For other games with "super happy endings", there's Fureraba (overall the funniest VN I've ever read), Wagamama High Spec (has the most H content I've seen in a VN), and Kono Oozora (If my heart had wings).

"The funniest VN I've ever read" eh. Funnier than CLANNAD? That's incredibly tempting.

I played If My Heart Had Wings. I was equally impressed and horrified. Some of the translation was soooo baadddd and the dialogue during some of the sex scenes was sooo badddd, but...it was a beautiful and inspiring plot with enjoyable characters and a couple amazing sound tracks. Wheelchair girl route and twin route alone make that game hella worth it. Loved it, loved it!

  2. I'm not giving any criteria (But feel free to look at the VNs I've played via the VNDB link to the left). I just happened to have already downloaded these bad boys and I intend on playing them all eventually. I just want a little push of randomness to help me pick the next one!

Feel free to make a comment about why I should or should not pick a specific one or play them in a specific order - or don't. Doesn't matter.

  3. I feel like I just got super philosophical for what was essentially an advertisement for a cat girl maid cafe. I gotta say I'm a sucker for super happy endings.

Nekopara must be a "Moege", right? My first experience in the genre. There was one almost dramatic scene and that was it. That and lots of far better than average sex scenes. It was nice to see anatomy drawn in a way I enjoyed after cringing at Da Capo 2's bizarre bodies.

I suppose I have no complaints because I had no expectations. It was like skipping straight to the reward part of a nukige. It wasn't deep, but it was kinda refreshing in a similar way that the end of MLA was.

  4. Holy cow. Nekopara is Horrifying.

I feel like if I play enough of this series I will cease to view women as anything other than children, playthings, cute dolls to be dressed up and smile for me, worship me, and never have any needs or desires that conflict with my own, and always remain inferior to me intellectually, needing my fatherly control and guidance. They only exist to fill the role I bought them for, whether it be free labor, fun, or as a lover.

There's a lot of cultures in the world that see women in exactly this way, aren't there?

The final blow is when they dressed up in pastel-goth. Unf. Goodbye, reality. (For real though this is awesome)

If you want Nekogirls, just go play Nekopara already :makina:

Got Nekopara 1. 30 minutes in. Holy crap this is precious <3.

    Demihumans are the best.

Also whoa at the slave race boner.

Also also I don't see how human society could continue to function. What need would you have of normal human relationships when you could have these catgirls. This world fascinates me.

  6. I actually got bored of Da Capo 2 after doing about 5/7th of it. The whole time I was playing it I kept thinking about how much better Hoshimemo was. I think there were happy moments that made me smile in every route, but...

The grand overall story was lacking, I never cried, and worst of all the music was highly disappointing. I just finished Hoshimemo which feels like a game with almost the exact same scope so it's worth comparing; Hoshimemo had a more mysterious backstory that you couldn't as easily guess and had to piece together yourself, and there were a couple sound tracks that were absolute tear jerkers and goosebump inducing. Da Capo 2 just didn't have those things. Not to mention plot navigation in Da Capo quickly became painfully tedius.

Part of the problem, perhaps, was that the only character I really loved was robot girl.

Thank you for another useful list! I only just now realized that people have been posting "character pages". This explains my confusion from earlier in not seeing something saying there's an english translation below the description.

For the starter, you can try Da Capo for Nemu along with Da Capo 3 for Himeno. After that, you can try both of Ayakashibito (Suzu) and Hapymaher (Saki). For the last recommendation, I think you can try Princess Evangile as well although I can't tell how much the jealousy that the heroines have though. I hope my recommendations here would be helpful to you.

I was skipping Da Capo and going straight to Da Capo 2 because it seemed kinda old and slow. If I wanted to see the maximum Nemu jealousy, is it contained to one or two routes? Or is it evenly spread among the other heroine's routes?

If it's mostly in one route, I'd go play it just for that.

I'm getting the impression I should play everything by Key except for Kanon, which I should watch the anime for. Do you agree with this assessment? I've played various VNs after playing CLANNAD and Little Busters, and except for MLA, I haven't liked anything else as much. So I'm excited to try all the other Key games out. If anything, I feel like I'm putting them off so I don't waste them all at once xD. That's how excited I am about them.

(That makina emote makes me so happy)

  10. Anything else with a vibe similar to "Lucy: The Eternity She Wished For"? https://vndb.org/v16743 Playing some Da Capo 2

    Spoiler

and ran into another robot girl. I was sitting there hoping she would call me master, but she never did.

I then realized I was missing the ole robot servant girl from Lucy. Need more AI waifus or maybe a different kind of dedicated servant waifus. Either, both. Perhaps there are other subhumans servant creatures that give a similar vibe? (Catgirls?)

well, i said it is consensual, not not consensual. the scenario with cuckolding is a guy likes sharing his wife, the wife agrees and so does the other person sharing the wife. ntr is more messed up where a guy loves a girl and the girl may love the guy and she is being forced into having sex with someone she doesnt know.

i dont watch rape in hentai or like reading it in vns. roleplay is fine because it is just roleplay. people rape roleplay in real life as well.

I guess I was just being picky by pointing out that noone's consent is being violated in a story medium. But you're right, the way you described it, it definitely sounds like a different feeling between the consensual swinger stuff and the sincerely rapey story stuff.

I myself can enjoy rape fantasy in hentai if that's the point of it and I'm not supposed to feel sympathetic to the "victim" because it's just fap material ... but if it's a character I'm meant to be sympathetic with it's like nooooooo, traumatizing. I should probably avoid NTR.

Just played some Evenicle and :

    Spoiler

The main cast just left this "Kalar" elf girl to be gang raped, while she was begging to be saved. She wasn't human and they had more important things to do, pretty much. Justified it that she's probably not gonna die so it's ok. That pissed me the hell off. To quote someone from the game, "Maybe Eve (God) will forgive you, but I won't". It's like, why do I not have the option to attack the rapists. The game is amazing and thoughtful about this kinda stuff but there's a couple moments like that that really peeve me.

It's interesting to think how they've got these hard fast rules about what kind of murder and rape is not ok and it's magically enforced, but outside of those boundaries the world really doesn't give a shit. Part of the game mechanics is enslaving sentient girl monsters to use as tools, and they're even capable of intelligent speech and crying and stuff. I'm hoping this game pulls a Der Langrisser and lets me fix things from the top down. (I'm still early on I think, just got wife number 5).

Sorry went on an offtopic tangent. Thus, put it in a spoiler.

All 3 Da Capo main games doesn't have too much in common except for Sakura. Unlike, say, the rance series, playing the previous entries isn't a prerequisite and you can start with whatever entries you like (main series only).

However, I would strongly suggest (like chaosraven) that you skip the original Da Capo (unless you can read non-english VNs, then you may choose to read D.C.P.C which is superior to the only title, if only in one major way) as it's an extremely dated and relatively expensive VN.

The Mangagmer version sells for $30 USD. For this, you get an 9 years old VN which (obviously) has a dated engine. The story also tends to to be pretty jarring, sometimes cutting from 1 scene to the next with adequate explanation. The H-scenes are some of the worst I have ever seen in a VN. They are very brief and isn't incorporated into the story very well at all, and is next to pointless to the story in the routes.

The main thing is the route selections. There are a total of 23 (this from memory. Not to sure whether or not it's 100% accurate. Anyway should be close enough lol) scenes to choose from in order to go into a character's route and there are absolutely no indication which path leads into which route (This is not an issue in D.C.P.C however). I had to make a manual route MS word entry myself in order to go into a route. It's the first time I had ever done that and it's tedious AF (don't ask me why I didn't consult a guide on the net. I would like to know myself :vinty:)

You can get a lot of other better VNs for a small topup to Da Capo's asking price. I suggest you avoid it

I appreciate all these tips! I'm skipping forward to Da Capo 2 now. In fact:

    Spoiler

I just got to the "winter" section and it played that intro video. I screamed in fury outloud, no lie. Because I seriously thought the game was ending, that I had finished the path I was on. I was gonna come back and say how the hell is this supposed to be better than CLANNAD. But then the game kept going. Rofl material, here.

i can handle reading this over ntr. cuckolding is at least consent for everyone involved.

I don't see the difference. They're both fantasy, you know? Coming towards the same goal from two different directions. But I certainly don't know what I'm talking about in regards to NTR.

I think it's a little odd that you'd say "it's not consensual". That's like saying rape hentai isn't consensual, while rape roleplay is. They're both fantasy that serves that same purpose, you know? All real humans involved are 100% consenting in both situations.

Da Capo 2 can be considered almost a remake of Da Capo 1, since story and characters are similar just vastly improved. I'd therefore just skip Da Capo and go straight for Da Capo 2.

Ok I think that's what I'm going to do.

    Spoiler

I kinda felt like I wanted to quit because the game was going both slowly and sadly. That girl just keep puking sakura petals. I think it's going to haunt me that I didn't finish the game and get catharsis. But that's ok. I started up Da Capo 2 just now and got that thrill of starting a new VN and watching the intro sequence and thinking "woah so many characters I can't wait to meet them!"

As for Da Capo 2, more or less it's a sequel to the first Da Capo although if you more or less it's the same with the first Da Capo though. While the original Da Capo were definitely have the charm, if you've been bored by that feel free to skip it to Da Capo 2 after finished both of Sakura's and Nemu's route. Of course if you've been playing the first Da Capo and took the interest to another girls, then feel free to play the girls route. Hope that it would answer your question here.

Ok so at least do Sakura and Nemu, than switch to DC2 if I get bored. That's exactly the kind of advice I was looking for, than you very much. I shall get back to it, as soon as I can peel myself away from spending time with my various wives in Evenicle.

It's one of my favorite nakiges, along with Da Capo 2 and Clannad. Though my favorite imouto type character is probably Mayuki from Comyu.

Should I start with Da Capo 2? Or completely finish Da Capo 1 first? Or just do one playthrough of Da Capo 1? What's your suggestion for maximum enjoyment, being someone who enjoys the game?

  17. I've only done one quick play through of Da Capo 1 so I know almost nothing. I'm excited to get into the series, and wanted to ask - what's the best way to do it?

Is Da Capo 2 a direct sequel that I should start up only after doing every last little bit of Da Capo 1? Or is it a superior rehash of the same thing, and I'd best be served by starting with it or switching to it after doing only a little bit of the original?

I'm terrified of spoilers, so instead of googling it I'm asking this here and hoping somebody saves me.

    Love
