  1. Not really much of a spoiler, but i'll use spoiler tag anyway.

Dat feeling when you play a vn for hours upon hours and it's pretty original and fun, then stumble upon chapter 4 and it turns into some shitty harem-esque scenario chock full of shitty harem tropes. Yuki transfering, abusive female (Mizuha), Haru unleashed (main character suddenly a replacement for Kanon and forced into her idiotic game) and a tad more submissive male characters all of a sudden, probably to fit this shitty scenario.

I know someone would argue my point of abusive female because our main character can be a real bastard, and that is true. Yet, he's done nothing towards Mizhua, and yet she only treats him and Eiichi like shit, even after the CD accident. Her argument for disliking Kyouske earlier was because she thought he'd exploit her for her money, but that falls flat on it's face when she suddenly starts befriending everyone else. This is just shitty writing in order to please people with shitty taste in anime/manga/vn. Hope her good ending ends with the marriage Kyouske planned or someone twisting her neck 360 degrees. So sick and tired of this type of character in anime/manga.

Damn, i'm seriously starting to dislike this VN. The Yuki number game was really annoying, typical anime crap you see in anime with terrible characters. The main character was cool and smart during the first part in the game, but he's taking the backseat now. Christ sake, even Gonzou was transformed into a intellectual mastermind.

  2. It's a relatively fun read as long as you don't think too much about the bad bits.

I haven't finished it yet and am only at around the middle of chapter 3, but i can't help but find the whole thing ridiculous. Obviously Maou is the only one knowing he shares his body with another persona, so that he can keep his distance and keep dragging this cat and mouse game forever... Another thing is the convenient switches, while talking about switches Kyouske must feel really weird when he stands on the street with different clothes and another phone on him all of a sudden. At this point i hope they pull an asstwist so that kyouske doesn't suffer from multiple personality disorder after all, because the way this is handled is as stupid as it gets.

  3. Thanks, but i feel this vn has been somewhat ruined for me seeing as a giant spoiler was plain to see on vndb.

Character with multiple personalities, and it's been pretty much hinted a few times even if i wasn't spoiled. Kyouske being Maou and this will be a cat and mouse game until Maou/Kyouske loses in the end (this being the usual scenario). I hope the story isn't this simplistic cause i've seen it praised pretty much everywhere. If the story won't offer me anything then i'd rather play something else, but if it i'm completely off marks or that it will surprise me with something good then i'll continue, because this vn is pretty damn good thus far.

  4. How are the routes in this vn? Does the story take completely new turns for each heroine or is it the same story with different heroines? I haven't reached the part where i can start going for one yet. I really only have experience with key vn's so i don't know how other companies do stuff like this.

  5. LB!'s post-refrain

Riki waking up in da hospital with Rin in the corner holding her knees. Super sad, but also one of the best bittersweets cuz of all the thematics of their friends doing the magical timeloop crap in order to let the two be strong enough to live on their own.

Then it becomes the most BS VN moment 3 seconds later cuz yeah hurr durr JK, you two becomes stronger than strong and so we can reverse time narcolepsy go poof brah ERRBODY LIVES!@#

    Rewrite Shizuru end

What a complete downer ending mang. Errbody dies!@# And Kotarou turns into a fking tree. WTF.

    Symphonic Rain Lise

Just seeing the poor kawaii Lise end up in the hospital losing her memory cuz of big bad Grave ;-;. Fk Grave.

  6. Seen two walkthroughs which say that 21/5 you'll get a option to select "Komari" but that doesn't happen in my game. Not sure how much this matters, but i'd love to figure out why the walkthroughs doesn't match my game, because if i'm doing silly mistakes it might be a bigger problem in the future, for this heroine and others.

Edit: Ohh, after further research it seems to be something that unlocks after the true ending.

  7. Yeah, i know. It's the very beginning of the heroine path that changed even though the events leading up to it are the same. One time everyone leaves you and your memory is lost, next time half of them are there and your memory is in tact and then they leave. While i can buy Kotori wiping my emotional memory of her during her path, i can't really understand why the rest of the group are acting so vastly different at the very start of the heroine path. They should have stuck with everyone vanishing and focused on how you got back in touch with your chosen heroine and had a complete separate story from there on out. Just changing such things kind of detaches you from the story. Did so for me at least. But as i said, heroine paths are fun and interesting anyway.

  8. But this title does somewhat try to be a different perspective title, it just somewhat stumbled in the process. That's how i feel. Most things have been consistent with the first route thus far, taking into account that you're somewhere else doing something else of course.

I think the reason for this is that ultimately, it's not very interesting to watch the same events unfold multiple times in slightly different ways. The Endless Eight arc of Haruhi, for example, is one of the most hated story arcs in anime history despite being part of one of the otherwise most-watched shows.

I do think it's possible to keep certain elements consistent between routes if the developer really wanted to try, and at times I've also been jarred by story elements disappearing from one route to another for the sake of plot expediency. However, it's best to think of most VNs as being several different stories packaged on top of one common setting and character set, which it is the job of the common route to introduce, rather than to think of them as an over-arching narrative told through multiple routes (which usually isn't the case).

I've personally struggled with this a lot. The game I'm developing takes consideration of the strange genre convention of replaying a common route over and over to see different stories later on. I've never loved that convention, so I'm not using it. But I still wanted the player to be able to experience each different branch of the story as a unique experience. Figuring out the best way to structure it has been a challenge.

One game I respect in that regard is Majikoi. Its "common route" is actually a series of sub-stories that allow you to choose which heroine's route you want to see without ever replaying the same content.

It's just the leadup to the separation that boggles me that they change. It should be the same before you head off with your chosen heroine, unless you do something really different in the common path of course. Which hasn't happened here. People just acted differently which felt really weird.

  9. I just think it could have been handled a bit smarter. It kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. And with the common path being what it is, it shouldn't deviate in this manner if it the story was any good. But as you know, it's my first VN, so i don't know how most VN handles heroine paths and such. Fortunately the heroine paths are interesting thus far, so i think i'll continue until i've finished it!

  10. Yes, they did. With Kotori you were alone at school with no occult members for weeks (you also found the prez's letter on the desk saying you need to be patient and wait), and suddenly Kotori appears at her home again. I'm in the middle of the second heroine path now (Chihaya) so i was just puzzled by the fact that everything was different at the point where the difference between the two paths should be next to none. At least those weeks at school with no other occult members. I was just hoping it wasn't just a silly plot hole or bad writing.

  11. Hmm, does it have any negative effects to use powers? I'd like to use them, but it's always a matter of using it or not and that gives me the inkling that using it will bring some negative effects. I don't mind the vague spoiler if i'm free to use it or not.

  12. I have only seen choices for characters, so i haven't been spoiled at anything plotwise. Are the quests and such really necessary? I do want to see proper endings and such of course, but if they are only there to waste your time then i won't care about the quests.

  13. If I remember correctly there are no bad endings in this VN - here are no choices in routes whatsoever (though some routes don't end very happily...)

I think you can choose Chihaya at the end of the Kotori route for a bad ending.

  14. I wouldn't worry about it. Going through one route would not spoil another route. I would also say that Rewrite is ... different from previous Key VNs so expect to be surprised.

Yeah, the longer i play the worse it gets. I'm at oct 18 and it stands out even more as a haremish high school rom com with it's typical tropes. The other Key productions that i've seen had soul, this is becoming generic. I do hope something picks up soon.

  15. Does that mean things that shouldn't be different is different depending on the route?

Key games is more or less about tragedy as far as i have experienced from watching anime based on their VN's. If rewrite is the same, would one route spoil another? Like finding out what happens to another girl which would come of as a surprise when you're actually going her route.
