"FuwaResearch #01 - In what direction your WC's water spins?"

Well... Together with Wolfscythe we were wondering about the "Coriolis Effect" and decided to conduct a simple experiment.

We went to the bathroom, then flush the toilet to see in what directions the water spins.

In our first attempt, we were confused about the truthfulness of that effect, because the water did spin in random directions, but after that we figured it out that the thing that matters is the spinning direction of the whirl, not the water.

So... For the sake of psyence, who offers to be the next person to try it? You just have to see in what direction the whirl spins then, post the results here.

• If you live in the northern side, the whirl should spin clockwise.
• If you live in the southern side, the whirl should spin counter-clockwise.

If anybody wonders about how we ended doing that...

South side reporting in. I think it span counter-clockwise, but our toilets don't have a whole lot of spinning going on so it was hard to tell >.>

Isn't this a myth? The whole thing about the Coriolis force being able to affect the spin of the water when you flush the toilet, I mean. As far as I know it is in fact possible for the earth's rotation to have an effect on the spin the water, but you would basically need to flush a small lake in order for the Coriolis force to be strong enough to affect its direction.

Instructions weren't clear enough. Got stuck on the toilet and had to call the firemen to get out.

 

Though i do recall the water flushing somewhat clockwise. It was hard to tell. (I'm from the north side by the way)
