  1. There's a difference between a VN that's meant to not have any ero and one that is meant to. It's part of the experience.
  2. Indeed. And this is incredibly ironic. I have to wonder, though: is the censoring of h scenes and whatnot an example of intolerance? Also, I know I have been posting a lot of crap here, but this is seriously bugging me. :/
  3. EDIT: Nevermind, I'm just rambling. I'm being very undude right now. =/
  4. Are you fucking kidding me? This is NOT cool, man. Not cool at all. I am losing a lot of respect for these guys.
  5. I admit it, I like ero. So unless the game is really good, I probably won't buy it if it has been censored. If you have remove content from a game, it's better not to release it at all. Besides, there are plenty of great all ages games ou there, like Root Double, so why not go with that.
  6. They're incessant desire to appeal to a broader audience has made me decide not to buy this game. Appealing to everyone is the same thing as appealing to no one. Also, I'm starting to feel that the removal of ero almost the same thing as some radio station cutting The Rime of the Ancient Mariner to four or minutes to appeal to an audience who doesn't have the patience to listen to a thirteen minute song. And damn... Some people just want to fap in peace. orz But yeah, i don't like this. Going mainstream is a terrible idea.
  7. The localizers will simply have to make sure the ero is completely removed and no traces of it remain. Though to be fair, the fact that these guys submitted the game to the ESRB is starting to worry me...
  8. I rarely do that unless I haven't played the game for a long time, like Rewrite; haven't played it since summer break ended back in February, so I'm thinking of restarting it (common route's fucking hilarious too, so it might be worth it). I also did it with Ever17 for the same reason.
  9. Damn, I didn't think a game like this would have this much ero. And lots, too. Now, of course, this doesn't mean that the game is not focused on telling a good story, but now I can kind of understand what the hush is all about. From the perspective of an eroge fan, this really detracts from the experience. It's like when they decided to remove all the blood, gore, and nazi references from the SNES version of Wolfenstein 3D because Nintendo wouldn't sell any games with "adult" content (and let's not forget how all the dogs were replaced with... "mutant rats"); you can still play the game just fine (and fuck man, it's Wolf 3D, you can't go wrong with it), but something in the back of your head will keep telling you that something's missing, like pizza without tomato sauce. I still don't think I mind it too much. I've always considered ero to be a nice little bonus in games like these, one which I can live without. I have one question though: is it possible to say that this is censorship?
  10. Regarding choices, I generally make a different save file everytime one pops up, even when the "correct" choice is obvious... It's kinda become a habit for me, haha. For most VNs I read, I generally tend to leave my preferred heroine's route for last, unless there's a recommended order of sorts like Rewrite or Ever17. I just have a "leave the best for last" kind of mentality.
  11. Welcome, dude! I discovered anime back when I was an annoying little brat too, so I can relate! Clannad really is an amazing story, though I never managed to finish After Story after I was spoiled. >: We've got a bunch of folks learning Japanese 'round these parts too, myself included! Oh yeah, you remind me of a friend in college who's really interested in Polish and Eastern European culture, haha. I'm pretty sure you're getting Clannad confused with Kanon. lol

    Hey

Welcome to the forums, friend. We're all always welcoming newcomers to VNs here, so grab a rug and sit tight!
  13. こんにちは、皆!元気ですか? このトピックは、「あ、日本語でトピックはないな~」と思ったときに練習のために作ったぞ! ここは多くのメンバーは日本語を勉強してるですね?だから、話しましょう!話題は何でもいいです (lord, I hope I got this right)
  14. Okay, I'm currently giving the trial a shot. Just as I expected, the game's art is absolutely stunning. Some of the shots and backgrounds feel breathtaking, and it really gives a peaceful, serene sensation. Now, regarding writing: the English is below average. So far I haven't seen many lines that are downright wrong, but it's clear that the translator is an inexperienced writer, as there are many awkwardly worded phrases and sentences (the translator seems to have trouble mostly with adverbs). Lines don't seem to flow very well either, and the choice of words and expressions gives me the impression that this was made by an amateur fansubber. Simply put, it's not particularly comfortable to read, as there is no proper rhythm. However, I cannot deny the fact that I am interested in this game now. I'm still not sure if I'll buy this, though. I'd like to check the Japanese version, if only because I want to read this in its original form. I do recommend everyone here to give it a shot and make their own conclusions.
  15. To be honest, if I feel like I'm too bothered by the lack of ero, I'll just get the Japanese version.
  16. Huh, this surprised me just as much as everyone else. I just got home then BAM. I've heard great things about this game. The art direction seems fantastic, at least. And regarding their decision to remove the ero, I don't mind it either way so long as it doesn't hinder the story and the message the author was trying to convey. I do, however, question their motive; VNs aren't a very popular medium in the west to begin with, and saying that removing the ero will reach a wider audience makes me feel like the publishers aren't seeing the big picture. Many other factors contribute to this infamy (if you could even call it that), such as the fact that most gamers in the west feel a little put off by anime-styled designs due to the increasing number of games with gritty realism and excessive amounts of testosterone, or simply due to values dissonance. You could say that the western public can't enjoy VNs for the same reason that most kids in school these days can't enjoy classic literature: the difference in style, language, culture, and ideology is just far too great, and you cannot fully enjoy the work unless you immerse yourself in the social-cultural context behind its creation. Fuck, I'm rambling. I DO admit, though, that I enjoy ero, but hey, it's not something I'll miss. Last but not least, trying to please everyone yields the same results as pleasing no one. When you're playing a Doom map with lots of monsters and not enough ammo, you don't try to kill 'em all; you try to kill the ones the pose the most threat, and then proceed to the exit.
  17. ^ That is definetely very true, and Maidens of St. Michael has much less ero than the previous games, making it more like a moege than a nukige.
  18. You bet! I was surprised that I ended up liking her. But there's something about her that's just lovely. Her voice, too, is absolutely delicious to my ears; gives me the tingles.
  19. I just say they're like those old adventure games, except you only have to make choices, and most games are about fornicating with girls.
  20. Welcome to the forums, dude! Hope you have fun here. Go ahead, pick a lane.
