  1. I like it. I know some were worried about the design a while back (due to leaks), but I think it's nice. I think it's the weakest  of playstation line, but not bad. I also like the controller. The price is what has me worried. Either time to save or when it comes out to get a used one (and still save lol). I will say, I've been a PS for a long time. I'd say the PS1 or 4 is the best design (likely PS1), then PS4, and then PS2 and then 3. I hate none of them though. Am excited for the game as well.

For me it was my first anime that I would watch every Saturday night on Adult Swim and kept rewatching it 20 times every time the series reset after the end of the first series, it's a huge part of why I became a anime fan. So far I think the plot idea seems good but at the same idk how to feel about it either because I felt it wrapped up nicely.

I do understand. This is the problem sometimes with sequels. They can go either way. And yeah, Inuyasha was like the for me too. I watched it dubbed first, then subbed. I do like the synopsis, but do worry if I'll like the show. It may not be on par wit Inuyasha, but it can still be good. I do love her work. I still need to read Mao and Rin-ee actually

  3. It's sad no one has replied to this yet, so I will. I am very surprised to see Inuyasha getting a sequel. Honestly, I don't know how to feel. Part of me is happy cause it was my second Anime and first manga, and helped me through a rough time. However, I'm worried about how it'll go. I don't think Rumiko Takahashi is one of the writers, just a consultant, but that's better than her not being there. Then again, much of the old crew is back so it can go either way. I will be optimistic about it and would rather be excited. I do really miss the series, so let's hope for a good sequel.

  4. Unfortunately, from what I know, there aren't many boy's love visual novels translated, especially high school boy's love. There is heaven.neo-romance translation group. But it may not be easy to find the games anymore (and note these aren't official translations.). These are likely exactly what you want, but like I said it may be hard to get them. As for boy's love visual novels, I have some that you may like that are mainly romance. Sadly, they aren't high school.

    Seiyuu Danshi

    https://meyaoi.itch.io/seiyuudanshi

Doesn't have high school guys and is more of a dating sim, but I like how the creator handled the romance. I think the romance is decent and really love the main character. There are five main guys, and two sub character to go for. The sim aspect may take a bit to get use to, but it's worth is. Also, the game if pretty fluffy and not super dramatic. It is 18+ though.

    Camp Buddy

    https://www.blitsgames.com/news/

Not high school setting, but a camp setting. The art is a bit better than Seiyuu Danshi and there is a sort feminine look boy characters option. This game, like Seiyuu Danshi is quite good and long. Has a little bit more drama. There are five guys to date and the romance is good. Frankly, both these games are good if you want romance and mostly fluff. I have others, but it seems what you're looking for is more romance based. Camp Buddy is a pure visual novel, not dating sim elements, but there are two mini games.

    A Hand in the Darkness

    https://ertal-games.itch.io/a-hand-in-the-darkness

This is a EVN and a nice one. It is actually a high school setting. Problem is, I'm not sure if you'd be okay with playing an EVN. Down the line, you may want to give EVN's a try because a decent amount of yaoi games are being made from people outside of Japan. There's also a small sequel for this.

    Mention

    https://herculiongames.itch.io/full-service

I myself do not like Full Service very much due to how barren it feels. It's shallow compared to the previous three in my opinion. But if you like muscular guys, and simple gameplay, you may like it? Try it out if you want. The romance between the guys isn't very good though...

Anyway, there are a few others I know, but these seem to fit what you may be looking for (sort of). I'm sorry that there aren't many high school boy love games yet. Heck, even boy love games are rare. However, some are still being made and they look great. Also, the others I know off are good but you may not like because romance isn't the main point though.

  5. Reading news at first (when this all began), through February. Even now, I stay with the news to a degree, but don't check it often anymore. At this point, I've become very tired...Sleeping is something I do the most sadly. This may be because I have severe depression, and since this began, it's been worse. Suicidal thoughts have remain prevalent recently as well. It's been hard to focus on anime, video games, reading, and writing, along with keeping active. At the moment, I am playing some video games though I hope to read some visual novels, along with watching anime during the nights. Still, it's hard and my depression won't go away. Honestly, if anyone can suggest a good anime and/or visual novel I'm up for it. I'm fine if it's dark a well and read all pairings. It's good to see others doing okay though, or at least finding things to do to calm them and pass the time. For myself, I worry more about my mental state. I am trying though to keep busy.

Maybe... tbh, with me, it is all about the genre.  I would never play a shounen ai or yuri romance, because I have no interest in either... I got that out of my system relatively early on.  I have problems with otomege because almost all protagonists in otomege are damsels in distress (which ups my blood pressure).  However, I'll at least try any fantasy or sci-fi action if the romance doesn't distract from it, lol.

Well, you just pinpointed why I don't play most otome games lol. That's exactly the reason. The reason I went to the other pairings was because I couldn't take them. Now, I will play them should the MC be okay. Same goes with anime with GxB. Sadly, my love for otome games isn't really here anymore. But it got me more into BxG, so I can read those games better now. Like you, I like fantasy and scifi the most, but like slice of life still. But fantasy and even horror are things I like even outside of visual novels. Sadly, there aren't to many fantasy stories =(

While I'm fine with yuri on occasion, my preference is for the standard relationship types (female dominant or male dominant is fine).  Generally speaking, I don't have a strong attachment to romance as a plot element in general, though... so if there are no h-scenes, I can even play shounen ai, lol.

I can understand what you're saying. I'm like that with BxG, but can play anything. Similar to you, I also don't need romance in the story to enjoy it. See I ask this because a poll showed that both men and women preferred Yuri over everything else. I was surprised 0-0. And what you say also is really interesting to. Would more people play BxB, for example, if it was just shounen ai? I wonder.

  8. I'm interested in learning what others really like in terms of pairing. Basically, do you prefer BxG romance or Yuri romance etc. I'm interested because I just saw a poll and saw that both guys and girl really wanted a certain pairing. I was surprised by this honestly. I'm curious to know what type people really like and why.

    guys, pleeeease, use spoiler tags

I haven't read Mashiro's route yet but now I know how it is...

Ah, I'm really sorry. I'm not sure how to do that, but next time I'll make sure not to spoil. It was just hard to explain, though it seems that's not the answer the person was looking for. Really sorry =(

Looks like NekoNyan is working on the perfect edition according to their last update. What's the difference though? did it add or remove anything?

and I'm not going to go thru the other 3 routes, but are there more of a response towards Masaya's and the selected heroine's romance development or do they all just sort of skip past that and accept it begrudgingly like in Misaki's route?

Not sure if I understand your question entirely, but I read Mashiro's route. Oddly, in her route, the game kind of focuses on her more and will switch back to Masaya's point of view. I will say, in the beginning of her route she begins to realize her feelings for him, though struggles on what those feeling are. Eventually Mashiro comes up with a way to tell him, but it doesn't go as planned. After a certain loss though, she goes and cries alone (beliving her love won't come), but Masaya finds her and professes his love for her. This is the first part of her route. Second part focuses on them dating and her match again Masaki.

I haven't read the others yet, but am on the second part of Rika. For Mashiro though, I feel like her love for him is better shown in the first part of her route compared to Rika's. However, I think Masaya wasn't handle to well in terms of the confession because he kind of just randomly says to her he loves her and yet we don't really see that. We see how Mashiro has feelings for him. Same with Rika to a degree, though in her route Masaya shows he's growing to like her. Though, for Rika, we kind of know she's grown to like him. I just wish we could see things from her point of view like we did with Mashiro's route.

Still, I feel like the confession is better with Rika. Masaya's confession with Mashiro felt weird, but their relationship afterwards is okay. Cliche, but okay.

Sorry of this doesn't answer your question though DX. So, to put it simply, for Rika and Mashiro, it doesn't feel like they just went with it and wee see the relationship grow even before the confession. I can see Misaki doing that though, with her begrudgingly accepting.

  11. Np =). And yeah, it does suck that many games don't come to mac. Maybe either play on your old computer if you can or maybe buy a really cheap windows? Vn aren't too difficult to play actually. I have one to play games since sadly mac doesn't do so. But yeah, the game I mentioned are really good and long. But one thing with 07 expansion. Umeniko has two sets of games, one being the answer ark and the question ark. Question ark is the first four stories and the answer arc is the last set. Make sure to play the question arc first. Also, for Higurashi, there are seven episodes out, but one is still needed to be translated. You may want to do Umeniko first, since it's done. Oh, and if you want go here for the 07 expansion games http://07th-mod.com/home/. You can download a patch that will allow you to change the art style if you want, but you'll also get voice acting and non nvl mode. I suggest you try it out because it'll make the game more fun for you =). And for Dc Capo 3, it's super long as well, so these games will give you something to read for a while.

  12. Sorry to say this, but sadly mac doesn't have many Japanese visual novels for it. In fact, the system itself isn't too good for gaming, especially now with the new update. (However I myself with always stick with mac and love it). One JVN that's pretty good that's on mac is DC Capo 3. You can buy it at Mangagamer's site and steam. Another is the 07 expansion games. These are good stories, but unlike DC Capo, don't have much romance. Also, Fatal Twelve, which is a yuri game is good. I'm sure there are some others, but sadly not many are for mac in terms of JVN's. I believe there may be some more, but DC Capo is a big one alnog with 07 expansion games, which are Higurashi and Umeniko

  13. Sadly, I'm not sure this is a good site for you. Many here play BxG and GxG even, but not many play Yaoi games. Though it's fine if you update here cause there are those who will like the info. As with forums, can't think of many too active honestly. Fuwanovel and Lemmesoft are the ones I know, though the latter is not as active. I suggest maybe joining a Boy's Love Reddit or make one of your own. Also, follow also Yaoi creators on twitter maybe? But yes, do have a twitter and try to promote it through other Yaoi focuses places. Forums now are harder to sponsor games on.

ah, right. nurse love addiction series. weeeeeeell, like with regular vns, i rarely read stuff thats all ages. :rimu:

idk what it is but i just rarely do it. maybe i see the sex scenes as some kind of reward at the end of it. despite me saying that, im not a fan of just fan service stuff. grew tired of the sakura games i played very quickly for their large amount of fan service. read a vn in japanese that kind of played out as a yuri nukige but kind of got bored of that as well. i want some build ups! i want meeting characters for the first time and slowly spending time with them until you or the other girl confesses her feelings to you! :miyako:

but hey! thats great to hear about your upcoming titles! :mare: wish you the best of luck and hope you feel better! :wafuu:

I get what you mean with the adult content. It is a reward in away and with me when I read BxB I do sometimes want adult scenes. I don't mind all age versions though or adult. Actually, Yuri titles may be able to do sex better? I've heard some people say that. As for the nurse series, I think you'll like it despite not having adult content. Though, for me, I did love Nurse Syndrome but sadly the mc may get on your nerves a bit.

And it's good to see you say that about the building relationship parts. I like that too. Doesn't have to be a dramatic story but I like when characters actually grow closer during time. Problem with SOL is making the events interesting enough X'D.

But thanks so much for the encouragement. I know a few Yuri developers like me are around, so that's good. I hope though, we can make bigger games with Yuri. I feel like Yuri can be quite romantic

  15. I can agree with you. Yuri games, though good with the ones I've played, don't have many routes. But have you tried Nurse Love Syndrome? There's six routes in that game and it's one of the longest Yuri titles I've played. Also, Nurse Love Addiction has four routes, though I think the former is a bit better. If you haven't played them, maybe give them a try?

Also, what kind of Yuri games are you looking for? With what you listed, it seems you like titles with a good story even if you may want fan service. Also, if you don't want a high school one, maybe go to Star Light Bega. Though I admit, it only has 3 routes, but it is a good story.

I myself am doing a Yuri visual novel with more than seven love interests and even had a decent KS. I also have another game in the works with six love interests. Problem is, I've been sick for a while, so they have been hard to finish. But yeah, I made these games because I wanted more routes, though i know it's a lot.

Anyway, I really think Nurse Love Syndrome is a good fit for you, if you haven't read it yet and even Starlight Vega.

  16. So I dislike certain 18 content. I find it often bad in BxG games (never read an 18 otome game), and to my eyes never advances the story one bit, being only for being to jerk off to. For a while, I didn't care if the game was censored or not. But then with all that's been happening over the years with things like Tumblr and Deviantart, with artists being censored, I'm realizing how censorship can be a problem. But in terms with 18 visual novels, like I've said I've never really cared if they don't have hentai scenes. In fact, I come to think certain people who want them are annoying because they always complain instead of being happy to have a visual novel, and get upset. I always think they should just go to Manga or anime if they want sex. But but at the same time, I get the argument and understand why it can be bad of companies to get get rid of 18 content. I'm someone who likes boys love game and though I play it for story, I'd be upset to if it was censored. So yeah, I do agree if a game has 18 content, just leave it if they can. However, I don't agree with the steam argument. I don't get why, if the 18 version is on another site, why people always have to get upset that steam doesn't have the adult verson, when they can just go buy it somewhere else. Like honestly, this always annoys me.

Also, I think some should realize this is why visual novels have a bad reputation for people and why others may be shy of letting others know they read visual novels. Some think vn's are just porn games and won't try them. I feel like more story centered or plot centered visual novels need to be made both from the Japanese and non Japanese. It's sad these don't sell well compared to straight up porn games though....I feel like if we had better story and character driven visual novels, people would give them more respect.

Another thing that's always concerned me, is why people don't give some positives to English made made visual novels. I mean, I've played some real good ones. People here I get prefer JVN's, and it's sad seeing either negativity about OELVN or people never talking about them. Yeah, there are a good amount of bad ones, but there are also some good ones I think even JVN players should read. I feel like this site would've been perfect to creators looking for critics of their works, but no one really ever looks at those topics. It's sad honesty.

  17. So, I read someone's thread and even responded to them about what to read since they were down. Now it got me thinking about how I may need some things to read. I'm planning soon to read Higurashi and/or Umeniko, but would like some more visual novels of what I should read. Basically I suffer from depression and certain visual novels are good for escape. I haven't read many, nor have finished many, and really only know certain ones, but I'm opening to anything with a good story, characters, and art. I'm fine if it's yaoi, yuri, otome, or BxG. I'm fine if they are light hearted visual novels or drama. Any genre is fine. Not really wanting 18 titles though, but if they are good I will give it a read. I'm a slow reader, so this list will take time.

So yeah, I'm looking for a list of visual novels to read over the next two months or so. They don't have to be super happy and can even be sci fi and mystery. I just need something to help with my anxiety and depression for right now. Been a bad month or so for me.

  18. Hey, sorry you've been going through so much. Trust me, I know the feeling. Been a bad two months for me as well.

But I do have some ideas of what you might like

Wagamama High Spec (High school comedy with romance though it has fan service (not sure if you want that or not) Beautiful art to)

Fureba (Another high school comedy and romance about getting a girlfriend. Not much drama.)

Clannad (High school drama story, may make you cry but it's really good and long. Lots of romance and themes about family.)

Little Busters(Like Clannad in a way, but a little more upbeat to a degree. Like Clannad it's a super long visual novel about romance and friendship, and has some fun mini games.)

Nurse Love Addiction/Nurse Love Syndrome(These are Yuri titles but both are good. I finished the prequel Nurse Love Syndrome and had fun. Romance is okay and you learn about nursing. A little slow though, both these games are.)

Princess Evangeline (School life, romance, and comedy. About a guy going to an all girl school. Art is pretty and the characters are okay. Not much drama.)

Higurashi- (A horror visual novel with elements of high school. Not much romance.)

Umeniko (Made by the same group who did Higruashi. Is a horror and mystery story as well. Just wanted to add something a bit more different just in case you wanted it).

Eb-hime Visual Novels(She's a creator and has done a lot of visual novels, some with romance, some short, some tragedy. Maybe give her a try if you want something short.)

I know this is a basic list and people will have other options, but I feel like some of these are good and will make you feel better.

I wouldn't recommend that. There still were some details that were skipped in the anime adaptation, though, perhaps, not as many as in the later episodes.

Edit. Oh, and you probably shouldn't judge whether you will like the characters in Umineko based on the anime adaptation. I haven't watched it myself, but I heard it was incredibly rushed and completely messed up characterization for most of them. In my opinion, it's actually the characters that make Umineko so great.

Thanks so much for the info. I go in it with an open mind =). I do admit, the anime is bad. I watched it a long time ago and had no idea what was going on lol. But thanks again. Actually, do you also have some other recommendations for visual novels? I've finished a Yuri one about nursing and am looking for something calming. It can have mystery and fantasy to it though.

  20. 54 minutes ago, Dreamysyu said:

I read the VN after watching the anime, and I enjoyed it quite a lot! The first 1.5 episodes were indeed pretty boring, but after that there was always enough of small details that didn't make it into the anime adaptation, and the story is constructed in a way that you only notice some small details after you have completed the story already, so overall I enjoyed reading the VN a lot more than I did watching the anime. The real problem right now is that the translation isn't finished yet, but, well, you already know how it ends so it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

As for whether you should start with Higurashi or Umineko, I's say, just pick yourself what you want to read more. While Umineko is technically considered the sequel to Higurashi, the stories are mostly independent so this doesn't really matter. I personally enjoyed Umineko a bit more, but Higurashi is also pretty great.

Thanks for the info. I know the anime of Umeniko people didn't like too much, but I've heard the vn is much better. For Higurashi, I'll likely like the characters more though. Still, I wanna give it a try down the line, both of them. Should i skip the first episode?
