Man that sure is a lot of assumptions about me that are blatantly false! But go on assuming you know anything about me.

Hum... Sorry? Do we know each other?

The translations are shit because they're wildly inaccurate to the Japanese, because Ixrec doesn't actually speak Japanese in any competent capacity (he uses Edict to do his translations for him, a dictionary that is derided by anyone who actually knows Japanese)! And this isn't even going in to how both translations completely ignore Romeo's writing styles and how he characterizes his own characters.

Source? Do you personally know Ixrec? Isn't that just your own assumptions? Or did you hear a great man somewhere on the internet say this?

I don't have any information about GHS so talking to me about him/them is pointless. But just to be sure, how do you know that they completely ignore Romeo's writing styles? How is Romeo's writing style? Can you explain me? Or did you hear this from a great man again?

This isn't about "Americanizing", this is about the Amaterasu TL being shit, but GHS being maggot-infested week old roadkill rotting in the sun.

Ok, really, alright. You now proved me that Amaterasu TL is shit, I'm gonna delete all his translation right now!

Ok, let's be serious now. First, I didn't say all of this in regard of Amaterasu translation only. You can often see one person without knowledge in japanese around here saying "Oh my godddddddd, look this sentence, this is shit, the the translator is noob so the translation has to be bad, boycott, boycott!!!!". Sadly I see that really often, and people might be digusted about a VN without even playing it. And since people tend to put "bad writing" and "bad translation" in the same box, we have this kind confusing situation like the one we are having here.

Another point that made me give up fighting on this subject: I once spotted a VN badly translated, I showed a sentence from one of the first line of the demo, I had rougly 2 kinds of answers from native speakers, some said that the kanji are almost the same, so can't be helped if translator got it wrong, and some other (and more honest) just didn't care, cauz all those english slangs and make up words matched their taste...

Just to say that all of this is a matter of taste. The fact that you don't like a thing doesn't give you the right to say it's shit unless you use your something more than your own assumptions to prove it.

I said anything I had to say. I won't answer anymore in this thread since this is going nowhere.

  2. I will be mean here, but let's be honest: So far, the people I saw complaining about the translations are native speaker (and very often the same persons) because the said translation don't match their taste in english literature, then they just go around and cry that the translation is bad because they don't have their share of slangs, americanized sentences (which often kill the meaning of the japanese sentence)

The sad thing is that almost all those people don't understand a single sentence in japanese (and funny thing is that none were never able to explain what was wrong in the translation when asked to). Just like Nier said someone, you just need someone, somewhere on the internet complaining, parrots have been reapting the same shit.

As long as you have no proof, you can say that personally you don't like the translation, but have no right to say that it's shit...

  3. Clephas said almost everything.

The protagonist is really different of the others "kind hearted/stupid/obedient/submissive" protagonists you can find in any other VN. Some people that don't like him tends to think that they have their average teenager but forget that he has heavy psychological trauma. For my part he won my respect for what he did at the end of the Isoka route.

I liked the writing but I know a lot of people don't like ixrec. Now it's up to you if you like it or not.

No, you didn't understand. It's a 4 pages leaflet given WITH the book. It's just a BONUS. And it's first come first served, so only the first buyers can get them. The price is the same as the normal one, it's just something to make people buy.

And of course, they're written by the author.

I see, thank you for the explanation

Well, it exists many stores selling otaku stuff. The store managers asked themselves "how can we make people choose to buy in OUR store?". Answer: having something only possible to have in this store, aka. Store Bonus.

So for example, Youkoso will have a different store bonus for MelonBooks, Animate, Toranoana or Gamers. Rarely a LN has 4 store bonuses, most of the time the maximum is 3, and it's amongst these stores.

That way, true fan are kinda obligated to buy in all the stores who has a store bonus if he wants to have everything, thus each store makes a profit.

    That's the gist of it.

Are those written by the author at least? So to be short: Some store managers will buy the right of the LN for a higher price just to have 20 pages more with some short story about the character? I don't undertsand why all the store managers don't sell the same product, it's obvious they will loose a part of the market (having less content ring like censorship for me... It's stupid too sell the book partially)

These are Store Bonuses. In Japan, depending on the store you buy the novel you can get a short 4 pages leaflet with a little short story. In general only popular LNs have them, but recently new promising LNs have them too.

Why does it depend of the store and not the LN? Shouldn't all the LNs of the same series have the content?

  7. I may be out of topic but a quick question:

So far, Sakura game released their game on steam, then released a 18 patch later. But I think I read somewhere that steam won't allow that anymore (I don't remember where, I am not sure that's true). But if that's the case, I guess it can be trouble for their business right?

  8. Chaos Head is a pretty mature VN with a good plot. A lot people don't like Takumi but he looks more like a human being that more VN. I like how MC try to undertand who he is, understand the reality of the world he lives in no family, even though all the gruesome murders happening around him, his "friends" giving up on him... Forgetting him... Willing to kill him...

It was a good experience, I loved it.

I started to watch the anime after I read the manga's ending. After watching the second-last episode of the first season

in which Raku says to Chitoge that "She's not his type"...unforgivable.

I started to get suspicious. So, I watched the anime's conclusion before continuing it.
I was right....the anime conclusion is "useless" and "unsatisfactory", to say the least

I don't understand you at all:

You are a chitoge fan right? You should be happy with the manga ending no?

The anime doesn't cover the whole story, I don't understand the point to get spoiled for an anime that doesn't even have a conclusion, (they can't make one when the manga is not even finished lol). For example, do you usually expect a conclusion while watching a 12 episodes anime based on a ongoing novel? I am not sure.

Well, as far as I know, most of her time Chitoge is beating, insulting and humiliating Raku. Would you really expect Raku to enjoy this? I'm sure even you wouldn't enjoy this... unless you would? x)

    Just to reference.

"-bat" used 29 times in all game.

" bat " 3 times. Though it is "right off the bat"

    "bats" 1 time.

If you want, you can simply auto-replace it on anything. Or if you can't I can make simple patch (already did with -baka for myself :P )

Btw, first translation patch was with -baka, before Sekai lay a hand on it.

Can you please post it or send it to me?

  11. For starter, if we allow to call those routes 'true', doesn't that mean something is off with all others routes? (true/wrong route) From the start, the only point with the tue route is revealing secrets/information and cloture the game somehow etc. The main point with all others routes is just to add porn with your best favorite/buy times for a longer VN experience/add some mystery that you'll follow in the last route.

For example, once you play Hatsuyuki Sakura's true end, you start to understand how all previous routes were pointless no matter you look at it, and it's not the only vn like this, I hated that.

Nothing I've heard of so far... and it isn't that people don't like it.  It is more like everyone nitpicks or has their favorite axe to grind.  Also, over-hyping.  I love Dies Irae... but I never named it my favorite VN.  In Japanese, it was an exhilarating read that stretched my knowledge of grammar and vocab when I originally read it (before the Amantes version came out).  In English... it kind of feels like they tried too hard to keep every aspect of Masada's style when they translated it at times, though it is still a fairly good translation (edit: as translations go, that is).

Anyway, I'm  more or less resigned to waiting until December or later for my physical copy, and the 18+ definitely won't release on time, based on my experiences with vndb dating where there isn't a solid day set.

Edit: I honestly am not in a hurry... but then, I played the ero-version before I played the later, non-ero ones, so I know what to expect.  Light's h-scenes tend to be hit or miss... some are really good, some are funny, and some are outright boring.  Dies Irae's h-scenes tend to be vanilla outside of the fact that it is sex under stress.  The exceptions are Kei's h-scenes, which I thought were hilarious... and Rusalka's, of course.

How many h scene is there?
