  1. Do note that Heisig specifically discourages reviewing from kanji to keyword. I'm not sure why yet, apparently it's to be explained soon but I haven't gotten any new kanji in for a while due to headaches tiredness et cetera (qq).
  2. sort the cards by "due" to find out and just put the number it should be at in the first box. By default it should shift everything else up one number. Also, you can undo the last change you did if something weird happens so there is that.
  3. I think what would attract me to an OELVN is the same that would attract me to any vn. There needs to be something that stands out. For example, Driftwood - a kickstarter vn in a school setting - is set in the US, and has male friends play a significant role. Also has good art. While the school setting really is played out as fuck, those first two are so rare it's interesting to me. The thing is, though, that I expect OELVNs to at least try to be different from their japanese brethren - there are enough translated vns on my backlog if I want something that feels japanese. I don't find high length to be a requirement, but I prefer it to be at least 30 minutes. I like short vns to space in between longer ones for a breather; the doujin vns translated by Insani tend to be good for this and usually somewhat nonstandard compared to more mainstream works. I agree with you somewhat about japanese-style artwork, but I think that is partly due to a lack of quality VNs drawn in another style. I welcome anyone trying making a good vn without it.
  4. Clannad is too long and starts off weak imo.
  5. I might be interested in this. How are you with spoilers? I'm not sure how far I could go, and imo quite a lot of discussion and review needs at least a spoilered part to truly be justified. Ofc I can also elaborate on general themes, which is the kind of thing only Steve would consider a big spoiler . Lemme try to find something decent from my admittedly shitty, but quite well-stocked, blog... Oh, and if you want to read other entries be prepared for the occasional self-hate bomb. <CENSORED> I could probably make things more detailed, these are just medium-effort posts.
  6. Good to have you on board! Something miscallaneous but potentially useful: if you notice that Anki is skipping a few kanji from the list, this might be due to their Due order being wrong. I'm a faggot so I'll not make this detailed, but I finally fixed it by browsing the deck, Sorting it (visually) by Heisig number, then Repositioning the bad elements to their proper Due date. To find those Kanji, there is a surprisingly simple method: for these kanji alone, it seems, there's an an On-yomi field. To get everything with a non-blank field... try deck:current -"On-yomi": The key to this is that it minuses everything with an empty On-yomi field. The moar you know.
  7. Hmm, maybe I just dislike the second tune but to me it was worse than your first, if better technically. Very flat... Uhh, am I biting? Anyways, I only really have one notable video...
  8. Status report time! Encountered kanji: 217. No-activity days: none. Only-review days: 2 Greatly reduced new kanji days: 1 Percentage complete: ~10% I've managed to get somewhat of a habit going, though it's still rather tenuous. Especially important I think is that I do reviews in the morning; if I did the total like 120 reviews I'm getting per day now including new cards I'd go insane. One thing at the moment is that I have sleep issues. I tend to be very tired at 22, though I managed to mitigate it somewhat for today and managed to memorize most stories well. Given stories continue to be somewhat hit-and-miss. One thing caused by this, I guess, is that I usually forget to some degree around 3-5 kanji once while reviewing new cards, which is annoying but part of learning so nothing to whine about really. I've been plagued by issues of Anki skipping cards, causing me to scramble to memorize some extra kanji - which usually works out okayish, admittedly. I've managed to fix this by browsing, searching for 'deck:current "On-yomi":' and fixing up the Due numbers to align with their heisig numbers... so far. Motivation level at the moment is... well kind of meh. I'm feeling a bit ill/headachey right now and part of that was probably caused by the mental effort I put into drawing kanji and visualizing stories in my mind while reviewing. However, I think my habit building might be sufficient enough to keep me going in these silly days, and hey I reached 10% and that is awesome!
  9. Holy shit that is a slow stove. ...Well either that or you just prepare the vegetables decently quickly lol.
  10. Since I went with my own decisions for my first run in KS, and was thus rather noncommittal, I got the Manly Picnic first I recommend it! In fact in my first run I have a tendency to end up with neutral endings. On the other hand, this also mentally allows me to use a walkthrough so thats cool But yes, KS is more or a charage than a scenario game, so it makes sense to just pick the girl you want
  11. I'm partial to the old classic demae ramen beef flavor myself. Haven't ever seen ma goreng (or whatever that interesting brand was called)
  12. "A digital book with pictures and music, and often a branching storyline." Hmm, too basic?
  13. share share shareshare share share share *attempts creepy eyes of his own*
  14. Wireless mouses are THE way to play (esp eroge for various reasons )
  15. Kotori is my recommended first route actually (and my favorite chara route!). You might find Shizuru to be a letdown though .
  16. Although Rin in KS can be hugely annoying, I’d still consider it a must read due to the quality of the story.Take that as you will
  17. Damn it, stop making the story so good I want the next episode. Nice twist, the trope you used there at the end is pretty cool.
  18. I also go for all routes unless it's something incredibly pointless and hard-to-get like Chaos;head's B ending. Pretty much the only thing I consider myself to have "finished" decently that I've only done half the endings for is School Days.
  19. In a weak defense of sweden, the pictures have to be "realistic" - and thus triggering child rape or whatever the reasoning is - to be illegal according to a supreme court case (that manga guy. He was found innocent after having been convicted two times prior iirc.).
  20. I can't really understand this so all I can say is I had no idea it was actually "konnichi wa".
  21. Personally I would consider making no-ero the default option, I think that would make people feel better if they don't like ero. On the other hand, I really have no fucking clue and as I wrote that I became less sure of it already Oo. I can't think of many reasons, but maybe... 1. While the current demographics prefer ero in general, they may be trying to reach people who aren't currently reading vns. Good luck with no marketing... 2. Rapelay incident still messing things up even though the ero probably isn't that violent or anything. 3. Japanese are weird
  22. Part of the reason I hated shitatori shiratori's route was that it was my first completed route. The mood whiplash compared to what I'd read so far was huge and I actually quit the vn altogether for a while out of RAGE. Now if I'd gone Tsubaki => Kanon => Shiratori, that might have been acceptable as a change of pace... Otherwise, it's been too long to say what my actual heroine preference was; my route preference was Haru>Kanon>Tsubaki>>>>Shiratori. Both Tsubaki and Kanon were worthwhile imo. Also you might want to spoiler that thing 'bout Kanon, Skeith.
  23. I usually find it impossible to wait for the text speed I set, but if I set it higher it gets disorienting somehow. Basically I usually tend to click, and if the line drags on I click again to complete it. Maybe my reading speed actually accelerates/decelerates over time or something... That said if I'm tired enough to wait for slow auto it can be relaxing. In general though, part of what I like about VNs is that you can finely control the speed of content delivery. I'm a bit of a control freak, I guess...
  24. Apart from really liking the harry potter books, they have a special significance for me as they were the first (big-ish) books I read in English. Basically I'd read the first two and really didnt want to wait for the T/L of the third to Swedish. I started out, by my parents' stipulations, at the first book again and read through it all. After that, I started reading as much as I could in english... which is probably part of why I use so many big words at times
