Let's look at the current layout: Fuwanovel Discussion ↳ Fan Translation Discussion Visual Novel Discussion ↳ Visual Novel Talk ↳ Anime/Manga/Game/Other Talk ↳ Introduce Yourself Volunteers Discussion ↳ Volunteer Talk Site Related ↳ Game Technical Issues & Feedback So yeah... there are a couple of problems here. Most noticeable is how the anime, manga, videogame and other media discussions are all in the same subforum, which can be quite confusing. Not to mention that both that subforum and the one for introductions are in the section labeled Visual Novel Discussion. Technical help for VNs and site feedback being grouped together could be confusing as well, though I haven't visited that subforum too much so I dunno how it is. And some sections are really unnecessary - you could probably move the tech problems/feedback subforum to Fuwanovel Discussion and- Well, you know what, I'll just show what I had in mind. Fuwanovel Discussion ↳ Fuwanovel News (for topics such as this, this or this) ↳ Site Questions/Feedback ↳ Volunteer Talk ↳ Introduce Yourself (though this really could be just a topic in some other subforum) Visual Novel Discussion (they're still important enough to get their own section, I think) ↳ Visual Novel General (general VN discussion) ↳ Fan Translation News (topics like this or this) ↳ Technical Issues (topics like this or this) Hobbie Discussion (or some other name that's less dumb) ↳ Anime/Manga (these two can be grouped together just fine, I think) ↳ Videogames ↳ Other (dunno what exactly would go here, maybe the Japanese-learning topics and art threads such as Beato's) Ah yes, that's much better. Guest Posted February 3, 2013 Share Posted February 3, 2013 the thing with more sections is they increase the number of clicks before people can find each other. for a low population board like this one, it's more important for ppl to find each other, the category system doesnt have to work out in my brain, ive made it the bare minimal in order to give users some ability to choose between topics they want to talk about, but it mustnt intrude on the more important objective, which is to bring people together in as few clicks as possible. for example the neogaf board has only 3 sections http://www.neogaf.com/forum/ and yet it's one of the largest gaming forums in the english world.
