Welcome~ enjoy your stay If you're interested in recommendations I'd suggest G-Senjou no Maou, its a bit dark but I like the protagonist, and Haru is best girl. There's also Saya no Uta which I'd say is very good.

Maybe once I learn Japanese and I have free time (about a couple years from now) I'll try my hand at this.

So a few days ago, as I was scouring the interwebz, I came across this interesting looking VN called Tenkiami. The description on vndb is a bit lacking so I don't know what the story is about, but the two heroines (only two) are miko kitsunes, one pettanko and one kyonyuu. Here's the link: https://vndb.org/v17337 I'm a fan of kitsunes and noticed a lack of VN's with kitsunes as the main heroines, translated ones anyway. I mainly wanted to put this out there in case there were any miko kitsune fans who wanted to try their hand at translating this. I don't know how to check the spript size so I can't say how long it is, if anyones interested then maybe someone can start a project for this? I don't have the time to help since I'm working and training for the military (all I'd be able to do is proofread or edit anyway) but if this gets translated I'd be very happy~

I'm actually really looking forward to Steins;Gate 0, but I feel like its a bit pointless since its more or less a side story.

Kokoro and Margit's routes were pretty much there just to give them some attention. I can't say I don't appreciate the H scenes, but it'd be nice to have a more decent story.

Lately there's been plenty of yuri anime and manga so I'm glad for that~ Not many english VN's though, the Sono Hanabira series is kind of boring for me for one reason or another, and I absolutely loved Lonely Yuri. I'm looking forward to the day that yuri gets popular enough that this potential master piece (Class Zenin Maji de Yuri?! ~Watashi-tachi no Rezu Oppai wa Anata no Mono Joshi Zenin Shiofuki Keikaku~) gets picked up

If you're looking for evil or dark there's Saya no Uta (I mention this VN too many times >_>). The protag is pretty dark because of his condition, and his sanity is questionable. Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo as well since its an alternate timeline where the penal system is different and there are special high class individuals that're almost like wardens, and the protag is aiming to become one. Sengoku Rance maybe since the protag is a badass bastard that goes around beating people up and l=sleeping with/raping women. I'm not entirely sure on the details since I've only seen screenshots my friend showed me.

Yeah I think I'll follow your advice and do a mix~ play my favorite character route then watch the anime, mainly cause its hard for me to enjoy the VN's emotional parts since I always finish reading the text while the characters are still talking and I can't be bothered to wait until their lines are done

Same gender and incest shouldn't be the same since there's a difference between yuri/yaoi love and incest love, and apparently I'm the only one that voted for it since I like both (／・ω・)／

I also avoided that because that can go either way, plus (if I remember correctly) I don't think If you want a purely S protagonist there are plenty of nukige VN's, not many normal ones though since masochism and sadism tend to be associated with sexual scenes and most VN's have the sexual parts as a secondary focus

I mentioned Saya no Uta too many times so I figured I should stop~ That said I also didn't mention it because he's not really a sadist since a sadist does oppressing/violent/sadistic things for personal (usually sexual) pleasure. Fuminori is pretty fucked up and an asshole but for more or less valid reasons

Normally I prefer to watch anime since its easier to grasp the situation and fully enjoy it, but if they skimp over a lot of things then I'll take the VN. So conflicting ;-;

I've put off Clannad for one reason or another for years (I did watch like 5 episodes though) but ever since getting into VN's I've realized that I prefer the original over the adaptation with the only exception being Steins;Gate. That being said, for those that watched the anime and played/read the VN, which would you recommend? The VN with more detail, or the animation with all the animation goodness?

There aren't many psychological horror anime since it kinda has to spread out to a wide audience. I remember I saw a list of the top goriest anime and it had a bunch of old anime I've never heard of but looked freaky as hell. You're better off reading some manga or VN's, though I think Gantz might be what you're looking for

Maybe it'd be better to show her some old school games like Pajama Sam and Freddi Fish? I had a blast playing them as a kid~

Azai from G-Senjou no Maou is kind of sadistic, especially in the bad ends of the characters, and he constantly messes with Haru. If you want full on sadism its better to look for some nukiges. Goshujin-sama Daisuki has a perverted rich protagonist who has to pick a wife and pretty much owns the candidates so he makes them do what he wants, but never rapes them, its kind of sweet and has a harem end but not much story.
