  1. Not necessarily. Otome games are games with female protagonists that focus mostly on romance between her and the guys around her. They are aimed at a female audience, though other people (like me) sometimes play them as well. But there are some games with female protagonists that are aimed at a male audience as well. They tend to either not focus too heavily on romance or... be even more sexist. I've seen a lot of Nukige in this area, but they aren't all. Basically, if it has a female protagonist and is targeted toward women, it's an otome game. If it's not targeted at women, it's not.
  2. You should try Sweet Fuse, which has a strong-willed heroine who uses her wit and temper to hold her own alongside all the guys.
  3. I think that it had a couple good routes. There are really only three endings out of like... 12-13-ish(?) that end in death, but they really come out of nowhere, which is why they're so infamous. A lot of the characters make bad decisions, but they're kids so I kind of feel like that's to be expected? Idk. I just don't think it was quite as bad as people make it out to be. The only thing that really annoyed me was how the H-scenes just used like the same three clips over and over for the whole duration of a scene.
  4. No matter how much they've been overused and how predictable they tend to be, my weakness is always the tsundere love interests. I always end up loving them. Understand and respect why some people are sick of them though.
  5. The EX routes aren't even unlocked until you play through the whole game, IIRC (and please correct me if I got it wrong), so I'd say just play it and someday, when EX is fully translated, come back to it. Little Busters is good enough to play a second time imo.
  6. I'm also interested in joining, if it isn't too late to.
  7. I feel like so long as one is capable of drawing the line between fiction and what is acceptable in reality, there shouldn't be any effects on someone who views and enjoys this kind of dark sexual content regularly that would be noticeable in real life. While sexual violence is definitely not my fetish, I don't mind it and can as long as I know it's coming. If it catches me off-guard, I have a full-blown panic attack. Bottom line though: I don't think there's any problem with the content being available to adults who want to view it.
  8. Yeah, as long as you've got some help from a text hook and machine translator like VNR or something similar.
  9. Favorite VN...? That's hard to say. I've played a lot and liked a lot. Maybe if I sat down for several hours, I could pin-point on or two favorites. I do have favorite developers though! I really like KEY, Type-MOON, and Nitro+ @Zakamutt: Sayaka did some things wrong, but I love her more for having realistically human flaws. @Flutterz That is one cute wolf chibi.
  10. Currently playing: Agarest: Generations of War Dot Kareshi I and doing a replay of Togainu no Chi at the request of my girlfriend. This is only what I'm playing now though. My backlog is immense .__.
  11. Unless you're getting machine-translation help, you should learn the Kanji before trying to tackle an untranslated VN. But there are so many methods of translating the text from inside the visual novel now that it's really only necessary to have a handle on the basics of the language and a good grip on sentence structure.
  12. I think I made this account maybe a year ago, but for some reason I never posted anything or used it or read anything in the forums at all. I didn't even realize until I tried to sign up again. Um, anyway, nice to meet you all I think. You can call me Sean, or just hey you or whatever. Sorry if I bother anybody.
