I always thought like-to-post ratio was a good metric of someone's forum-foo. It's a shame CoC skews the figure, but Fiddle deserves respect nonetheless.
It still kinda is though, everyone has a personality that they build up through their posts, and likes are strongly connected to that.
edit: offensive

Because when you have one of the best endings ever, the true end basically feels like the obligatory thing you add because people wants their shitty happy ending, and even so, they wanted a true happy ending? give us more contents, not a fucking ending credit and a useless scene at the end.
Fair enough, everyone reacts to it in their own way I suppose. I still disagree on the shitty part, but the other way would also have been amazing.

I have finished Clannad.
My final review of Clannad is a 7.5/10
Clannad : for the first part, Kotomi route is the best, Tomoyo is best girl.
Clannad after story : WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!/10 and lame true end.
That's all, i feel...exhausted...
I don't really understand why people give the true end so much shit. Clannad was never meant to be realistic from the start. It's true that the ending contradicts the message that AS had been building up, but if all those lessons about the power of family and moving on from your loss genuinely had an impact on you, you wouldn't just forget all of that because of an inconsistent ending. I think the point of the happy ending was to make people remember the rest of AS in a more positive light, and personally, I was so emotionally swept along by AS that the ending only made me cry harder out of sheer relief.

More like making themselves into a laughingstock. Are they even aware how modern interwebs work?
Clearly not, when they pay attention to 4chan

I have this weird bug where some letters get displaced and it makes the game very annoying to read
I'm on windows 10, I'm pretty sure I've installed the supplementary font packs and as far as I can tell, there's no in-game setting for fonts.
Anyone?

I'm having this problem now with the Forest translation. It doesn't seem to have a config option for fonts, and installing the supplementary font pack doesn't work.

I just rewrote all of the comments on my vndb list. because I wasn't satisfied with them, because I have way too much time and because I wanted to gush about Planetarian. Again.

Yeah, if the German authorities see such stuff in the Steam version it's pretty much game over.
You mean it won't appear in the German version of steam or the German government will somehow force valve to take it off steam entirely? that would be pretty ridiculous and against freedom of expression

Isn't DI basically like Dark Souls? As in, it's extremely slow and trashy but so hard that people get a kick out of being able to read it?

Oh yeah, here's a thread I made a while back asking the same question
Clephas also recommended Hapymaher back then, so with mangagamer picking it up, it's a relevant suggestion

Planetarian was pretty good but didn't suck me in that much, but Saya no Uta was wonderful.
Then you'd probably like swan song. Also, maybe check out fault milestone. It's a bit infodumpy, but with the recent retranslation, I highly recommend it.

Read Planetarian and Saya no Uta. What's this "steampunk series"?
https://vndb.org/v417 just start with this one
Also, kinda curious what you thought of those two, maybe i can help you more. I'm also a huge sucker for good atmosphere, but it works different for everyone

Planetarian, if you have the right mind for it, sucks you in like nothing else out there.
Also, A lot of Liarsoft titles do it well, particularly the steampunk series .
Play Saya no Uta if you haven't already, it fits more with your examples.

"It's the mosaics!" is a very simplistic explanation of the reasons underlying fundamental differences in porn content between Japan and the rest of the world. That certainly affects camera angles and such, but does not suddenly create demand for immersive experiences.
This difference in supply and demand of immersive *visual* pornographic experiences can be explained by fundamentally different cultural attitudes towards pornographic content. In the West, sex entertainment tends to focus on instant gratification: short, cheap experiences. The audience isn't interested in investing the time and attention required for drama and situational eroticism, nor are they willing to pay for it. In addition, the deep objectification of women, including psychological dependence on the "protagonist", seen in Japanese porn is viewed as disgusting by many in the Western audience. They find more shallow portrayals less offensive.
That's not to say that developed situational eroticism doesn't exist in Western culture. But it tends to take place in smut fiction novels rather than in visual formats, and it's usually targeted at females.
THANK YOU

I actually share your opinion in many ways, but that's just what it is; an opinion.
you use the term 'quality porn' and that is purely your opinion. exploration and appreciation of fetishes is a good thing, but so are hot actors and highly detailed genital action. you just don't care about them as much.
43 minutes ago, Tyrosyn said:Western countries actually are pretty progressive and open-minded.
They really aren't, not in the way the Japanese will allow (for example) a full, graphical and character-focused relationship between a middle-aged teacher and his 8 year-old student.
43 minutes ago, Tyrosyn said:I'm not sure I understand your argument. Tropes are not bad. Of course porn relies on tropes. These tropes are called fetishes and they're the reason we watch this.
The difference in quality between Western and Japanese pron is simply how much these fetishes are explored and appreciated. That's not what I meant. I meant that Japanese pron now has a closet full of those tropes/fetishes, and more or less lives off recycling them with less and less effort in characterization.
43 minutes ago, Tyrosyn said:Don't be a pleb and only watch what JList has in stock or what's popular on xhamster when you search for "asian". What you are describing are Debut JAVs and they are probably the most cheap and boring genre of the medium. And sadly the only thing that is actively advertised to gaijins. Don't let that fool you. The world of JAVs is much, much more than this.
Yeah, and I can say something very similar about western porn.

Censoring is the only reason that Japanese porn is leagues above the porn from every other country.
I really don't think so.
The main reason why western porn just relies on full nudity is that because of our christian roots, we are still very prudish and seeing another person naked is exciting.
Japanese culture has never been very prudish, sex has been a normal topic of conversation and children are allowed to see nipples. their porn can't just rely on voyeurism.
Also, you seem to be implying that all japanese porn relies on good settings, dialogues, characters, fetishes and so on, but from my experience, most of it relies on recycling tropes, tropes and more tropes, just like western porn.
Feel free to disagree on all of this, but I think claiming it's the ONLY reason is bullshit, culture is always important in these things.

The medieval English theme seems very interesting, It would be nice to see it attempt to emulate some of the folklore from that period.
I'm actually pretty hyped for this, I hope it doesn't take too long to come out.
