  1. So, basically: Eien no Aselia Utawaremuno Kamidori Sengoku Rance Were the most mentioned... Thanks, guys.
  2. I'm actually using a Mac, using an app that lets me run the files. it has worked just fine with other novels (Forest, Katawa Shoujo, and well... non-full screen G-Senjou no Maou) so it just seems weird to me that it wouldn't work in these two. And yes, the Ever 17 file runs, it just crashes after the initial cutscene Also, Ever 17 only prompted the code when I tried to install it, which then I found out was completely unnecessary.
  3. Incidentally, is there any reason why 999 isn't on Fuwanovel? I can't find the torrent... And yeah, PW and FE are amazing. FE is probably my favorite video game series...
  4. So, I downloaded both VNs, and when I started them, both seemed to be fine, so I left them in my laptop for a little while. When I tried to launch them, both seemed fine... but when I had G-Senjou no Maou view switched to full-screen, the game crashed. It hasn't opened again since. Ever 17 doesn't seem to get to the start screen, it just plays the initial cutscene (although I already had a problem with this one with its installation process, it had asked me for a premium code or something). I have tried re-installing them several times, and have my unicode set to japanese.
  5. I was going to read Ever 17 and G-Senjou no Maou, but for some reason I can launch the files, but they crash soon after that. Anyway, given that now i can't read those, I'm looking for other VNs to read. I don't want to get too emotional, but want a generally dark atmosphere. I wanna feel the thrill of a driving question looking to be answered, conflicts developing over three-dimensional characters, theme-heavy storyline... stuff like that. I'd also like it to have some degree of gameplay (although that's not strictly necessary), preferably strategy-based. I want one of those that grips you from the beginning, you know? I'm new to VNs, so I can't tell any examples i like yet. So... um... If I`m being clear enough (please ask me to elaborate further if not), what do you suggest?
  6. Phoenix Wright is awesome, it's one of the more interactive novels to, and it has an awesome localization to boot. The writing is awesome. You should definitely check it out (just remember to at least take the third case). There are, as of this writing, one main trilogy, a sort of remake of the first game with a different PoV, a sorta spin-off sequel with another protagonist and yet another sequel with the titular character, so you have a lot to choose from.
  7. Don't be so easy on him. He's the most useless character in all of the anime I've ever watched (even is that's not very much). All he does is complain and be scared and be saved by his obsessive pseudo girlfriend. Mirai Nikki is full of bland characters, but Yuki takes the cake as being a passive protagonist who is only alive because he has a diary predicting him the future of everything and another one telling everything about him every ten minutes and an overpowered sidekick to boot. I dunno who thought that protagonist would be compelling. I'm not joking when I say that one of the reasons that I quit Mirai Nikki is how incredibly stupid Yukiteru is.
  8. Around here, there are a couple of conventions each year (I think they each come twice each year, so it's like four). There are also TCGs tables and a very popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament. It's nothing really big, though, and one of the two companies makes a really small convention anyway. They don't even bring manga!
  9. And all this trouble just because some lawsuits can't license the anime for streaming. I really do wonder many times what happens at the higher ups on the market and all...
  10. I had watched some episodes of Mirai Nikki, but i couldn't get into it. I tried a bit more (ep 10 or something) but I just can't get to care about Yukiteru. Or any other character, for that matter, they all seem pretty damn flat. I think I'll be trying Eden of the East, Fate/Zero and Steins;Gate like suggested, and probably Anohana for now.
  11. Like, "hey, we totally want you to pay for this, but we won't make it available for you in this globalized market". Then complain about piracy.
  12. You should try downloading "Hola" or changing the DNS of whatever device you're using. I'm from Mexico, and I made a deal with a friend of mine to exchange Netflix and Crunchyroll, but Mexican selection is rather poor compared to the U.S., so he found out that changing your DNS gives you access to better streaming selection. Anyway, the whole geolocalization thing in the WOLRD WIDE web is pretty stupid. I know it's lawsuit and licenses and whatnot, but it's still stupid. Pretty much this. I always see if I have whatever I want to watch on Hulu, Netflix or Crunchyroll. I don't mind paying a fee for their services, after all, it is their work. However, here where I'm from, if it's not in a streaming service, you're pretty much screwed to watch it legally. As far as i know, there are literally 0 stores for anime and manga, but i think it's popular enough to warrant it. Seriously, if they want me to watch something legally, they should make it available for me. If I have no other alternative, I do go for piracy, after all, it's pretty much the same to them. And that's without mentioning that we get censored or otherwise edited versions, which sucks too.
  13. Currently reading Pandora Hearts (stupid anime left the story when it was starting to branch) and Shingeki no kojin (seriously, I do not want to wait until 2016 when they release the second season). I personally don't like reading manga, because the lack of voice and music and color puts me off, so I prefer anime... But I had to do an exception with these two.
  14. I agree, a sub forum for recommendations would be really nice.
  15. Fire Emblem Awakening is amazing. You should try out Ike's canon next (it's Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn). I'm currently playing Heavy Rain, but since I've got it sandwiched with two VNs, an anime series, a ton of exercise, two mangas, and two books, I'm going reaaaaally slow. As with everything else, I guess.
  16. I'm not sure if i like romance. I've never tried an anime romance, but I'm generally put off by all romances (but in western and japanese works). It just seems off to me that they just hook up whoever happens to be closest to the protagonist of the opposite sex and call it a day (even if it's something as ridiculous as childhood friends) and they rarely add something to the overall plot. I tried watching Ef, but i thought SHAFT's style was too untraditional for such a small story, and overall there wasn't much conflict. I might just try Golden Time after I finish... whatever is that I'm going to try next (thinking of Monster). I've heard many scary stories about its first 9 minutes I've watched Code Geass, and although the last handful of episode were amazing, I felt no special likeness to the rest of it. It's worth watching, but I don't think that it's something filled with awesome. I also watched the first episodes second season of Gunslinger Girls (accidentally, I thought it was the first season), but and overall bad animation, subpar plot and subpar characterization of the girls and their relationships of their fratellos put me off it. I might still try the first season, though. I might just watch Wolf's Rain or Phantom, thanks!
  17. I'm currently stuck on what to watch, dunno why. I finished Clannad (the first season, didn't watch AS), and I want something thrilling to contrast it. My top anime are probably Attack on Titan, Pandora Hearts and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I've also liked very much Madoka Magica and Danganropa... stuff like that. They're all character-heavy (well, perhaps AoT not so much, but it is definitely going that way), all have emotive scenes (except Danganropa, but it was so thrilling that I didn't even notice), all have a tight plot... stuff like that. I was thinking of a seinen or something. I was thinking of Elfen Lied but I still don`t know how much gore i can digest. I really don't want shonens like Sword Art Online or something like that, I want to feel motivated to watch some other stuff after a bad streak of both video games and anime. Any suggestions?
  18. I watched Evangelion, but it bored me to no end. I only found episodes from, like, 17 to 23 entertaining. But besides that... um... I really have only watched anime from 2000 onwards, so I can't say.
  19. I try to keep it as legit as possible. I have this deal with a friend where he gives me Crunchyroll and he gives me Netflix, and I'm working around to getting free account of Hulu despite not living in the U.S. However, it really can't be helped when the material just doesn't reach us, and since I hate seeing anything in general in my computer, I download the torrent and put the files on a USB so I can watch on a Blu ray or something.
  20. So, hi, I guess. I'm Alfredo, and I'm some dude in Mexico, 19 years old. I'm currently introducing myself to anime (been doing that since like 8 months... but i still feel a rookie), and I like mostly theme-heavy and character centric narratives or chiefly emotive stories (My favorites thus far have been Attack on Titan and Pandora Hearts, so much that I'm reading the manga now and i hate reading manga). Other animes I've liked are Danganropa, Puela Magi Madoka Magica (as you could guess by my picture...) BTOOOM, Clannad (enough to finally jump to VNs)... you get the picture. Characterization and stuff. I haven't finished any VN yet, but I'm currently starting with Katawa Shoujo and the Phoenix Wright trilogy. Hoping to play Clannad as soon as I fix the issue I'm having with it, and Forest, Every 17 and both Danganropa games are on my list. So, that's a bit 'bout how I got here. So, hello.
  21. I am running Clannad through RLVM, and it starts the VN without a problem. Right before Tomoya encounters Nagisa, though, the game just freezes for no reason (when Tomoya is looking at the sky). There is supposed to be this patch that fixes the issue, but I already downloaded it to no effect. i am thinking that perhaps I copied the files on the patch over to the Clannad folder wrongly, does that mean that I have to download the torrent all over again? (The patch works with the G00 files, and there are quite many of them). Thanks in advance. Also, info Are you running your computer with Japan system locale?: Yep Game Name: Clannad Description of Problem: The VN freezes right before Tomoya meets Nagisa, after he comments about how far the school gate is. What did you already try? Trying system locale to Japan, downloading a patch. Did you download your game from Fuwanovel?: Yep
  22. At the moment, I cannot run Clannad. I can run Ever 17, but it prompts me for a special edition disc when I try to install it.
  23. I own a Mac, so I had to download this app called Wineskin Winery to wrap the .exe files in a way that my laptop can run them (not sure if anyone else here is doing the same thing). I had no issue installing Katawa Shoujo. I can run 17 eyes and Swan Song, but they do not install on my computer. I do not even know if my progress will save. I cannot even open Clannad. I am theorizing that this is because Katawa Shoujo required installation, while the other VNs have no instal.exe file that I can use for this. I was wondering if it is possible to download the torrent with such file, or if it is possible downloading a file compatible for Mac altogether. Thanks in advance.
