  1. Hey, do any of you guys play tabletop games? Things like Dungeons and Dragons, card games, or board games? Sovereign made me realize we haven't talked about this yet. I'd love to hear who plays what and why!

Wow dungeons and dragons, I remember getting the first Monster Manual as a gift. Still have it actually. Tried playing a couple times but I was never 100% into it. Had a lot of friends that were though. They keep telling me my old books are worth money. I doubt it though but they are in new condition. Well newish

  2. I don't know if the anime I've watched is "Non-Mainstream"

But umm hmmm here are some animes I've yet to discuss with anyone which leads me to think they're underground.

    Baccano

Durarara (My first anime. And with it came a life lesson, loved it, rewatched it plenty I don't even remember how many times now xD)

Ano Natsu de Matteru (Was a pretty funny anime imo, kinda cliche, I'd still recommend it to people that don't usually watch anime though)

Yuri yuri (1st season just made me LAWL so hard, it's loli's + yuri action + that blonde girl with the rum raisin ice cream = hilllarious, I think people dont discuss it cause well...yea the aforementioned lol)

Listen girls im your father (Made me want to be a bum just to struggle like he did, loved it, never talked to anyone about it though, actually i doubt its underground.)

YuriYuri=great comedy for sure!! great anime!!

  3. Been falling behind in this series cause of drving lessons and medical appointments. Just watched the latest episode and...

    hahaha wow.

Read the LN if you really want to get angry lol.

  4. Oh wait, one more my wife just mentioned. (Thanks Kotomi)

Natsume Yuujinchou: Plot Summary: Natsume Takashi has the ability to see spirits, which he has long kept secret. However, once he inherits a strange book that belonged to his deceased grandmother, Reiko, he discovers the reason why spirits surround him. Containing the names of these spirits, a binding contract was formed between the spirits and the owner of the book. Now, Natsume is determined to free the spirits and dissolve the contracts. With the help of a spirit cat, his days are filled trying to return the names to these spirits.

I realize that season 4 (i think) came out last year but threr have been 4 seasons of a show that is both light-hearted and tender. Very AMAZING slice of life anime.

  5. Whoop good one!!

Reserved till I get home (on phone ATM)

    Ok, hmmm, where to start...

Ushio & Tora : Plot Summary: Ushio thinks his father’s tale of an ancient demon is nuts, but when he finds the monster in his own basement, Ushio has to take another look at the family legend.

10 episode OVA that is action, adventure, comedy, horror, supernatural and 100% kick ass. You wil laugh your ass off.

Beet the Vandel Buster : Plot Summary: It is the dark century and the people are suffering under the rule of the devil, Vandel, who is able to manipulate monsters. The Vandel Busters are a group of people who hunt these devils, and among them, the Zenon Squad is known to be the strongest busters on the continent. A young boy, Beet, dreams of joining the Zenon Squad. However, one day, as a result of Beet's fault, the Zenon squad was defeated by the devil, Beltose. The five dying busters sacrificed their life power into their five weapons, Saiga. After giving their weapons to Beet, they passed away. Years have passed since then and the young Vandel Buster, Beet, begins his adventure to carry out the Zenon Squad's will to put an end to the dark century.

This is a unknown anime that NEEDS and MUST be seen by all. 52 Episodes of pure AWESOME!!

Zombie Loan : Plot Summary: Michiru Kita is a special girl who possesses Shinigami Eyes, which allows her to see a dark ring around a person's neck. This ring symbolizes the person's impending death; once they are marked to die, a gray line, which is invisible to normal people, appears on their neck, and once the ring turns completely black, the person dies. Chika Akatsuki and Shito Tachibana, two boys in her class, both have black rings around their necks, but to her surprise, they are not yet dead. It is revealed that after a tragic accident that was supposed to kill them both, the two boys made a deal with a secret loan office called the Zombie-Loan. In return for keeping them alive, the two have to hunt zombies for the loan office. When Michiru gets involved with them, she finds that her life has just become more complicated.

This one is not as unknown per say, but a lot of newer anime fans need to see this gem. Very good it has action, adventure, fantasy and supernatural elements. Really quality show.

Ok, seriously I can go on for hours. Ill stop there unless more people ask for me to keep going.

Sorry Batman not 50, just 3 to start lol

  6. Finished a lot of series I fished through the comments in this post. So, first of all, I'd like to thank all these nameless heroes for their amazing (and unaware) recommendations, even if I did see them because of a whim when I was browsing Fuwa in stalker mode xD. So, Arakawa under the Bridge was nice, really reminds me of the Monogatari series in some aspects. Both Nichijous are awesome too. Finnaly there was 5 centimeter per second, and I've got to say that was amazing. To be completely honest, in terms of art and music only, as the story was average, although pretty simbolic.

Right now I'm watching some reasonably old animes I guess (at least to me), like Mai Hime and Bamboo Blade, apart from the ones I'm watching from this season.

Bamboo Blade!!!!!! Sooo good and underrated! Not a bad episode in the bunch not to mention Tama-chan kicks serious ass

  7. Bad surprises, not that much either. Well, this season I had some bad surprises, with the two shows I hyped (Suisei and SnK) ending up being a tad disappointing.

Yeah, well, actually there's one. Now I'm going to get beaten to death and Ryoji's going to take out his guns, but I'm watching K-On and I don't like it. I find it funny a third of the time at best, I can't seem to get myself to like characters like Yui or Ritsu: it didn't hook me. The concept of making a music band and ending up doing nothing instead kinda irritates me. I can totally like anime where pretty much nothing happens but girls fooling around (I love Lucky Star). But, K-On? I can't.

Fair enough. Season 2 really is what makes k-on great. But like I said earlier, it's all subjective. Opinions vary. You don't have to like it :)

Actually just skip to season 2, you won't miss anything really. Meh it's an option!

  8. I must say, you have me almost completely sold except for one thing; "old dogs don't learn new tricks". I've been streaming anime for three years now and I really don't want to hassle myself with learning which sites to download from, and whether their safe, etc. That, and I feel if I get accustomed to a "higher quality experience" I will be spoiling myself to the point of no return. I don't mind stream quality and notice nothing particularly flawed with it, but If I get used to perpetually watching Blu-Ray quality then I feel I will become as nit-picky as a spoiled aristocratic brat. I don't want to develop such a sharp sense of observation that the smallest things will impede my enjoyment of merely watching a series.

Hey now, as one of the "old Dogs" I take offense to that. I used to stream Anime. Still do on Crunchroll every once and a while. But I always found streaming a hassle, ads and the amount of time it takes for the streaming site to even get the anime. I can get a Raw version sometimes a couple hours after it airs in Japan. Not to say I do that all the time.

As I mentioned earlier, I buy what I like, but I download the rest. Download>stream its faster, I have epic internet, and I get to have the show, like Alden_0023 said

Also, it gives me the option to watch the anime again even without internet connection, as the copy is just sitting here on my hard drive.
  9. Funny you brought up this quote. I was debating over this one or the Winston Churchill quote that I posted when I was making this thread. I have a bunch of friends in the marines or in the academies. Luckily, all of them have come back from deployment in Iraq or Afghanistan so far, but one of my friends disappeared just before he was supposed to leave for his last deployment in Afghanistan. Just one more deployment and then his tour would have ended.

Anyways, I've been thinking about joining the National Guard in the future, so it should be interesting. Anyone by any chance know much about the National Guard in New York?

I can put you in touch with someone in the New York area who can answer your questions.

War is hell man, I did 3 tours. Over 20 years serving as a Marine it's a calling its not for everyone. However the National Guard is a good way to serve. Have many friends in the NG. If you want shoot Me a PM if you wanna talk or have any questions. That's a big decision and I would recommend educating yourself about what to expect, so your prepared(as you can be)

  10. Happy 700th Post to meeeee!

Its about time, you slacker!! Congrats Batman!!

I think that I would have enjoyed Haruhi a lot more if it hadn't been for the hype and annoying fans. It was a good show but some of the fans... just... ugh...

Also the anime Shuffle! gave my innocent sixth-grade self a huge shock. It started out as a cute romance comedy anime but then

Kaede went crazy and it got all violent

and I was just sitting there shocked.

Adjusted your spoiler tags just a bit to hide everything. :)/>

  11. For me there is only one that comes to mind. Having spent my entire adult life as a US Marine, this strikes home for me.

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.”

    ― Dwight D. Eisenhower

Yes, thats a quote arguing the merits of war!!

  12. Hey guys,

As some of you have noticed, were doing a clean up of the forums and some things have been moved/deleted. After a discussion among the Admins, we have decided to create and IRC sub-forum. You will be able to post threads there for whatever you want. It will be moderated like the rest of the board. Were creating it so you guys have a place to have fun and post your different topics. All IRC content will be moved into this sub-forum.

We were extremely surprised by the negative reactions we got for trying to clean the board and make it nicer. The fact that some members decided to create more clutter in spite of us was very unexpected. Please keep in mind were doing this to help Fuwanovel. We love this community and our goal is to make it the best ever!!!
