  1. I too thought it may have just been a preparation notice, but the USPS has it now. No tweet, no annoucement, no tumbl, nuttin'. And here their feed lit up like an xxxmas tree recently (guess the admin's elbow fell off the desk he/she was napping on or something) but still nuttin'. Oh well. I'm thrilled as long as the game works and the quality isn't shite.
  2. So I just got a shipping notification for the physical edition of Seinarukana via JList out of nowhere. Steam page isn't even up yet so I guess the included Steam key will be a "future key" or something. Talk about lack of fanfare. Anyone else have their copy ship? I've been waiting for this game for years so I guess I'm more than a little excited.
  3. Heh heh I attempted to do the same for Duel Savior 'cause I freakin' love that game but Windows 8 was like lol nah.
  4. Haha yeah. I actually don't like Muv Luv Extra at all, but I'm a huge proponent of reading Extra and Unlimited before diving into the superior and ultimately satisfying Alternative.
  5. Halloo So, after a number of minutes troubleshooting this and scouring the Internet, I have arrived at a semi-solid solution for the Muv Luv crashing problems faced when running the game on a Windows 8 platform. I'm posting this year at the risk of repeating the information elsewhere because I nearly tore my hair out trying to find it. The crash purportedly occurs in two places: - on Sumika's date following the food contest - on Sumika's route at the ending credits Obviously, this poses a game-breaking obstacle to unlocking Unlimited. Here are the steps I took to get the game working on multiple machines: 0. Prepare your save just before the crash. 1. Navigate to the Muv Luv Plugins folder. ex. C:\age\マブラヴ11\Plugins 2. Move the mlhookv2.rpo file (cut, no copying) to another location; say, the Desktop. 3. Return to the C:\age\マブラヴ11\ directory and rightclick on the マブラヴ11.exe application, then navigate to the Compatibility tab. 4. Set the following options: - Run in Compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3 - Disable display scaling on high DPI settings - Reduced color mode, and set to 16-bit (65536 color) 5. Run the game - it will be in Japanese now. Fret not. Select the second option from the top, and load your save. 6. You might crash occasionially. This is somewhat expected. Fight on until you navigate to the scene when Takeru, Sumika, and the snot-nosed kid watch the power rangers show at the amusement park. 7. You should be able to navigate successfully past the part where the camera pans upwards to see the fighters standing on the sign. YOU MAY HAVE TO DO THE FOLLOWING: - set it to auto - CTRL-skip - simply click 8. STOP advancing the story once the power rangers appear and save the game. 9. Replace the mlhookv2.rpo back in the Plugins folder. 10. Restart the game (returned to English) and load your latest save. 11. Voila! You may proceed. It is very reasonable to say that this fix will also prevent the game from crashing as Sumika's credits roll, allowing the game to save the completion data. If anyone has problems with this or is also successful, post a reply. I'm curious to see if anyone still can't get past the scene using this ugly trick.
  6. Everybody in general still look like they are only acquaintences of each other rather than close friends. ~~~ Only scene I was interested in seeing animated was YAAAS that scene was so excellent! But then they just obliterated any of the depth from the novel. My fiance just quit the show; she's gonna read the VN when Sekai Project gets the official release out. I just hope they take enough time with Amane, since that's going to be the grand finale. Can't help but wonder if they'll just end it with the mountain scene or if they'll go all the way to Amane's ending. It would be sweet, but after completely butchering the Makina stuff I don't have a lot of hope.
  7. I was realllllly wondering why Amane and Sachi went 0 to 60 in the first episode i.e. lockpick out of nowhere and bomb making out of nowhere, and Yumiko whipped out the box cutter so soon. Then I remembered that the anime reallllllly wanted to draw viewers in as much as possible. So if that means showing a peek of what's in Grisaia's hand, then fine. At least my fiance thinks it's interesting, but we're both super turned-off by the obsessive fanservice. I have hopes. Maybe they'll turn off the panties and turn up the drama. EDIT: oh, and Yuuji? DAYUM. Do he got da booty? He dooooooooooooo. (Hypocritical, maybe, but I'll take a genuine bath scene over an unnecessary panty shot any day muahahahaha)
  8. Thanks for the heads-up! I'll be honesty, my only concern is Seinarukana. I didn't know Arudoc had a blog, though; mind sharing a link?
  9. Did a search and didn't see anything like this, so has anyone heard anything about JASTUSA? I usually check their twitter and site at least once a week, but they're so inactive you'd think everyone involved with them disappeared.
  10. This just occurred to me while rereading Grisaia no Kajitsu, but do you ever get those moments when a character in a VN says something and you go: "EXACTLY!" or "I do that all the time!" Unfortunately, this happened for me when Michiru says, "At times like this, I ALWAYS leave the single most important thing behind, without fail! I, Matsuhima Michiru, am a certifiable genius at forgetting things! Don't forget that!" Because I do forget things. The important things. ALL THE TIME. This is just an example; anyone else have this happen with any character?
  11. Oooh, Mizuha is one of my favorites as well! G-Senjou was so good. For best male I'm a sucker for Grisaia no Kajitsu's protag; I love it when a male protag isn't a complete failure at life but is a total badass: From the ladies side, for me it's gotta be the president of Russia:
  12. I loved every route except Makina's. Amane's actually made me feel guilty for playing the rest of the game; that one's emotional hit for me was really heavy. In order, I'd say Amane->Yumiko->Sachi->Michiru are my favs
  13. Seriously! I love so many of those, but only 10? Damn.
  14. Reviewing Jisei and Fading Hearts for Twinfinite.net; the former is WAY too short, and the latter... actually isn't all that bad.
  15. Sorry, but it's gotta be Claire and Ariel >: D
  16. I think that's pretty much it. I mean, I also loved to-love-ru and Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica and High School DxD (which DOES get beyond the fanservice, they'll just never animate it) and Sora no Otoshimono (which contrasts fanservice and feels so well it hurts), and I pretty much knew exactly what I was in for. I guess I expected something better from the same mind that gave me Double Arts. I also probably just don't find it as funny as other romcoms.
  17. <rant> So, I remember reading the one-shot of Nisekoi way back when. I was really bummin' about the cancellation of Double Arts, and seeing Nisekoi get a great reception really made me happy. Fast forward to now when I had no idea it was already made into a manga let alone an anime, and I recall being pretty pumped for the anime's premiere. I watched the first episode all happy-like, and then the second, and then the third... and then I deleted them all from my computer (I save everything). I just can't stand it anymore. I can't stand characters like Onodera and Ichijou who are wishy-washy, hesitant, and worst of all dishonest about matters of the heart. And it's not that I don't love Romcoms and romances where the characters are slightly less mature; I'm happily devouring Golden Time, Engaged to the Unidentified, and Nagi no Asukara (poor choice of words?). What is probably also factoring in here is that it's an adaptation of a shounen manga. We all know the anime will never end in a satisfactory manner. Ever. I really like the Pilot's Love Song, I really enjoy Chuunibyo, but the specific brand of romance to be found in Nisekoi just doesn't do it for me. Is it a sign of my tastes "maturing" or something like that? I don't think so ('sides, what the hell does that even mean). I remember watching/reading Love Hina and eating that stuff up, knowing that there would be zero romantic developments until the end (I was indeed suprised when volume 12 out of ultimately 14 delivered). Picking up a volume and re-reading it, I still love it. Oh well. Maybe I'll try and come back. I do wonder, though, about the future of my anime watching. Will I be able to enjoy shows similar to Nisekoi? I'm certainly liking Engaged to the Unidentified, and if there's any sort of closure at the end of that anime I'll dig this post up and read it aloud to my fiance. </rant>
  18. With figures, I think the important thing is to make sure that you definitely, super-duper, really really want it. If you're a fan of the anime/manga/game that the figure is from and you've got the spending money, then definitely go for it. Figures can be pricey, but it can be worth it if you want to collect something from your favorite franchise. The most expensive figure I have is probably under $70, and most are cheaper than that. If you're a con-goer, tons of shops have lil' figs that are still really nice, some of them majorly obscure (I managed to snag Touno Akiha from Tsukihime at Otakon last year for $10). All the sites above are great; if you can find something cheap on rightstuf.com or even Amazon, don't hesitate!
  19. For Final Fantasy VI: Oooh, FFVI has a lot of good ones. My fav is probably But ME3 has this one:
  20. Aaaaand just finished Sharin no Kuni, and another contender for Saddest VN moment goes tooooo:
  21. I got this one coming soon! Ikaruga Satsuki from Seinarukana (not the sparkly sword version).
  22. I honestly like JASTUSA. I think the more support the legal localization of VN's there is, the better. Grant it, I don't like them any more than Mangagamer; I have Mangagamer to thank for convincing me to give VN's a try with Shuffle! But yeah, I might learn how to read VN's in Japanese before Seinarukana comes out though according to their Twitter feed they'll have news on it after Stein's;Gate makes it out the door.
  23. Right! Even my fiance couldn't get enough of it.
  24. Aaaand now I'm finally making my way through Sharin no Kuni and good gravy what a game. Sheesh. It totally does. Hang in there!
  25. I actually am in the process of moving to a new condo, and that included the transportation of my figure collection. Only 28-strong, but I like keeping things in good condition so it's quite nerve-wracking :-P. If it's something I'm a fan of, I usually try to get a figure from it - usually only one. SAO and Muv-Luv are the notable exceptions.
