  1. Thing is, there are quite a few VNs that are boring or/and different in the beginning and only start getting interesting later on (Higurashi is a good example with its incredibly long slice of life comedy scenes or maybe Majikoi for me, I thought characters were walking stereotypes at first before playing it until the end of common route). Also, VNs are a much bigger time investment than most media and for that reason alone I usually would like to know whether I will read something that I regret wasting my time with or something that can be atleast interesting. Granted there are only a few I regret reading yet, but I'd like to keep it that way. I usually do follow myself only, but in case of series and stuff, I like to hear some opinions about them first.
  2. Thanks, guess I may have to get Tor browser or contact the site administrator one day in japanese for legit IP unban (these are the suggestions I saw when I checked how to connect).
  3. Funny, because a post like that was what made me doubt. Someone made a hate comment about his experience with Grisaia no Kajitsu and it kinda made me realize I didn't even enjoy it as much as I thought and always was thinking some things feel dumb (a group of people with decent supplies would rather stay in a forest for like 14 days instead of try finding a way out?). It really is a bit too highly praised.
  4. Is there maybe a site that is like the equivalent of VNDB, but for japanese people mainly? It would be a good indicator for when I (may) learn japanese (japanese learned from school). That's mainly why I pile up even untranslated works (or also pile them up in hopes that they may one day also get translated). Hmm, didn't know people would even score something low just because of game issues. Like hell, it's the content of the game that should count, not the issue with the game itself.
  5. Like in many media places, the score systems are not always indicative of the overall quality. How accurate is it actually on VNDB? I usually see recommendations here (mainly from those who have already read ton of VNs) where they recommend "great VNs" that sometimes have a score lower than 7.
  6. I extracted the BGM.pac, so I have the entire OST, but I can't find a solution to how I can pack them together. Or atleast a solution to editing the .pac file itself. I want to replace 1 file in it with another.
  7. Well, they probably thought releasing something that can bring them some money with low-budget, it's not a bad business plan to be honest. I doubt it will be anything grand.
  8. Then I guess even if the TL is a bit worse, I should wait for this, considering the amount of extra content.
  9. Not long ago, I told someone who recommended Rewrite to me that I'd rather also wait for that Rewrite+ project, because it simply seem like a remaster for me (I generally like remasters more, because usually enhance even the enjoyment for me). Because I wouldn't want to read something twice simply because of it being remastered, I decided on waiting, though he also told me the translation might not be the same quality. Seeing this, I'm still not sure what to read. Left really seems a bit more unique in a way that it doesn't use more general lines.
  10. Sadly, this feels more like going around the problem rather than solving it. Showing them non-eroges still won't fix the issue, because they will still be more shy with normal eroges without knowing what content they can offer despite them also having some erotic content aswell. Imagine that a masterpiece like Majikoi should not be shown, because it has some H-scenes for each heroines while the majority of it has almost zero focus on romance or any erotic content.
  11. It's mainly an anime meme group on Reddit (mind you, there's many trash memes there, so I only search for the rare good ones), so I hoped there would be a bit more knowledge for people there. Guess I was not right.
  12. Meh, to be honest, I was kinda just triggered when I made that post, because I saw 2-3 posts that day that mentioned eroges and was really annoyed when 70% of the comments mentioned hentai game instead. Usually I'm not that short-tempered.
  13. Giving it more thought, western games actually don't have as much focus on the sex scenes as eroges do. Whatever, I got tired of this debate, let's call all 18+ visual novels just very long animated porn novels and be done with it.
  14. So is then any western game that has sexual scenes aswell. All of them are porn games, the good gameplay is just extra.
  15. Hard to see it as a subgenre, considering how different they really are. For example, even some of our western games have sexual scenes, can they be called porn games when their main theme doesn't rely on porn, but just merely serve as story- and/or character-related materials? Also, erotic games were in the west even before eroges became a popularity, why would there be any difficulty in calling them "ero games" for example in the west? It's not like the term "erotic" comes from Japan.
  16. Anywhere else than a visual novel forum, whenever an eroge is brought up, people put the label "hentai game" on it. It's so goddamn annoying, it completely puts a bad spotlight on most of the great eroges. They call it that simply, because there are sex scenes, which is the dumbest shit I have ever seen. Are people seriously that unaware of the medium that they can't differentate them?
  17. I myself don't really watch TV shows nowadays, but the ones that remain my favorites were Doctor House, Eureka, Stargate and How I met your mother. They were so damn entertaining and I also got attached to the characters. I'm kinda pessimist towards today's TV shows, though I haven't watched any and it's just mainly me thinking the good shows only stay in the past (even though Eureka started airing more around 2010, I think).
  18. I think I remember that in the anime, her eyes switched at that scene. While the anime is a horrible mess and I also hate the eye change to signify which Michiru is in control (it takes away the subtleness and immedietly gives you the feeling something is not right, not to mention it doesn't make sense), it could still indicate it happened in the VN aswell.
  19. I can confidently say that Asako makes zero appearence or even voicing. Maybe on Makina's route when they're in the house and look at the picture and Asako maybe can be seen a bit (can't really remember it well), but aside from that, I have zero memory of her in any route or bad endings.
  20. Funny, I was also thinking about such thing. It would be pretty funny, though I really doubt a company itself would be sarcastic with itself to that extent.
  21. I still remember how I laughed off how bullshit that ending was. Like at first, it seems like an alternative good ending, then that just happens. What was the writer even thinking at that time?
  22. In a way, I think Michiru's bad ending is also frightening, yet decent. It shows how a person can easily fall apart if the only spiritual support in your life starts doubting himself. Though, I guess we could say though that maybe it was kinda out of character for Yuuji to try reverse his decision when he was never known to back down like that, not even when
  23. I may have worded myself wrong with my last reply. I'm not hating it at all, I just don't like when that whole overly dramatic theme that even hetero romance stuff usually don't have is there. I'm not homophobic, it's just that when you look at some (only some) stuff with gay romance, their themes can differ from a normal romance. Of course I found many that don't put that aura around itselves, but I'm more cautious with it than normal romances. I mainly mentioned it with Flowers, because the cover art made me feel like it would try to be super serious and play that "forbidden romance" theme that has probably been played for a shitton of gay romances already (though Silvz mentioned that it's not like that, so my concern went away). I just don't want the characters to dramatize for 30 hours whether it's okay if they fall in love or not and have that as their main plot, not that I can't understand where it comes from, but still, don't make it the plot. Nowadays of course this is less relevant as the society is also opening up to gay people, so do the creators make their characters aswell open up alot easier. Tl;dr: I don't care if the fact that they're gay is treated more as a side thing and the romance itself has more focus.
  24. Well, I'm not too interested in yuri itself, but I will add it to my wishlist incase I get interested in it. Just hope it isn't overly dramatic (not like I don't like drama itself, I just don't like it when it's basically everywhere).
  25. Well, that's definitely close to what I was looking for, thanks for the recommendation. Although I had it in my wishlist, atleast this will increase my interest in it when I'm considering picking up another VN.
