Then there are things like swearing, which while not common in Japan I would say to some degree very informal speech would be pretty much equivalent to.

No it wouldn't, injecting boorish westerm vulgarities into a non-vulgar speech is not an equivalent of referring to someone informally.

    Example:

"O-omae!" (informal, somewhat disrepectful way of referring to someone by saying "You".)

    Murrican libral translation:

"YOU asshole, I'll fuck your shit up bastard!"

There are so many other KS that have so much larger problems atm so I think that is why there hasn't been that many people talking about this one, I mean it is quite a while until their estimated digital delivery of Irotoridori. Many VN kickstarters still have physicals delayed by years with very little communication.

minori: We always keep minority spirit

ChuableSoft: A medicine for your mind

Frontwing: Every week is Golden Week

  3. Kinda surprised to see that no one here mentioned that Sol Press has dropped the ball on Irotoridori no Sekai by seemingly forgetting about it as soon as it got funded, you can see in the comments that backers are not too happy with the radio silence from Sol Press:

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/solpress/irotoridori-no-sekai-a-visual-novel-by-favorite/comments

Also no words at all from Sol Press about it on their twitter.

VN Kickstarters are always such as mess...

  4. So which is the "True Ending"? Is it:

    Aries (True?) Ending where she

    Spoiler

gets infected by the Lunar Virus by Youichi and pretends to turn into Aoi only to be revealed that she didn't actually turn into Aoi but only got her memories? This is a followup to the "Hinata Aoi" ending, it can be unlocked when you have pretty much done everything else in the game.

    Asuka Ending where she

    Spoiler

has a daughter with Youichi named "Himawari" and kind of end with a cliffhanger where Cosmos shows up in 2055 and meets with Himawari and it's revealed that she is infected with the virus (the reason why is explained in "Another Side") and "her" memories have "returned" and the same will eventually happen to Himawari.

Or is it Aqua's Ending where she

    Spoiler

and Youichi goes to Hawaii or whatever and there's a whole (untranslated) Fandisc dedicated to the expansion of that ending?

Last weekend I finally finished Himawari. This game leaves you with quite a cliffhanger.

It could be much much worse, see ISLAND True End.

What button should I push to get auto-read in Tsukihime? I tried all the A, B, C, D... on my keyboard, I found a few shortcuts, but none of them seem to be for auto-read. F is for Full-Screen, S is to Skip and so and so.

Pressing the "A" key does not work.

Nobody knows? I wanted to play Tsukihime, but lack of auto-read is annoying.

I pushed like almost all of the buttons on my keyboard but NOTHING seem to enable auto-read.

I'm not sure if delaying a game that is release ready for something like 6 months is too healthy for a small VN company.

It's not, here is a quote regarding this matter from the developer of said VN:

    Quote

A week passed... And another... More emails... No replies...

Then, a week before the Steam Summer Sale, they told us they would contact us soon!

But as you can see, we are still waiting...

It's really frustrating because our game is done and ready to sell, and we need the money to pay our bills and taxes so we can keep up working on our projects!

To make things worse, we had to deal with issues like the recent floods in Japan.

But we don't give up! Until Steam let us distribute Bloody Chronicles, we work hard every day on its bonus content.

To be honest, I'm still pretty skeptical that Kotonoha Amrilato will turn out okay. I usually don't fall for the "impossible to translate kamige" meme but the very nature of this game makes it extremely hard to translate. It's not just about overcoming a language barrier, but it's very specifically about approaching and learning Esperanto from the perspective of a Japanese speaker, and the similarities and differences between the two languages. There will be a lot of rewriting involved. Like, a whole lot.

I feel like it's the kind of work that only means anything when read in the language it was originally written in, and that any "proper" translation for it would just be a completely different thing. It's a rather confusing choice of license for MG when you consider that.

The game is apparently also coming out officially in chinese too. Maybe MangaGamer was approached by SukeraSparo rather than the other way around? Their only game was Amrilato so far and it's All-Age, I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted their game to have a worldwide release in all the major languages (which would be Chinese and English).

They even retweeted MangaGamer tweet about the game announcement on their twitter.

They also have another game coming this year called "Itsuka no Memoraĵo", which is a prequel to Amrilato and is All Ages as well.

I am curious about it. If the Japanese developers can't distinguish the difference between good and bad translation, then how do they know which companies to license their VNs or finding skilled translators and editors.

Well THAT'S the problem and why you are seeing so many crappy "official" translations.

  11. 32 minutes ago, Decay said:

Well, it's unknown when exactly they licensed this new one. But the fact that they announced it means that whatever issues they ran into with ChuableSoft's bankruptcy have been cleared up, yeah.

It's interesting that they chose to license a 2nd ChuableSoft title especially one of this size, when they didn't manage to release the first one and see how it would do in terms of sales.

Shoujo Ai is nowhere in Japan used to refer to the yuri genre. Shoujo Ai as a genre is an American thing.
In Japan Shoujo Ai is actually equal to pedophilia so have fun with that. It means that you yourself are in love with young girls (shoujo).

In Japan the term that is more used is "Girls Love", or "GL".

Shoujo Kakumei Utena would be considered as "Girls Love" for example, because it has no sex.

Meanwhile the English version has been pirated over 10k times

Yeah... You can pretty much see that by how the vndb votes are going, tons of votes and it's like in the top 10 of highest rated VNs on vndb, yet only 2-3k people own it on Steam (which include the Kickstarter backers which redeemed their Steam code that they got from pledging for a digital copy of the game on Kickstarter).

Unless a title already reached international renown (such as Steins;Gate, CLANNAD, Umineko) most people probably are only ready to pay big bucks for pure eroges and moeges, rather than story titles such as Subarashiki Hibi, Little Busters, Tokyo Babel, Rewrite, Gahkthun, SeaBed and such.

Isn't that distinction more of a wee... Pardon me, Western otaku thing? I've heard that at least yuri is a catch-all term in Japanese.

Dunno, but Shoujo Ai is a japanese word and is used as actually categories on alot of sites such as manga, anime, visual novels websites, it's certainly more accurate than "Lesbian", which is an english word and isn't very widely used in Japan due to it being considered boorish/vulgar (pronounced "re-zu-bi-en").
