  1. It's because the person who is the reason that I'm doing this lives in the US. So I use CDT as a timezone since that person has the patience of a fish sandwich, and probably wouldn't even look it up if I used a swedish timezone.
  2. The fact that this thing even exists:
  3. Katatsumuri's Sakura Angels stream Today 19:00 CDT/ 18:00 CST The second game in a franchise of cheap fanservice, improbable situations, shoddy writing, and a "large" variety of plots Plot Description: Two girls, blessed with magical powers, are faced with the task of saving the lonely protagonist from the clutches of a mysterious witch and ancient evil, sealed away long ago by his ancestors. What does this sorceress want from our protagonist? [Description directly taken from Steam] Sakura Angels: the second game in the (now no longer) borderline pornographic Sakura franchise of VNs, will be streamed by yours truly from 19:00 CDT, to the point whenever I am done with it and never have to touch it again. It probably hasn't been made clear already, but I do not house any kinds of feelings of love for the Sakura franchise, so any potential viewers will have to expect several things outlined below. What you can expect from the stream: -Frustration -Exasperation -Insults aimed in Sakura Angels' general direction -The absence of any kind of VN streaming experience -Potato quality live commentary -Actual Sakura Angels gameplay Stream is over http://www.twitch.tv/the_evil_snail Note: the Stream Advertised here is going to happen due to a bet made between me, and another member of Fuwa. Yes, It's happening, ****, I told you so.
  4. Thank you. I am however expecting quite a lot of these. I posted the same thing myself "back in the day"
  5. Hi people, Katatsumuri here,. So, after a several month long hiatus, I am back here on Fuwa. You might have entered this thread out of curiosity, and now you are staring at this text. You might be thinking "what does this person mean by 'reintroduction' anyway, I don't remember him.", and then cease to pay any attention after leaving a mindless "welcome to the forums" post just to get your post count up. But for those who don't know who I am, or quite frankly, those who don't even remember me or my few and rather insignificant posts, then this is for you: I'm Katatsumuri, and I started reading VNs back in 2011 when I began reading Fate/stay night out of boredom and quickly found it to be an amazing read, quite unlike anything I had read before. This is what jump-started the foray into VNs that has been going on throughout the years. Since then, I have started studying writing and narrative design due to the influence of some VNs, and have written some minor things for smaller projects as well. As of October 2013, I joined Fuwa with an introduction thread quite unlike this one, and spent a considerable amount of time here; was even a board mod at one point. But as of March/April 2015, I found myself visiting the site less and less, eventually leaving altogether. However, after a brief return a few days ago, I decided to return in full, hence this thread. Things I appreciate when reading VNs: -Multiple protagonists -Female protagonists, or at least female PoVs. -Linear stories -Clichés and classic tropes used well -Voiced protagonists (when Voice-acting is common in the VN itself) -clever writing Things I do not appreciate when reading VNs: -Clichés and classic tropes used poorly -Faceless protagonists -cheap fanservice -improbable situations as a result of shoddy writing -Shoddy writing Favorite VN (don't bother with my VNDB list, it's outdated anyway): Shikkoku no Sharnoth -what a beautiful tomorrow- And I suppose that's it.
  6. Doing that will just result in yes-men, because it would still be similar to a LB fan reviewing LB. Sure, the premise sounds different when it comes to genre. But it's still similar. Besides, that kind of logic can still be summed up as "People who don't like it the genre, shouldn't review it", and further arguing about that point is kinda redundant. All in all, don't treat a review as an all powerful gospel written a deity somewhere. It's just some opinions which are more formally presented than your average bunch of opinions. Edit: Shouldn't it be "Reviewers should review the genres they like play a lot of"? While liking a genre is somewhat correlated to playing a lot of games of that particular genre, it doesn't that the person is a master in pointing out stuff in it. In actuality, I tend to find the opposite of liking a genre to be the best starting ground for reviewing something. Why are we even having this discussion about a more formal presentation of opinions review?
  7. Just take it and dump that vile, toxin in the nearest harbor. Show the world that you have the FREEDOM and energy to make good reviews. Someone, somewhere Probably believes in you.
  8. But shouldn't it be obvious to many people that reviews are in and themselves subjective? But sure, one option could be be to just have a banner on the page reading: "All reviews are based on the reviewers opinion, as they *must* be to be reviews, otherwise they are just descriptions. If you have a differing opinion and obviously knows better than a particular reviewer; then don't waste your energy writing a TL:DR complaint, instead join Fuwareviews and use that energy to make reviews of your own."
  9. What are you even doing here? I haven't been here in months.

  10. ... Did you just snowclone Miyasaki on the whole "Visual Novels were a mistake" thing? Anyways, fappy 3000th post, you salty pancake-man!
  11. So... a lottery? Then I'll take the numbers 5 13 24 36 42 Never mind, I'll join the illustrious group of skipping people.
  12. Damn you batty. Damn you and your fun (and difficult) anagrams.

  13. That thing in the background (who is currently stumped by anagrams)
