    Chuuni Hime no Teikoku

Now, this is one of those games where the Getchu description and the one on the site don't represent the reality. First, this game is a straight-out comedy. The protagonist is a 'classic baka', a character who is easily distracted, daydreams about convenient scenarios with cute females, and generally makes trouble without meaning to. Because of his perspective, the game is pretty high pace (and not really in a good way). The heroines include: Chuuni Hime- A real princess from another world who is the master of the renovated love hotel that is the central stage for the story. She is apparently a genius and a great leader... but you would never be able to tell that from the pictures of her daily life. She is a heavy gamer (doesn't leave her room for days at a time), and she has little interest in fulfilling her stated purpose for coming to Earth. She has a real name, but nobody uses it. Lagunaseca- Chuuni Hime's dark elven maid. She is a workaholic. Seriously, that is literally the entirety of her personality. Her only reason for living is to give of herself to others, so she is literally incapable of considering a life outside of service. She works several part-time jobs to feed the princess, and she only sleeps three hours a day. Stella- Stella is a rather naive young knight from the same world as Chuuni Hime and in her direct service. She was raised on stories of female knights being raped by tentacles and orcs, along with falls into pleasure and mind break, and as a result, she is extremely... weak. She is terrible with a sword... so much so that she is liable to trip over it when she tries to draw it out. Since she came to Earth, she has become a light novel author, and when her editor gets onto her, she locks herself in a defunct fridge. Suzuka- The only earthling amongst the heroines (ironically so) and the protagonist's childhood friend. She has a terrible case of chuunibyou (think wearing a black cape in summer and transforming her room into an alchemist's workshop), and... that is about the entirety of her personality. Unless you get on her route, she is almost a non-entity throughout the game. I'm going to be blunt... this game actually starts out fairly well, but as a whole, it is very... not worth the money I put down for it. The first reason is the writing. For some reason, this writer fails utterly to do anything other than the comedy right. Even momentarily serious or romantic scenes flop (at least partly because Masaki doesn't have the brains to carry those scenes off right) badly, and because of that, it becomes hard to even enjoy the humorous scenes. The second reason is the artwork. I'm going to be blunt... this game's CG's and sprites are very... low budget. It isn't noticeable for a non-art-bigot such as myself at first, but it became bloody obvious when it came to the h-scenes and the few scenes granted a CG. If this game had been made in 2008, I probably wouldn't have noticed anything wrong, but for a game that is being sold at right about the average price for a VN on today's commercial market, that is a huge downer. The third, and probably the most fatal reason, is the music and voice acting. The soundtrack for this game is... terrible. However, that could be forgiven if it weren't for the unusual fact that this game's makers managed to botch the voice-acting. Most of the voices in this game are horrible, with the notable exceptions of Chuuni Hime and Suzuka. I'm going to be blunt... considering how long ago they announced this game, it is ridiculous that this low level of quality in an area where the industry standard is about as level as it is possible for what is essentially an 'art' can even exist. All of the VAs are established names, so it is silly to make excuses about the quality of the actors. No, this had to be a massive direction and/or production failure. My conclusion is that, while the concept wasn't bad, the execution for this game was downright horrible.

    dropping for now: IxShe Tell

I honestly normally wouldn't bother explaining why I choose not to play a given VN in a given month, but with Hooksoft games, given their rather high popularity, there is a real need for me to say something. First, I don't like Hooksoft games. They are written well, are visually pretty, and generally have moe-stimulating heroines. However, they are also perfect examples of every reason I can find not to bother with the genre at times. The characters are cute, there is plenty of ichaicha and slice of life... and the protagonists, no matter their role, are always just 'normal guys'. This game, in particular, managed to make me lose interest inside the prologue, where most VNs manage to catch my interest. The simple reason is that the protagonist's accomplishments have already occurred in the past, and all that is left is for him to literally pick one of the girls from his harem of the school's best beauties. To me, this felt right off the bat like a cheap excuse to avoid relationship formation issues. Within the first thirty minutes, all of the girls have confessed their love to him, on one level or another, and he is put into the position of picking one of them. I'm going to say this straight out... I loathe this pattern. If they'd gone through the student council election campaign in the prologue and hit this in the first or second chapter, I probably woold have been willing to forgive a lot more, but the decision to start in the middle of things was a seriously poor one in this case. As such, I absolutely had to drop this one, as it kept putting me to sleep.

  3. Introduction Welcome, fellow Fuwamembers, to the FuwaRecognition thread. Starting this March, we’ll be highlighting some of the best contributions made by our members each month. From snazzy blog articles to delicious forum threads, and perhaps even a few things more on the shitpost part of the spectrum, we'll keep an eye out for the cream of the crop. And then we'll gather them here. Just for you. *holds up giant APPLAUSE sign* A-hem, so this is the first time we're doing this and it might be a bit rough; next time will be at the end of March. Anyways; without further ado, let's get to our highlights. By @Zakamutt. Threads Our first highlight on threads comes from two Ask Me Anything topics posted in the span of this month: from our dear provisional Tay, @Kaguya, and from the anti-moege task force founder himself, the saltlord himself @VirginSmasher. It’s now Kags’ fifth year on these dear forums, and members of new ’n old had a lot of questions, climbing over to 50 comments, almost unheard of in this day and age of lacklustre forum interaction. Even after the glory days of lolis long passed, Kaguya still swears close to his heart how they indeed are the master-race that rule over this weeb-dom, mostly in nukige form. Charming. @VirginSmasher’s AMA, on the other hand, is mostly an appreciation of past glory and his good friends, met before he died out, but he also remembered some newer members who are already becoming an integral part of these forums of today. Quite a lot of internal banter and jokes flew here and there, but it is quite touching to see even older members returning from long breaks of apparent irremovable death. As you might have seen, we have a new EVN on the horizon, or rather, KickStarter: One Last Crane, developed by @Blissful-Works This visual novel is being developed by an Indonesian team with some members over at Tokyo, Japan, and it has a an odd goal amount of 10,052 dollars, though this is due the publicization of the project being handled from Japan, which also makes the whole project page ask all money in yens. A risky play, let’s see if it pays out for them. The novel is planned on being released for four languages: English, Japanese, Chinese, and Indonesian. Quite the amount for still quite a small goal, but we’ll have to see how it pans out in the end, at least they are in no shortage of ambition. While the art-style itself is quite generic, it does look modern and does its job as presentation well enough, not to mention that the KickStarter page itself is quite stylish, but only time will tell how it’ll go over. All we can do is wait. @EastCoastDrifter has done something unique on the forums that no one would even think of. He loves space, and he has extended his love to the members of the Fuwanovel community by creating a Fuwanovel Solar System. Using a program called Space Engine, Drifter has taken the liberty to name all planets in this system after very prominent Fuwamembers. It’s a great tribute to the community and you should really check it out. Furthermore, Drifter says he’s not done, and has plans to create more Fuwa solar systems to feature more members in the future. If you want a planet named after you, feel free to post in the linked thread or contact Drifter personally. By @Arcadeotic and @EastCoastDrifter. Blogs Hi I'm Zaka and I'm the only one that cares about blogs on the team. Maybe. I didn't actually ask the other guys. Shit. So uhh, here's my recs... @Clephas writes accessibly about (for the most part) untranslated Japanese visual novels. This time, we have some posts about the recently released third VN in the Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru series, of which the first actually has a translation by MangaGamer. Unfortunately, the second is where people think it actually got good. We start with a more general note on the series, then move on to a review of Otoboku 3 itself. While Clephas has been writing for quite a while, @MaggieROBOT is a bit newer to the scene. She focuses on Otome and BL VNs, and for this post we'd like to show you her post on an upcoming BL visual novel (fresh from the pot, baby. That thing is probably the first blog post to come right after this one. Oh yeah. That's how we roll. - Kaguya) as well as her review of the robot-romance Otome VN Sakuya. Go ahead and look for her post complaining about a trap in a moege not having a route if you like things on the more humorous side of the spectrum Just For Fun! During the process of writing this post. Well you know I’m all about that nepotism baby. That's right, this is just for you. Rising 1.8% female readership (thanks Maggie) local GM and blog post connoisseur Kaguya here. To close the blog review section up, we’ll be highlighting the post where I wonderfully delve into the mind of writer Setoguchi Ren’ya, explaining his past and his involvements with the little-known work The Shawshank Redemption as well as how that work affected the VN industry, finishing things with a bang as I explain his history and the hidden messages within Swan Song. And finishing things off in a suitable grand scale, much like a writer who traps himself into writing continuously larger powerlevels until his shounen manga gets to a point where it doesn't even resemble the original, we will be looking at two posts made by Fuwanovel's current closest figure to Jesus, @Kiriririri (Who unlike our creator, did revive. How about that?) He died for our sins as he bravely made two deep posts about the current state of the VN community that were completely hidden by the evil staff... Until now. Gaze upon them and marvel, this is the true work of a genius!! February is over. We bled. We sweat. Friendships were broken and renewed, and old members revived from their graves and mingled with the new pringles to take us where we are now. And the community persists, as glorious as ever. March is here. And in this rewind, I declare FebruaryFuwa absolutely Fabulous!

  4. Visual Novel Translation Status (03/04/2018) As for the title, since we have two eccentric VNs from Sekai at this week, I just combined both of 'Creature Romance' and 'Girl in Glasses' into 'Meganekko Romance' (TL Note: Meganekko literally mean Girls in Glasses). Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and compared to the last week we didn't have many interesting release (Other than those two Sekai VN that I mentioned), but of course we still have some updates for this week like usual with some surprise. Now let's see what I could write for this week as well. As for the surprise update, we finally have JAST ready for another VN release. Although unfortunately it wasn't Flowers Summer though, so I'm more or less just think not much about that ie not interested. The VN in question was Sweet Home, and from the record apparently it's already in process for years since when it picked up back at 2013 - at least it only took almost 5 years to be released lol. From the premise, we have MC who back to his house because his old apartment was burnt, only to find out that his house was became the girls boarding house. Long story short, the MC who is an university student managed to stay and his house and get steamy with the girls as well. Yeah this is nukige all right, and that's another reason of why I didn't interested with the release - JAST usual release pattern didn't help at all. At least they also already did have the exact date for the release, which is at May 1st later - also ready for pre order as well. From Sekai, once again we have both Creature Romance and Girls in Glasses released. As for my comment at least the latter (Girls in Glasses) was more in line with normal VN, even though the girls were wearing the glasses (Duh). While for the former (Creature Romance), what I can say is that maybe it could be appealing for the people who somehow managed to develop a fetish to grasshopper, because our main heroine was looks like a grasshopper only that it's a human size as well - to each of their own I suppose. There's also another update from Sekai in which at least they managed to address the untranslated text problem from Tokeijikake, which at least it good that Sekai try to be responsible about their mistake. Apparently there's a bug that still persist in the new engine that caused the problem, so obviously I would suggest Sekai to do another QC before the release. Although apparently they ignore that bug though back when it was reported by their QC staff, so I don't know what to say. I just hope that they won't repeat that mistake in the future for both of Daybreak and Morning Mist. As for Frontwing's Momoclo KS, right now they managed to gather 25,918 out of necessary 35,000 funds or in percentage it would be Momoclo was at 74% funded with 17 days left, so at least it goes well for now. For Newton VN, right now common route was at 89% translated and Haru's route was fully translated (Lavi's route was fully edited as well), and fir the next plan they'll work on Emmy's route. Other than both of Momoclo KS and Newton VN, we have Nekonyan announced the exact release date for Fureraba which is at 30th later and coincidentally it will be at Good Friday, so at least we can treat Fureraba release as the Easter gift from Nekonyan. There's also another surprise from NekoNyan, in which they'll also translated the fandisc as well and it'll be available at this year as well (They'll give it for free to anyone else who buy Fureraba from NekoNyan's site). For more information, other than NekoNyan's site Fureraba will also available at both of Nutaku and Fakku while unfortunately there's still no Steam release at the same time. The reason was because of Germany bureaucracy according to NekoNyan post (Understandable), and therefore Fureraba Steam release will be delayed for a few weeks. For fan translation, right now Eustia was at 35.23% translation and 22.87% TLC-ed - they finally begin with Colette's arc work with the current progress for that arc was at 4.56% translated. For more roundup we have Loverable was at past three quarter (75.33%) TLC-ed, Musumaker was at 49.6% translated, Shin Koihime Musou was at 92% translated along with 19% edited, Pure Pure was at 63.19% translated with Chapter 4 was at 39.44% translated, Tsukiotoshi was at a quarter translated, and Witch Garden was at 39% translated. As for Tsujidou, right now Renna's route was at 72.1% translated and overall was at 93.57% translated - for the info Trip was quite busy for last two weeks, so the progress didn't increase much. Other than usual updates, there's another VN that have was translated recently (Also about to be release at around this month) and that VN is nukige pseudo NTR or something like that - I just realized the project today lol. We also have another update from LxC 2, in which Quof was mostly finished with Hime's route but unfortunately right now he need to do programming work for Hime's patch, so the translation for next route will be stalled. For the last update, we have surprise Nanatsuiro Drop partial patch release which translate the first two episodes of common route, which obviously is a very small part of the VN itself. Go get the patch at Doki Fansub, and for my personal comment I hope that they'll manage to fully translate Natsuiro later. That's all for this week VNTS Review from mine, and see you next week.
