Looking for recs for a complete noob like me

Hi, i'm looking for some recs since i'm a complete VN noob (Only Vns I've finished are Galaxy Angel (The first one) And the Phoenix Wright series) and I was wondering if anyone was kind enough to recommend any.

However, Before we get started, I have some restrictions for your search. Ready? Here we go:

1. No H-Scenes (Self explanatory. Very, very, very, VERY, Self explanatory (It seems that Pepole Haven't seen the post I made that I am ok with Skipping or turning off the H-Scenes if I can))

2. It can't make me cry (this is coming from the crazy house that is key than from anywhere else. Look, I understand. If you can make VNs that can make people cry then you guys are geniuses and deserve all the respect and praise. But when I say I don't want to cry while I read a VN, it means I. Don't. Want. to. CRRRRYYYYY!!!11!)

3.  It must be happy go lucky (What I mean by that is that there should be no grim dark edgy BS (Which, from what I heard, is what Fate/stay night is), basically, it should be as happy go lucky as Galaxy Angel and Phoenix Wright (At least I consider Phoenix Wright to be happy go lucky), it's ok if there are some dark themes, just as long as the overall mood is happy go lucky)

4. It must have happy endings (If there are bad endings, it should be fairly easy to dodge them, and if you do get them, they should not be as stupid or as gory as school days's bad endings (or as we call it in the chat I go to, "Skool Daze"))

5. It must be English translated (Why? cause fug you, i'm not going to learn an ENTIRE LANGUAGE just to play one game)

Ehh, that's quite the tall order. First of all as I'm guessing you're aware a LOT of VNs have H-scenes, so if you don't want them at all as opposed to skipping them that's already a lot of VNs gone. And as for the VNs that don't have H-scenes, they usually try to tell an emotional story, meaning that a lot of them will make you cry a bit and some of them will make you cry a lot. Most of the happy-go-lucky VNs are nukige where the H-scenes are the main focus.

I've looked through my list of VNs and the only one that even remotely fits is World End Economica.

...I've read a lot of VNs (over 300 of them) and what you're asking for is kinda difficult. Most VN heroines have some sort of psychological trauma, a troubled past, some sort of drama or something along those lines, even in pure moege. It gets even harder when you want to have no sexual content... If I could suggest japanese VNs, there would be more options, but you said you didn't want those, so.

Well, why not take a look at Katahane? Or Little Busters? There are moments in both that can make you cry, but they have happy endings. Otherwise, you should give a try to Deardrops, Hoshizora no Memoria or Quarttet.

Some of these have H-scenes, but they are really short and non-prevalent in the story (they make up much less than 1% of the text).

If you want more suggestions, take a look at my 50 VNs list :P

That's a really hard list to fulfil, actually.

The only vn I've read that fits it completely would be "don't take it personally babe, it just ain't your story" which is an OELVN by Christine Love and definitely not something everyone would enjoy (though I really really enjoyed it).

Neither of these perfectly fit the bill, but you *might* like Collage or Analogue: A Hate Story (the latter also by Christine Love). Both fulfill everything except the happy-go-lucky part, but neither are particularly dark. Well, Analogue kind of is maybe.

If it's ok to skip the scenes with CTRL button, I recomend Deardrops or Kono Oozora ni (I didn't like this last one, but I think it's in your "looking range"). Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate seems ok too, but I never played this one, just watched the anime.

The use of eyelids and the ctrl button will expand your options many many MANY times. ^^

But what if my Eyelids are stapled opened and my ctrl button is broken?!!?11?!?1?

Serouisy tho, why would I need to do this any ways? I just want to read, not fap.

Then read and don't fap. Fapping is optional in a lot of eroge. Many VNs with h-scenes have only a small handful of them that only make up less than 5% of the experience. It takes only a few seconds to skip past any h-scene and unless you are in a space where you don't want it displayed on the screen, it's hardly any different from selecting an option that disables them from a menu (like is present in Amaterasu's translations).

Anyways, unfortunately for you, there aren't many no-h, drama-light VNs that meet your requirements. Besides what you've mentioned, I can think of Dangan Ronpa. it's dark, but it's a dark comedy,  both happy-go-lucky and dark at the same time. You can get official translations of both games for the Vita, or there's a fan translation of the first one on PSP (and it can be emulated).

Outside of that... yeah, I've got nothing.

If it's that easy then why is it there at all? Someone once said that the best VNs are the ones that have no H-scenes and because of that,   they take time to focus on the story and characters without ulterior motives, and I think I agree with him.

Also, the H-scenes makes the urge to fap too goddamn strong. TOO. GOD. DAMN. STRONG!!!11!!1

VNDB's "Low sexual content" tag is a decent indicator of the type of game where the focus is actually still on the story despite the presence of porn. The h-scenes are very easily skippable with the ctrl button most of the time. Here's a quick and dirty database search to help find things more to your tastes (using low sexual content tag, excluding nakige (crying game) and utsuge (depressing game) tags): https://vndb.org/v/all?q=;fil=lang-en.tag_inc-236.tag_exc-596~693.tagspoil-0;o=d;s=rating

All I saw at the top was Fate and knew instanly that you have not read my OP. I said that someone once said that Fate was grim dark edgy BS and I told you want happy go lucky VNs with happy endings. Read my OP before you do something like that.

Please don't be an ass to the people who are trying to help you. I've read your OP and am trying in earnest to help you find something you'd like. I said it was a quick and dirty filter and I meant it. That filter immediately rules out some of the things you don't want, but VNDB filters can't rule out everything you don't want, specifically "dark and edgy". I'm not saying every single game there will be to your tastes. You will have to go to the pages and see if they apply to what you want or not. I suggested Deardrops from that list because it does fit all of your requirements except the h-scenes, which I've explained about in my post. I can't do all of your legwork for you, will you have to help us out as well if you want assistance on this.

edit: For completeness sake, here's a similar list with "no sexual content" tag applied: https://vndb.org/v/all?q=;fil=lang-en.tag_inc-235.tag_exc-596~693.tagspoil-0;o=d;s=rating

Again, there will be stuff there that isn't to your tastes, such as probably Umineko and Higurashi, the Zero Escape series, corpse party, I/O, Chaos;Head, and perhaps others. Actually, that list is way more polluted with dark stuff because people just don't make light and fluffy all-ages VNs, really. I can't really think of any good tag filters to get rid of that stuff since they come with a wide variety of content that also can sometimes appear in lighter stuff. Ironically, if you can learn to ignore h-content, then I think the previous list you discarded has more stuff suited to your tastes. If all of this is still inadequate, then I'm sorry and I'm not sure there's much else we can do for you.

Damn. :/

Well, thanks, I guess, I guess I'll just learn to use the ctrl button.

As everyone said above, your restrictions are pretty damn limiting :P but there's one VN I can think of.....

Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hiro-

I mean uhh If My Heart Had Wings. The MoeNovel localized version.

1. MoeNovel went and censored everything so there's no H-scenes; hell, they even censored some of the perverted jokes.

2. This VN's pretty lighthearted, so I don't think you'll cry.

3. Very little drama goes on so it's pretty happy go lucky.

4. Happy endings! :)

5. English! The translation is pretty bad; one route (Ageha) is pretty much incomprehensible but the other routes are at least readable.

Simply put you want a vn with cute girls but no H-scenes and no emotional scenes and no mature dark themes. The only thing you can play with your restrictions is moeges and the use ctrl button really..

I suppose old school dating-sims might work as well. But honestly you need to worry about parameters and flags all the time, aka it's not a vn.

I'd rather try kono oozora or shuffle!, similar titles. Have some emotional stuff, but it never really goes over the line to making you sad. Just *sob* *sob* that was a great story.

Seriously use the ctrl, almost everyone does it..

The thing is 1 usually conflicts with 2 and 3.

I'll just list all VNs I know that has no H content or with H content being optional based on the lightness of their plot.

Little Busters!

Clannad!

Symphonic Rain

Ef A Fairytale of the two

I'd say just deal with the H scenes. I used to avoid VNs with H content as well. While I don't regret it since it forced me to read Symphonic Rain, there are a lot of good VNs with H scenes.
