  1. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference! I can die happy now.
  2. I can understand why people would like this aspect, but it just doesn't click with me From my perspective he's just more of a wannabe intrigue than a goofball. Though I am still rather early in the game so there's plenty of time for character development.
  3. I'm really having difficulties liking this protagonist. The main issue is how in every interaction he has he brings up the organization he's supposed to be hiding from. However he seems to have been lobotomized in his sleep because he doesn't seem to understand that screaming "Hey! Are you with the secret organization that's hunting me!?" to every Tom, Dick and Harry is literally the worst way to hide from someone. I get that they're trying to make him funny and all but the joke is just falling flat every single time. It doesn't help that he's supposed to be smart but is making such stupid decisions.
  4. Steins;Gate has a Back to the Future reference 12/10
  5. Take care mate. We look forward to seeing you back on the forums. If you ever need to talk feel free to send me a message on Skype.

  7. Our poll finished the other day and after several months of being humiliated, Steins;Gate has finally won the vn club's poll. We'll take a few days to give everyone a chance t get stuck into it then we'll start our first impressions. And just to address allegations made by a certain barber; No, me making Time Travel this months theme to get Steins;Gate into the club is not proof of a conspiracy, my blackmailing of Kosaki is though. "The universe has a beginning, but it has no end. —Infinite. Stars, too, have their own beginnings, but are by their own power destroyed. —Finite. History teaches that those who hold wisdom are often the most foolish. The fish in the sea know not the land. If they too hold wisdom, they too will be destroyed. It is more ridiculous for man to exceed light speed than for fish to live ashore. This may also be called God's final warning to those who rebel." The story of Steins;Gate takes place in Akihabara, and is about a group of friends who have customized their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN who has been doing their own research on time travel tracks them down. The characters must now find a way to avoid being captured by them.
  8. Apologize for the lack of updates, my internet has been more troublesome that a cocaine-addicted chimp with a megaphone. Steins;Gate is the winner for this month. Tomorrow when I have reliable internet I'll update the thread so until then, get started. We'll have a few days to get into it before we give our first impressions. Please don't lynch me but, I actually had no idea Steins;Gate had time travel elements, I was kinda hoping Cross Channel would get it.
  9. Holy crap. Steins;Gate might actually win this time! I've lost track of how many times it's lost the vote for this club.
  10. It's that time of the month again (well not really, we're a little late this month but oh well, shit happens). For those of you who are new to the club allow me to fill you in. Over the next 72 hours you can vote for one of five options listed below for us to come together and discuss our thoughts on it. The first week discussions will be minimal to give everyone a chance to get into whatever we choose, hen we will discuss our first impressions followed by more in depth discussions. This months theme is Time. the visual novels up for voting all have some element of time-travel or similar mechanics in their stories. Exodus Guilty Cross Channel Remember11 YU-NO Steins;Gate

  14. My weekend began 4 months ago when uni holidays started. Gotta love having no exams/jobs/friends/life to distract you.
  15. Bug Found; Kaguya still has more power than me. Unacceptable.
  16. You think you got it bad? I have to call back my entire clone army! Do you have any idea how hard it is to organize those brain-dead simpletons!?
  17. What he said. Maybe we could also add a comprehensive list of all translated vns as well?
  18. Like Rooke said, the Mary Sue/Gary Stu rule is neither inherently good or bad. what matters is the execution and the context that it is taking place. One of the biggest flaws I see with this troupe is that it makes a story completely pointless. If a character has the means of solving a conflict from the very beginning then everything in between the very beginning and the very end is just padding. The reader will go through all of this story that adds nothing to the character and fails to build tension and when the climax comes the reader will be asking "Why the hell didn't they just do that from the start?"
  19. I could give it a shot. I live in Australia (Time zone GMT+10:30). It'd be a good incentive to use the Chat more often.
