all know it. And thats enough. If you are actually so close minded that you just look at one bad title, say this genre is garbage and move on, well then thats your loss.

Of course it is a shame to see negative press around VNs, but I think that the abundance of good titles will speak for themselves. If someone actually gives titles like Grisaia a try, I am sure that a lot of them would change their mind rather quickly.

  9. Now that I´m all done with Euphoria, I´m gonna start playing Tick! Tack! Been looking forward to it, as I loved Shuffle! and Nerrine is my fav girl. Also, time travel and time lines and what not is always fun. Excited for the different endings.

Also playing SonoHana Nyuu Jene on the untranslated side of things. Progressing slowly, but really like what I´ve played so far. Hazuki reminds me a lot of Nanami. (Who is the best girl in SonoHana, and if you disagree I will send a rabid Yuuna-Senpai after you, so be warned.)

  10. Well holy crap ... That was insane. Finally finished the true ending. This VN was so good..! So many plot twists, suprises and what not. The story dropped in quality towards the end with all the spies and secret companies and bla bla, but the overall experience and satisfaction of seeing the true ending and actually understanding all the confusing shit that went on in the other routes was so awesome.

I can't believe just how well they actually hid all the information untill the very end. Like, you basically don't get what is going on until you finish the last parts of the last route. Really well done on their part.

Or maybe  I'm just dumb for not figuring it out on my own before :michiru:

  11. The best moment in this VN for me was deciding to yolo and spam the "I love you" loop with Kanae only to find out that was exactly what you had to do to not get a gameover

Oh wait, so is this what you have to do to get the true ending? I am like so confused at the moment because I have made seemingly every single possible choice combination in the game and yet I only have 1480/1551 CG unlocked. I'm not at my PC at the moment (writing from my phone) so I cant test it out, but basically, I have to go back to the "I love you" choice and repeat it over and over and I get a different ending?

  12. I don´t get the hate around Natsuki´s route. I get that it doesn't contribute much to the core plot, but it still doesn't make it a bad route. I actually liked it quite a lot.

Then again, I kinda have a onee-san / teacher / older woman complex so I guess I just enjoyed it cuz of that... And all the H-Scenes... Yum.

Though omg, wtf, the part with the period and the blood and ... omg, why? ... Just ... why?

  13. First of, love the profile pic. Laura, best girl! Anyways...

I'd say give Katahane a go. It isn't quite what you asked for, but it fits most criteria. It's set in a fantasy world, though its not with elves and such sadly. The game is a little old, so the art isnt incredible, but the story is great. It starts of very light hearted and moves over to more heavy plot later. Also offers some good romance and nice, colorful characters. (The game is 18+, and there is an English fan translation patch for it. )

Other than that you could try Shuffle! The main heroines in the games are devils and Gods, (so not quite an angel, but they do have elf ears and can use magic, so its pretty much the same.) Though there are 2 human heroines as well. Once again, not exactly what you asked for but still, fits the criteria decently. It is also translated and licensed, and can be purched and downloaded from Mangagamers homepage. (The game is also 18+) So when it comes to access for English readers, its a lot easier to obtain and read.

Hope I helped! Just ask if you have any questions

  14. Just in case you hadn't already seen it, check out my beginner's thread: http://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/3493-for-love-of-vns-for-beginners/

Personally... even though it is a bit older, you might go ahead and try Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashi no, because it is what Koiriso was trying to do.  Noble Works is also a good choice, as is Real Imouto.

Just had to jump in here and say thanks so much for this thread! Been looking for some novels that aren't too difficult to read. I'll be sure to check some out after I finish my current untranslated project.

(Kazami Yuuji scarred me for life when I wasted countless hours getting through Meiykuu and Rakuen untranslated ... )

  15. Very nice review, I agree with a lot of it. I personally though, feel like the routes that were "out of place" and "reduntant" made for a nice contrast in the game. You get a fairly normal vanilla story with light romance that kind of walks away from the plot, which is a nice break from the heavy psychological, confusing and brutal core story. Its defenitely a novel that wont appeal to everyone because of its very graphic content but the story is intruiging as all hell, and I would reccomend it to people who usually doesnt touch VNs like this for that reason. (I myself was new to this kind of thing when I started it.)

One more thing I feel is worthy of being mentioned is the choices. I felt that the choices throughout the story were a little to simple. You get a bad end if you pick the wrong one, but ... its easy to know which one is the right choice. So, you don't really get the bad end by mistake that much. At least, that is what I felt when I played it. If they made it a little harder to know what is the right choice, it would force a bad end on you more often, making for a little more of a shocking experience, which I think is fitting for this title.

  16. My review of this will be going up on FuwaReviews tomorrow at noon CST. I hope I'll be able to convince some people who wouldn't otherwise touch it to give it a shit.

Cant wait to read it. :sachi:

  17. I was going to say Da Capo 2, but I'm pretty sure they just use Nii-san (Nii-san > Aniki I'll fite u). I'm pretty sure they use Aniki in Umineko, but I don't think that's the kind of VN you're looking for. :P

Sorry but I just have to butt in and say nii-nii beats both of those any day of the week. Come at be bruh!
