  1. Currently going through Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai, which to this point has been absolutely amazing, though Natsuki's route was absolutely the weakest link thus far (despite me still loving her as a character). And now I'm on my final route, which is Rikka's, which I had been looking forward to as I've heard all kinds of praise for it even in comparison to the others. However... I'm not seeing it yet. Rikka herself, despite being absolutely fine in the other routes, is coming across as extremely unlikable and bitchy for seemingly no reason and I absolutely hate it.

  2. In my opinion, Zesty was never actually a great game to begin with. There were a number of issues with the story and writing that couldn't be fixed even with the best translation in the world.

On topic: It can get a bit heavy in the drama department during the heroine routes but the Da Capo trilogy, and Dal Segno as well to a much lesser extent, are some of my favorite VNs.

Hoshizora no Memoria is my favorite VN of all time and is very light hearted a majority of the time.

Noble Works was pretty fantastic if you can stomach the setting and the MC being downright pessimistic some of the time.

I also absolutely loved Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort and Canvas 2, though the both of them can again get kind of depressing during the actual routes themselves.

As for something that's more or less just fluff and yet still manages to be a fun read, I've only finished one route but I've been going through Magical Marriage Lunatics and been enjoying it a lot.

Prioritise according to how I rank the girls. I do them in reverse order except for the first heroine I choose which is my 2nd favoured because if I start with my least favourite there's a chance I might give up before giving the game a good enough go. So for example if there are 5 heroines, my play order is 2, 5, 4, 3, 1. Yes it is a conscious decision every time, though sometimes a heroine surprises me or disappoints me depending on the quality of the route of course.

My approach is usually this, with very few exceptions.

    Looks horrible. Hard pass.

I just need to say that I find it to be hilarious when people say things like hard pass. You would be surprised at the sorts of things that curiosity and a lot of boredom are capable of while working together.

As for this game itself, it looks pretty fantastic, personal tastes aside. I'm not generally into stuff like this but I think if this does get localized, I might actually give it a go and see what happens.

  5. Probably Da Capo though Majikoi is a close second. I haven't yet read Kara no Shoujo or Galaxy Angel (despite my best attempts for the latter) and as far as Grisaia is concerned I'm not all too interested in Meikyuu or Rakuen.

  6. I would say either Planetarian or Little Busters as I haven't yet red Air or Harmonia and admittedly for Kanon the 2006 version of the anime is much much better. Rewrite is good too but in terms of Key works seems to come out of left field, being very very different from the rest of their works.

In the early days of my VN reading I made the mistake of buying https://vndb.org/v979 during sale on Mangagamer without doing research.  I figured I’d just skip the loli routes (not my thing, sorry loli fans) only to find out that you have to do them to unlock a bunch of other routes.  It’s one of only two VNs I totally dropped so far.  What made it garbage over the other one I dropped is that the other one is free.

What? There's only one loli route, which is also an incest route if you're into that, and it's only required to unlock one route. Though said unlockable route for me personally is the worst route in the game regardless so you wouldn't be missing much. The rest of the VN is very good, according to my tastes at least.

Grisaia no Kajitsu has two routes that are basically nakige formula: Sachi's and Michiru's. You could argue for Amane's but I'd put that in a different category.

You don't have ONE listed, and you might not know about it. Technically not Key~

Kira☆Kira has some nakigeish stuff as well in some routes.

LEAVEs probably qualifies, though you might hate me for the rec later if you don't like how the ending is handled.

'Nakigeish' is putting it lightly for Kira Kira. It gets straight up evil and soul crushing at points.

Playing through Starless, have gone through 6 of 10 endings now. Believed I was prepared for how messed up things would get (I was wrong).

You sir, are a much stronger man than I. I got like.. two or three endings and then called it quits as I just couldn't take it anymore.

I usually lie in my bed with the notebook by my side... Wow, I must look super lazy now...

This most of the time. Though sometimes I'll sit up if I happen to be playing something heavy on excitement and action.

  11. Tsukihime: Either a sequel ooooor we could finally get that remake instead of being constantly teased with tiny tidbits instead of oh i don't know.. a release date or something.

Da Capo: DC 3 was really more like a prequel than a sequel, which is fine and all, but that world they set up during the prologue is completely ignored. I understand there's still the fandiscs but that's really not enough, especially considering that the time gap, as short as it was, between the end of 2 and the beginning of 3's prologue that could most definitely make up a full fledged VN in and of itself. (Also any excuse to have more Da Capo is good in my book.)

Rewrite: If only because I absolutely hate the true ending and I feel that a sequel might be able to take some of the sting off as it would make it actually feel worth something.

  12. Majikoi seems like it may fit here, so long as it's the original. It might just be me but I feel like the sequel puts much more emphasis on Yamato himself over the heroines, him playing a much more central role in the routes rather than just taking part behind the scenes and watching those more powerful take the forefront, unlike in the original where it's the heroines that play the role of hero(ine) more often than not.

  13. If any Type-Moon works were to get localized I would want it to be Tsukihime but that seems even more impossible to happen than Fate. UNLESS WE GET THAT REMAKE WE WERE PROMISED NASU.

As an aside, I can't see anyone cucking JAST. They may be slooooooooooow but the stuff that they come out with is generally pretty high quality.

As for what I personally want to see I would want to see something along the lines of Shin Koihime Musou (Probably unlikely), White Album 2 (also unlikely), any Eushully title, Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, and there are probably others but that's all that really comes to mind right now.

Classic tsunderes are amongst my favorites, but the modern "Sunao janai" version that is randomly violent is something I hate.

In archetypes, I dislike the Osananajimi, because it almost always is used to hide a lack of character development.  All the other archetypes have varieties and different paths their characters can go, but the childhood friend seems to be doomed to be terrible.

Ehhh I wouldn't really say that the Osanajimi is all that bad as more often than not it's the protagonist that ruins it rather than the heroine herself.

As for myself, I really can't stand Yanderes. A lot of the time they just feel like they don't belong, or are simply horribly written, and I just don't get the appeal to them in any sense. There is just one, and probably forever just one, Yandere that I like and that's simply because she seems to have gone crazy for a legitimate reason rather than simply being that way because the writer thought it would be fun to have a Yandere.

  15. Having read through the original Muv-Luv myself fairly recently, I don't really understand all the hate that Extra gets. I found it to be rather enjoyable most of the time, though it did make me rather angry at points.

    Spoiler

If I have any complaints it's that I feel like in the end Sumika unfairly got the shaft, for a number of reasons ranging from Takeru's treatment of her to how the VN itself seems to think of her very existence as nonvital.

As for the topic at hand.. I have a few weird, short VNs such as Otomaid@Cafe or Escalation ~Kuruai no Fugue~ that I enjoyed to some extent but would never actually recommend to another person for a number of reasons.
