I think too much endearment is bad. There's this thing called "trust" after all, and if you don't have any of that in romance, then you should grow like an old hag for the rest of your life, alone.

Like I would want my boyfriend to give me some space all the time, not cuddle me like a pillow all the time. It's OK to feel jealous but getting jealous at stupid things like your significant other merely talking to others of the opposite sex and nothing else, then it's almost like you shackled yourself and them with your pathetic jealousy.

I second that. In real life that would be annoying, although cuz this is a fictional story I don't break my head worrying too much about these little things unless it makes the story worse. Like I can imagine having to deal with a real life tsundere, I don't know about others but I wouldn't be quite fond of dealing every single day with their complicated mood swings.

    "manggamer"  "mang"  lol

That's a little unfair.  They definitely focus on 18+ content and nukige a lot more than they do all-ages, but they have some all-ages VNs on their store.  There would be more, but because got a few of them rated by the ESRB they cannot be displayed with any 18+ content on the same page, and MangaGamer's Weekly Ranking sidebar made that impossible.  They chose to remove the all-ages ESRB copies from their site instead of getting rid of or majorly altering their Weekly Ranking sidebar.

They just won't sell Root Double on MangaGamer's site because there is literally no reason to.  If there was, then they would have already struck a deal with them.  Steam is a better place to sell it anyway, it'll get more exposure and advertising via the New Releases section and user queues.  There's a reason MangaGamer puts their all-ages VNs on Steam.

I knew something was fishy when I wrote that. Now I know why I felt like I misspelled something. :nervous: By the way I kept reading again and again your post but I can't figure it out what exactly did I say that was considered unfair from my part.

  3. Blood Code was rated Posetiv, so translation must be good and I think translation was good myself:-)

Several games on Steam with absolutely awful translations are rated positively there. Such as Gaokao.

Well it doesn't help that some games with good translation on steam sucks. So for now untill something more worthy is released I guess we will just have to deal with it sadly. And no wonder some steam VN have such positive ratings it depends how sexually and how graphics are depicted and boom! Everyone seems to buy it while other more better VN are being ignored. Such a shame...

Several games on Steam with absolutely awful translations are rated positively there. Such as Gaokao.

Not even mentioning IMHHW, and the fact that almost every single Sakura game has a positive score.  People on Steam don't really seem to care about translation quality, or even having decent spelling and grammar in OELVNs, which is especially pathetic when it's poor.

    Hey I do care!

  4. Many factors plays out that decide for me what make a certain character interesting so here I'll mention my top 6

    1) A diverse personality (Basically characters separated from the common trend of following a very specific personality. Skipping the uninteresting boring stuff those who can share a variety of emotions like being somewhat unpredictable but still having something eye checking about their personality.)

    2) An intrigue character story.

    3) An unique trait (Something that makes them different than for example your everyday tsundere.)

    4) A good choice of clothes + good character design + unique artstyle or good one (In other words aspect)

    5) Good amount of expression to make it feel more alive than rather just looking lifeless

6)Energetic/Shy/Quiet/Deredere girl (Sorry but moi have a thing for those kind of girl.)

  5. Alright I decided I will contribute to this idea of delivering to other people when there is good sales of VN. I will maintain check the good steam sales and report it here. Also I might post other sites deals if I remember but mostly steam sales.

  6. better than most OELVNs :v

OELVN? not familiar with that term

Its decent but somehow i really love it(first game that i bought from steam), and yeah some voice are terrible but i will say Mu xin's voice is very cute though and it really suit her. She is one of my fav.

and some tips, dont do all endings just get the best endings.

How can i know which are the best without using a WT though? xD, had no clue that it was voiced and badly at that but if you guys think it's decent i might give it a shot to check it out ^^

Well the concept was intriguing but the execution left a little to be desired. I mean the 50+ endings would leave a lot of replayabilitiy but is the way the thing was manage that I don't quite buying. Many endings you have to follow a very specific path to get them so your best option is to follow a guide. The point manage system was good but I dislike the part where you start losing randomly points at one point. But like I said the concept of the story was decent. I mean this game while it looks cute and happy is not. It shows you how harsh is reality and how is not always easy to follow your dreams although of course there is too the path of succes as what if? Perosnally I would have like if they went with an even more grim absolutely more dark setting it would have been interesting to see (suicide, murder). The game suffer from some stuff translated poorly or scenes that sounds weird. Voices are love or hate in my opinion. If I recall right OELVN stands for "original english visual novel".

  7. No source, and it sounds way too high of a %.

If it is true, It would be easy to see why someone would set the project out of the USA. Similar situation is how people set up their business in Hong Kong so they don't have to pay the high tax rate to the Aussie government.

I couldn't find the source, I just know is a computer site. I mean I hope is fake it sounds stupid but I wouldn't be surprised if it is true...

  8. Do you have a source? I am looking but cant find anything about the gov't taking a 25% cut.

The thing is they will add taxes for kickstarter users I think it will depend from which country the kickstarter is from. I couldn't find the news but it is from a computer site although if this is true it should become obvious when people start complaining and talk about it soon.

  9. Alright new upcoming rules is that the government will take 25% fee for projects funded in places like kickstarter while kickstarter takes like 10% fee which that means project will only receive a 65% of funding if the project is funded. Conclusion this is a bad joke!! Cmon what the hell? Those dirty greedy capitalist XD!!! They had of course came up with a policy to capitalize with all the money that goes around in kickstarter. Those greedy tricky parasites! I see what they did there.:Kappa:

  10. Let me see, you are looking for short games in the style of visual novels? Very well, I have some excellent recommendations, however, some of these may contain gameplay, I sincerely hope you do not mind.

    https://vndb.org/v15749

    https://vndb.org/v16471

    https://vndb.org/v17271

    https://vndb.org/v18202

I would suggest these wholeheartedly. I hope you would dare give them a chance.

Dude TC is the creator of all those visual novels. :Kappa:

  11. This doesn't look good...

    Root Double 120k 30% TL/ED 60% Licensing/Porting 10% KS

    vs

    Libra 160k 50% TL/ED 20% Development(?) 20% Rewards 10% KS

    • Root Double is a 50 hours game, TL+ED will cost them 36k$ and it will be done by Lemnisca, they did good TLs previously, or so community say. [85 EGS]
    • For the whole TLC/Re-TL/QC Muv-Luv wanted 57,5k$. It was supossed to be done by Ixrec/Alternative Projects and some other "experts"  The length of ML/MLA is approx 80 hours [90 EGS]
    • Libra on the other side will need 80k$ for translation, length of the game is approx 20 hours, forgive me if I'm wrong, saw only 2 reviews on EGS listing 12h and 15h. Translation is done by people inside. [70 EGS]

    TL;DR

    •  Root Double - 50 hours - 36,000$ - 85 EGS Rating
    •  ML/MLA - 80 hours - 57,500$ - 90 EGS Rating
    •  Libra - 20 hours - 80,000$ - 70 EGS Rating(Low amount of votes tho, might be not too accurate)

Would also add Clannad/Grisaia etc. but I don't see a point... I still would like to play Libra and give it a chance, maybe if it'll be on sale on Steam for 20-25$ I'll consider buying it. Good Luck with the Kickstarter.

Yowza! 20 hours?!?! Erogamespace is mistaken! Libra gameplay, the FULL uncut version, is 60 hours. The Steam version will be 15% shorter than that with the H-scenes removed. We have stated that that version will be around 50 hours. Also, could you please pass us a link where you saw this incorrect information on EGS or elsewhere. Thanks.

UPDATE: We looked at EGS and found what we believe you were referencing for gameplay time. This just means that 2 people played the game for 11-15 hours. Maybe a player chose only one path and sped through the game like crazy, or another played Libra for 11-15 hours, quit, then decided to write a review. In any case, the full game is 60 hours. I suppose we could account for players with superhuman abilities. ;-)

    Good News Everyone!

Pending approval of Kickstarter, we plan to launch the "Libra of the Vampire Princess" campaign on December 10, 2015.

You mentioned that you've managed to cut costs a bit.  What's the new initial funding goal?

We'll be making the new, reduced (sodium) budget public next Thursday when we launch. ;-)

Wait a second! 10 hours were cut due h-scenes?:o I'm not an expert regarding adult version of these games but that sounds a lot! I thought most h-scenes could be read in a couple of minutes so this strikes me as odd surprising news...

  12. Just finished Ryou/Kyou's Route. It was more than correct...But,seriously, the drama part was SO long...and a good character like Kyou deserves a crazier route/ending :makina:

Unfortunately, Kyou suffers from "best girl and worst route" syndrome. It's even more common (and arguably even more frustrating) than "best girl and no route" syndrome.

Regarding typos: I don't have data, but my gut feel says Sekai Project is even worse than the other major English publishers about them... I haven't hit the particular problem in Yukine's route mentioned above, but I stopped counting at about half a dozen when I was maybe two hours into the common route my first time through. If I'd been tallying them up, I expect I would be above 30 typos already (mostly grammatical mistakes, especially missing short words, but even a few very rare spelling errors that somehow got past a spellchecker), and I've only finished 4 routes so far. As much as people like to knock Ixrec's work, all the Amaterasu translations I've played so far (Sekien no Inganock, Comyu, and Rewrite) are just way, way higher quality on this front than anything officially released that I've ever read. While I fully understand that proofreading / copy editing is the last, least part of a translation project, I nonetheless wish these guys would find a way to do a better job of it, because it pulls me out of the immersion every damn time.

Would you recommend the fan TL over the Sekai one or should I get Sekai's version?

I would definitely recommend the Sekai one over the fan TL. The fan TL was really bad, the further you got the worse it would get, not to mention various very annoying glitches that popped up as well.

On that note, I really hope Sekai project introduces a patch to fix the current text errors. I'd like to read an English version of Clannad that isn't full of text errors.

OK. Thanks for that. I didn't want to buy Clannad only to figure out the fan TL is better.

The guy is saying the opposite that the bad translation is worse not better and the new one has some text errors.

  13. Oh I know it's early. It just got updated to around 3000 owners, so if excluse the KS backers, it's around 1500. I expect maybe 4000 copies sold. Which isn't bad for a 11 year old gaming selling at such a high price.

The argument that the physical copy sold for 80$~ isn't valid.  The reason it sold for that or higher is limited availability, before Clannad had digital distribution.  It's no longer "limited". It's why so many older VNs are expensive. I hate people defending the 50$ price tag. Even when the game originally released, it was half that, but because of a limited run, it became rare and price shot up. 11 years later with the original art assets and a QC'ed fan translation  = 50$? People can't accept that, you see. Look at Black Mesa. 20$  - A nearly full remake of HL1, excluding Xen, which will come maybe sometime before 2030. But the price is 20$, for a full on remake of a 15 hour game.  I know Clannad had 80 hours of story or so, but the problem people have is this is a 11 year old game with minor tweaks, selling for double it's original price, even adjusting for inflation.

To me, they should've done a 14.99 Voiceless version and a 24.99 Voiced version.  They want VNs to break into the West, right? But the problem is, no matter how many times you state "Clannad has 80+ hours of story", VS some 8-10 hour 60$ FPS, it doesn't change the fact that those FPS usually have MP and you can have dozens of hours of fun in that too.  It's also recent, so the price usually makes sense.

I mean just look at the other games available right now, for 50/42$ or cheaper. If you're not familiar with VNs, you look at it and go "Huh, 50$ for a book?"  Because I can go go get a 30-40 hour novel for 9-12$.

I did some math and count approximately how much money they made after just selling 3000 copies and that would be around 1260000 $ more or less.

  14. Hi all !

I'm Lasulf, 23 years old, VN addict (Eroge especially). I joined Fuwanovel to discover more VN, and share my views about them.

I like Yandere/Yangire girls, Mangas (Claymore, Umineko when they cry, Elfen Lied...), and Anime (School days, Serial Experiments Lain...).

My favorite VN is Katawa Shoujo.

    See you later!

I think from now on we should beware of sparkling eyes hiding around the corner and girls holding a pair of scissors... So scary... :(

  15. So I have no experience playing games like ... well, like this. I just found out about this game the other day and thought it looked highly disturbing. But after looking around it seemed a lot of people were very excited about the English release, and I just have to ask...

Is this a good game with a lot of .. Ahem, messed up stuff on the side, or is it 99% just messed up torture ... things and no story?

I´m a fan of things like SAW, ( not that its a VN) which has a lot of gruesome things in it, but where the story is brilliant. And I´ve gotten used to the fact that VNs often come with slightly disturbing stuff in their H-Scenes depending on what kind of game you play but ..

Is this something you would recommend for people who kind of need a good story or at least an interesting / good setting?

Kinda felt like asking cuz there aren't that many translated VNs that people seem uber excited about so it kinda made me curious.

I wouldn't say is just slighty disturbing parts in this game. I really would recommend you read the description of the game in the vndb to get an idea of what the game is about.

Uh yeah badly worded on my part. "Thought it looked highly disturbing" = Went over to VNDB and read about it + looked at some CG.

But it seemed a lot of people were hyped for the release and spoke about it as if it was really good, and that peaked my interest. Hence the thread. I didn't want to google too much about it, as it seems like a mystery ish kind of thing, and if those are spoiled its kind of boring going through the story.

Doing the demo atm, and it seems I might buy this. The mystery element and chilling vibe it gives off seems interesting. The ... Disturbing CG and messed up stuff I can tolerate. .. (maybe... we´ll see xD)

You got my blessing my son!! Solve the mystery we count with ya!:D In a more serious note I'm intrigued who or how many bastards are the guys behind this horrible excuse of a game. I have feeling the game this students are playing has something to do with somekind of experiment probably by a secret association or the government. I mean you must have a lot of money to setup an event so big like this ya know what I'm saying?

  17. I think you are fooled by the high position on the best seller list. CS:GO, GTA 5 are both games which was released years ago. I don't think they sell that many each day. One thousand copies of Clannad or more was sold yesterday. Possibly more. But I would't jump on the spot at the moment. The good thing is probably that we used Kickstarter here. They don't lose anything. Let's say they sold 1500 copies yesterday. That's 60k Euro gross profit. I don't think they made that huge of a success yesterday. But well here in Sweden we got payday tomorrow on the 25th. Perhaps we could see more next weekend if the game is still remembered by the Steam community.

But nonetheless it is good to see the game on Steam. I am also waiting for my physical edition.

Top sellers mean the game there are selling more than what most games on steam are selling right now. That means games like gta and black ops are selling more copies than new games for now. So I wouldn't say even though they came a long time ago they are not selling well. If Clannad reached almost the top in best sellers I wouldn't say the amount of copies they are currently now selling are just a few.

  18. Im sorry SP but mangagamer releases euphoria in 4 days and I just couldnt bear to see myself not preordering that one and some japanese doujin VNs.

(also grisaia made me wanna stay away from everything that resembles the school setting for a long long time)

Made me look up this game... The summary had me rather ... Uhh, weirded out. Looked up some CG.

    Cant... unsee...

The theme of Euphoria is teenagers + teacher trapped in a insane underground eperimental facility or something and they have to survive lots of sexual grotesque games unless they want to get electrocuted by a device installed by their neck. :(
