  1. Higurashi is great. If you haven't also read Umineko no Naku Koro ni I highly recommend it. Welcome to the site!
  2. Confession: I secretly pulled the strings behind today's rulechange as one more step on my road to secretly turning Fuwa into a squeaky-clean forum that only discusses all-ages VNs full of wholesomeness. Tehe. After looking at the above linked VNDB pages the thought I came away with was 'I dunno, getting embraced by a giant starfish doesn't sound so bad'. I'm sure Fuuko would agree with me.
  3. The main thought Angel Beats (the anime) left me with was 'man I wish they had fleshed out the story more'. It felt like one of those rushed stories where they couldn't quite fit in all the details from the original work... except it WAS the original work. What I'm hoping is the VN (series) will tell the whole story and after that we can play around with time and stuff and say 'Oh the anime adaptation is basically just a butchered advertisement for the game' and when people try to point out that the anime came out first we'll just give them blank stares.
  4. Costs $140 now for the LE, though if it goes the same way Rewrite did it'll show up used for rather cheap in a year or so. I'm just getting the ordinary edition, I don't need another wallscroll.
  5. Man. This week. This week has been full of awesome releases and this is just the shiny cherry on top. I really didn't want to spend so much money right before going back to the US, but there ain't no way I'm going back without picking this up.
  6. I don't own a 3DS so I can't get the new Fire Emblem games coming out tomorrow... but I did get a box of the Fire Emblem Cipher card game! I want to make a deck that is nothing but Chiki, Nono and a bunch of cute Pegasus Knights. Joking aside, the art for this card game is awesome and I do not regret spending the price of an actual new Fire Emblem game getting a box full of small cardboard squares.
  7. Wait you play on Gilgamesh? I play on Gilgamesh too! I got into it early when FF14 first came out because it was meant to be the unofficial RP server. I have two characters: Crescent Touichi and Tatarin Totorin. I haven't been playing lately because my time zone makes it hard to play with people, but I'd love to hang out once I get back to America and can play at normal times.
  8. Wait if tactics games are okay then Tactics Ogre should also be high on the list. And if you're a masochist Wild Arms XF is for the tactics RPG fan who wants something a little more... tactical.
  9. Final Fantasy 4 Complete Collection Lunar... whatever they named the remake of Silver Star Story Castlevania Dracula X Chronicle (includes Castlevania Symphony of the Night as an unlockable) I don't know if sneaky assassin games covers Metal Gear games but Metal Gear Peace Walker is amazing and I consider it to be the real 'Metal Gear 4' Brave Story: New Traveler (though it's painfully easy, it's still a really enjoyable RPG) Both of the Star Ocean ports (First... something and Second... whatever) If you're on emulator or downloading your games, Final Fantasy Type-0 has a full English patch. Just go into it expecting something very different from any other FF ever and you should be alright. Also the lack of recommendations for Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is criminal. I don't particularly like the Kingdom Hearts story, but BBS was an interesting new entry that mixed up the playstyle quite a bit. If you're having trouble deciding where to start, Ys 7 and Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky are far and away the best games on the list. FF0 is a close third, though it has some wonky combat stuff that make the gameplay not quite as enjoyable, though from every other aspect it's a really solid game. The PSP is actually one of my favorite systems, though being limited to translated games only sadly cuts its library of awesome titles in half
  10. This. Forever. Not only does it completely remix and make exciting again the best Final Fantasy, it even includes an Ancient Cave mode which is basically the Ancient Cave bit from Lufia 2, FF6 style. There is also an Ancient Cave romhack for Final Fantasy 5, but I don't feel confident enough in my knowledge of that game to attempt it. So, like, you play through all of FF6 with everything (literally everything from colors to abilities to what magic each Esper gives you) randomized and then if you ever get tired of doing that you can do the 200+ floor randomized dungeon runs. It's essentially the game no one who likes Final Fantasy should ever stop playing. I'm pretty sure I won't. Ever.
  11. What is it with Stray Cat and posting anime polls with only one right answer lately? (This time I`m resisting the urge to participate since I know I`ll just drop out again, but I mean come on that poll isn`t even remotely fair)
  12. Your waifu torrents VNs in Hell! ~Spits salt in a priests face~
  13. The power of Christ compels you! The power of Christ compels you! The power of Christ compels you!
  14. Could you describe in detail what aspects of her personality or character you enjoy? If you just ask by name it`s hard for people who haven`t played or seen To Heart 2 to make any guesses about what you`re looking for. If you can tell us what she`s like it`ll be easier to find girls like her.
  15. After getting my Steam account back I fired up King's Bounty: The Legend because it's a crazy fun game that I keep getting a few hours into and then forgetting about until the next time I remember how awesome it is. This time I think I actually have a better grasp on a lot of the things I didn't before, so this time through seems to be going a lot better. It's definitely a complicated game with lots of little systems and things you need to take care of and remember. It reminds me a lot of the Heroes of Might and Magic series, which I also need to get around to playing at some point.
  16. Greatest release week ever. This week we have: Chaos;Child, the Touhou dungeon-crawler for Vita, Persona 4 Dancing All Night, Fire Emblem Fates, plus the console port of the Grisaia magical girl spinoff game.
  17. Something you might not know about this game is that the team who localized it, Fruitbat Factory, was created by members of the team that translated Little Busters.
  18. While the story does stand on its own, not knowing about the initial conflict between the Zentraedi (or however you spell it) and the humans will make some of the things in Frontier not make as much sense. I would recommend at least watching the original Macross anime before watching Frontier. Also Frontier makes an absolute metric ton of nods to the original Macross, to the point where you could almost say it's a reboot of the story of the original to a certain extent, so you'll enjoy those a lot more if you know what they're referencing. Edit: Frontier also references some of the other Macross spinoffs as well, but I don't think they're as essential to watch.
  19. Really? Konami played it up as being a big collaboration between R07 and Peach Pit, but it makes sense that it had a ton of writers. I read a few hours of it and about all I can say is that it was both mediocre and eclectic.
  20. But nothing is crying. Also I'm kinda iffy about being hopeful for this one because last time R07 worked with a different artist we ended up getting Okamikakushi which, while not bad, was thoroughly mediocre. (which reminds me I should review that sometime)
  21. When I first saw this thread I tried to think of one but really couldn't. I knew I used to have a few but none of them really came to mind. Then when I was listening to a song from Kaleido Star on my iPod it struck me that the Sora x Rosetta yuri relationship in the 2nd season of that show is pretty much the Best Thing Ever so I'd say that's definitely my OTP. Sora and Rosetta just have such a dynamic and interesting relationship. Sometimes it's hard to tell which is older and who is supporting who. Sora takes Rosetta under her wing, but Sora is a bit of a ditz and a spaz so often it's Rosetta who is the level-headed one of the pair. At the same time Rosetta is just barely out of childhood and has had a bit of a lonely existence, so often in Sora's arms she seems to revert to a much younger time and become a child again. I thought the 2nd season of Kaleido Star was pretty mediocre for the most part, but this one relationship pretty much carries the entire show after the first series ends. Oh and here have an OP because I like linking OPs
  22. That was my first instinct but for some reason when I was looking at it late last night trying to pummel my tired brain into translation mode I couldn't get past thinking that 'tokoro' could only be used when referencing locations.
  23. Space anime happens to be one of the things I love most of all. Legend of the Galactic Heroes is a famous and crazy long (100+ episodes) epic space opera with bizarrely old-fashioned space nobility fighting each other in space. It's good. I think. I have only watched a bit of it, but it's on a lot of 'anime you must watch or else' lists. Toward the Terra is a bit of an underdog anime that doesn't get mentioned much which is a sin and a crime because it is really good. It mixes the X-Men 'normals vs. powered people' conflict with an epic space journey toward... well, you can probably guess where it's toward. There are probably tons more I'm not remembering at the moment but LotGH will take you a year to finish anyway so meh. Here have some openings Oh also most (though not all) of the Gundam series spend a lot of their time on battleships in space, though I think they need no introduction. I recommend starting with Seed if you haven't watched much Gundam before. If you watch the originals first you'll probably despise Seed when you watch it, however if you watch it divorced from any connection to any of the older shows it will come across as much more acceptable. I like Seed despite how many times I've been told by Gundam fans that it's the worst thing ever.
  24. I smell jealousy/love triangle plot. And by 'smell' I mean the text on the right side of one of the images says, esentially, 'Don't speak with or e-mail them (I'm using the genderless here because it's not clear if we're referring to a boy or girl here) in places where I'm not around' or... eugh that sound so awkward but without knowing context or even how he phrase begins that's the best I could hammer out. Anyway, sounds like jealousy.
