  1. 5. a wooden stick with the word sowrd written on it
  2. It's an aspect that can't and probably shouldn't be avoided when the things we cover here include visual novels and the like There's no way to go around that topic but it's possible to show a bit discretion so nobody gets scared off But seriously, it's always somewhere in the back of our heads. Even if we don't want to admit it
  3. Granted, but you turn into a pigeon I wish my eyesight would become better
  4. Granted, but his five senses don't work I wish somebody would redecorate my room for me
  5. Granted, but when you stop everyone you love dies I wish I would never become sick
  6. Granted but your lungs are replaced by gills I wish I could make any wish come try
  7. Sorry for having such a misleading name I might decide on changing it sometime because seriously I can't get people's hopes up and crush them like that. Makes me feel like a bad person Well should I start translating at some point I'll make sure to create some sort of not-danny-choo-ish name
  8. I am definitely interested! Count me in I assume this is going to be a lottery? Ps: I wonder if that would cause any problems with the customs in germany lol
  9. Astonishing how many Lolicons there are on these forums I suppose I'm somewhat in the middle class where I don't prefer flat chests but think bigger isn't always better I think bust size is a little overrated anyway, a fully developed woman can habe any size and it doesn't really interfere with the original purpose
  10. Hi Tibor Welcome to Fuwanovel I hope we'll get along well Have you been introduced to reverse engineering? I believe if you really like Visual Novels you could give it a try. I can't speak for myself though, I'm not good with programming
  11. Thanks everybody for being so nice it's really great to know there are so many helpful spirits on here Quite a few people asked me that question already since it's really similar but I must admit that I didn't know him until someone asked me the exact same thing. I've been using Dannyboo as a nickname everywhere on the internet for 8 years now so still before I even knew what Anime was Thanks and yep, that's it. Although I'm taking it a bit easy right now because of final exams at my school. Are you doing the N5 exam anytime soon? Thanks for the lemon! I'll use it wisely
  12. In January I met some Japanese people on a training course for Kendo and there was a party on the last evening. So I sat myself into the group of japanese trying to figure out what they're saying (great practising method is just to listen) but at that point I hadn't understood most of what they said. Well, most of them spoke German as well so I asked them what they were saying and somehow they started translating for me when I needed help and when I asked a question about grammar or vocabulary questions I had they would explain it me cheerfully. I really think there's nothing better than training your language with a native speaker (except for living in that country) and right now I'm upset because I didn't ask them how I could contct them.. Here are the links to all of the 4 books. If that's what you've been looking for. However, don't go and buy them all at once. It is natural if the first one takes you a long time to finish. I finished 3 books of the German series in one year and that's still a bit faster than expected. Maybe you will find someone to help you with your studies but even then, don't be disappointed if it takes you long to complete. I'd rather take longer to learn the whole thing than finishing it quickly and forgetting it just as fast.
  13. I think step by step is a good way to go If you want to find some connections to japanese people, you don't necessarily need to do martial arts I believe. There's also the possibility of going to the nearest japanese embassy and ask about activities that they're planning or maybe some sort of lecture about cultural things or practically anything as long as there're going to be some japanese people. I found that even when you think that there's no one around they start showing up once you start going to places they would find interesting. Like, you may not find a thai in the next supermarket but you would surely find one in the next thai shop. That sort of how it works I think.
  14. Just from the looks and the reviews of those two I'd definitely recommend the first one. It is part of a series of books that will build your language step by step. What is important is that there is an audio cd included. You need to hear how the words are pronounced. I am learning japanese using a similar series of books which I probably can't recommend to you since it is written in german. Another reference for you would probably be an experienced student or a japanese person if you can find one. I find that through Kendo (Japanese Martial Art) I get the oppertunity to find a connection between me and japan and therefore a way to find people who can help me improve my japanese. I've only started learning Japanese a year ago and I don't really know how it is to teach yourself since I specifically have 90 minute lessons once a week but if you're really serious about it I strongly suggest you find somebody who is starting out too. You can keep each other motivated and there's also the possibility of helping each other out. I'd also like to hear other people's opinions about this
  15. Started watching mayo chiki and I'll probably finish it but it's really my taste also re-watching Katekyo Hitman Reborn right now, that's a nice distraction from my everyday life
  16. Thanks for your support I guess I didn't expect it to be easy from the beginning anyway. But it's far more endurable when I'm able to enjoy the process Besides, I think there's more to it than my skills and the expectations of the perverted guys who want their games translated.. In the end it's also for relationships with people who share the same interests and are fun to work with. And I guess I'll also have to endure the kind of people that are not fun to work with but still neccessary But when you want to do this kind of work you're really on your own if you can't find people on the internet that you can share your work with. I don't know anybody of my age who is interested in learning japanese at all so real life is not an option haha
  17. https://osu.ppy.sh/u/dannyboo Feel free to add me Looking forward to meeting you ingame playstyle is tablet + keyboard
  18. Don't worry, I can't expect everyone to write a novel in respone to a novel I'll definitely add Clannad as soon as I can find some disk space haha! I've been shifting Animes and Games around to find some space and I can't afford a new external hard drive right now Thanks! I'll keep up my work and do my best
  19. Hi everybody I'm dannyboo and I recently found this forum while I was looking for a good page to start my translation (career?). That's only in the future though Around one year ago my mother met someone during the time when she was translating live on seminars (eng - ger). It turned out that the other Person translating was a Woman who had lived in Japan for some years and is now an independant teacher who teaches japanese. I am really glad that I had stated my interest in japanese language and culture to my parents a few weeks before that, otherwise we would've maybe never seen this oppertunity. Right now I've been studying/learning Japanese for one year and soon I'll probably be able to pass the N5 levels (JLPT). I really hope that I can become a professional translator for japanese games (be they visual novels or other kinds) and be paid for what I love and enjoy. But as I said, I haven't quite reached the N5 level yet so I'm probably getting a bit ahead of myself but it is really something I would love to do and I'm looking forward to being part of this community even though I'm more the type to observe conversations on forums rather than contributing to them. I became interested in Anime when I was a little kid (I thank god that I was a kid during the times when they still played shounen anime on tv haha). My absolute favorites where of course Dragon Ball Z and it's predecessor Dragon Ball but I didn't quite enjoy GT. My second favorite was Shaman King and I also enjoyed watching Pokemon (but I didn't like the games lol) and Naruto was nice, too. Besides that I was totally entranced by Detective Conan and I would watch it whenever I could no matter how often I had seen that episode already Some years later I was re-introduced to Anime by a friend of mine (he showed me the first few epiosdes of Bleach) and from that point on I became more and more addicted to Anime. I'm the type that likes to rerererererererererewatch the Animes that he loves rather than watch new ones so there aren't like 500 of my favorites I could list now I still want to list some that i really enjoyed though: Hangyaku no Lelouch R1 & R2 - When I watched that one for the first time I was so emotionally screwed at the end (that was during the hard times of puberty where you're emotionally screwed to begin with) Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - That may or may not be a great piece of work depending on different people's opinions but for me it was a great experience (probably because it was the first Anime of that genre and after that I got more used to it?) Shaman King - Kid that runs around with 20kg weights on every ankle and of course defeats every guy that opposes him until he finally defeats the bad guy at the end and becomes the superhero for the next 500 years. All the while being dominated by his fiance whom he promised to marry her if he became shaman king. I enjoyed it Detective Conan - who solves every case no matter how illogical it seems and often it seems more like a who-can-come-up-with-the-craziest-way-to-kill-somebody-but-still-make-it-seem-logical contest Dragon Ball Z - I was glued to the screen for hours and hours just to see him shout AAAAAAAA for 10 more minutes. Clannad - because why. Great story and a happy ending (although I don't mind bad ending as long as they're well written. Zetsuen no Tempest - A recent one for me which leans on to Shakespeares 'The Tempest' and all those unexpected plot twists really keeps it interesting and exciting. But the most important thing for me was that I could identify with some of the characters' personal aspects and that made me enjoy it all the more Steins;Gate - Not much to say here Everyone who knows it loves it and if somebody doesn't like it I can't blame them. You may or may not philosophize why this sentence doesn't make sense! I'm drawing out my introduction but I think there's still something I haven't actually mentioned - VNs. At some point of my Anime filled life I realized that Animes don't always start as Animes (or more like, at this point I can't name one that does) because they all seem to be adapted from a light novel, manga or visual novel before they make their ways into our hearts. So at that time I thought I might try that kind of 'game' out. Now there are two obvious things I really want to state: First - How awe-inspiring the collaboration between art and storystelling can be Second - How frickin' long it takes to read through all that mind blowing story I mean, I may have spent more than 500 hours playing Visual Novels already even though I haven't played that many (I must admit though that quite a few had gameplay in them - like Kamidori - that really keeps you playing for more than just a long while). Right now I'm kind of staying on hold with Grizaya no Kajitsu on the Amane route and others I read are Fate/Stay Night and Dracu-Riot, I also started with Rewrite but right now I'm 'reading' several VNs without making any progress because there are always so many great ones that I'm already looking at a new one before finishing the last. Makes me feel lost. Well, however, I want to be a translator in the future and I hope that I can speed up that progress by doing finding some small projects here on Fuwanovel in the next few years (I don't really think that I am ready for a project yet, so I'll stay put for a few months till a year until I'm confident enough ) That's enough from me and I believe this is a long introduction, I hope those of you who read all of it don't feel like they wasted their time! Feel free to send me messages or something if you want to stay in contact with me. I'm excited to see what the future brings Btw: I'm a guy! Don't get distracted by my profile
