  1. 8.5/10 Don't like the fact one eye is closed, although I do like Guts and in this particular drawing he reminds me of Doomguy.
  2. I would accept my fate as I've never been able to complete EoSD on anything higher than Normal.
  3. The day I can hear a VN's credit theme and not get feels is the day I become a man...

  4. . Indeed. That is one of the reasons why I liked Koi Kaze. And regarding Oreimo, that anime ending pissed me off like no other anime has to this day. And what they did with the VN was well... not the ending we needed, not the ending we wanted, but in the end... it's the ending we got and it's better than nothing. I'm hoping that Yosuga no Sora takes it seriously, but if it was as serious as the shoddy anime adaptation, then meh. It's kinda treated seriously, but I don't think it was as agonizing for the characters as in Koi Kaze, since well, Sora
  5. Besides that, I support creative freedom. AKA if you make a world where transsexual children with a non-conventional ethnicity and/or religion are being graphically tentacle-raped, that is fine by me (I wouldn't like it, but if other people want to create it and show it to the world, that is fine.) but try to send off an actual message trying to offend people and that is just wrong. I don't enjoy things because they are merely controversial, but I might enjoy what MAKES them controversial (Hotline Miami's violence, Binding Of Isaac's Christian themes) Regarding mother/son, that's something that I've never seen/read so I can't exactly comment on it. And regarding sexual arousal, Japan is ... well Japan, so it has everything and anything in those areas. In short, whatever floats your boat. And regarding controversy just for the sake of it... I don't mind it that much, as long as the story is still good (i.e. a character being a minor when he/she could very well be 18).
  6. Well, I wasn't talking about the whole Novel, of course. Just of the routes I mentioned as
  7. So I finished reading Oreimo Tsuzuku Disc 1 about a week ago and just finished watching Koi Kaze. As such, I would like to ask you if you like to watch/read/play things if they have controversial or taboo themes and if just because something has them, you will watch it. As for me, I quite enjoy watching and reading about incest stories and the like. Not just because they are a sort of taboo in modern society, but also because those love stories resonate with me a lot. I particularly enjoy stories of incest and similar themes mainly due to finding those love stories the most touching, since it will basically mean that two people will have to face the whole of society to defend their love and what they treasure most. Here are a few examples: As for Koi Kaze: Saya no Uta: Hoshizora no Memoria: I would also speak of Yosuga no Sora, but I am still waiting for the translation and although I watched the anime, I find it tried to do too much with too little time and many things remained unsaid and cut out. Additionaly, I will not coment on Oreimo Tsuzuku or Oreimo in general, as I'm still wating for the translation of Disc 2. So in short, I'm a platonic beta fgt sucker for Pure Love Stories and especially if they are about contesting/breaking society norms and taboos. Regarding my "moral" boundaries, I've gone as far as thinking that there might be love involved in things like Boku no Pico (at least in the first episode), so take that as you will. What are your opinions regarding topics such as the ones I mentioned? Do you enjoy them or are they too much for you? Also, feel free to mention more material like the ones I commented on as I'm still wondering what to watch next.
  8. True. Who doesn't? Next person finds college boring, but attends because they want a good paying job.
  9. I don't have any specific conditions for playing Novels. I might read them with other people in the room if they are all-ages and if not, I just alt+tab really fast to avoid scandals or just play them when I'm alone and nobody else is awake. I read with headphones on, but I do everything with them on so I don't think it counts.
  10. True. Next person has or has had existential doubts about his future.
  11. If we are talking physically, my biggest weak spot is Aryans (short or tall), but that's not the question. Regarding something more platonic, I've been told I'm quite the demanding fellow. If somebody was to woo me, all it would take was treating me as more than a mere acquaintance/colleague and you have my attention. If we were to take the next step, I'd say be prepared to witness what might seem as a borderline psychotic person when it comes to the people I don't like or harbor a grudge against, be prepared for hearing very dark and/or perverse jokes, me sometimes going jealous or territorial on you (because it would be my first romantic relationship), complete reluctance to go clubbing or to similar places (I can handle being in bars, but I don't like it that much), I most likely will not consume any type of alcoholic beverages and the fact that I am a guy who doesn't like to travel that much and prefers to stay at home relaxing on his computer and the worst of all: That I am a very mean Scrooge when it comes to my own money (and possibly yours...). That's basically the whole thing.... ... .......... ......................... I will most likely become a wizard....
  12. Most of the ridiculous doujin titles are things that while I see the titles, the doujinshi itself does not interest me, so I don't read and end up forgetting the title. A recent title I found funny as hell was "My Yandere Little Brother Can't Be This Cute".
  13. Of course, the mobile market is rising and will not stop in the near future. Visual Novels are already on handhelds to a certain extent with the PSP/Vita and Nintendo DS, albeit having to whip out a portable console to read a book is much more of a hassle than just looking at your phone (something you were most likely already doing) and reading a Novel as an App. There are some available, although the ones I tried were like a year ago and were exclusively Otome games without a lot of content or substance. While Novels are already "portable", they aren't in most popular way, and getting a translated Visual Novel for your portable console is still something that doesn't happen very often (I'm not aware of the selection of translated Novels on the PSP and DS, so don't quote me on that). Being on mobiles is one of the best ways to gain attention right now, and hey, that's why even good old "Camaraderie, adventure and steel on steel (...)" is available on mobile phones and tablets now, right?
  14. Well, I can see where you're coming from and I think you stated valid points. However, I disagree that movies and books can do the same thing as VNs. This is just my own perspective and experience, but here is why I prefer Novels to reading books (I don't read books, unless they are mandatory for courses) and to cinema (nowadays, it's like books; if I don't have to watch one for college, I watch one like... once in a blue moon): Disclamer: This is my opinion, not facts nor dogma. If this doesn't apply to you, that's fine. This is all based on my experience and yours might be different. 1. The array of choices available: In Visual Novels, you can decide which character you want to get closer to. While it is like books or films, where the options are bound to what the writer gives you, I usually find that Novels give you more proximity to the cast and their stories, causing a bigger attachment, This ties in with the power of choice in terms of Bad Ends. In films or books (if it's not a "your own adventure" book), everything is linear in the sense that you merely watch and don't participate in the story. In most Novels, you have to make choices which can have far reaching consequences in terms of the story; for example, choosing A over B might cause a Bad End, thus leaving you with a feeling of having screwed up, being responsable for the character's misery and outcome. 2. The product of many mediums One of the main things that sets Novels apart from books in my opinion, is the combination of many tools to create something more. Having a CG to help visualise what is happening and the character's expressions causes bigger empathy and emotional reaction from the reader. Secondly, having music which was purposely produced for those moments helps the experience, it creates a different reaction on the reader than if you were just reading words on a sheet of paper. Finally, the voice acting helps the reader in terms of attachment to the characters. By actually verbally expressing what is going on and how they are feeling, more impact can be caused with a scene or moment. 3. How a big a time investment is necessary Now this one is more directed at films and shows, as books can be as big as a Visual Novel or even bigger, and might have more chance to start a saga/continuity than a single Novel. In a film, you get on average two hours duration. This is enough time to cause an impact on a person, and even make it a memorable experience for the viewer. The average Visual Novel has a duration of 10-30 hours of reading (using VNDB criteria and not accounting for the reader's reading speed), which allows for longer interaction, more exposition, more moments to share and bonds to make, things that intend to nurture the Novel-Reader relationship. This will allow for a more developed and fundamented story and characters, which enhance the experience and how attached the reader is when he reaches the end of the Novel. These are a few that come to mind.
  15. Initiate smooth talker mode, while attempting to concentrate on keeping eye contact while talking.
  16. Title. I can't help but wonder if the VN community/readers in general are few and far between. I've seen many stances regarding Novels such as the usual "Everything is porn" or "omg, boring, go watch anime instead.". When I explained what Novels were to a couple of friends, they instantly began to abhorre them and think they are a waste of time (one even said I ruined Fate/Zero for him because I showed him where Fate/Stay Night came from). Anway, do you believe there is a big global market for Visual Novels? And how many people do you think read them for the F/SNs, the Muv Luvs, the Rewrites, Clannads,etc...? Are most of the readers in it for the Nukiges? I don't mind if no actual numbers are posted, just give your opinions and assumptions.
  17. Spoilers for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater And to stay on topic, here are a few more feels...
  18. Here's to hoping they do it fast or in worst case scenario, that it's like Fate/Hollow Ataraxia that had monthly updates of going from 95,5% to 95,6%....
  19. Read the sign, then proceed to speak about how they know nothing of lewdness... and demonstrate true lewdness to them.
  20. 8/10 Makes me think of a person who is both refined and composed, but will reveal her true psycho self when things get real.
  21. Yeah, I've been waiting for a long time as well now. But what happens is I usually forget about it and check up on the TL progress a few months later to see if it changed. Did you start wating before the original anime or Refrain? I started waiting mostly after I began watching the first season. Haven't watched Refrain due to wanting to read it instead, plus I've always heard wonders about Saya and her route.
  22. I think I found Fuwanovel shortly after beginning to read Novels entirely, but the first thing I downloaded from the website (IIRC, don't quite remember which one it was exactly) was Rewrite, back when Amaterasu had just released their Common Route patch. As to how, I believe it was a friend of mine who told me about it, due to it's selection of translated Novels and torrents.
  23. I've seen many I'd wish were translated, but as for ones that had an actual translation in progress and then stopped... indubitably has to be the Code Geass: Lost Colors translation.
