    What’s the status on Hoshimemo

We had some internal issues between the Q/A Team, the translators, the editors and the project manager. Certain aspects that were needed to be clarified with all parties were not and in the end, there were disagreements of stylistic choices of how characters would be portrayed speaking. We tried to find a happy middle ground, but the result was not perfect. We also had the same engine issues that Ley-Line had for its release. We’re looking at fixing the engine issues and revisiting the script along with working with members of the community on how to make sure this is the best release it can be.

This is from Sekai's AMA thread on reddit. They really need to up their management game.

Ehhh...the main translator of both SakuSaku and Hoshimemo's TLs (and now NekoNyan), Akerou (aka Christian Ehrmanntraut) has stated several times that one of the reasons he got into translation was to polish his English, which isn't his first language, as he's German.  That doesn't necessarily mean that everything he produces will be crap, but looking at several parts of Hoshimemo's TL, it makes a lot of sense.  Some of the strange phrases that Fred highlighted in his review, like "I relish in my memories", "spinning on our heels", and "stroke of sharpness", sound like things someone with a sub-par grasp on English would think makes sense.  People that haven't fully mastered a language tend to struggle with idioms, slang, and other parts of a language that are more complicated to learn than the easier, more logical parts, like grammar and sentence structure.

That does paint a pretty bad picture of his involvement in the projects, I admit. But I'd still like to hold on to a glimmer of hope that there was more happening behind the scenes that contributed to the bad quality. That it wasn't all on them. Though, as you said, we'll find out when their first title is released.

Well, I brought it up myself, but I do think you are overreacting a bit. SukaSuka's and Hoshimemo's weren't nearly as bad as Libra's translation. I daresay that if Libra had a translation like those two, it would be deemed absolutely passable for the first release and we wouldn't have any serious debacle about Mikandi.

While that may be true, Libra is a very low-profile title compared to Hoshimemo and SakuSaku. It was also Mikandi's first project, so they had some amount of "sympathy" and could screw up a small amount and still be fine. They screwed up so badly that none of that mattered though, and when a company as experienced as Sekai Project does the same they pretty much deserve the backlash, in my opinion.

Having said that, I do hope the horrible state of Hoshimemo and SakuSaku were mostly the fault of Sekai's management/time contraints and that NekoNyan will deliver better quality now that they're freed of those constraints. Probably wishful thinking, but I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt until I read Fureraba.

I hope mangagamer still releases this, but with Chuablesoft going bankrupt, it might not happen. I wish mangagamer would make some statement about the title, but nothings been said since it entered beta testing months ago.

Oh man. Didn't realize the VN was in such a precarious situation. Hoping Mangagamer's silence on the issue just means they're ironing out the difficulties behind the scenes, like with Bokuten.

  5. Found this while browsing random VNs on vndb a while back:

    R-10 Bomb Girlfriend.

    Quote

If she and I get more than 10 meters apart, the world will explode.

Terrorist group Serpiente has an ingenious method to take over the world:
catch dirty old men with honeytrap bomb-girlfriend Cbeta (<-heroine).

Her lips are the switch that activates the bomb.
But the one who activated them is a regular college guy: me (protagonist)!

"You just had to go and snatch that first kiss, eh!?"

I learned from the terrorist boss that if Sveta and I ever separate more than 10 meters
the bomb will go off and the world will be blown to smithereens---.

"There is a way out. You have to come in. Join Serpiente."

"Yessir. It makes me sicker than a flipping stomach full of rotten cabbage, but I'll do your bidding."

That's how I ended up tethered to my bomb-girlfriend Cbeta,
a minion of the terrorists, while they exploited her as a honeytrap
soldier, with me linked by her side for who knows how long!

Can I save the world in the end?
What's to become of Cbeta and me?

    R-10 Bomb Girlfriend. or...
How I Learned to Stop Worrying and F*ck the Bomb.

  6. roflmao! Not a bug. It's disappointing though because the game felt short and needed Yuuhi and Konami routes to make it "more complete".

Unfortunately Konami doesn't have a route in this game, and you'll have to get the fandisc version for that. Unfortunately that one doesn't have a translation patch but if you understand a tiny bit of Japanese, you can get by using ITH/Translation Aggregator and understand the story since it's quite easy to follow.

Oh, I'm aware. I'm just discreetly voicing my displeasure at Pulltop for continuing the tradition of leaving out the heroines I like best for the fandisc. Happens to me all the time. Most recently perhaps in Princess Evangile, although at least that fandisc is on its way ^^

  7. When I got to the video of Chris beating the snot out of that mass of gangsters, it bugged out, and a message popped up, saying "NeXAS has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I'm getting the same error in Chris' route, but not at a video. It happens every time as Chris says "Awah." when she and Mayucchi are cleaning early in the route. Can't figure out how to get past it.

Edit: ^Oh, it's already fixed? Great! Thanks for getting to it so fast.

  8. Interesting, so it does appear to be reliant on which demons you at least have with you. It must be a value that increases with each battle the demon is with you. Thanks for the clarity on this. By the way, if you are a completionist, I believe there are two more scenes with the Loam. Same CG, just extra scenes that are easily missed. The trigger is probably the same, so if you walk around with the Loams longer you should get them. If you get any other demon type scenes like this, it would be awesome if you let me know.

Thanks for the info, I'll edit it in and give you some well deserved credit ;)

Thanks, but I didn't actually walk around with the Loam. I bought it but never used it, and still got the scenes. I'm on my NG+ right now and got the second scene a few minutes ago. I've bought other female monsters and just have them on the list to see if other events pop up for them.

  9. You can only enter the dungeon floors you have missions for, unfortunately. With the exception of the Demon/Dragon dungeons. They say so in the game when they introduce them.

Also, I didn't get the Loam bathing scene in my first playthrough since I didn't use it. But in my NG+ I had it sitting in my party, not using it in dungeons, and still got the scene randomly after walking around farming mobs for their scenes.

  10. Another question of mine. Since i'm no good in IT stuff i'm curious if new patch is gonna overwrite my actual version or would I have to uninstall it and install new one (meaning loosing all my saves and progress of previous routes). But I guess it's still time to think bout it since work isn't goin that fast..

  11. This comment was unfathomably stupid,so let me ask a very generic question.I searched through older posts and didn't really understand it.Who is this hacker everyone is talking about, and what does he have to do with the TL?Is he trying to ''steal'' the translation and post it as his own?

I think you're misunderstanding the position of "hacker". The hacker is part of the group and does tech stuff like patching and extracting the script from the game for the translators. There is no malicious hacking involved :P
