  1. Ooh, nice art! Welcome to the forums.
  2. End world hunger. Develop a serum for immortality. Either of those are acceptable.
  3. See Duke Nukem: Forever. Whilst this is a game, the main point still stands. Trash will be trash no matter how long it has to ferment. That said. I'd also like to be hopeful that the anime will be at least decent. I'm hoping for Chiruchiru!
  4. Story telling in games seems to be on a decline in games (looking at you, CoD/BF) but there are still plenty that can do it well. Environmental story telling is favoured because there's no stop to the game play. That's what a game's original intention is, anyway: to game. That said, when a game has a great story but executes it poorly, it can be very jarring. An example of this is Star Wars: the Old Republic. I think the story for the game is actually pretty decent. But I think it's executed rather poorly. The main reasoning for this is because the abrupt, constant changes in pacing. Over and over again it's like the game has two modes: intense action, then sit around for 5-10 minutes talking and making choices. There are probably more examples of that, but something like that can be really grating once you go through it so much. Sometimes, I just want to kill things. Sometimes, I just want to get involved in deep thought from a story. This game's divided effort makes it feels as if it half-asses both of these things. But at the end, all that matters is if the game is good objectively. If the story telling and game play can be intermingled perfectly, the game will be great.
  5. Sorry if my tired words aren't so eloquent, but I felt compelled to post. I like stories like this. I'm very fond of them. From walking in a surrounding darkness to finding a raison d'etre (I probably mispelled/misused some accents on that) - it's a wonderful symbol of the human spirit. It's also something we can rarely do on our own. Misdirection in life can always be corrected, and it makes me happy - even though I don't know you - that you pursue your dreams as such. No matter what, don't give up. Even if you fail this time around, there's always a next time. Keep on trying 'til you succeed. If you don't try at all there's no opportunity for failure to learn. There's no opportunity for success to become happy. Well, I probably don't need to tell you that. Pursuing dreams is like playing a game on an unlockable impossible difficulty (forgive my nerdy reference), but then you achieve the moment you succeed and all is right in the world. One day, I hope to be like you and find my way through the dark tunnel of life. 'til then, keep your rivals in check.
  6. Thank you! You are a hero, gentleman, and a scholar! Incidentally, I couldn't find anything.
  7. Hey there! I decided today after finding this thread I will also start learning Japanese! HOORAY! ... but, there's a slight issue. Since I'm poor at the moment, I plan on using the 5th edition book and tried obtaining the 5th edition deck for anki... but the link is busted. I'm going to dig around on a bit to see if I can find something, but as a heads up, you might want to replace that as well. I'll edit if I find anything.
  8. ... officer I can - *throws eroge at his face and drives off* That'll keep him distracted for a while! MWAHAHAHAAAA! Two fornicating aliens, a crying limbless child, and hormone enhancing drugs.
  9. Well... I guess I write a bit, and I guess Clannad is my favourite vn... yeah. Prepare for shameless self insertion! https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9436840/1/Clannad-A-New-Story Feedback appreciated!
  10. Hello. Considering you work at home, what's your profession? What's the object you are most attached to? If you were attempting to introduce a complete newbie to visual novels, what would be the first you recommend them read and why?
  11. Well, since LoL is my favourite game, may as well! NA Server Qwertymann - ButterBeard
  12. I've considered streaming this on Twitch, but will that generate any viewers? I often thought of the issue of people joining halfway through a route and just being confused as all hell. It wouldn't be good for new viewers... that said, if you had a dedicated viewer base that were watching every day, it could work for them but what about new people? It would kind of suck... Either way, I'm kind of interested in this idea. I want more details, though... would a few people just play a vn together and upload it to YouTube?
  13. @nosebleed - I am waiting for Little Busters Ecstasy before I read that one, but it's on my list for sure. @SieghartXx - Thanks! If a novel gets multiple suggestions, it will probably have a higher pick priority. @Yukiru - Type-Moon? I'll have to look into that, because I'm not quite sure who they are (I assume they are a vn studio, though?) Thanks everyone else for your welcomes. Seems like G-Senjou no Maou is popular. And hey, a title I'll probably remember. xD
  14. Thanks all for the warm welcome! Makes me feel a bit better despite this icy cold. @nohman - I have already Grisaia! Thanks for that suggestion. I'm waiting for the sequels on that one, as I've read on here that's where the real fun begins. :3 I'll keep Maou on a top "to-read" list then. @cryptah - Visual novel may not be a "need" but I don't disagree with them helping survival. They are quite a necessity when one becomes so addicted to them. Also have read Rewrite already. And while its action was definitely above average, I'm not looking for more paranormal-esque actiony things right now. Maybe later. I like that stuff too. @Flutterz - I plan on getting to that sooner or later. I'm just kind of craving some ass-kicking at the moment. Heh. @DarkDarkDark - thank you! I hope I can contribute to the community in some way. @Katatsumuri - oh man. If one were a believer that the longer a title of a visual novel, the better it is, that one would take the cake. Unless there's longer... oh dear. I'm having troubles with long titles as they are. I'll never remember that title, even if I read it 100 times. XD Hm... well. These are the VNs I have read, in order from least recent to most recent. Katawa Shoujo (this is such a common starting vn, isn't it? Day[9] introduced me to it on his Meta Dating show) Clannad Rewrite Stein's;gate Grisaia no Kajitsu Ever17 Yume Miri Kusuri Planeterian CrossChannel Sharin no Kuni, Himawara no Shoujo That's it for now.. I'm kind of a newb. ^^' And I can't read Japanese so I can only stick to the already-translated ones. Though I'd love to learn Japanese.
  15. I need a shoulder rub.
