Ddi you end up finishing Nanairo? Or taking a break for Maggot Baits?

I've finished Kotori's and Iyo's routes so far. I've kinda assigned Azusa's route (and later Yumi's) along with The Outer Worlds as therapy for my soul inbetween Maggot Baits sessions. :P

All in all, Nanairo Reincarnation was beyond my expectations both quality-wise and in terms of how heavy the story would be. Like I mentioned previously in this thread, I originally expected it to be just some regular comedy nukige, but it went well above that to the point where I'd say it's probably the game/VN that has surprised me the most (in a positive way) this year. I guess I should thank you for your earlier input, since that was what steered me towards checking it out!

I mean, can you even call it a proper route? Felt like a bad end but really expanded.

Yeah, kinda. It was pretty long though, so "bad end" doesn't quite feel like a sufficient classification. Well, whatever. In any case, it was a big waste of time for me personally, but I guess people who are into those particular fetishes might find it enjoyable.

I'm at chapter 3 now, and things are looking up now that the main story has moved along a bit.

  3. Finished one route in Maggot Baits, and it was pure garbage. It just consisted of scene after scene of a very specific theme, which I'm not into whatsoever. Namely,

    Spoiler

    futanari/tentacle porn.

The story was pretty much nonexistent in this route, so I figure its entire purpose is to satisfy people with that particular fetish, meaning it's not all that surprising that it wasn't for me. I just hope the true route is going to be worth it in the end.

  4. Okay, so I've decided to torture myself by reading this, despite usually being put off by gore, sexual abuse and whatnot, since I hear the underlying story is supposed to be good.
Is there a guide available somewhere? I don't mind if it's in Japanese as long as I can make out which choices to pick.

I assumed either Saki or Shindou would be that character

    Spoiler

I never really considered Saki as that person, because that somehow felt too obvious. I suspected Shindou briefly and thought he might be deliberately holding back information, but then things started adding up that made me think more and more that Misaki was the one. Like her previously mentioned flying style (or is that "flight style", rather?), but also stuff like how she was really good at flying despite seemingly not having much real experience. That made it pretty obvious that there would be some sort of reveal about her past at some point, and that really put her on the radar for me. There's also the fact that they pulled a "Person X was actually Gender Y" card with Masaya (the stuff about people thinking he was a girl due to his long hair), which made me think that it wouldn't be out of the question that they'd do a reversal of that with another character.

"Of course, they made me hate Misaki so that she could be the antagonist of her own character route.  No wonder people love this route.  A story of friends turned enemies that concludes with them ending up together after working out their issues in the climax, that's going to be awesome."

    Spoiler

Yeah, that really felt like a bit of a missed opportunity. Considering how much that experience from his childhood influenced Masaya's life since then, he sure accepted everything pretty easily as soon as it was revealed that Misaki was the person he met.

Just out of curiousity, did you figure out the "Misaki was the boy" plot twist in advance? I started thinking that was the case pretty early on due to some not so subtle hints (like how her flying style reminded Masaya of the boy), so the reveal lost any impact it otherwise could have had.

    Are you doing Azusa's route?

Nope, Kotori's. I dunno when exactly the routes branch off, but that scene is probably a part of the common route if both of us got it.
There was another instance where the text seemed to be a combination of several parts of dialogue mixed together.

Other than these things, I haven't noticed anything weird except for a few typos.

What did you not like about Kira Kira that made you not care for Deardrops?

It's not that there was something in particular that I disliked in KiraKira that was then reused in Deardrops. It's mostly a combination of Deardrops feeling repetitive because of similarities with KiraKira, as well as some character traits and other stuff that I don't like.

If you're interested in more in-depth impressions from me, you can refer to my previous posts in "What are you plaing?". (herehere and here)

...weren't all characters dead at the end? Though I remember some of them reawakened in the non-Beta world again. But I don't even remember anymore if it was another world or another time.

    Spoiler

Yup, the team members sacrificed themselves one after another during the final battle, so it definitely won't revolve around them at the very least.
If I remember correctly, everything was back to normal in the original world, with the exception of Kasumi now being a part of the class. Furthermore, Takeru lost all his memories of the Beta world (aside some vague recollections, which he can't seem to connect).

I'm looking forward to finding out what the new story revolves around and how it plays out!

  10. Just went through a pretty confusing scene in Nanairo Reincarnation. The gang was having a conversation at the dinner table, but the text was misplaced and didn't match up with the characters or voiced dialogue.

    An example:

    Spoiler

    3buyHq.jpg

The "present head" is Makoto (the protagonist), so this makes it seem like he's actually talking to himself.

The entire scene went like this, so it was kinda hard to keep track of who was saying what.

I just hope they manage to make the story interesting somehow. Deardrops kinda felt like a copy+paste of KiraKira in many regards (it's one of the reasons that I didn't enjoy it very much), and I'd say there's a pretty big risk of that happening yet again when they keep going with the same theme over and over. I hope they manage to prove me wrong here!

it looks like MoeNovel stealthily updated Steam edition of If My Heart Had Wings to match Cruise Sign's main part.

It's a good thing if they've mended some of the damage, , but the heroine routes (which aren't a part of Cruise Sign) are probably still as broken as before, since I doubt they'd go out of their way to retranslate those out of good will towards the consumers. I imagine the poor suckers who don't know about the retranslation patch will be like "Whoa! What the hell happened!?" once they go from a somewhat acceptable translation in the common route to something like Ageha's!

they didn't have the resources anymore to give the main antagonist a sprite.

Haha, seriously? I'm not that far along yet, but that sounds like some really lousy prioritizing! I'd actually been thinking that it feels like a pretty high budget production so far, but it seems they went wrong somewhere down the line then.

Im gonna assume no one knows they're siblings in the new school.

    Spoiler

As ArgentstR mentioned, Misato's a teacher, and she's forced to transfer to a new school because she had a relationship with a student (Yuuji, that is). But it apparently isn't an issue that they're all over each other in the middle of class at the new school, despite it still being a matter of a student/teacher relationship, and I find that pretty hard to believe.

  15. Done with Yukizakura now! While it wasn't quite on par with the other D.O. works I've read (Kana Imouto, Crescendo and Kazoku Keikaku), it was definitely a worthwhile experience.

The only thing I was kinda disappointed by was Misato's route, despite her being one of the characters I liked the most overall.

    Spoiler

The whole "illlicit relationship" drama had already been done in Saki's route, and it even unfolded more or less the same way (they start dating, get too comfortable around each other in school, get found out by the vice principal on the school roof and are then forced apart). The ending didn't make much sense either. Misato is forced to transfer to another school because of her and Yuuji's relationship, he transfers to her new school as a student, kisses her right in the middle of the class and then everything is apparently just fine and dandy, although they basically find themselves in an identical situation to the one that forced them apart before.

Man, I ended up ploughing straight through Nanairo Reincarnation due to it being the shorter game (to Aokana), and now am emotionally devastated. Wasn't sure how much of a nakige it would be, but boy does it hit hard towards the end...

Ooooh, I was under the impression it's a comedy nukige and was going to pass on it either entirely or at least for the moment, but now I'm actually interested (like the masochist I apparently am)! I might give it a go when I'm done with Yukizakura!

You guys are for a treat who thought Kotori's route ending was lacking in Harvest Festa.

As someone who was really disappointed with how she

    Spoiler

just ditched Kotarou in the hospital and didn't visit or contact him even once,

I'm quite looking forward to this, hoping she'll redeem herself.
