Time for OP to post his opinion.
What do you think about cliches?
Every cliche that now is branded as cliche, at some time was the most original and inovational idea for it's age. Every original will eventually turn into cliche and this process is most likely unavoidable so we should at least try to utilise cliches so that they aren't boring and repetetive. Every show has it's cliches but if they are executed well  nobody will pay attention to that highly "original" development.

Are they good? are they bad?
I wouldn't say that they are good or bad. Cliches are just essential no matter how many try to deny it.

What kind of cliches do you know? do you hate them? do you like them?
There are enermous amount of cliches I could try to count, even for one genre so I'll limit it to several genres.

Cliches that piss me off - Cofee Ver.

    Shoujo;
Entrance Ceremony => Girl meets bad boy while bad boy is hooking up with other girl => "kyaa, you're the worst" => "Hey, I like you' you're going to become mine => after several chapters of heavy blushing, jealousy and forced kiss with rape attempt they happily hook up.

Shounen; Weak hero + childhood friend => "geez, you really  can't do anything without me, Hero-chan (yes, chan because #childhood friend) => wild deliquents appear => "hey aniki, that chick looks hot, let's hit on her" => "hey cute you look awesome, gehehehe" => "kyaa, save me Hero-chan" => *gasp" "I swear I heard heroine call for me, better go look at her" =>. *gasp* x2 "leave her alone, you bastards" => *charges to the deliquents, gets beaten but girl is impressed by her knight and they start being tsundere to each other while still somehow managing to look like love-birds*

    Hentai:
*trips* sorry I accidently ended up sucking your dick

    Ecchi:
15 years old boy moves to aunt/uncle/somewhere => sees he has to live with beautiful girl => "lucky me" => girl is tsundere and has shart tongue => damn, what a bitch..guess we won't get along => it's night and b complretelyoy want to take bath => he opens door and coincidently same tsundere girl is standing there completely naked => *zoom out to exterior of the house* = > KYAAAAA

Am I seriously the only one that saw that Okami was on topic and was right?
The penalization for the act of sexualizing  a child in fiction or not seems to be with the topic at hand. Also maybe its because I am still relatively young but I still remember what it was like when I first took up interest in girls in a sexual way. I was maybe 10 or 12? The girls I had a sexual interest in were about my same age. Why is it so wrong for a person to keep that sexual consciousness that we all had at that age? Do I like children? No. I think they are freaking gross. I mean seriously dirty. Maybe that is just because I saw snot covered kids to much when I was younger but I digress. Do I sometimes see a "hot" underage girl? yes. Does that mean I want to have sex with her. yes. Does that mean I have any plans to molest her? NO. I see hot older women all the time and I have no plan to molest them either. Rape is rape. Sexual preferences are sexual preferences. Mutually exclusive.

What does this have to do with the topic? Well I mean we are talking about Lolis. Lolis are for the most part a fictional 2d object in your head. If you love them in a sexual way that does mean you would rape them even if you could. Though, you can't(yet). So, whats the harm?

Also, even if you want to say that they are sexual symbols for kids. Sure that could easily be argued. However, they are enhanced versions that hardly resemble actual kids. They have more sensual bodies and erotic adult behavior. I mean my favorite loli is Shinobu. Sure she is similar to a kid. But I dare any of you to find a picture of a kid that resembles her adult charm and cute juxtaposition of old and young.

Chivalry has a meaning: it refers to the code of honor upheld by medieval knights.  Gender stereotypes and unequal treatment of women are built into that.  If they aren't, it's not chivalry anymore.  Simply respecting an individual's wishes is not chivalry.  However, as soon as you make sweeping assumptions like "all women don't like X", you're slipping into gender stereotype territory.

Expecting "ladies" to be submissive and asexual is a component of the Medieval chivalric world view, and represents a facet of the gender discrimination that dominated in that era.  In the modern age, women are often discouraged from talking about sex and making sexual jokes in private company, whereas men are permitted to do so.  Likewise, women are victimized for being sexually active outside a stable monogamous relationship, whereas men aren't.  These are all consequences of the world view that chivalry was born from and perpetuates.

People tend to be oblivious to the consequences of putting others on a pedestal: the higher the pedestal you erect, the greater the fall when they slip.  And that doesn't apply only to women.

While it is true that words do change meaning over time, chivalry is not one of them. Chivalry is not politeness or kindness and I doubt it will ever evolve to mean politeness or kindness. If I showed kindness to my neighbour that isn't chivalry, if I showed kindness to my very elderly and frail neighbour by helping him down the stairs, that IS chivalry. If a bunch of thieves broke into my elderly neighbour's house and I helped drive them away, that would be chivalry. If my neighbour is an able-bodied marine wielding a rifle, not chivalry.

You see right now our userbase is relatively small. We can still manage threads with some effort.
But now imagine we just allow any user to make the thread they want to. And imagine this as our userbase grows. It'll get to a point where there's tons of threads discussing the same thing, discussion will be hindered by this since it'll be divided, you get a dumpyard of threads, making it harder to search, and nobody comes out the winner.
Before you get to this point it's better to prevent new threads discussing old topics all together because we're still at a manageable level

You're saying the fuwa staff is a clean freak, and with all the reason to, because we want to be able to make this site manageable for us and accessible for other users and if you start turning into a dumpyard of threads you're just hindering discussion. There is absolutely no reason a new user can not use an old thread. It's just the better solution to keep the forums' integrity.
The moment we start allowing new threads with old topics to be created is the moment we allow our forums to become the dumpster that are forums like the MAL one where i see the same thread 5 times in one page.
