MiraiTranslations - Shinobi Ryuu project
orochinagi replied to orochinagi's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
A bit of a necro but I feel it's better than making a new thread... Anyway, for what really matters now: Revamped initial post to have information in a more structured way; Project hasn't died (in case some people were thinking that we abandoned it); Project has been stalled due to "translator curse"; Translator is back with us but overloaded with work; We're looking for translators; Gonna try to make periodic updates here even if it's just about our struggle to keep going >_> -

Walkure Romanze Translation Project ( Help needed >.<)
orochinagi replied to derpigreg's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
When you say you need help maintaining the site, what exactly do you mean? As far as I've checked, it's hosted on WordPress so i'm guessing that the help you need is to update news, layouts and such. If that is the case I can't help much (i'm not that good with site design, i'm more of a tech/infrastructure guy)... If you need a designer/news updater/etc... don't think I can be of much help. If your needs are a bit more technical, poke me so we can discuss what you need and to see if i can fit that into my ongoing stuff P.S: Anyway, best of luck for the project ressurection -

Was gonna say "the heroes may not win cause they may plan for a sequel" but seems like it was already said :x Not a fan of Superhero movies but kinda curious about this one (why can't we get a proper spawn movie?!?!?!?!?!?) -

First of all, i'm quite curious regarding what you define as "gameplay". Strategy? RPG? Choices? Anyway, my take on gameplay is usually strategy/management/RPG. So i'll recommend according to that. As mentioned before: Kamidori is definitely a great experience if you value gameplay. Other than that i'd recommend looking into these publishers: Alicesoft: Daiakuji, Daibanchou/Big Bang Age, Daiteikoku (and a few others, even tho i'm not a fan of Rance series); Eushully: most titles have gameplay, check them out SofthouseChara: no full translations out yet, but there's some partial/interface ones (most titles have gameplay); P.S: impressive necro thread

As mbl said earlier, there are probably tools out there for the heavy lifting. When I picked up Shinobi Ryuu I did some research and tried out the Wizard Climber tools since the game engine looked the same. I then ran into some minor issues with repacking but the tool was open source and managed to do some minor changes so it would repack but "adapting" source code in languages you're not confortable with shouldn't be a big deal (even tho it may not be optimized) if you have a good CS/Programming mindset.

Thanks. And you (and all others) can feel free to provide feedback regarding anything I (or any other team member) post here. We'll gladly accept the constructive feedback and improvement suggestions We're not exactly experienced in game translation and we're trying to do our best. So "end-user" feedback and suggestions from more experienced translators is always helpful -

Unfortunatelly not one that makes us happy with outcome On that screen we're basically working with 2 image sets. 1 is the background in which we can manipulate (and even place the text on the left instead of the right side) and the others are the button sprites (image with all 3 button states): -

That's where the working area come into play. The buttons themselves have smaller width than height. If we place the text horizontally the font would be either too small or the text would be hard to read. -

On those projects i'll only speak regarding BG0 since it's the one I was playing. Ushoran was translating the story itself and it looks manual translation (even has some translation notes in the text). The interface like item descriptions and such is clearly machine translated. I've also been away for over one month but last I heard Ushoran was on vacations and was having limited time to translate the game so he stopped after translating the 3rd chapter. He was supposed to keep going tho but I haven't really been following that. Regarding the screenshots, i'll supply some in a minute (i'll edit this post). EDIT: Samples from chapter 3:
