  1. Dayum. I only finished Act 1. I really need to step up the pace...
  2. I'm still not finished with this one. I need to know this so I know if I'm pacing myself all right or need to pick it up some: how many Acts are in this VN?
  3. Unfortunately, I suck at the minigame segments too hard and had to turn them off in order to progress. I wish I didn't have to because I also want to see the pieces of the story told in there, but there's not much I can do about it. Even when I know the locations of all the voices, I still have trouble getting around to them all before getting a game over. ;__;
  4. When it comes to "do you read the vn or watch the anime first?", I think you should watch the anime first. Simply because after reading the VN, the anime usually comes off as disappointing. But if you watch the anime first, you can appreciate it on it's own instead of as an adaption of the VN.
  5. Ef - a fairy tale of the two. Specifically Chihiro and how her arc ended really made an impact on my life as someone living with a permanent disability.
  6. I definitely wanna participate in this! Too bad Rewrite's not in there. It's actually my favorite.
  7. Hmm... Well, it's not much but...
  8. Most summaries of Cross Channel include that spoiler though, and it's revealed fairly early in the game, so it's not that huge of a spoiler.
  9. If you want something really happy and go-lucky, I recommend Shuffle! There are no bad endings and the game has a funny and happy common route before getting into the drama of the chosen girl's individual route without getting overly dark.
  10. My girlfriend and I play BL games together and once my dad walked in and looked over my shoulder during a really weird part of Enzai. He just said "Is that...?" and I told him exactly what it was and now he never asks what I'm doing anymore. It was more awkward and embarrassing for him than it was for me, to be honest.
  11. This is one of the many games in my backlog, so it's good to have an excuse to read it now.
  12. Most of the VNs I've played have made me cry at one point or another. I'm a very emotional person. Though I'm more likely to cry during something sweet and touching than something mildly sad.
  13. When are you going to announce the VN we're reading and what section will the post go in? Just so I know to look out for it.
  14. I've played School Days. Not "most of them" end badly. It has three infamously bloody bad endings and in the rest, Makoto ends up with one or more of the girls. There have been re-releases with extra bad endings, but the number of good endings still far outweighs them. But yeah. I liked the interactivity of School Days, if nothing else. I guess really, I like VNs that have more interactivity.
  15. Thanks. I have played Little Busters and I guess something like that is what I meant. I suppose "a lot" is relative. Fate/stay night is in my backlog, so I'll probably play that next. Thanks again.
  16. I'm the kind of person who likes to have a lot of variety. It is the spice of life, after all. Which is why I'm looking for a good visual novel that has a lot of choices that actually matter to the story and a lot of possible routes to choose from. As for other specifics, I would prefer translated, but if you vouch that it's really good, I might check it out even if it isn't. I'm not picky about genres, so any is fine there.
  17. Nakige isn't really meant to be sad. Just meant to provoke strong emotional response. Utsuge is the tag you're looking for if it's meant to be tragic or something. Period has it's emotional moments (probably more for me than others as I am a very emotional and easily moved person), but I wouldn't consider it anywhere near the level of a seriously dramatic VN like a work by Key or something.
  18. If you finished her ending, then you should have gotten the story. I'll put it under a spoiler tag for those who haven't read it.
  19. Yeah. It's a total spoiler, so you have to read her story for that.
  20. I think that as long as the H-content doesn't contain anything that's absolutely integral to the plot, then there's no problem with having an option to turn it off if you don't want to see it. It might even make more people play certain games. Obviously, this option is useless for something like the Nukige, which is 80% H-scenes, but for other eroge category VNs, it might be nice. I personally would like it because most H-scenes in VNs are very badly written, especially when it comes to knowledge about how vaginas work, which makes me a little mad to be honest. Anyway, having a toggle would be a good idea.
  21. If you liked Lucia in particular, most of the novels by Key have at least one heroine who is a tsundere like her. Especially see Kyou from Clannad, who I believe is also a class rep (though the protagonist isn't in her class, so it has little bearing on the story).
  22. If you haven't already played them, Saya no Uta and Tokyo Alice are shorter VNs that I found enjoyable. Though the former is pretty dark.
  23. Wow! Everybody looks really good. And I do mean that. Even though none of you know me yet, I guess I'll post my picture too.

    Nukige

I'm not personally a huge fan of Nukige games. I don't mind H-scenes and I don't even mind weird fetishes, but when the comprise most of the game with very little in terms of plot or character development, it just leaves me feeling like I gained nothing from the experience. Although maybe my thoughts on Nukige are darkly colored because my first one was Bible Black. I-I don't talk about that much... Though that one was at least interesting. Which is probably why I didn't chuck it.
  25. VNs seem to be getting more popular in the West, but most of them only appeal to an otaku audience. Someone who doesn't already have an interest in such things is unlikely to buy one. Adding that they aren't as readily available or as widely known about here, VN sales are far from good compared to how they are in Japan where you can buy these things in most video game stores. I think making more people aware that VNs exist and are an art form should be the first step to getting more people buying them and subsequently getting more localizations. But that's just what I think. I'm hardly an expert.
