Is Minatosoft making more majikoi?

I dont know man, my first impression of Majikoi S is kind off...weak...

 

The soundtrack in the first one was much better, be it the catchy kawakami sky, uplifting competing youngsters, or hilariously over-the-top kuki theme.

The translation also seems to be fairly meh from what ive read so far.

 

The common route is utter crap and doesnt offer any kickstart to the story, and the story itself is feels like writers were trying a bit too hard with the over the top moments.

 

I dunno, I will read on and make a complete opinion on it at the end of the route.

 

And yes, Mayuuchi FTW :D

Btw while I agree that OST was better in the original game, I think the story is as great as it was in the original.

I def. agree with Nightmare about the music.

 

I disagree about the translation being "meh" though, the translation is decent (errors here and there, but overall accurate) - it's the content the team had to work with that's suspect - no matter the quality of the team, if the story is blarg to begin with, no amount of effort can fix it, lol...

 

I'm not sure what happened over at Minatosoft, but it really does give off the impression they either cut back on financing, or just stopped caring - or they switched writers? There's a ton of wasted potential in Majikoi S, like half-cooked ideas not fully realized.

 

Tsubame's route was clearly given the most attention by the devs, and meant to be the primary route - with Koyuki and Monshiro as runner-ups. The rest makes me think this is more of a fan disk then an actual sequel (was there really a need to expend resources and time on more after-porn content for the Kazama family members? At least the ones that already got an afterstory in the first VN?).

 

Maybe I'm just cranky because (favorite girl) Kokoro's story turned out to be nothing but porn with a really flimsy story attached. :salt:  Not as bad as Margit, but still. :P

 

To be fair, I really did like Koyuki's story, and the overall humor in the VN gave me plenty of laughs, at least when Yamato wasn't being too rapey.

 

The new characters have a lot of potential...but time will tell~ (Hopeful for a good story about Yoshitsune)

 Well, the Wairu translation wasn't great and half of the new S patch consists of the Wairu translation, edited.

True enough, but do you think even if Wairu's TL was better, it would have saved this one? Personally I just can't see it happening. No matter how one looks at it, many people went in expecting more over-the-top chuuni-esque events, and instead got a Nukige. <_<  (with exception to Tsubame - who I couldn't bring myself to like - even if my life depended on it, lol.).

Well, I can't say we didn't try to warn them. In the translation thread and most other places that discuss the game, it's heavily warned that it contains a lot of sexual content and most of the routes has no meaningful story content.

 

Heh, fair enough. It's probably one of those "unwilling to believe until it is seen" things, for people that enjoyed the 1st. Though I'm actually in the other boat - those that chose to remain ignorant (stay out of threads), for fear of spoilers. Though I only have myself to blame for sticking my head in the sand. :P

 

Still, wasn't all bad, I did get some laughs out of it~
