  1. yeah I can see it being a draw for some people. It has quite a strong identity, pretty unique. It's just a bit weird to recommend to people because of how dense the text can be. I can definitely see the game burning people out.
  2. I figure i might as well add a bit since I'm currently somewhere in chapter 4. I'm not sure if 'info-dumps like crazy' can really sum up what brady does. It infodumps about literally everything. Anything new whether it's a new ability, new plot point or anything that you can think of Bradyon will talk about it forever. It's so thorough about everything it's honestly amazing how devoted the writer is to make just dump and dump and dump ad naseum. I can see this game wearing people out really fast. You basically have to love hard scifi to get into it. The battle descriptions especially get nuts. The action isn't very fast paced or very 'climactic' but holy shit will you know every chemical property and compound that goes into every ability that they use. And it combines it with crazy buddhist chants and the like too, it's very.. nuts. I'm at a loss at how to describe it. In general the setting is really grand and with Bradyons massive tendency to do these foreverdumps you will really feel how grand it is. The political structure definitely deserves mention especially, but when it journeys beyond timeframes and the physical and what-not it gets even crazier. I have a little bit of autism with the Nephilim group (As of yet Viva is the only one who seems to really care about other member(s?) in the group, which is a little jarring) and I think it's genuinely cool plot, with its characters, sometimes gets lost in the shuffle of all it's near ball crushing text that kinda varies on importance, but apart from that it's been pretty.. interesting, to say the least. EDIT: I went into this game expecting a really grandoise chuu2 superpowered slamdown too. This was quite the shocker.
  3. I can immagine why someone wouldn't like Tia and why the side-heroine routes would annoy somebody, (they are basically just there for porn. They are hilariously even more ridiclous then they seem when you finish the game too) but 'Caim going hetare' is not just silly, it's downright wrong. If you actually pay attention to any of the dialogue in Eustia, especially one of his last conversations with Lucius where he outright calls Caim out on his bullshit, all his actions in the end of the game make complete sense. And it's not like Caim could have just 'saved the day' in that scenario; he had no idea that thing's would turn out the way they did. Sorry you don't like characters that actually struggle with themselves and aren't just layer upon layer of badassery, but don't say stupid shit like 'caim goes hetare.' It's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard when it comes to complaints about VN's.
  4. I think this is an extremely weird definition of chuuni. Are you really saying that Shin Koihime Musou, Inganock and Grisaia are all under the same genre? The only prerequesits seem to be 'be in a fantasy/psuedo-realistic setting' and 'have fight scenes' which is way too broad. Chu2 elements and pieces in a story don't automatically turn the whole work Chu2.
  5. it seems the trial made a pretty good impression. it's also apparently written in third person, kinda like a novel? could be cool. the art's kinda wacky, gotta say, but damn the animated hand signs.
  6. I think the latter is the most accurate, so i guess it's not <totally> devoid of entertainment, but uh. Y-You'll see.
  7. Reading Meikyuu and have come upon the realization that my japanese is really awful, holy god. Rip. Waiting warmly for bradyon veda to come out.
  8. You should probably forget that F/SN even has H. It's better for the soul.
  9. Currently bouncing between TsuriOtsu and Meikyuu. Not sure which to settle on.
  10. Uh, Baldr Sky and Sachis route in Grisaia are the only things that actually caused visible tears.
  11. Cant believe I missed this thread 1 - Baldr Sky (VN, but mostly a video game. Counts) 2 - Final Fantasy 9 3 - Majoras Mask 4 - Demon Souls / Dark Souls, cant decide which one I like more. 5 - Devil May Cry 3.
  12. Can't say I care as long as the content is good.
  13. I actually have to disagree with this. The love parts of little busters VN are <horrendous> and it's my biggest annoyance with the whole product; The game makes absolutely no sense thematically because it bruteforces romance drama in a story of friendship (the entirety of the world-reset does nothing to compensate for this either). The anime could have been alot better if J.C was willing to go further and alter the stories more, but they kept in romance drama that needs romance to make sense.
  14. Monster girl quest is kind of hard to explain. You definitely go into it for the reverse-rape monster-girl nukige elements and thats the hook, but.. the story isn't anything special but it's surprisingly addicting and hilariously has a message, especially in the 2nd part. It goes even further in the third. Something about the plot has a charm to it. It's something you just have to see and be confused by.
  15. man, i hate you. i want to read dies so badly but i'll be damned if i'm ready for theatrical kanji spam
  16. A lot of the VN's original problems are even more pronounced in the anime. The scenes with Masato/Kengo from Refrain now just seem extrememely silly. It's a shame. I honestly thought a LB! Anime could have been better than the VN, but this is an impressively bad adaptation. I just kind of watch it to laugh now.
  17. o hey i forgot i post in here occasionally so yeah i just finished Dive2. Not much to say that anyone else hasn't said before, but wow. just wow. nothing in english is even in the same galaxy as baldr sky as far as storytelling and plot goes. it's amazingly paced, great gameplay with seriously the best climax fight ever. It's probably one of the best 'video games' ever. not much in the way of messages, some strong themes through-out though. it's also kind of easy to forget how depressing the cyberpunk dystopian land of baldr is because of all the action and stuff, but eesh. some of the badend/normal-ends are really feel bad, special shoutout to nanohas in this case. anyways, anyone who can read japanese should go do that if they can somehow sink 100+ hours into the 2 games. soras route has so many amazing scenes it's hilarious.
  18. You do not. They take place in the same setting but that's as far as it goes.
  19. White Album 2 is pretty known for being a true romance story, but be warned the protag is extremely YMMV. From what I've been told hes human, but extremely so, so it can be frustrating.
  20. This is due to reputation, i'm pretty sure. MangaGamer doesn't want to be known as simply a 'porn company'. I'm pretty sure if MangaGamer was allowed to, it would become a nukige factory. However not everyone wants to be associated with a porn company and CIRCUS doesn't want that on their brand either. For one; this has never been about JAST vs MangaGamer so I have no idea why you brought that up as it's largely irrelevant to the discussion of MangaGamers buisness pratice. If we're going down that road, though, I'd say JAST's release of Saya this year is far better than anything MangaGamer has released in the past year. And yes, even if it was fan-translated before. It's still worth more than anything the nukige superslide has fed us. I'm not on the lines of '1 decent title a year is 1 decent title a year'. I think more along the lines of '1 decent title a year is only 1 decent title a year'.
  21. No, that's true, but considering that is almost entirely what MangaGamer deals with now is pretty telling. Even Moege's are becoming rarer and rarer amidst the onslaught of terrible shit softhouse seal and softhouse seal-like garbage. I said that Nukige's are a neccessary evil, and while I'm not the most enthusiastic about moege, I'm not against them, (even though I don't see many titles that seem that good) nor would I protest their release. No, I simply think MangaGamer doesn't care about the medium at all. They simply care about staying afloat on their boat of shitty sex games that ruin the reputation of VN's. I've been saying this for awhile, way before I got into the TLwiki crowd. Their 1 decent title every year that might not even turn profit or outsell one of these sex games doesn't cover for that. (Btw, It's not moogy this info comes from.)
