What Nakuya said, mostly; I'll add that Kira Kira goes genre shift mode after the long common route (similar to Deardrops), focusing on character drama (as TakaJun says in his review, likely a case of the writer of Swan Song and producer bamboo wrestling for control here). I personally rated Deardrops .2 points higher than Kira Kira if I remember correctly, but Kirari's normal end is a major standout (and Chie's end refreshing somehow). Definitely recommended.

Honestly, at this point it might be better to first recover the savefiles of each vn, then get a new copy / installation for them. If you've already done that, idk how much the troubleshooting guides cover so try running things in various compatibility modes (for example, symphonic rain installer required win95 or 98 compat for me, true story).

I managed to complete catastrophe insane today. I still suck at streams, but since I can do everythign else pretty well... I also did that sankarea thingy (apparently named esoragoto), which actually wasn't that hard when I got into it.

I will throw in my now-obligatory recommendation for LEAVEs, which has awesome at least in certain wtf moments. Oh, and World End Economica. Though since that's officially localized you may find trouble acquirign the liek 10 bucks needed for a copy. Apparently Kawa-Soft did some fixing of the script (darkpheonix said 10% something of the text touched), so their version migth be the best. Be ready for some awkward english, though.

I'll recommend Ever17 and LEAVEs. Ever17 is a multiple route mystery awesomeness while LEAVEs is an underrated doujin vn with quite a few wtf twists and somewhat unusual storyline.
