    Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashi no is VN of the month, but I'll review it myself to determine whether it's a masterpiece or not.
    1. Moon Strike [061102] Vanaheim

    Main character decided to undergo an operation and become metanoid because of revenge. Afterwards he fought on as a warrior of justice as "Silver Blast" for the Future Hope Foundation. After the fight with criminal organization Django there were no longer serious threats for the city, so he retired. But there is a new danger now. Does flame of justice still burn in his soul? Card battles adventure. Developers try to combine science fiction and magic, which is not possible and thus fails. So it turns into a bakage with card battles.  
    2. Tori x Tori ~Ecchi Shitekunnakya Itazura Shichauzo?~ とり×とり～えっちしてくんなきゃイタズラしちゃうゾ？～ [061102] Sumikko Soft

    The special product of this town is pumpkin.... Pumpkin and Halloween are used to liven up the town. Shunsuke's high school usually has a school festival at the end of October and his class plans to open a ghost house for the festival. There is an old house standing next to his apartment and it seems no one lives there. They decide to use this house as a ghost house. Shunsuke goes inside to look around and meets monsters.... He runs away but next day, a girl comes to his place with three followers. It seems that he met them before... actually, they are the ones he met at the old house! "We request for your cooperation!" Game has ecchi and itazura in its title, and indeed the average number of H scenes per heroine is 4-5, and the number of heroines for capture is huge - 8. Actual pranks only happen at the beginning of the scenario. Protagonist is a very passive agriculture enthusiast. So it's quite a normal pure love game with pranks and agriculture theme and slight tilt into H.

    "Romantic Fool" is a new style coffee shop. Kazuya starts to work there part-time after twists and turns. There are teas, biscuits and unique and pretty waitresses. A small love romance comes into bloom... Usual Giga cafe moege that's only possible to play if some heroine seems lovely.  
    4. Chokotto☆Vampire! ちょこっと☆ばんぱいあ！ [061117] Meteor

    Youichi is an ordinary uni student, and he wants to live an ordinary life. On the other hand, Youichi's father is a mayor, and he secretly runs away after a series of scandals. Youichi is at a loss what to do... and he receives a package. There is a huge coffin inside.... He opens it and finds a girl sleeping. She wakes up and says, "I am a descendant of a vampire family." A city office worker comes to his place and tells him that his father is a descendant of a traditional devil family, and he is decided to take over the devil after his father. At first, he refuses it and is given a couple of months to think it over. He finally accepts the offer to be the devil.... Basically, concept is that normal boy gets pressed by three princesses of demonic world, and that turns into a slapstick comedy. But it also becomes the main problem as he has to oppose strong antagonist somehow without having any special power. Plot is nonexistant. H scenes happen on average 6 times per heroine, and there is a short Harem route, but unlike previous two games of the company it's definitely not a nukige.  
    5. Harem☆Party ハーレム☆パーティー [061117] Tactics 1 2 3

    The protagonist of our story, Moriuji Haru, is just about to complete an unnamed RPG, but just as the final boss is in his death throes, the game's heroines appear in his room! They say they have escaped the game world and come to the real world in pursuit of the Demon Lord himself.
    Haru is understandably shocked by this sudden, unbelievable turn of events, but the girls are overjoyed that they can finally meet the 'Hero of Legend' who is so famous in their world.
    When the girls reveal that they can't remain in the real world without having sex with him, Haru succumbs to their pleas, and so begins the story as he tries to help in the search for the Demon Lord while educating the ignorant game girls in the ways of lovemaking... Game is localized and has English reviews.  
    6. Netorare -Naked Trance Ramble- 寝盗ラレ-NakedTranceRamble- [061117] G-CAT

    Main character is an ordinary student. He touches various problems of girls around him. Eventually emotions take over, and several girls actively start seeking his attention... Concept is as banal as possible with one exception - netorare in title. For some reason, developers associate netorare with rape and intimidation. So girl loves protagonist and has sex with other people.  
    7. Youtou Jiken 妖刀事件 [061117] Liar-soft

    Takumi happens to find a stabbed corpse on the backstreet. A sword is stabbed.... When he touches it, the sword goes into his palm, and he sees the images that the corpse saw when it just died. Takumi runs away from it.... On the next day, there is news about the murder case.... He already gets involved in this case.... Modern time, Shibuya, but place does not have much meaning in the game. Scenario is almost a straight road, with four endings. Sword does not show up often, actually. Concept is a mix of horror and mystery, but both feel done half-way. Cruel moves are used instead of developing the story. I blame scenario writer who was only responsible for minor Liar-Soft games.

    Everybody meets after an interval of several years. His childhood friend Chitose, his younger sister Misaki and his father Hotsuma. His father still wants Jin to take over his business. After the family meeting, Jin starts to work as a teacher. One day, when he is on his way home, he finds a girl lying injured. Since the meeting with her, Jin's life starts to change.... Convenience is king here. First part is introductory and subtle, and in the second we solve girl's problem. Very orthodox pure love game close to a moege.  
    9. Colorful Aquarium カラフルアクアリウム [061124] Eufonie

    Our hero has spent a long time living alone with his elder sister while their parents were away on business. However, now the sister has gone and the protagonist has been living alone for a little while; living the student’s life. At least he has had other company than just his sister, for he was frequently visited by his childhood friend. She now is kind enough to offer to live with him, and help him with the chores and such. To make things even more interesting: a girl--that both of them knew from long ago--has now returned from America along with two maids. The three of you hit it off very well together--so well that it leads to something more than a friendship between all of you. It's mostly a light comedy though there is a sudden real battle in the end. Good romantic comedy with some crazy elements. There is nothing special in the story, but depiction of characters is good.  
    10. Etoranze ~Uchi no Pet wa Neko no Kami-sama?~ えとランゼ～うちのペットは猫の神様？～   [061124] Enfini

    Main character's sister-in-law returns from a distant town on the first day after summer vacation. There is nothing special in the return itself, but the strange thing is that she is possessed by a cat God. The deity promises to return sister's personality is protagonist helps with finding and monsters. But the real problem is that she messes with everyone turning ordinary life into chaos. Characters are unique looking and cute. There's a bit of nakige in this craziness. H dimension is moderate.

He gets a figure of Memeko, one of the heroines... but a magical girl is incarnated in the figure. The girl is sent to this world because she used a forbidden magic. According to her, "semen shower" is necessary to return to her original body. He can't decide whether or not to accept her offer. And what will happen when the magical girl visits Akiba town? The figure and Otaku's strange summer starts... SIM

Soon after he knows several facts, that this is a branch school, and students are isolated from society for personal reasons. He doesn't know them but it's too late. His life as a teacher starts... There are English reviews, but I'll try to review it as well since there aren't better candidates this month.

    Hajime is a crooked student from a rich family. His parents died when he was a child, and he took over their business. He acts like a good boy at school but is bored to death. One day, a company that borrowed money from his company goes bankrupt and three daughters of the president come to his house to work as maids, Kazumi, Futaba and Miyo. They gradually loosen up and.... Game starts as a comedy with subtle story, but H nature shows off very soon as H scenes start to be inserted randomly. Quality of comedy is so-so. Mystery solution is involved, but realization is really poor. Everyone loves protagonist from the start. All the elements are lacking.

    This is the story of a certain day off after Rin got together with Kaede. Primula comes back to the Fuyou home as family.
    The King of Gods and King of the Devils perform an inspection of Primula's emotion control in front of Rin and Kaede, but right in the middle, Primula's magical force - which far exceeded their expetations - goes out of control and affects Kaede's mind.
    The various memories within Kaede are rearranged in tatters.
    As a result, Fuyou Kaede is left in a state of utter confusion and falls asleep.
    Nobody knows when or if she will awaken.

    Foreword: Caramel Box is loved by me for rich in detail worlds, so I'm approaching Utsurigi Nanakoi Tenkiame with high degree of skepticism as this is just a story of seven school wonders written by four different writers. But Caramel Box is full of surprises. Can it redeem even this setting?

    Synopsis: There is a school in town. The story of seven mysteries is told among students from generation to generation. Ren is an ordinary student except for the fact that he has a mysterious childhood friend.
    Triggered by meeting with a witch, he gets to know a little bit about the mysteries. Ellen, Kazusa, Hana, Miu, and the other girls. The story of seven mysteries and romances starts now...

    As you see from the score, Miracle did not happen. Seven school wonders usually assumes horror story, but there is neither horror nor battle in here. It's actually seven light romance stories where school wonders exist just to make each heroine unique. It's not a plotge, it's a pure charage.
    Prologue is actually nice with these three mascot animals and Ellen in witch clothes. But then comes the screen with girls icons... and magic is gone.

    The biggest problem of the game is isolated heroines. They rarely interact with other heroines, so don't really have the chance to build up atmosphere. Ellen seems to be main heroine since she is a witch who pushes us in prologue to investigate seven school wonders, but in reality she disappears almost instantly in other heroines routes failing to be mediator between heroines and the reader.  Flagging takes quite long, but flagging scenes are often repeating and not too funny. Individual paths feel short. Moreover, turning points in these paths feel forced and unnatural.

    Utsurigi Nanakoi Tenkiame is neither boring, nor funny. It can only offer a romance story tête-à-tête with the heroine in unusual circumstances. Heroines are made unique by adding specific features like nekomimi or miko with steel weapons (who never fights anyone) to girls themselves and putting them in special environment that usually means some kind of ghost story. This way game feels very similar to One2, yet theme is  wider than just disappearance and fantasy elements are used more boldly. But there's nothing beyond these seven stories. There's neither True Route nor omake, because nothing really unites these heroines. If feels lonely.
    Japanese reviews compare Utsurigi Nanakoi Tenkiame with earlier Caramel Soft games like Blue or Shamana Shamana. But those games at least had single writers and organic cast of heroines. This one is artificial mosaic hastily gathered together just to keep brand writers busy with something.

    Due to mystery genre there are limitations to what can be revealed, but at least concept should be laid out to understand what to expect. So, different characters miss beloved dead people, and there is a technique to bring back the dead, but the key to it is urban legend about beheading woman. Game has three chapters that can be roughly described as present dimension, past dimension and true route that can be called future dimension just for sake of simplification. First present Chapter is the largest one, and it contains two protagonists zapping views and all the four heroine endings. We do approach beheaded woman in each of those routes, but in the same manner, so mystery does not really get developed, it's just observation from different angles. Past and Future chapters are focused on the mystery roots and nature, correspondingly. 

    So mystery gets focused extensively, and everything gets explained, so even some emptiness is felt due to limited possible interpretations. But game touches important humanity questions for us to explore ourselves. Does one human life worth sacrificing another one? How does it cope with the concept of eternal soul? What will happen if everyone starts sacrificing other lives to save their beloved ones? Madness becomes the main theme of the game - and it contaminates not only maniac's mind, but even heroines minds who start to lose grip with the reality and ethics. 

    Game actually reminds me old game Kurenai by light. Same madness dominates the air, same bloody scenes everywhere, even main heroine of the two games basically looks and feels the same - in this game it's Kureha (even name seems to bear reference). Different heroines sing famous Japanese horror Kagome song which becomes a symbol of madness. I should also mention great BGM that contributes to the atmosphere a lot.

    But aside from Kureha, heroines aren't developed much. Loli daughter Momiji is also greatly portrayed, but she is not a capturable heroine, luckily. Shiina also feels alive with her bitter attitude compared to more ordinary heroines Mahoko and Masaki who have their share of charm, but that's it, no development. Male characters in this game are especially subtle and passive. All characters are normal people without special abilities, so at times lack of excitement is felt.

    Reconquista story is not that complicated, but thanks to four protagonists zapping and different chronology it gets rich in taste and details. It's not our usual fluffy happy end game. It leaves reader with touching moment, heavy feeling, hope and afterthoughts to linger on.

    Foreword: What is Petit KeroQ? Why creating a new brand was needed for this game? Those are the questions I seek answers for.

    Synopsis: 
    The time is twelve years ago.
    A comet of unprecedented proportions appeared in our Solar System.
    Its magnetic field was such that when the comet drew closer to Earth, it interrupted radio waves worldwide.
    That time was nicknamed "The Day Television Disappeared".
    The day the world lost its signal, our protagonist, Mimasaka Shingo, lost his parents.
    At the heart of this incident is his father's former boss, Hosaka Kenichi, on whom our protagonist who knows the truth has sworn revenge.
    Twelve years later, Shingo meets Hosaka Nanami, a highschool student. Forlorn memories connect and bind, in their cement the truth. Hosaka Nanami is… Hosaka Kenichi's daughter.
    Shingo thus decided to make her life a living hell. Perhaps, when his loved ones are ripped and grinded to pieces, that man might know the misery he once taught others.

    As you can see from the scores, I'm furious. I've been tricked by KeroQ to play a full-scale sex slave training revenge nukige with a rapist protagonist, so I'm feeling pretty much like after MinDeaD BlooD. Not that description did not mention "make life a living hell", but is it really the only way for revenge? 

    Rage minute is over, so let's discuss the merits of this game. KeroQ would lose face if they did not try to justify sex slavery in some way. And - not going to spoiler here - it is justified... in some weird logic. Moreover, what I see here is an ancient attempt to make a reverse nukige - present hardcore action and via it get to know the girl and fall in love with her. And - as I see it - this concept fails in this game. The reason is because slave training itself does not really bear any sense or sympathy. And Nanami humanity is shown only in normal talk scenes. Basically, I don't feel that H scenes are needed at all for game concept. But take H scenes out, and... you'll get my video, a cripple just 8.5 hours long. 30 minutes for introduction, 4 hours for H scenes and just 1 hour for each of four heroines endings. Now try to imagine what kind of quality romance content can fit into ONE hour, and you'll get the idea about this game. Other three heroines are humiliated by this one scene left for each of them. And I'd also want to imply that in their endings heroines need to get emotional super fast, so they just go crazy and bitch about something absolutely stupid. Thus pretty cool images of sub-heroines in the common route get smashed, in my opinion.

    But let's return to Nanami as main heroine and her ending. It's canonical ending, but lacks logic so much that I wonder why writer considers readers so stupid to swallow it without asking questions. Everything is super-convenient and anti-persuasive. Every heroine loves our horrible protagonist from first second. And if you look those writers up... there is no SCA-JI at all, and main scenario writers aren't really notable for any works. So, yes, either writers are bad or they consider readers stupid. Or maybe we're supposed to be shocked by the fact that Nanami is not as simple as she looks from the beginning of the game.

    Main character Shingo is a rapist, which is pretty bad by its own. But he's also both not smart and maniacal. He forgets faces of his relatives, so he wants to have his revenge by hurting Nanami, favorite child of a person who sent his relatives on a plane during the day of comet fall. And by hurting Nanami he wants to remember faces of his parents... And his best evidence is ... because he appointed that person guilty in his parents death. Shingo memory is fuzzy, he can hardly make logical assumptions, and his inner monologue is constantly maniacally shouting the same things about revenge. Shingo is a worthy candidate for worst protagonist ever.

    I wanted to mention title individually - the day when television disappared. Sounds cool, but it's nothing but a pretty image for pasting TV screens and adding TV noise sounds wherever possible. The concept is that a certain day 12 years ago a comet struck the Earth and damaged its magnetic field. And you know what... magnetic field became too weak to support TV broadcasts, but it's absolutely enough to support mobile phone connection. But because this connection got weaker, almost no one brings phones nowadays. And you know what - all characters except Nagaru have one. So many contradictions that it's just lousy. Plane with Shingo parents lost control with the magnetic field damage and crashed. That's the whole connection of TV with the game concept. It's close to zero.

    What I want to conclude about TV no Kieta Hi is that it has nice heroines and graphics. Because pretty much everything except that is bad. All those immature characters bring only negative emotions. So, why is TV no Kieta Hi published under new brand Petit KeroQ ? It's not because company had that many works to give some ideas to subsidiaries. It's because game is of too low quality to fit KeroQ standarts. It's even so dark that it can't be published under Makura brand. Petit KeroQ is not a small KeroQ. It's a black shameful side of KeroQ.

Game starts as lively slapstick comedy, but methodically brings more serious and sad development varying greatly by individual route. Protagonist is to solve each problem. Only Haruka scenario brings zettai shiawase, though. Romance element is thin, but personal stories leave a positive impression.

    Akio is an ordinary uni student. But, there is one thing different from others. That is his great olfactory system. He somehow hides it, and lives a peaceful life. One day, Haruruko, his classmate, finds it, and his life suddenly turns around 180 degrees... Reviewing it myself blindly.  
    6. Aruji no Tame ni Kane wa Naru お嬢様の為に鐘は鳴る [070928] Atu Works

    There is a high school. Though it has huge school grounds and facilities, it is surrounded by tall walls. Closed society. No outsider can go inside. Actually, the school features the butler and maid training lessons. And, there is a local legend that if a master and a butler/maid swear under the clock tower located in the school, their relationship will last forever... Midway protagonist is forced to become butler, and game proceeds as a comedy. The flow with the characters is the same, and prioritizing one heroine gets to her individual route. After branch some problem arises, but nothing too serious to hurt tempo or comedy. Overall, nice even game.  
    7. Gocchiru -Lovely Lady Maker- ごっちる-ラブリーレディーメーカー- [070928] Tomato

    The main character used to be the boss of the soldiers. But, he lost his wife several years ago, and he's been depressed since then. One day, the god tells him to bring up a daughter of the god for two years. He reluctantly accepts it, and names her Cecile. If she doesn't grow up to be a "fine" girl, she'll be returned to the heaven. He works hard everyday, and one year passes. As a trial, the god grows her up, and she becomes an adult. She works hard for him as well, and they live a peaceful life together. But, she gradually falls in love with him, and tells him that she loves him. He also loves her, and they finally sleep together.... Will she be able to be a "fine" girl in the end...? SIM

He doesn't know what's going on, but his friends join this battle as well. Whom will he choose in the end...? Don't expect scenario from this game. It's exactly school love comedy with many tsundere. Heroines don't interact with each other enough, so it all goes down to individual heroine charm. There are some sudden fantasy elements like appearing from another world. Graphics and H element is traditionally strong for Terios game, but overall it's a mediocre work.  
    9. Hime-sama, Ote Yawaraka ni! 姫さまっ、お手やわらかに！ [070928] Giga

    One day, when Kenji enjoys a local festival with Chitose, Koko and Komomo, a girl, Pafin, suddenly bursts in saying, "I'll rule this town from now!" According to her, she is a direct descendant of the royal family. Will they be able to endure her ruling? Giga comedy that does not even happen at a cafe - that's rare. First playthrough is short, some 10 hours, next ones are much shorter. All routes are comical, absolutely zero drama. Abusive tsundere princess rocks, but other heroines are also bright, except, maybe, for childhood friend.

    Akira is a high school student who belongs to his school's astronomy club and enjoys his school life with the other members, including Kotone. He loves her, but can't confess his feelings to her. As summer comes closer, people around him fall in love with someone. What will happen to his love...? As usual for F&C, an everyday life charage. But at least they know what they are doing by now, so individual routes are rather long, and heroines vary a lot. By the scale of charage it's above average.

Game's based on manga, and things go crazy really fast, so little remains of sanity here, so scenario goes to trash bin. Two stories with varying art style develop in parallel. System remains same weird as in first Lost Script work, and it's not user friendly, to put it mildly.     As you see, game is a kusoge. Let me explain, why.

    Opening scene of the game is quite shocking, so let's start with it. Akio sees a girl lying on the floor. He is so fascinated by her smell, that he finds himself sticking his head under her skirt and sniffing. Girl cries "Gotcha" and holds him with her legs... It already starts as fetishist crap. Akio is forced to join her club - Haruruko Research Club. Haruruko is being really forceful, so she kind of coerces four other girls to join the club. The aim of the club is declared by Haruruko this way - "Watch me!". This actually develops into more fetishist crap like watch my private parts, watch me pee, let's strip every girl so that everyone's private parts could be examined and sniffed. That's some serious crap going on.

    But that alone can tolerated for a cast of colorful characters and great parody. But reality is much worse. Haruruko pales in comparison to real Haruhi, she is more like perverted double. But Haruruko is not even main heroine of the game, surprisingly. The most average of all girls - big-breasted Maria full of complexes about her body is imbued with alternative personality mixed with fantasy. But Maria absolutely pales in comparison with Mikuru Asahina, if there even was attempt to parody her as well (of which I doubt). There is no character even remotely reminding Yuki Nagato, so all the parody parts lock down on perverted and not interesting Hararuko. She is reckless, but not really as powerful. Like, when she molests another girl, protagonist can shout to leave the girl be, and Hararuko retreats defeated. It's one-sided, lacking depth personality.

    Other heroines include future predicting lady-like Nami, real nekomimi with tail Neneko and robot girl with monitor instead of head Trini Tron. Of course Tron lured most readers to try this game out, because it's super absurd. But expectations are betrayed once again. Tron is not much different from other heroines except for the fact that she has to do handjob instead of fellatio for obvious reason. And that was actually the only scene in the game that looked funny. 8665^2 absolutely lacks gags, humor, parody. Text is flat, and there is no excitement.

    But maybe romance was good? I would not say so. As you may see from game footage, common route is short, but individual routes are even shorter. There is too fast development and no depiction of love feeling birth at all. Like Akio helps the girl in some way which triggers a spree of H scenes in various places. And Haruruko route is shortest and most H intensive, basically, the worst. Maria True route adds only another absurd layer on top of that.

    The only question after playing this game is what the hell that was. Game fails in all its elements and can only lure occasional reader like me by expectations of the parody and weirdness of Trini Tron heroine. Btw, title 8665 is just Haruruko while read in katakana. In the end it's an ordinary moege that quickly loses all the mystery.

    I so liked this game's genre definition in one Japanese review as "Pure Love Nukige" that I took it for myself. It just fits so good. For decades eroge could be roughly divided in pure love and devil games, and devil games were inevitably nukige, so pure love and nukige could not be imagined coexisting. Moege usually lacked depth and affinity for heroines, so it's difficult to call them pure love. Tsurugi Otome Noah manages to present developed and pure hearted heroines without corrupting them. That's basically the secret of this game. Majority of Japanese reviews put really high scores because of it - 65 to 75. But for me any kind of nukige gets a huge penalty instantly. Heroines appeal bears little meaning for me as well, so your evaluation might be significantly higher after playing this game.

    One hour introduction is pretty much epic with the adventurers party consisting of Hero, Saint, Tank and Magician fighting the Demon King. But our protagonist tank Haruto gets killed by Demon King black spell. Haruto gets revived, but acquires appearance of Demon King and blackness that erodes his soul. Magician Sarlun says that cutting blackness out can lead to dire consequences, so she suggests to substitute darkness with purity of Hero Noa and Saint Orfilia... by everyday sex.

    Composition-wise there is one hour introduction and some two hour ending. Between that is 17 hours of fillers (it's with H events themselves cut already) with just everyday H events and devil general appearing who just joins the fun. That's it. Very simple and very stupid. Even those who evaluate game highly say that it should have been cut at least twice. I'll also mention that game seriously lacks normal CG and reuses CG and HCG widely. I counted some 30 H events in the game, and from midgame it's mostly 3P.

    Don't really what to say more about this game. If yuusha and saint girls manage to charm you, it's going to be a passable run. If not, welcome to my world of pain while playing this game.

    Studio e.go makes RPG mostly, but there's also a good number of AVG games. I remember trying one of their games long ago. It was not RPG, but had some weird repeating actions, and I just could not break through that loop or whatever it was. But in 2007 things must have changed completely already, so I can finally give this brand a new try.

    As you see from the scores, things did not go just as I expected. First, I got to battle explanation system. Was a pretty long explanation. And I never faced a single battle. Guess it was turned off in the settings by default of whatever, but I don't remember touching anything there besides text speed. Then there was a spot to hunt androids. And no choices advanced the story. So I kind of chose hunt more and do other things like going home more. And somehow story went on occasionally. And now imagine that situations like that arise constantly in the game. Sometimes such scene was rushed in a minute, sometimes it took some 50 minutes of real time skipping and trying variants. And on the *th time of choosing the same variants it somehow proceeded. I cut some pointless stumbling in the video, but there is still abundance of such moments with up to half an hour of pointless skipping. Maybe there is really some kind of battle experience that I needed to get, but I never saw any experience meter or points, so can't say. It's all super confusing. Those who played with battles turned on say that battles are meaningless since you always know enemy's dice and can always choose perfect dice out of three variants to counter that.

    Let's leave system weirdness be. We're here for the hard-boiled city fighting adventure, after all. Rex has a secret weapon - power to transform into Xvain who fights with the demon power. And if this power is misused, his humanity can be lost. And in game there are indeed variants at each of five chapters to rest or pray so that accumulated devil weariness is lifted each time. I wound not call story fine. With these random grinding layers it feels like story serves the fighting sequences, and not vice versa. Development is gentle with occasional humor moments. There are some nice characters like older brother or Slayer. And story can be enjoyed to a certain extent... if you can put up with no voicing. There is voicing in H scenes, but I cut them out clean in the video, so no luck here. What kind of game inserts voicing only in H scenes? Either game that wants to empathize heroines charm in special emotional moments or... nukige.

    And here we come to the dark side of the game. When I occasionally glanced at game gallery, I could not recognize this game. There are a lot of devil HCG which can only be gained by approaching H events under different stages of devilishness. There are thee stages, but it's reported that at every chapter you are forced to reset this meter to 0, and there aren't enough battles to raise this parameter. So all those violation scenes could only be unlocked by actually hacking the game. Wow, just wow. This game manages to fail as a tactical game, as a story game (not with all those battle insertions), as a charage (after final H event there is less than a minute till credits) and now even as a nukige.

    I really wanted to like this game, and I liked both battle nun Michelle and genius Rinse heroines. But I'm just not sure this game is even meant to be played this way as a pure-love action driven story. It feels more like RPG with actual RPG elements torn out. With every element examined the same word pops up in my mind. WEIRD.

    Liar-soft call this game class B and sell it really cheap, that's why there are some reviews, or rather impressions of it. Love & Dead was initially issued in three parts which is very rare, the last time something like that was done by C's Ware in Chikyuu no Heiwa o Mamoru tame, and it sold very bad, especially later parts. But Liar-Soft has a perfect reason for splitting their work this way. It's because each of three male editions include three heroines each having x4 good endings and several bad endings. As one reviewer counted, there is 81 unique ending, and 89 endings overall. Who in sane mind would want to play through 89 endings? I did not record bad endings (since they are basically either death or violation), but even I encountered 1-2 endings per hour of play, so you can see that this game is of episodic nature and thus quite difficult for evaluation. But I'll try.

    The content is quite strange. There are some school dialogues with scenes (except for Kai since he does not attend this school), then usually physical hooking up with some girl and then branch to follow one of three girls available. Zombie girl Sonomi is present for all the male protagonists. Hazuki is an easygoing heroine for Fuuta and Romio, the other heroines are unique for just one protagonist. Somehow, only these bonus heroines are actually interesting personality-wise - Uri, Reisa, Hatoko.

    As for protagonists, young actor Kai gives off the best impression of them all since he is just normal, nice and dates nice girls (except for Sonomi, but she's the marker heroine of the game, it can't be helped) and ends up on a date in a hotel every time. Fuuta is our good for nothing unreliable student, so girls have to be proactive. But teacher Romio is the worst since he coerces his heroines to H constantly, these routes are most H intensive.

    Scenario content is quite fun and fast-paced, but endings are super chaotic. Humanity dies couple times there or gets infected, or bestialized or whatever. Protagonists get killed 39 times, but we also win Nobel prize, win parliament elections and do other crazy stuff. Game concept is very simple - you either get love or death, and quite often death after love. Every galge deals with love, but it's more tricky with death. Zombie girl Sonomi is introduced to all protagonists routes as heroine to emphasize this second element. A lot of death situations get linked to Sonomi this way or another.

    So, Love & Dead is a very strange game. It tries to introduce evenly humor, H and shocking content, but becomes so complex structure-wise on the way that all these layers can hardly be tasted fully. In order to save structure logic I recordered only good endings, thus most of episodic shocking content and H gets missed. But at least love and humor are presented in full. Videos aren't long, so I don't see reasons not to sample some of Uri, Reisa or Sonomi routes and see how it goes.

You all know that winner is Dies irae as it's probably main visual novel of all times. First version from 2007 was quite raw, and there are some funny negative reviews from 2007-2008, but light found inner strength to polish this version and even freely give away it to original buyers.     To explain score split I need to return to Shirogane review. I disliked protagonist, unnatural romance, harem relations, focus on ero, obsession with loli heroines there. And now imagine that all that is fixed in the second game without adding new flaws. And that in short is why I'm so excited about Gouen no Soleil.

    Even worldview is better. It used to be pretty much usual world with school, childhood friend, older sister teacher and all that boring stuff while gradually trying to become powerful enough to oppose berserks. This time only very start happens at school, then strange girl comes to school with a humanized toad, and they teleport protagonist to a different world - world of chaos - in sister's body. So first of all all the conventional life ties get torn, plus chaotic nature of this world promises a lot of excitement. 

    And excitement we get. There are some outstanding characters and scenes including battles to encounter in this world, but everyday scenes still take the bulk of time. And what game really excels at is everyday scenes. Most of them happen in a mansion with all cliche attributes - sadist blonde mistress, butler and maids. Tempo is really good, and humor is everywhere, even in battle scenes. There's not a grain of boredom in this game, unless you play for the second time for a different heroine since many scenes are shared due to limit of two route branches.

    Let's say couple words about characters. There's no centerpiece heroine like Hagar this time, but heroines are nice and varied. It was strange to see both of maids get their endings, but maids personalities are also distinctive. Even Rin does not look like a loli most of the time, to my relief. As for protagonist, he/she is surprisingly decent as he/she familiarizes with this new world pretty fast. Most of the time protagonist spends time as a girl, and that girl has a face, so we don't associate ourselves with her, and it allows to skip all the horny-ness altogether, let alone think about harem. Apart of repeating masturbation scene in the bathroom there is hardly any cliche trap/body transfer moves. Finally we can focus on the story and heroines without persistent goal to get them in bed. H scenes are mostly focused in boss battles after defeat, so I absolutely did not feel any irritation with them. There are no those weird zooms, camera moves in H events from Shirogane, and length is short. Oh, should also mention that I've no complaints with art. I wish other Soleil  games had the same style as Gouen. 

    But what I describe looks very much like perfect 10/10 score. So what kind of flaws do I nitpick over this time? Well, setting is indeed chaotic, and it does not bother to give proper explanations to the reader. But there is another technical flaw - number of CG. The total number is 74 with variations which diverges from common case of around 100 CG. I don't really care that there are only 1 or 2 HCGs per scene, but game would really benefit form normal battle CG. As of now, all battles happen in text dialogue mode with some rare slashing effects laid upon character sprites. Heck, I barely scratched enough CG for this review. Oh, well, and I believe that perfect 10/10 visual novels should be serious stories. And given all the moe and comedy tilt I just can't call Gouen no Soleil a serious story.

    What we get in the end is a surprisingly appealing mix of genres. I'm weak to games relating in metafiction, and this time there aren't only references to Shirogane no Soleil, but also to Harukazedori ni, Tomarigi o let alone references to future games. I still intend to skip Skyfish SOL games, but perfectionist in me realizes how satisfying it is to unwind such complex web of ties in each game.

    Keito is appointed as the manager of a small youkan named Shichiyoutei in Shinkawa-chou. He is greeted by three maids Yurika, Ayumi and Fimnet, all with different personalities. It is said that kindness changes people and so their calm and quiet days begin. Can't block it since there is PSP version, but not going to discuss a niche fetish product.  
    3. Final Approach 2 ~1st Priority~ ふぁいなる・あぷろーち2～1st priority～ [080228] Princess Soft

    Makoto, a high school student, lost his parents a while ago, and he now lives at his mother's friend house. Just on the valentine's day, Anna, a popular idol, suddenly comes to his house and they get engaged. It seems Anna is tricked to marry Makoto. Though they object, they are forced to live together. However, his younger sister comes back abroad as well to live with them... Princess Soft manages to enrage me every time with each new sugary banal setting they create.  
    4. Night Wizard: Denial of the World [080228] 5pb. Games 1

    A PS2 game adaptation of the "Night Wizard!" anime that includes a new heroine. Renji Hiiragi is a member of an order of Night Wizards who protect the world from those who would plunge it into darkness. Night Wizards have special abilities and are armed with weapons called artifacts which allow them to attack discarnate beings known as Emulators. The Playstation 2 game starts off with a relatively lengthy interactive intro which sets up the characters, their relationships, and the travails that lie before them. The main portion of the game plays like an interactive novel where text is read and choices are selected to proceed further. When a battle pops up, simple combat commands are chosen to beat back enemy forces. Anime Spin-Off RPG  
    5. Nostradamus ni Kiitemiro♪ ノストラダムスに聞いてみろ♪ [080229] Lime

    Nagi is a high school student. He is quick to adapt, active, and likes girls. One day, a pretty girl, Stra, suddenly appears in front of him. She calls herself "The Prophecies of Nostradamus". In 1999, one of his famous prophecies failed, and people are still alive. According to her, Nostradamus sent her to this world to show his power. She predicts what will happen to him in the near future, and it all succeeds. It's just perfect.
    Like this, they begin to live together. School life full of laughter, troubles, and screams. What will happen to them in the end...? Unfortunately, game is not of end of the world scent, but, as you see from the synopsis, it's the oh so old and working setting of Can Can Bunny when magical girl starts to live together with protagonist and helps him reach love with other girls. And we even use "Prophet of the Day" every morning to announce events to happen during this day - that gets a serious SIM feeling, but it's actually hints to help capture each heroine. All heroines love protagonist from the start. Game has a destinctive H tilt as 4 out of 6 heroines have 3P scenes. As you see, it falls really well with the Moege catagory.  
    6. Zansho Omimai Moushiagemasu. ~Kimi to Sugoshita Ano Hi to Ima to~ 残暑お見舞い申し上げます。～君と過ごしたあの日と今と～ [080229] Meromero Cute

    The main character is a university student, living in the country. One day, he hears that the area around his university will disappear under the reservoir of storage dam. He thought his peaceful life would last forever, but he now knows how valuable to live peacefully... He and his friends decide to make a movie as a memory of their university life.     Wow, what an unusual experience. Let's start with the title, it's "Switch! What I think of summer". We inevitably picture some rural moege, probably with some trap or body exchange. And there's nothing like that in the game. Main character Tatsuya goes to school with childhood friends, meets other girls and plays video games at home. Bah, what a banal setting. Except for one this - all this also happens in the game that protagonist plays... Wait, what? So he's basically just our alter ego? He actually plays a romantic school ADV comedy which suddenly turns into eroge after opening movie, and some girls become really proactive. But what happens in the second part of the game is... real world... where girls from game world are present... Well, that's the best I can explain. Which is not that bad compared to game's explanation... which does not exist. Game utilizes a very strange difficult to understand setting, and it's not really clear, why. Is it just for that fantasy battle between a mage and a warrior?

    The development of the game is pretty simple. Period is about 20 days, and each day we just wake up, go to school, face some event, return home and sleep. Main part feels longer than needed. There are a lot of gags scattered around. Fun atmosphere dominates. H scenes can pop up unexpectedly. There are all signs of moege, so it must be one, right? Not sure, connection between events is weak, explanation does not exist, and questions without answers pile up. Tatsuya is a sissy, and everyone manipulates him as desired. Only childhood friend Sui likes him from the start, and tsundere Eri is drawn to him out of jealousy. Choices with heroines in game world affect relations in real world Relations develop in opportunistic manner. Endings are sudden.

    But then comes heroine Natsu route who hardly had any screen time at all. And she suddenly becomes main heroine while holding the keys to the setting and to the meaning of "switch". Moreover, we get to suddenly realize that title is not "What I think of summer", but "What I think of Natsu". She is this big of a loli heroine to be in title. And to throw another hook I'd even say that during the game we meet three different Tatsuya. It's not a spoiler since you would not guess why, anyway.

    So, "Switch!! ~Boku ga Natsu ni Omou Koto~" is a really strange game. It actually is a serious story that hides under a gag comedy facade. It's poorly directed and written, with average graphics, but it bears that mindscrew puzzle that an attentive reader might want to collect in his head. And I love such experiments. We need different visual novels. And this one is different among different.

    First of all, there are other English reviews 1 2 3 4. And since game is not story-focused, they cover pretty much everything I would. So I'll try something eccentric - compare this utsuge with the only nakige I still remember well - Moshimo Ashita ga Hare Naraba, or Moshiraba for short.

    So, despite spirit extension of Moshiraba, two games have actually much in common. Both have older sister and younger sister as main heroines, as well as a cast of several side heroines. In both games we date older sister, and younger sister has to love quietly. In both games older sister dies (oh, come on, everyone spoilers this about Aster, seriously, can't discuss anything without this spoiler), and younger sister becomes her substitute. It's overall a good move since we can constantly see different traits of older sister in younger sister, and this common love for older sister is a good enough tie already, as well as a tearjerker.

    But there are even more differences. In Moshiraba younger sister Tsubasa is seriously much younger than Akiho, so she has to compete for protagonist alongside two other side heroines - Tamami and Chihaya. In Aster all the competition is eliminated since side heroines have different protagonists and don't really intervene in other girls' routes. Saki officially becomes main heroine, furthermore because she looks identical with Saya. The biggest difference among the two games is that Tsubasa dies right in the first couple minutes of Moshiraba and then is only present as a ghost, so can't participate in normal human romantic relations. When there's a will, there's a way, so in Tsubasa route we make it work and also look for a way to revive her in some way. But Aster is purely realistic. Girl dies. Full stop. Move on in a different way.

    But let's cast aside obvious differences and focus on what makes us like both games. In Moshiraba focus is on the supernatural elements and close relations between sisters. But Tsubasa also has inferiority complex over her sister, so she cries a lot. In Aster older sister Saya can't have screen time after death, so prologue is devoted almost exclusively to her while main route becomes fixed on  younger sister Saki. Saki's advantage is that she is a mature nice girl who does not have dire complexes and does not really cry. Basically, Saki's pleasant personality becomes the thing that makes us love Aster. But what makes me love Moshiraba is cheerful older sister Tsubasa, other heroines pale in comparison to her. So in the end it is two sides of one coin - you either forget old love and try to substitute it with new relations or stay true to initial feelings. But in Aster - and thus in reality - there is no choice available, reality sucks. The fantasy concept of dating a ghost is more to my liking.

    But with all the differences both games are more or less on the same scale. Then why one is nakige and the other one is utsuge? Actually, I don't see a reason. Core definition of utsuge is that it leaves reader depressed, and most of the time these games have no happy end, no help, no hope... That's absolutely not true for Aster. We get happy end in all of the four routes. Yes, Saya dies, but it happens in the end of prologue, basically before the very game routes themselves even begin. So why should we be depressed over prologue in four big routes to come next? It does not make sense. Yes, in all four routes there is some sort of drama, but just as in nakige we get over it together with the girl and become stronger. It's an absolutely nakige trait. There is one more "utsuge" addition in Aster - it's the 10-minute after-story showing us Saya last moments that were omitted in prologue. So what? It's just extension of prologue, a touching scene to infuse reader with additional emotions before making a judgement and putting the game a score. It has zero conceptual meaning. There are nakige with deaths too, and Aster is exactly such case of a nakige with death. Main characters bear this burden of death all the time, but it's what we do in real life. We suck it up and move on. So do main characters of this game. Nakige is not what Key privatizes with its stupid humor first half and squeezing tears absolutely everywhere possible. Nakige is much wider than this. Ballade for Maria is an Utsuge. For Elise ~Elise no Tame ni~ is an Utsuge. Before calling something an utsuge, ask if it leaves you depressed. Calling games like Kira☆Kira and Aster utsuge is plain stupid as these are not depressing experiences.

    Foreword: Never faced crossovers in visual novels before, so expectations ranged from weird fandisk to something like Soukou Akki Muramasa since I rated both original games high.

    Synopsis: 
    Depending on which route you choose, you start out as either Alfred Arrowsmith, after his united front with Rick against Gustave, or Kuki Youkou after his final confrontation with Soushichi. Ungaikyou (literary means the mirror beyond the clouds), a youkai made from the failure attempt of the mirror of the three artifacts belonging to Amaterasu (the Sun god in Japanese mythology), has chosen these two to help them create a world of their own. In exchange, Alfred and Kuki are temporary exempt from going to the netherworld and finish their lingering desires…in their non-respective worlds.
    After the completion of the two stories, the final route—Chronobelt—unlocks. Almost immediately after Kuki and Alfred finish dealing with their lingering desires, invaders have slipped through the portals and into the Infinite Corridors (the space connecting the two worlds). Before long, team Ayakashibito is in a constant war with team Bullet Butlers in what can only be described as the city of Chaos.

    There are three English reviews (1 2 3) which actually portray the nature of the game vividly, but I could not understand some things from them, like length, structure of all three parts and how H events are incorporated. Basically, I needed decide for myself whether it's a fandisc or stand alone complex story.

    So, there are three parts - Ayakashibito where Rick helps to prepare school festival with Ayakashibito characters, Bullet Butlers where Kuki fulfills his revenge wish, and Chrono Belt where Soushichi gets in a time loop and faces antagonist together with other heroes. And I already see a problem here. Three separate episodes mean an anthology, and I seriously don't like anthologies. This time it's all familiar characters already, but three loosely connected stories with three different characters is not how a normal game should look like. If it's an integral work, then is there a connection between these stories? There definitely is. Basically, all three happen in different worlds, and there is a travel between these worlds by a means of some mirror or something. That's a very loose link. We basically destroy two perfectly normal worlds with additional supernatural elements just to satisfy our need in crossover. Are first two stories really needed for Chrono Belt? Actually, nope. These stories are introduced just to give Rick happy childhood that he never had and to show coolness of Kuki as he fights enemies of his specialization - youkai.

    How long are these stories? Rick episode has a lot of characters communicating with each other for some time, so it takes it rather slow ending up at 8 hours. Kuki episode is shorter and more straightforward, so it ended at 4 hours for me. Chrono Belt took 9 hours for me. These are pretty short lengths for finished stories. As for endings, there are just two branches at the very end with the final decision. It looks less and less like an integral game to me. There is also one unskippable bad ending linked to the nature of time loop. And it's a very bad ending when you need to do same things like 10 times over and over and get tentacle rape scene. Good job, Propeller!

    What are the most distinctive traits of a fandisc? Random H scenes, naturally. And Chrono Belt route is full of them. It all follows the same flow - Soushichi decides to go to some place - there he meets and spontaneously violates a girl - time loops back to where it started. Rinse and repeat with all the available girls. It's an absolutely disgusting move to introduce travel between worlds, time travel, get two rather conventional routes for each of the game just to throw in a nukige at the final True Route. I absolutely can't stand game's structure, nature and concept. Oh, and H scenes are same ugly as in original games.

    Hey, but did not I just put a masterpiece score for Chrono Belt? I did. The reason is that whenever I start to actually read those routes, they are really great. Not all heroines got much screen time, but writer really tried to saturate every second of gameplay with awesomeness. Dialogues, events and battles are top notch. I seriously dislike this stupid time loop as well as some innate murderous intent against characters of opposing game, but it's a very enjoyable read with nice additions to characters' personalities and cool ending.

    So, in conclusion, Chrono Belt is not a sequel or an integral game. It's a fandisc from all the sides - structure, length and H events. But it's a fandisc of two fantasy fighting plotge, so there is enough extension into chunige to appeal to all fans. I can't rate a fandisc any higher than that. I would not even recommend reading it if you don't want to see such detailed and finished stories to erode with sudden time and space continuum shifts. But if you liked both games and can get over some conventionality, then it's an enjoyable read and worthy addition to original games, though not outstanding as a separate product.

    Synopsis: 
    Shinobu Shindou was an ordinary highschool student.
    Except for the fact that he lost his memory 3 years ago.
    He heard that it had to do with an accident that occured back then.
    The shrine that he lived in burnt down, his parents passed away, and he was heavily injured.
    But even though it was a big incident, no one knew what caused it.
    Shinobu didn’t remember what happened either, and he wasn’t even certain that his real name was Shinobu Shindou.
    Losing his memory, losing his parents, he was only left with a feel of loss…
    The people who supported him in such situation were the members of the Morisaki family who had relationship with him since his childhood. Thanks to them, Shinobu was able to live a fairly normal life. He passes a peaceful time with Chisato Morisato, supposedly his childhood friend, her mother who was the head of the Morisaki family, and his other friends.
    But Shinobu feels he somehow doesn’t belong to this peaceful life.
    “There should be something I must do…”
    In order to ease his frustration, he heads to his home shrine where there is only a small monument left. This was where he always came when he had things to think about.
    When he swept the site while thinking about things, he felt relaxed. While doing that, a mysterious girl visted the site and left after telling him it’s dangerous here. When he was still wondering what that was all about, something attacks Shinobu. That didn’t look like a human or an animal, …but a monster.
    Even though Shinobu practiced swords with Chisato, he couldn’t do anything with a bamboo broom and was quickly cornered to the wall.
    When he thought it was all over, the sacred tree left in the Shrine gave off a shining ray of light.
    “Sigh, I can’t sleep when it’s so noisy here”
    A girl who appeared from the light and spoke in an proud tone said she was a god worshipped at this place…

    As usual, took the game for review blindly due to synopsis, but game already looked fishy with no scenario writer name and a total number of Japanese reviews being less than fingers on one hand.

    It's a deeply flawed game that's really hard not to drop, so I'll give away some plot spoilers. So main character returns to the place of the shrine where his parents died in a fire only to find an army of evil spirits led by Rasetsu who appeared in nightmares and Nayuta to take revenge on protagonist. But MC has amnesia (of course) and can only survive with the help of a goddess of a sacred tree who appears naked (of course). For some absolutely unexplained reason a whole bunch of warrior girls pour into the scene - Chisato, Rei and Ran. And since it's too troublesome to give a normal outcome, MC just faints and regains consciousness when everything is over. Convenient. Then SOL segment begins which is suddenly interrupted by appearance of Church agent Alice Crawford and sudden defeat of one of two enemies - Rasetsu. Individual routes vary to some extent, but eventually Nayuta awakens dreadful God of Destruction... who gets defeated in one hit just because MC remembered some deadly technique. SUPER convenient.

    Scenario is a hell of a mess. But I was also irritated by normal battles during patrol sequences. They use some rock-scissors-paper system for attacks and blocks and timings to take decisions, but they have absolutely zero meaning and can all be lost without any consequences. In this regard game really reminds me of Tamayura by Akabei Soft2. These battles bring nothing but irritation. By the way, spirit of the game also resembles Tamayura as both games center around shrine maidens that strive to strengthen spiritual barrier.

    Samayou Mitama ni Yasuragi no Toki o actually has much development for that minuscule length of 3 hours for common route, plus just 2 hours for each individual route. If there weren't five heroines, it would fit in just one video that's limited at 12 hours for youtube. Tempo is really bad. Explanations are scarce. Heroines are neither developed, nor moe. There's no humor worthy of mention. Game is so cliche and bland that there is basically nothing to talk about. Oh, and I hate all the stupid epicness. Well, art is actually pretty good.

    Wow, I have not encountered such trashy chunige for a long time since Toki no Kairou, Answer Dead and Ochiba no Mau Koro. What unites them is that they are unpleasant to play and also leave a bad aftertaste. Still, even such experience is useful as we need something to compare normal games with.

    She gathered the little Otokogi that was left in society and saved Ninkyonasa from destruction.
    A couple of decades has passed since then.
    Ninkyosa was in the verge of destruction again.
    Not only was Otokogi scarce, the Demon World Mafia was after their world.
    The Demon World Mafias were raising the price of land in different worlds one after another and make them their own. Hearing that Ninkyonasa was in danger, they have come down like hyenas. However, the magical girl in the past has already passed away, and her only child in the real world was a boy. At the time of the biggest crisis of Ninkyonasa, an appearance of a girl full of Otokogi was strongly wished for.
    …Meanwhile in the real world.
    Without knowing about a crisis in such alternate magical world, Buntarou Sugawara was living his laid back life. Although he had no parents, he was living a super positive life with his natural passion for girls. But one day his apartment burned down as a result of a fire. The daughter of his landlord, Hana Kiryuuin asks him nicely if he wants to stay at their house. He couldn’t refuse an offer from a cute girl, and he follows her to her house, just to find himself inside a home of Yakuzas!
    Although he was surprised at first, he finds out that this Kiryuu clan was fatherless, and he quickly decides to stay.     A difficult game to review, because each of four routes is very different even genre-wise, so it feels like four different games. Which is surprising since there is only one writer. Common route develops as a comedy, even as a bakage, but there is enough seriousness in the second half of individual routes. So let's overview these routes.

    Tsubasa route usually stands first in the walkthroughs, but it's the weakest routes of all. Our classmate turns into a loli magical girl, and development is boring taking place in the flat for the most part. This route also exists in isolation from other heroines, and there is no yakuza or serious conflict. Also it's the route just for the lulz, so ends as a real bakage. Sunao route is same short as Tsuabasa, but Sunao is the only heroine who can not transform into a magical girl. So this route focuses mostly on peculiar personality of Sunao and the importance of family. Quite an amusing route, but Sunao feels like a sub-heroine overall. Fiore route is about duality and conflict as she can be treated both as friend and enemy. A most touching and delicate story. Finally, Hana route feels like the True route as it has a complete ending and revelations about the concept of the game as a story about the second generation of magical girls. Hana also has a tremendously amusing personality, so it's a pleasure to read.

    Time to talk about disadvantages. Character designs are inconsistent, and some characters are pain to look at. Story is basically nothing extraordinary that actually can go without the magical girl part. There's no real excitement. Some parts are not explained like why MC faints or why he is so strong. Protagonist also is not too bright with main feature about him being quarelling with the girls and also being kind to girls as his mother taught him. There's also deficit of CG.

    But there are also many good sides. Game breaks aside from usual magical girl cliche and absolutely does not focus on moe. Text is easy to read, and tempo is good. Humor is great. There is enough passion and variety. What's most important for me is that atmosphere is light, and reading is really enjoyable.

    As a result, it's a very enjoyable light comedy with enough depth. I still think that Tsubasa route must be skipped as it does not contribute to the concept, ends up boring and finishes in a disappointing way making it droppable. But I don't remember the last time I read such a light-hearted yet absolutely clever game. And I treasure each such occasion. It might be not the most complex or exciting game, but I can easlily recommend it to everyone.

    The atrocity of the reoccurring homicides is revealed as it comes to this town.
    But in this town lives a student who goes out to meet the monster.
    He swings an invisible claw, and strikes the monster.
    In an instant, he swings again and pierces the monsters arm and finishes him.
    As a gust of wind blows, the girls appear.

    Let's start with the world view since story direction is not clear from the synopsis. Main character witnesses a mass killer incident consequences in his class and transferres to another school. But eventually he gets attacked by another mass murderer boy who belongs to Aion creatures. It appears that Aion killed people for generations - and currently Aion are countered by two organizations Rachelwood (Yukari) from the West and Samurai from the East (Ayami). Rachelwood eventually defeated Aion, but its pieces possessed six humans. Anything more than that would already be in the spoiler range.

    Traditionally, let's focus on downsides. First of all, game is short and could fully fit into one 12-hour video. I still split it to show the turning point between the routes (to treat or not to treat crepes to the girl, lol) and separate two big routes. It would be too much of a mess with all the four endings smashed together. And a lot of shortcomings come from this short length. Like there is no time for romance, so after telling the story it's it's H closely following confession. There is also lack of explanation like protagonist being ordinary student and desiring to protect peace of all people with his wooden kendo sword. I personally found text good, but it may appear monotonous at times. Graphics can be rough at times with CG looking different from standing character sprites (poor Madoka).

    Finally, good points! I found battle scenes well done, with enough sound and visual support, tempo. The story is not complex, but is clear for understanding and nice. There are two big routes where we get assisted by one of the organizations representative - Yukari or Ayami. But each of those routes has a side-heroine with her own ending - Madoka or Yume. There was also antagonist Yoriko end, but it was a bad ending with sudden death after H event, so did not insert it. There are also quite a few mysteries to uncover. Like origin of main character and his parents that he never knew. Also things like  Rachelwood sudden personality change from extremely cold to cheerful wordy one. 

    And we arrive to the question why this game is rather poorly evaluated. And I did not find an answer to this question. Japanese reviews name the same shortcomings which I see as nitpicking. Some mention that they had supreme expectations after strong promotion campaign done by LiLiM. But I had no expectations at all, so was rather surprised with the good quality of the game. As usual, I blame prejudices over chunige and excessive quality demands towards this genre. I enjoyed the game and definitely recommend it as a rather traditional Fate Stay Night variation chunige.

    I neglected the original work due to card battles, now it's basically the same work, but without card battles and with main Kiara route split by three with two new main heroines. There is also a new side route. There are many reasons for such mediocre scores.

    As usual, let's start with the concept. Main character studies at school and flirts with girls, but at nights transforms into a shikigami and fights monsters. Generally monster violation scenes are omitted or described without graphics, just once such light scene is shown. Of course eventually he draws a fish that he can't chew, but with the help of girl's awakening he totally rules. Quite an ordinary school battle chunige concept. And if you read the game just once it may seem to be a masterpiece. But then... 

    Getting to drawbacks. My main grudge is about game being too sleepy. I already used words mediocre and ordinary, and I can't stress them enough. Heroines don't really have outstanding personalities, and I still can't stand this Black Cyc character design. There is no humor. The flow is the same for all routes with a lot of scenes repeating. Text is plain. There is no reality feeling. Without battles focus on action scenes is pretty much gone. Battles have few CG. Seven routes is way too much for me. There is no integrity in the game. It's like a set of of stories with different endings.

    But of course game is not that bad. Couple routes endings were really nice. CG are not bad. Story is good enough to keep going. I failed to get motivated by it, but I've got a difficult history with Black Cyc and White Cyc. Don't take my word for granted, try it if you like the concept.

Using this opportunity, he transforms himself into a child and enters the neighboring school's playground, where high school girls of his age play innocently with children.     Game is a moege. A moege of very high quality, with twisted plot and True End, but still a moege. I'll never admit a moege as a masterpiece. I'm next to worst person to review a moege, so referring to other people's reviews might be more appropriate (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9). With that let's try to dissect our patient.

    Concept is quite nukige-looking as protagonist gets into younger version of himself with the help of magic candy and is able to infiltrate a long-sought girls' school. With first six heroines routes we basically ignore magic candy significance and just run after girls normally. Sometimes these routes are total crap plot-wise, but sometimes they may tackle protagonist's past and mental problems, so it's ok to read. There are many scenario writers, after all. Last two routes are totally different as they focus on magic side of the story, and many new characters suddenly jump out with a whirl of events and mystery revelation.

    My favorite part - downsides. The main word for this game in my opinion is "fatigue". There are as many as eight (!) heroines which is huge already, but each route on average took me eight hours to finish, pretty insane. But the main problem of the game is that there is nothing that makes all that time investment enjoyable. There aren't nakige elements. There is some perverted humor occasionally, but not the kind I can enjoy. Girls are cute, but scenario is not interesting till the very last two routes. Side characters are eyesores. And the last, but not the least - perverted protagonist. I can't stress it enough. This is what Supreme Candy is all about - sex talk. The number of H events is rather modest, 1-3 per heroine. But sex talk absolutely dominates in conversations and even normal SOL scenes. And it was absolutely killing me. I felt like reading a story written by a high school student with constant erection.

    And the upsides of the game are pretty much the same - an overwhelming amount of moe and sex talk. It's the first time I encounter anything like that, a very powerful mix able to drive crazy a beginner in visual novels or just admirer of moe. Superb graphics and character design emphasize the effect. We've already seen cute dirty minded girls in TV no Kieta Hi by Petit KeroQ, but quality levels of these two games are incomparable. In the end I see Supreme Candy as a supreme eroge. But I can't appreciate the best elements of it, so for me it's just a boring long game where nothing happens until the end where too much stuff happens, so it feels artificial and as an overkill. And only fatigue remains. At least I know now that Makura is the branch of KeroQ that specializes on pure love games.

    "Landforms and buildings have gone back to the past." People in Nanahama are confused, but they somehow keep on living there.

    I dropped this game once, but I still consider it a masterpiece. Nonsense? Not at all, because True Route elevated the score a lot for me. Basically, it's a nice even game with superb graphics and rather intriguing mystery. However, composition and concept are much more ambiguous. 

    So Volume 7 has introduction called "Outer world", three romance routes with three different couples called "Inner world", and finally "True world" which includes all the couples plus new characters as heroes pursue the mystery of Nanahama. First part mainly draws the world, introduces characters and creates a slow-pace calm atmosphere with nice youth story. Romance routes.... well, I don't care about them at all. Romance itself is quite hasty, and I don't really like to see H scenes of these defenseless heroines. First route is with the same protagonists as introduction route - Tomaru and Kyoka - so it's more or less natural transition to romance, but Ryugo and Kotora route is what made me drop this game. It's painted in so boring traditional Japanese colors that it makes me want to sleep. Third Yashiro and Sakura route is kind of weird because of age difference and overwhelming amount of H scenes. So I don't want to see these two last romance routes at all. "True world" is what all those 20+ introductory hours were for - fast-paced chaotic story from some 10 different viewpoints as we're told the many mysteries of this world

    Shortcomings. Such structure is already flawed as different people like different things in games, and introducing alien elements makes them feel that their beloved element is sacrificed. Some want charage while others require plotge, so it's really easy to flame this game. There is little explanation. Setting is too elaborate for Outer and Inner World parts. These parts also have really slow pace while True World has aggressive development. Characters are too childish. Story is too polite and lacks excitement. There is no catharsis in the ending, so final impression gets dulled. There's a lot to look down to.

    But benefits are very similar. Character are childish, but not naive. They are reasonable, charming and defenseless. Atmosphere is really great and warm, so first half is enjoyable and comfortable no matter the pace. True World actually has a genius concept as it shows many old scenes from different viewpoints or with continuation, or with knowing who person is talking to at this moment. Scenes that looked like fillers suddenly acquire meaning. It's not a game about passion or burning, so why expect a catharsis. You get so many mysteries revealed, so what more do you expect? It's an absolutely lovely game, but one word constantly pops up in my head while I think of Volume 7. Refreshing...

    Foreword: FlyingShine was never a good brand, it only flew and shined with invited writer stars like Tanaka Romeo, Setoguchi Ren'ya and Takemiya Yuyuko. But its works always try to seem more mysterious than they are. Kokorono is just like that - a game that I can't see through from the start, so yet another time I try even though nothing good can come from it.

    Synopsis:
    Just before summer holiday, Ryouta lives an uneventful life. Uneventful days, uneventful life, and uneventful surroundings... However, he still doesn't know he creates a delicate balance.... He still doesn't know what other people think... When Ryouta behaves differently, his uneventful life will end...

    Really low scores. But you should mind that I was not even sure about this game genre. It turned out to be a mix of yandere and utsuge, two genres that I detest. If you fancy such games and come with this idea in mind, it might even be a masterpice. But I'd like to say that I absolutely don't understand the meaning of yandere games. They look like side-genre from NTR as general idea that girls loves main character, then another girl shows up, and out of envy some bad deeds are done. But 2008 is the very beginning of yandere genre, at least outside of nukige niche, and Kokorono is a distorted yandere as there is no rival and no jealousy. So let's speak about concept.

    Main character basically lives with two childhood friends - Yuma and Makoto - who spend most of their time in his apartment. These friends also become main heroines of the game. There are also three side heroines that we meet at school and outdoors. Even after meeting these women, we still spend most of time with childhood friends. These side heroines have distinctive personality features and traumas that become basis for their corresponding routes. And these routes feel absolutely like normal galge, just with slightly strange girls. But what makes the essence of this game is main heroine Yuma and bad endings. As for the second, every story moves in a similar flow as main character meets a slightly crazy girl who moves towards destruction downhill. If we encourage her behavior, we inevitably see some bad ending. If we ignore the girl at some point, we get an empty neutral ending. And only if we balance attention with forbearance we can get to a good ending. It resembles training a pet, to be honest. And those bad endings can be both humiliating and bloody. But the second pillar of the game is Yuma. She is basically the only true yandere heroine, but she fills all the space around her, so she is very important for game concept and attractiveness. Basically, you can't like this game if you don't like Yuma. And this girl is nuts. Main character does not consider her a lover material, and just this makes her increasingly unstable. She is also the heroine who puts on her crazy face all the time even in everyday scenes. After that you can't really look calmly at her innocent face. Suffice to say that her story is the darkest one. And after clearing four heroines Makoto route opens up. He is actually a male, but for true route he magically turns into a girl, it's this stupid move. He is the lighter variant of Yuma with a transvestite twist, and considered the magical transformation he's introduced just to add more weirdness to the concept and leave at least something memorable (his bad male ending is more memorable, though).

    As for the downsides, for a game with score of 5/10 I can name many. CG are horrible. Characters are not attractive enough (except for Shizuko-sensei, she is the bomb). There's too much darkness and depression on a large scale. Content is subtle. Madness is better shown in Bifronte. Writing is mediocre. Protagonist is useless. There's no real mystery or story. What is to like here at all (except for Shizuko-sensei, naturally)?

    That was easy. But I'll try to name something good as well. Shizuko-sensei. She is sexy, but her personality is also great and positive. She is mature, and she does not mind sex education session if homework is done well. Can't stand Yuuko as she is a cheater. Miki is kind of antisocial tsundere with some serious brain damage, so not really cool. Character design is not bad... at least for the time heroines wear normal faces. Crazy faces look like ahegao to me, and ahegao is the absolute worst thing for me. Personal trauma stories are rather good. Yuma has some seriously twisted personality which draws most of emotions, and most yandere fans usually like her. As for me, I can't see the point of this game. It brings zero satisfaction and only negative emotions. Shizuko-sensei does not make reading worth it, but other heroines just suck, so it's a single heroine gallery.

    Foreword: There was very limited selection of games to choose from in December, but I chose Eien no Owari ni because of phrase unfinished masterpiece that I glanced in some review. The fact that Tama-Soft made Lost Child also matters a lot for me.

    Synopsis:
    There is a high school that will be closed down soon - one day, Keisuke transfers to that very specific school. On his first day, he visits the newspaper club, but Ryo, the club's leader, acts very coldly towards him. He soon finds out that the club has been doing nothing due to lack of club members. For some reason, the members are also very distant from each other...
    He gets interested in their strange relationship and decides to join the club. After joining, the atmosphere of the club gradually changes and their new relationship is established. However, he accidentally gets to know the reason why the members used to be distant to each other. It happened just when he transferred to the school...

    In the end it's a SOL nakige with a twist of mystery, so just not a fitting genre for me, but still a masterpiece! It usually says a lot. It's rare to find something original and with human-like heroines in nakige, but it's exactly such case. But let's not jump to conclusions before the main part.

    Concept is actually unusual. I can't avoid minor spoilers which are needed to promote uniqueness of this game. So Keisuke comes to school and tries to unite newspaper ghost club who suddenly broke apart after some incident last year. And first week of the game is just perfect, a supreme masterpiece. Then during second and third week nothing really new happens, and at all ends in super aggressive development and denouement. As for scenario parts, we start as Keisuke, but then after flagging a heroine we suddenly turn into past with another protagonist Keiichi. And we already know that something bad happened to Keiichi, which resulted in club stopping activities. And we eventually get to the point when this something bad happens. But afterwards we get to present already, but we can't be sure of protagonist identity anymore. It might be Keisuke, might be Keiichi, might be the same person. Keisuke disappears from everyone's memory. It remains as a big mystery. And basically in this game past determines future. Past incident is different for each heroine, so future differs greatly, but considered the bad incident it's unwise to expect a happy ending.

    There are a lot of downsides of this game, hence the unfinished masterpiece label. Engine is even worse than in Lost Child in my opinion. I did not find text speed settings, so in the end text drew not instantly for me, and with higher than needed speed. Scenario is not impressive and has inconsistencies of common route with individual routes due to multiple scenario writers. Heroines are not flashy and lack charm. There are a lot of colorful side-characters, but none of them has voicing, so silence can last for a long time. Hozuki route is significantly shorter than the other two, and since Hozuki route is supposed to be the last, it creates a bad aftertaste. Absence of happy ending does not help evaluation either. There are only three routes which is below standard of four-five nowadays. No true route.

    In game's defense, it is able to nurture sense of uniqueness and present great nostalgia atmosphere and bgm. First week is the paragon of an inspiring beginning. Game is able to remain mysterious thanks to the false protagonist move. Heroines in this game are very human-like, not tied by any cliche. Clumsy relations with these heroines are really cute. It's very rare nowadays when creators realize the inevitable bad impression, but stay true to their concept and don't introduce standard elements to appeal to everyone. Eien no Owari is the last and lesser known game of Tama-Soft, but discovering such gems is twice as pleasant.
