Tried playing it under Japanese Locale? try using applocale from Microsoft to manually change the game's locale or set it to a system default under the Control Panel. Setting the system to Japanese locale is proven to cure those crashes and errors for the majority of players.

Dunno if Kino no Tabi can be included in this list. Also for this season, Outbreak Company seems very underrated even though its plot is very good.

I just normally download manga's into zip containers using Domdomsoft manga downloader then use SCViewer to read it offline in my tab. for Manwhas specially webtoons, I use Open Comic Reader.
