OK. I picked the next genre:

Comedy or Vampire. Comedy as a generally nice and enjoyable theme. Vampire is the more original and unique theme. I guess.

Let's discuss this till the current cycle ends. Derp.

Oh you're just asking me to reference abridged series at this point aren't you.

Anywho, Kore Wa Zombie kinda addresses both of those.  Or we go Shiki but that's not exactly comedy I laughed though.

I was totally going to suggest Hellsing Ultimate for Vampires.  I've never seen it, but my friend said it was good.

Ahaha. I has the powah! Anyways i want you guys' opinion on this. And i guess i wasnt clear enough! We'll pick either comedy or vampire. I will make the final decision based on your posts here(or we could just vote, but tha kinda kills my authority, so fuck it!)

Personally, im up for comedy, but some of the candidates of that genre will be pure comedy and its not quite a good discussion material.(they usually dont have any story, so all we'll discuss is the chatacters and their jokes)(derp) Thats why i added vampire. But we'll see what happens. If you guys dont mind doing comedy reviews then sure, why not?

I watched movie 1 but was waiting for people to comment on it since I've already seen the show once so I was hoping i could retort :makina:

But yeah we should be discussing Madoka, not the next cycle.

I also agree vampire as a genre is kind of meh, there are very few decent vampire anime. Comedy is probably a safer choice.

I finished madoka.

I realized i didnt watch the last movie. So i watched it but the ending was kinda confusing. But its still quite enjoyable. The animations in the last movie was the best thing ever

The ending to the 3rd movie imo was more stupid than it was confusing.

I'm not sure if they're setting it up for a sequel or if they just plan to end it on that grim note.

It could just be Urobuchi being Urobuchi, in which case there's not much hope.

I just don't get what was the point.

Or rather, I see the point in terms of why Homura did what she did and I kind of back her up on it, but the conclusion felt so loose, i couldn't be satisfied with it at all.

I don't know exactly *how*, but as far as I know Shinbo asked Urobuchi to change stuff at the end, in the original script.

I don't really like how the 3rd movie ended either. It's like once again piling twist upon twist, which just completely obfuscates the point of the movie or the series in general.

Yeah. The tv series ending was better. Or they couldve just let things end as they were supposed to untill the plot twist appeared(how do i spoiler) (cant see the option in mobile version)

Ikr. 3rd movie ending totally could've just ended at that one part, but nope! SCREW EVERYTHING.

(how do i spoiler) (cant see the option in mobile version)

There's no text editer buttons on mobile, so you have to do manual (spoiler)blahblahblah(/spoiler) except with square brackets.

If they actually release a sequel I'm not sure wether I'd be happy or sad that this series is being milked dry.

I thought the ending to the TV series was bittersweet, but conclusive enough to be satisfying.

The whole saving all magical girls in exchange for sacrificing Madoka. Even if cliché, it achieved its purpose.

I was already frowning when I started watching the 3rd movie because

They pulled the "jk it was all a dream" out of their ass just for the sake of excusing the continuation of the plot.

But I could have forgiven it, sort of, if it ended when

Homura was saved by Madoka which would basically return the movie to the original TV series plot.

But after they use yet another plot twist at the end it just made the whole thing feel pointless, not to mention the plot twist itstelf made the ending super inconclusive.

Much thanks!

It has certainly been "milked dry". If only it had been "milked dry" for the best... But it has been "milked dry" for the worst. I cant decide whether to trust urobuchi or not, for they may be plotting to "milk it dry" further! Let us hope they "milk it dry" better the next time!

So, here is my review for Madoka Magica. I've never done a review before, and I'm not the best at explaining things, so this might be a little short. Also, I've only watched the anime series, not the 3rd movie as I feel like the show is concluded.

Story: 6.5/10

The story was pretty good, not the best I've ever seen or anything, but not bad. When Mami died, I could tell it was going to be one of

those anime, the kind where alot of the main characters were going to die.

Characters: 7/10

The characters had good design personality wise, they weren't stereotypical or anything. I didn't really feel attached to them that much, but it felt like they were themselves, and they chose what they wanted to choose.

Soundtrack: 7/10

The music wasn't really anything speacial IMO, the tracks fit with the mood of whatever was going on at that moment, and that's nice, but it didn't feel engaging.

Art-style: 9/10

I really liked the art style of this anime, especially the eye design. I also thought the labyrinth art was interesting, like that of a childs' drawing.

Enjoyment: 7.5/10

Overall: 8/10

While Magical Girl anime isn't my thing, it was a nice series to add to my list of finished anime.

It's not just one of those anime, it's an Urobuchi anime. D4rk and edgy~

The artstyle is gorgeous, i can never get tired of it and the movie elevates it even more, i'm glad other people appreciate Aoki Ume's eye design, she is my favorite mangaka of all time, her art is pure eye porn, i'll fangirl over her character design anyday.

Random fact: Aoki Ume is a big fan of shoujo ai, a lot of her works, more notoriously Hidamari Sketch and Madoka Magica, give off a girls love vibe because of that, it's not just fanservice pandering or your imagination, she actually likes pairing her characters together. So yeah Homura really is in love with Madoka. In fact most of her works only have girls as main characters, there's only a couple featuring males.

She also has several original yuri doujins, they're really adorable and I recommend you read them if you want fluffyness.

In terms of heterosexual stories, only two of her publications, Binetsu Kuukan and Mado no Mukougawa, feature a male main character, but even then it's pretty cute overall, her art is just so relaxing, it warms your heart.

She also wrote a Madoka Magica doujin that was supposed to be included in the blu-rays. Since she's the creator does it count as canon material? :makina:

</nerd out>

I don't usually take note of art in anime, but this style was so appealing I couldn't not enjoy it. :mare:
