  1. Just finished Steins; Gate last night and the movie today of which I've put off for quite a while.

Time travel is actually one of the only things I usually like from Sci-Fi oriented shows, the way S;G expresses the uncertainty and inconsistencies of using time travel is amazing. Though, my real admiration is of the characters and their relation to time. Okabe is probably one of my favorite protagonists of all time. Just the way he reacts to situations and conversations with his colorful personality is priceless.

Oh, and best girl is of course Christina for being a good tsundere.

So when i am forever with her in the classroom and i delete her file, i get credits? But i really don't wanna do that, it would mean going against my feelings and making all the sacrifices useless :(

    Spoiler

Then simply don't. You don't have to finish it, you could just leave it at that, but you wouldn't get the full experience, or be able to get the other ending text.

This is pretty funny actually. i was going into this game totally blind, and i wanted to go for Monika. That's what i did. I did not lose my hope after Sayori got deleted. I kept doing everthing for Monika, all the time. It took me to "start" the game 3 times, while doing nothing with the files. When Yuri kills herself, Monika should be waiting for you to try to load a save file, and after doing that, the loop ends, and then you go on, i don't wanna say more, as it would spoil it, but i eneded up probably om Monika's route, which was my goal from the very start. Idk if you get it naturally, or there are some flags that trigger it along the game, but seems like i stayed true to my feelings and got rid of all other girls to achieve Monika's ending. Which i don't really know if is just a bonus one that i somehow got without manipulating with the files or is the True ending. But I have a pretty mixed feelings about it, as i'm no able to do any other route now, but i came to like Monika so much that i can't bring myself to delete her or reset the whole game just for some other cliched girls.

I'd pretty much like to know if there is anyone else who reached this ending, and possible tell me which one is that

    Spoiler

That's the only ending really, there is a "good ending" that you can get, but it doesn't change too much, still worth it though. Actually, you aren't done yet, you have to delete her character file to continue to the credits.

Unvoiced overrated EVN ... Read it like for two or perhaps three hours and then just started skipping till the end ... The twist might be interesting to some people, and yeah, maybe you could say it's a unique VN. Yeah, it's better than your daily Sakura -insert random noun here- but at the end I could only say it's just a decent EVN. There was some effort invested into it but the poor side effects, unvoiced, mediocre art, uninspiring BGM, all of it makes the final twist not so impactful as I'd want it to be. I heard that there's a JP VN with the same twist and that's the one I'd like to read more than this "EVN kamige".

You could argue that the poor effects added to the atmosphere of, "something is definitely off here," because they're so rudimentary. It being unvoiced, the art being mediocre and the BGM being uninspiring are all subjective, I feel that they were made to somewhat resemble what the average VN has, in order to impact the player more when the twist happens. It's also free and way more accessible for people who don't know how to read or speak Japanese. All things considered, it's definitely not a kamige, but it's way better than most. At least better than just decent.

I'm enjoying it a lot. Still on my third poem and on Yuri's path (I think). I agree with the people above, it is not the best writing in VNs, but it is still pretty good, and the outstanding art gets my attention more than the text.

And I laugh every time Monika makes a 4th-wall-breaking joke.

You have yet to see the greatest part of all, I pity you for what's to come.

That was my favorite line too.

  6. So, I played and finished the game this morning with a buddy of mine, and hoooooooo boy, there's a lot to talk about.

If you aren't familiar with the game, it just released on Steam on Oct. 6, 2 days before this post. Here's the steam page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/698780/Doki_Doki_Literature_Club/

So at first glance, it looks pretty moe, right? Then you see the warning: "This game is not suitable for children or those who are easily disturbed."
Now, what could that mean? Such a cutesy, moe, romance visual novel has such a dark warning. This game is very different from what you'd expect, and it's such a unique experience. I'd recommend you definitely play it when you have the time, it's free after all.

Now, to those of you who have played this game already, here's a thread for discussion if you'd like to discuss things. This is mostly just to notify people about the game, but discussion is welcome.

  7. I currently have four anime lined up this season: Shokugeki S3, Kekkai Sensen S2, Inuyashiki and Ousama Game.

Inuyashiki is by the same author as Gantz, so I thought I'd check this one out since I enjoyed Gantz a lot.

My expectations aren't too high, but I hope Ousama Game delivers the thrills from death games I've come to love.

The Fire Emblem series has seen an awakening of sorts outside of Japan

I see what you did there.

To answer some of those questions...

I've completed Shadow Dragon and Mystery of the Emblem, I've played through a good amount of both Fire Emblem, and Awakening.

Favorite characters? no one has really struck me as being my favorite, though there have been a lot of characters I liked. My favorite class though, would be Myrmidon. Their high speed is marvelous.

My first game was actually Shadow Dragon, which apparently is called a "bad" game in the series, particularly for it's lack of character development besides Marth and some others. Still, it managed to get me hooked to play some of the other games.

My taste is too trash to name any waifus. not many of them stand out as good to me.

I usually play the games on Classic, there's no point for me if the risk is taken away (though I just restart anyway because 'tis too sad), and I also play on hard to have some challenge.

Favorite game would probably be Mystery of the Emblem for a particular moment that I had in the game. I was at the final boss trying to keep everyone alive, but no matter what way I did it someone had to die for me to win, I played this scenario in so many different ways for what had to be 2 hours at least. Eventually, I tried leveling Marth up to see if I could get him to do more damage to the boss so he'd live through the battle. I already did enough damage to secure the win, but Marth did a critical hit on the last hit in the game which made it so much more epic that I felt super fulfilled for trying so hard to save everyone.

The thing I like most about the Fire Emblem games, is building up your army through recruiting people in the battles you fight, some may be bystanders, allies who join your cause to back you up, or even enemies who can be persuaded by a certain character and avoid a grisly death. The strategy and character interactions in the games is also a big plus.

(and I'm playing in English; no one will take away my dear Matt Mercer)

I didn't even notice Yusuke was voiced by Matt Mercer until you mentioned that. All before this point I was like, "Man, I really like Yusuke's English voice. Wonder why."

Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well. :makina:

Anyway, do you guys date all the heroine or just one?

Because, you know, I remember that guilty feeling in p4 val day :notlikemiya:

Culture is a rare thing these days, but I have it in spades.

I prefer to just go for one. It's pretty hard when there are so many good choices this time around. I might follow through with my initial interest in Futaba though.

  11. Is it weird that every time I see "calling card" I read "run through the dungeon destroying any Shadows that get in the way all the way to the boss with badass music playing"?

I have a dilemma. On Normal, the bosses are too easy, but on Hard, the bosses are too hard. What do?
