I don't hate anything in VNs but it's annoying when a character descibes the taste of a dish passionately or in great detail.
Apart from what the others said about H-scenes, I don't like invisible penises and the fact that every heroine has to give blowjobs.

EVNs are visual novels originally released in English. JVNs are originally released in Japanese.

The same thing happens in very ecchi or borderline hentai anime shows but I can't recall any of them being banned anywhere.

I think you are mixing up CLANNAD and Little Busters. The former has never had any H-content and the latter has a Japanese-only release called Ecstasy which adds other routes and dispensable, mediocre H-scenes. The English edition of Little Busters on Steam is like Ecstasy but without H-scenes.

You can also search for VNs with the Student-Teacher Romance tag.

I've only read The Fruit of Grisaia out of the list. It's my favorite and it has a long, funny common route. You might get bored of it if the humor doesn't stick with you. One of the heroines speaks in slang/vulgar speech too.
All of the VNs in the list are at either 1024x576 or 1280x720 resoultion.
