Foreword: It seems to be one of most popular games of AXL with multiple console releases and even almost full translation, such game just can't be missed.

And ... I'm denouncing this game as masterpiece and game of the month. It's the worst of first three AXL games so far.
My main concern is that I did not like common route at all. I tried to appreciate the humor here, but could not. The same cheap trap cliche elements are repeated over and over - girls try to see protagonist's pants/breast/nakedness with him being super-protective about it.
Heroines are too bland for me. Basically, all of them are ojou-sama attending Nadeshiko club at elite girls school. That alone makes them share half of traits. I'm not a fan of this archetype, the only ojou-sama I liked was Kashiwara Sarina from Kira☆Kira. But in previous two AXL games there were several cool side-characters who contributed greatly to game's humor so that girls could bear more serious approach. In Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate gay teacher and weird chief Kachou did not impress me at all.
I even have concerns about system. Common route is super long, but is filled with filler scenes mostly. So when we replay the game and skip all scenes that game allows us to skip... there's very little left for individual heroine route. And I find those 50 choices to make during each route super irritating. Why is such torture implemented instead of normal funny route and individual route fork? It's just a huge time waste implemented just to look at individual girl events early on. Even Marina the spoiled cute child could not justify watching those small events let alone the others. As for heroines, Yuuri felt most human-like since she guessed protagonist's gender identity early on and thus was fun to watch at common events.
I rarely care about heroines; they are usually just worthy additions to the story. But here there's zero story. Those couple action scenes don't bear much significance for the plot. And learning the culprit identity makes replaying just not worth it. It's not the same AXL that I like, and it's not a work to represent the brand. I see Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate as the root of moege poison for the brand that spread to several future works in attempt to appeal the audience. Now I have a reason to skip some of AXL future works.
Joker II is the only masterpiece game of February 1992.
1. Bacta Bacta [920204] Himeya Soft 1 2
Jinpachi looks out for demons and fights them. Since demons may hide as female humans, he has to use unorthodox physical techniques sometimes to reveal their true identity.
The protagonist really sticks out as a cool guy always wearing glasses and having affinity for guns. He has two important talents - ability to detect demons and ... he likes women. He's absolutely sure that upon reaching orgasm any demon would flee from possessed body. Demons have "Bacta" engraved on the body, but game's not really telling us what it is or maybe they don't know for sure themselves. And there's hardly any conclusive apart of blowing demons headquarters. It's a light game where hero actually rapes women on suspicion but does not feel bad about it. Game has a serious atmosphere, but actually it's a collection of gags. What makes it special is that it's first game of Himeya Soft, brand very well known in the West due to the fact that they officially released every VN in English since 1996 till breakup in 2003. And although it's not a serious game, the impression is brilliant for a new brand.
2. Joker II ジョーカーII [920214] Birdy Soft 1
The story picks up 6 months after prequel. But the job is not done. Laura keeps coming to him in dreams asking to rescue her and this time he has to get to the bottom of it.
The first part ended in devastation for Wild, so this time there's a more satisfying ending. Systems have not changed since the prequel, maybe with the exception of graphics. The number of girls is still big and vampire Blanca is still gorgeous. Unusual wild west setting in combination with fantastic atmosphere make Joker II very cosy. Prequel really seemed short and lacked impact. You literally came to town, gathered information, involved in relationship with a girl, confronted monsters and night and that's it. So few of the owners of Joker were motivated to try the sequel. This time the story gets darker, much longer and even more serious with an abundance of blood scenes. A masterpiece game, actually, but it was easily forgotten of in Windows era.
3. Uruma うるま [920227] Softhouse Bonbee Bonbon
Takeshi went hiking with his girlfriend Mai. As they approached a strange monument it burst and Takeshi regained consciousness at the hospital. The local townspeople explained that it was a monument to Chinese humanoid god Uruma and hero who unlocked the seal now got the ki power to attract women. In order to save Mai Takeshi needs to cross the sea and seek advice from the shrine maiden on a Sun island.
First Bonbon work has a clunky interface and not really intriguing story.

Basically it's remake of JACK VN back from 1988, now for pc-98 machines. And it was not officially released, more like published unofficially after company bankruptcy. And since we tackled on JACK story and appeal points previously, moving on.

It's a mini-adventure with culture festival a the stage. Command selection is used to look around, talk with everyone and just be at the right place in the right time.
Foreword: It's the only chunige of the month, so an obvious choice.
Synopsis:
Demon Parasites..., the ones who can transform themselves into soldiers by holding a mysterious parasite inside. One night, Juzo meets Mizuki, who is a demon parasite, in the park, and gets to know that he is also a demon parasite. Now that he is a demon parasite, he gradually gets involved in a battle against monsters. Will he be able to defeat them...?

So you must be wondering how could Demon Parasite win over other great five masterpieces of the month. There is some personal preference towards chunige, but it's also a great game, so it's time to explain why.
Story is called common place by some reviewers since it's students who get transformation powers and fight monsters, but it's actually based on a tabletop setting created by Kitazawa Kei in 2006, so the world is really well thought and detailed here. Not all the parts of the setting are utilized though like there's no Seraphim organization, but it's fun to know the setting basics and theorize who is Phalanx and who is Brigandine. It's a serious dark fantasy story, so don't expect bright development.
This kinetic novel only took me 10 hours to record, and it definitely leaves room for a sequel. It has full voicing, great CG, powerful BGM and animation. Heroes are mature and logical, except maybe for Futaba - and her hysteria behavior actually constitutes the single penalty score for the game. Both tsundere and yandere archetypes are present. Mizuki is plain awesome as main heroine. There aren't H scenes. Everything is just as I like it. So what can people possibly be upset about this game?
Those very few negative reviews name these disadvantages of the game: lack of CG, battle cut-ins that hurt tempo, short length, lack of excitement. Some see that it's a quarter-price work (2000 yen without soundtracks) and thus just can't rate such cheap game highly. These arguments are laughable. As for me, everything I like was united for one impactful experience here. It's not a long work, so I don't want to spoil game events. I encourage to see for yourself, since chunige of this high quality are rare to come by.
Bradyon Veda is beyond reach in January. Clephas tried to choose a game that is good for everyone, so stopped at Sekai to Sekai no Mannaka de . Other nice choices are Kimi to Boku to no Kishi no Hibi -Rakuen no Chevalier- and 12 no Tsuki no Eve . Micchi also feels for Melty Moment and Kiss Ato

It was the first time that the girls had experienced such an intimate co-ed life. Will they fall in love being in such close quarters?
Faint Tone was more scenario oriented while this one is primarily Ichirabu. Depending on the heroine there can be additional mystery or chuni, but game is still rough and thin.

Makoto attends a local school which specializes in the arts, but he didn’t have much confidence in his ability. Nearing the end of his second year, he came to the workspace that was opened up to students to work on his year-end project. Sitting next to him was a girl from another class, Tsukuyo, who was famous for her art skills. After watching her work and seeing her art, he fell in love with her.

This story takes place in a town full of residential areas and apartment complexes. The town is what you would a commuter town, and is a nice, quiet refuge from the hustle and bustle of urban cities.
There are no skyscrapers to be found, nor any big-box stores. Instead the townscape is comprised of houses and apartments. It has a nice, relaxing ambience, and there's a certain nostalgia that fills Takeru's chest when he looks out his window at the two. The only tall buildings so to speak of are the buildings around the station, or the apartment towers along the redeveloped riverbank.
Here one doesn't need to look up to see the beautiful, blue sky. When the sun sets in the evening, the mountains in the distance, and the hill road leading up to school become tinged in a crimson hue. If you ever want to know what time it is, all you need to do is check the sun.
Our story begins in late September. The time of the year when an end to the blistering summer heat is finally within sight.
It was a normal day for Takeru. He was leisurely walking down the riverbank with his friends as he always does, just as the sun was about to set. It was all part of the same daily routine he was used to. But tiny changes can cause that daily walk home to change, in ways that may one day come to tell a story of love.
They were tiny indeed, nothing special. Just the small, daily happenings that we each experience in our daily lives.

Akatsuki no Monument is the second Detective Conan game for Game Boy Advance and features scenario mode as well as various mini-games. The main game story kicks off with Conan, Ran and Kogorou on their way to ceremony of a newly built resort by the sea. Kogorou Mouri, as a renowned detective (thanks to Conan), was invited to the opening ceremony, while Conan and Ran are just tagging along. As they arrive, the owner of the luxury resort asks them to look into the rumors about the land where the mansion was built on. The rumor is known as the so called "village of suicides". Later that evening, as they check the buffet and meet many other invited guests, pleasantries are exchanged and small talks reveal little to nothing of interest... until, a body falls down on a sports car that was on the display in the lobby area. Coincidence, or is there really some truth to these rumors... Conan is taking up to find out the truth and discover the mystery behind this death as well as the rumors that are plaguing the area.

2. Gakuen Kaiketsu Kururi! 学園怪傑くるり！ [050422] Troy
Main character is a school troublemaker who finds himself in a pitch. His father accumulates a large debt and flees from creditors. Son tries to involve six classmates and teachers to help him raise the money.
It's basically a bakage with a fun protagonist and hyper-stereotypical heroines. At the very least SOL scenes are funny. Then game delivers fantasy development without explaining anything, so there are questions to game's integrity. The setting is quite fresh as school is actually a huge autonomous study ground with 12,000 students fulfill every social role there, even firefighters and police. It's still a moege, but at least a funny and lively one.
3. Jun'ai Shoutengai 純愛商店街 [050422] Honey Soft
Main character attends an elite school with shy personality. There are four shopping girls in the neighborhood who see admire him, but don't have a chance talk to him. One day his sister asks him to take private tutorship over neighboring shopping girls. Life changes 180 degrees for him. He who must teach others has to learn many things about deep love himself.
Game lasts a month with a week for each girl, plus one extra week for the girl of interest. It's a pure love story with some comedy mix. There are only 2-3 H scenes per heroine, but pretty sure this game can also be called a moege with a lolicon scent.
4. Ojou-sama Kumikyoku お嬢様組曲 [050422] Symphony 1 2 3
Protagonists name is Kaoru, it is a name used for girls normally, he has no idea why his parents decided to name him like that. And just because of that when he was changing schools he gets enrolled to a girls high school by mistake. Unhappy with this turn of events at first, he soon grows to like the new school.
Basically all the three impressions are short, belong to same person and written in the same words, so I guess I'll play this "hidden gem" myself. Just mind it that I'm not good with pure romance games and choosing this one just because there is nothing of interest to me this month.
5. Boku wa Tenshi Janai yo 僕は天使じゃないよ [050428] 130cm 1 2 3
After the Great Kanto Earthquake and the World War people are living in difficult times.
The main character, Kitami Ichizou ran away from his wealthy home along with his maid, and took up a job as a novel writer. One day he receives a mysterious letter about an invitation to a dubious secret club called "Masquerade" where he meets Zakuro, the performer there. On the other hand he also received another letter from Sister Yurino, a nun working at the orphanage which Ichizou donated in the past to. Yurino's letter gradually reveals a troubling confession about her own hidden side. What will Ichizou do about these two peculiar cases, what point will he end up? Find out and relive the old times in this S&M novel.

The hero of this story is Takashiro Shugo - an ex-police officer, now unemployed and freeloading at a brothel. From time to time he takes on detective work from his former superior.
A missing persons case is dumped onto him one day. Kohzuki Yura... the girl he had an intimate relationship with before being sent off to war. A brutal series of killings begins. As they occur closer and closer to home, Shugo can no longer turn a blind eye, and is dragged into the spiraling web of missing people and murders.

7. Kami-sama no Iu toori Kujibiki Ai-biki Scramble 神様のいうとおりッ くじびきAI-BIKIスクランブル [050428] Rune
There is a weird class at our school where people from first to third grade are gathered for some purpose. I never expected to have anything to do with it, but here I am, a new class member surrounded by seven girls. As it turns out, there is a mysterious social study lesson where relationships are determined with a lottery. The theme of first lesson is "slave".
Roles are pretty much predetermined by the lottery and do not change with the routes. Another reason why it doesn't feel interesting is that it ends halfway as experiment is cancelled. Girls are pretty cute and nice to talk to. Erotic content is not much dense, but rather fetishist with things like footjob dominating. Not sure what Rune was planning to do, but result is not bad, whatever it is.
8. Lovedol ~Lovely Idol~ らぶドル 〜Lovely Idol〜 [050428] Princess Soft 1
The Lovely Idols are a group of young idol singers who have become very popular. The player takes the role of Fujisawa Tomohiro, managing the girls' schedules and helping them improve their skills. The player also talks to the girls about their troubles and can date them. The game could be considered a part of the raising sim sub-genre due to its focus on training the idols.
I'm not the target audience for this another Princess Soft fluke.
9. Mabino Style マビノ×スタイル [050428] KID
In this magical love simulation, you get to know six young witches in training as you yourself study at a magic school set in a different world. Your goal in studying is to return to your own world. At the start of every in-game month, you set up your hourly schedule, choosing from six different forms of magic to practice with one of the girls. Between learning, you go out with the girls on dates. Based on your responses in conversation, the girls' feelings towards you change.
Another SIM game that I don't care about.
10. Milkyway 3 [050428] Witch
Over 20 years have passes since events of Milkyway 2. Cafe owners migrated overseas leaving the establishment for Sakuya to inherit. Once again he returns to the cafe in attempt to try to revitalize it with new workers and fight debt. Young entertainment genius Koibun buys crumbling Milkyway from Sakuya. Both descendants of former heroines and new girls flood the coffee shop once more.
There's a long management part that determines heroine, then it moves to ADV part. Game has improved greatly in scenario composition and personality depth, but still lacks in comedy description and game design refinement.
11. Nusunde MyHeart 盗んでMyHeart [050428] Lover Soul
Tokyo, 21st century.
City drown in a long recession is shocked by a series special theft crimes. The swiftest of those phantom thieves is red-haired girl Kaito Bunny the Taker. Main character is an orphanage boy adopted by Fujinomiya family. His acquaintance with Ryoko girl from this family strangely coincides with the beginning of thefts.
Information is fatally missing. Neither character descriptions, nor motivations are given properly. It's a very painful to read bakage with jokes being funny only in the head of scenario writer.
12. Oni Kagura 鬼神楽 [050428] Studio e.go!
Main character finally hunts down the demon who killed his whole family. But fight proceeds unfavorably, and on the brink of defeat he tears off demon's arm and devours it becoming half-demon himself. The demon flees, and protagonist's wounds get treated by shrine maidens. But that's only a small delay on the road of revenge.
Compared to Natsu Kagura, development system is severely cut. Upon defeat protagonist turns into a demon gaining new abilities and contributing to game's insult scenes. Difficulty level is quite low, so collecting defeat HCG is still difficult due to weakness of bosses.

In the school the three people met. Their relation had been changed in the season, and turned into three love stories.
Makoto has been admiring a girl he has seen on the train. That girl is Kotonoha Katsura, and he even managed to take a photo of her with his cell phone. Due to new seating in his class, he ends up next to Sekai Saionji, a nosy, but sweet and sincere girl. As she snoops for his cell phone while talking to him, she discovers his crush and vows to help him until Kotonoha agrees to go out with him. When Sekai finally gets them together, she realizes her own feelings after finding out that the person Kotonoha liked was, in fact, Makoto. While waiting for her train next to Makoto, who was waiting for Kotonoha, she has him talking about how he can repay her for all of her help. Before leaving for her train, she kisses him and cries when she boards the way home. Kotonoha happily arrives for her date with Makoto shortly after. With all three main characters carrying different expressions on their faces, the story begins.

1,200 years after the Demon King Arawn was sealed, a priest of the "Holy Empire" conspired to free him, using the young oracle Riannon as a sacrifice.
However, the appearance of Riannon's brother Arthur, striving to save his sister, put his plan in peril. In the ensuing chaos, by a twist of fate, Arawn is unwittingly released by Riannon. So begins their tale...

The protagonist, Hatase Hibiki, meets a young girl in the yard of an abandoned house next door, who is lost and crying. Little Hibiki tries to comfort her, and notices she is hurt, so he licks the blood from her wound and bandages it. Then the guardian of the young girl appears and takes her away, as she tells Hibiki that she will not forget him. Now Hibiki is in high school, and one day as he's walking to school with his neighbor and childhood friend, Miu, a girl suddenly falls from the sky before them: she is Melissa, princess of the demon world, and she claims that Hibiki is her fiance, because in the demon world tradition, when one drinks the blood of another it is a proposal for marriage. Contrary to his initial impression, Ayame was a hardcore gamer, lacked common sense and called herself a princess from the Sengoku era.
Ayame story is fairly interesting, but other heroines aren't really. Cute and fine, but rather short and boring overall.

When he was about to leave, the storeowner Kuroha asked him if he would like to ‘buy time’. He was perplexed at her question, but was too worried about finishing up the club’s booth for the culture festival, muttering that ‘if he only had one more day, then everything would be done in time’. “Thank you, please come again,” said Kuroha as he left.
As expected, there wasn’t enough time for them to finish their preparations, so the club members all stayed overnight at the school to finish up. Although some parts were still not completely done, they planned to give it their all. When they woke up, they began their preparations for the culture festival the next day. An extra day had been added due to Taki’s wish, and he was the only one who realized it.

He thought that this was merely a fairy tale, until he met a ghastly girl wrapped entirely in bandages who said she had been waiting for him even if he forgot about her. She gave the tsukumogami Hakujasei to him, and it morphed into a giant snake and attacked him. Cornered, he was saved by another girl with a handgun tsukumogami, Fusehime. Afterwards, Fusehime revealed that she did not have any memories of her past, except that she made a promise to protect someone.

Relix is an investigator sent to the star to deal with the incident consequences.
So it's an SF investigation obscure game with no reviews in japanese.
2. Business Wars ビジネスウォーズ [920124] HECT 1
The game takes place during the 1980s in what would be called the Age of Consolidation. Companies were merging together to be conglomerates. All the consolidation among the corporations were starting to affect the U.S. economy in an unprecedented way. Even the Caribbean was affected by the corporate giants of the 1980s.
A lot of strategy is used when players have to make decisions and negotiate. Messages always arrive using the data feed style to make the game more business-like. The game can end with a loss if the wrong decision is made at the wrong time (similar to dying in an action game). The player will have to deal with loan sharks in the Caribbean, ruthless corporate executives from rival companies, arbitration sessions, and components that make the game look more like a strategy game at times. There are no items to use and very little action (with moving the guy around a virtual office building).
I'm not really going to discuss an economic simulator without a story and characters.

One day the hero picks up a notebook and it turns out to be a possession of a girl student of St. Francis girls academy where his fiance is teaching. All three of them meet in a cafe, but girl looks very anxious. Her sister disappeared. And we'll help to find her.
First part of Angel's afternoon special series. Difficulty is high since you can't just bruteforce it - wrong actions can easily prevent further progress and result in bad end. You feel like on an Eastern Express - you need to be at exact place at exact order. You move from place to place and get information from beautiful girls, sometimes forcing a relationship to get it out. There are some 6 routes, so it looks much like charage.
4. Himitsu no Hanazono 秘密の花園 [920131] Tokuma Shoten Publishing Co. 1
One day a beautiful adult woman moves to live next to the main character. She turns out to be a new teacher, but she actually is a private detective investigating the case of school president granddaughter murder right at school. Hero gets to know about her true identity and decides to help the investigation.
Command selection varies from spot to spot. Hero can investigate alone or with one of three girls including main heroine. There is actually one ending but in order to get there you'll need to switch heroines to accompany you a lot. This kind of character design cannot be confused with anything else. Urasuhara-sensei is in charge of graphics and it's supercute. There is also eye and lip animation. Story is actually lacking and full of H-scenes. But later there was pc-engine version that had all characters voiced and had all the H-scenes cut. So it turned out to become a noteworthy charage.
5. Himitsu Chouhou Buin - 00Nanako-chan 秘密諜報部員00ななこちゃん [920101] Overture
Nanako comes from a spy family succeeding after her father and older sister. Finally she gets her first task...
A doujin game on a horrible visual basic 5 engine that I failed to launch. Still there are couple gameplay videos at niconico. This is basically a bakage with weird events happening around Nanako. There are quite a lot of beautiful illustrations in the game.
There are no masterpieces in January and Dragon Eyes becomes the winner by default since it's the closest thing to a normal visual novel.

Dragon Eyes is a "space opera" kind of story, focusing on a young girl named Ines, who lives on the planet Miu of the Phi Sun. She grew up together with a space agent named Klind, to whom she refers as "brother". One day, her superior from the planet Garudoria informs her that Klind has disappeared during one of his missions and might be in danger. Ines travels to Garudoria to find additional information, and soon becomes involved in a vast space conflict...
Space opera type with girl Ines who lost contact with space agent Klind who was like brother to her. She heads to planet Garudoria where he was last contacted only to be involved into huge space conflict...
Space opera setting is usually alone enough already to gain appeal. And it really looks like it's here just for the charm. Dragon eyes has splendid graphics on the top. Heroines are beauties (with nakedness not rare). Total number of CG exceeds 200 which was very good volume. But sadly it lacks in every other division. Controls are mediocre since it's usual non-simplified command selection. Sci-Fi setting is spoilt by magic interference. Plot advances feel cheap. It's still would be good work if you really like its graphics.
2. Misty Vol.7 Misty Vol.7 [910125] DataWest 1
Misty Vol.7 is a detective mystery adventure game set in modern-day Japan and starring the young private investigator Ryū Kamishiro. The game consists of five unrelated cases that can be accessed in any order from the main menu. These cases range from seemingly mundane matters to thefts, mysterious disappearances and murder investigations.
This volume contains the following cases: The Color in the Darkness, Airtight Archipelago, Bonds of Illumination, A Watch Without a Needle and Innocent Vision.
A serious detective game which is a genre that I don't feel confidence to discuss.
3. Phantasy Star II Text Adventure: Anne no Bouken ファンタシースターII テキストアドベンチャー アンヌの冒険 [910130] Sega 1 2 3 4
Amy Sage (Japanese: アンヌ・サガ (Annu or Anne Saga)) has just finished her internship at the hospital in River Town, and has become a full-fledged doctor. Calm, yet strong-willed, she is dedicated in helping everyone who needs her medical aid. Her chapter takes place in the spring of AW 1284, shortly before the events of Phantasy Star II, giving the player some insight into why she became a doctor and decided to specialize in helping victims of Biomonster attacks.
Game is localized and has enough information in English.
4. Dragon City ドラゴンシティ [9101] Fairytale X-Shitei
One day hero is taken to a different world. And in this world women are taught to respond to desires of men.
Fairytale X-Shitei is actually the main company name of 1991. It's the first division to produce only specialized H works without much plot, but with top level of drawing. And since there was no regulation yet, it was produced without any censorship. And eventually by the end of the year it led to an arrest of company director for indecency and introduction on censorship in computer games. This game is on par to the overall flow - cute and indecent.
5. Soapland Story II -Memory- ソープランドストーリー Ⅱ -Memory- [9101] Hard
City nanpa adventure with more complex mechanics and maintaining such stats as Life, Strength, Experience and Money.
This is one of the earliest tilts into SIM, but just the nanpa synopsis does not not invoke much interest.
Wow, seriously, every unblocked game this month already has an English review. Finally there's a good coverage and less work for me. Anyway, VN of the Month is Itsuka, Todoku, Ano Sora ni . Gekkou no Carnevale , Hotel Dusk: Room 215 are masterpieces. I'm reviewing first two games. Games with active gameplay like Koihime Musou aren't considered.

Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu is a story revolving around a secret war that has been going on below the public's eye since 1947 and a group of people involved in the war, either directly or indirectly. The main protagonist is a young high school student named Naoyuki Asaba who, on the last day of summer break, sneaks into the school at night to swim in secret. However, upon arrival at the pool, he meets the mysterious Kana Iriya, who is there for the same reason. However, she doesn't know how to swim, so Naoyuki offers to teach her how to swim. During this private lesson, a group of people show up in search of Kana and take her back to the nearby air force base where she is staying.
The next day, Naoyuki is surprised to find that Kana joins his class as the new term begins. Eventually, both of them take a liking to each other and Naoyuki even gets her to join the school newspaper club. Little does Naoyuki know that Kana is in fact an expert fighter pilot engaged in a war between humans and aliens that has been going on since the Kenneth Arnold incident on June 24, 1947. The whole world's fate rests in the hands of Kana Iriya and if she can ultimately hold off the invasion in the final battle.

You start off as Romeo, a slack taxi driver who absolutely stinks at going around the city with his taxi. Or that’s what he looks like from the outside.
But the truth is, he’s a runaway werewolf from the Orma Rossa, the only remaining werewolf clan.
He lives together with Anna, an Antique doll he picked up from the dump after he left the Orma Rossa. She doesn’t have any memory of the past. So she’s living happily with Romeo.
But pleasant times never continue for long. Orma Rossa do not feel like ignoring Romeo any longer and the group called Luparia (the archnemesis of the werewolves), is moving behind in the shadows. Akutsu Masaomi and Higuchi Saburou, the 2 protagonists of the story managed to survive from the hellish SHCP trial and enter in the final part of their examination. They soon meet the current SHCP in charge of the town, Ari Ruruliant Houzuki. Cunning and often plotting behind their back, Ari will monitor them as the two will be in charge of Saika Miina, the only student with an obligation at that given time. Masaomi progressively realize that Miina’s situation is completely irrational, but many obstacles will arise before him.

It's minor masterpiece scores. There are many reasons for it. So every element needs separate explanation.
First things first. It's Evangellion! Just really, same bright atmosphere with some mecha battles and some psychological drama. Yukie is a copy of anime Asuka, and Sakuya is so much alike Rei. And these are two main heroines as well here. Zwei Worter actually has three main heroines with the third one being Illuda, guess just because she was the most memorable heroine in Dyogrammaton.
As for prequel-sequel link, I did not play Dyogrammaton, but people who played say that there is very little connection between the games, so it's safe to play right from Zwei Worter, but of course many elements like Shigure twin sisters are a welcome adaptation in the new game.
But the story is not really special, pretty much copy of Evangellion, and that poses trouble. Writers basically tell us to imagine that it's something like Evangellion and don't care to build a unique world. Explanations are lacking, and story becomes rough. Game also tries to be bright and preserve anime-like atmosphere, so it actually loses in comparison with Evangellion due to less serious approach. No deep mysteries are uncovered, it's mostly about heroines and mecha robot action scenes.
But when it comes to heroin routes, it's not that simple. There are four different writers for five heroines + one sub heroine, and that determines quality shifts. Basically, Sakuya is a paragon one with all elements fit in place. Illuda route is almost as good, but with some deterioration in the second half. Alias is really moe with her constant "nya" and nekomimi. But Yukie route is flashy and bland while Piano... plain weird.
There is also Append Story and Final Story. Append one is just one hour long and it's basically about side heroine Shigure and... suit! The suit is actually the most memorable heroine. She does not have a head, but is so funny that it looks really hilarious. Final Story actually has a revelation at the start, but ending is kind of meh.
Overall, game is of high quality and good variety. It lacks excitement, and active gameplay in battles with fast clicking only irritates (especially in one route when there are four battles in a row and you urgently need to do something), but those couple good heroine routes and couple crazy side characters pull it through.
I don't feel eligible to write a full review since I only listened to the voice parts of the game. And the reason for that is that the game is unhookable by any instruments. No threads are found at all. Still I'm confident enough on the grappled content to write my thoughts of it.
First things first: game has very poor systems.
1) Full-screen only. My try to launch it in window-mode with Dxwnd succeeded, but menu top started to fly separately from the main windows and mouse cursor started being distorted in space so full-screen is the only comfortable way to play.
2) There is no skip function. The closest thing to it is CTRL which draws a full wall of text and you need to press CTRL separately for each such wall of text which amounts to thousands of hits of this key.
3) Sound volume is outrageous. Voice is way too low and sounds and bgm way too loud even when voice maxed up and other sounds minimized. I had to pull sound volume to the limit of speakers to hear voices well, but each time BGM stroke there was a shock feeling. BGM only sounds for one minute and calms down so that minute was the most painful time over and over again. Maybe it was different for win98 but no compatibility helps. By the way, installer only launches with win98 compatibility.
4) CG viewer is one of the worst I ever seen. Out of five heroines it shows CG of two first heroines fairly well and there's the beginning of 3rd heroine and there's no way see the rest with game means.
That being covered you can probably guess my irritation with the game even though the game was not started yet. But there are some positive sides of the game:
1) Full voiced, including protagonist.
2) Beautiful clean graphics.
3) Good structure - 2 girls available from the start, then consecutively three more girls open up and then there's the true route.
4) Longevity - all six routes take about 40 hours of time to read properly.
Let's touch the story a bit.
Matsunaga Yoshihiro is a young man given the task of watching over a group of students from Touyou School on their summer break to a beach. One of the students, Morisawa Nao, has had sadness in her heart from her past - something Yoshihiro can relate to, having his own issues arrising during the trip.
That's the rough synopsis with the only remark that it's for anime made the next year. Morisawa Nao is the main character only in anime. In the game she's just one of five ordinary heroines. She's one of the two started heroines, so I guess she's chosen for the main part in anime since first two days mostly focus on those two starter heroines in game while the path to the next ones is branched off much further. Morisawa Nao is a much better choice over the other starting heroine Iwasaki Chinatsu since the former one is much more attractive and has the most dramatic story among all the non-true heroines.
I don't really feel like covering heroines or even the true route heroine since I like the anime short version much more than those routes.
Conclusions.
New Elf is different. Old Elf works were challenging and playful. This work is stripped of any playfulness and it's a mere imitation of other successful nakige with true route structure. Heroines routes are vastly meaningless and only true route has some meaning. The locked forced structure makes us play the same story for six times with the branching only done by the middle of it without a good skipping feature. This monotonous flow is extended to excessive 40 hours without any satisfying conclusion.
Shizuka is the most bashful heroine, but her route included childhood memories scene of her sitting and covering the head with hands while other children get in a round-play and sing the exact "Kagome" song from Kazeoto, Chirin. I get that it's not C's Ware that invented the song, but it looked just like a shameless plagiarism to me.
So one more faint question remains - why the hell this crap of a game is VN of the Month November 1999?! Well, with all the flaws of this work it's the modern type work with nice characters and true route. When I look at other November 1999 VNs there are even more irritation factors like SIM, bakage, hetare protagonist, H-focus, shortness or lack of info. Refrain Blue is the only one that's not defiled by those factors. And it's not that bad of a story, just overextended one and lacking in excitement. This is actually the 2nd case after Interlude (2003) where I liked anime version much more than the game. Interlude changed the plot to clear the mess of a setting and Refrain Blue just gathered the most interesting heroine path together with true route, cut everything else and set the table with a nice one hour long work. If you want to taste Refrain Blue, just watch the anime version, really.
For the time being, I prefer stories without romance at all, and BLACK SHEEP TOWN is a safe bet for me, as for others, time will show
1. BLACK SHEEP TOWN [220915] BA-KU
The setting of this work is "District Y".
It is a cosmopolitan downtown area where immigrants from all over the world live, and it is full of energy of visitors who enjoy its unique atmosphere, but the other side of the city is a dangerous area where gangs rule and the police have no power.
A decent Renya Setoguchi sound novel story in the setting resembling old Hong Kong. Gangs attack each other, serial maniac with transformation ability terrorizes community, and protagonist alongside officials gets involved in the center of conflict. Story zaps from one party to another.
2. 2045, Tsuki Yori. ２０４５、月より。 [220930] MELLOW
——Will humans still have “hearts” in 2045?
2045. Androids help people and undergo experiments to get more and more human-like.
A boy who hates androids, Ieiri Sou, in a local city meets a woman who is a cutting-edge android born on the moon. Longing for the human world, she escaped from the research institute and disguised herself as a human to run a coffee shop.
A boy who has met a strange person gradually learns about the strangeness of the city.
A student net idol, a nun Sister with superhuman physical abilities and a hidden face, two detectives from organization Public Safety Section Zero, gang leader with overwhelming charisma - they all get involved with human boy and android girl.
First two works of MELLOW were rather weird and of low price segment, this one is first full price. Nice cheerful setting, and the whole runaway android problem gets solved easily and early, so it's less about the story and more about the chosen girl. It all depends on implementation.
3. Hana wa Mijikashi, Odoreyo Otome 華は短し、踊れよ乙女 [220930] ensemble
It was about 100 years ago, in the 10th year of the Taishou era.
In the midst of a glorious and turbulent time.
The protagonist, Yamashina Rin, a kabuki actor who mostly playing onnagata roles, suffered a major setback in one of his performances. However, he found hope in the words of a blond girl he met by chance. In order to improve himself and return to the stage one day, he decided to transfer to an all-girls school oversees by a principal who is an admirer of his, and changed his name to "Fujinami Rin".
What awaited him at the school was his first exposure to the glamorous world. The students are the daughters of the prestigious families and foreign students from the West.
Arranged by the school's principal, Rin was accepted as a member of the "Eikakai", a group of five maidens who represent the students. In addition, he was assigned to live under the same roof with the Eikakai's girls. There, he also found Chris, the blonde girl who saved him.
An election to decide the top maiden, "Nadeshiko no Kimi", will soon be held.
Eventually, the purpose of the Eikakai was revealed to Rin, who knew nothing of the situation. The school is currently in the midst of a conflict between the Japanese and the foreigners. In order to solve it, an election will soon be held to decide the top maiden, "Nadeshiko no Kimi".
The candidates in the election are the five members of the Eikakai, including Rin. While Chris is the lead candidate for the Western side, Rin has been nominated by the principal as the lead candidate for the Japanese side. Although he was caught up in the principal's scheme, Rin gladly accepted it, as he saw this as an opportunity to improve himself.

Trap protagonist story is the last thing I would check out, so let's wait for first impressions

I feel like Key is lost in self-repeats of not so good but sold well and low effort planetarian ~Chiisana Hoshi no Yume~ in a constant chase for a fast buck. I'd be happy if I'm proved otherwise
There aren't masterpieces this month. My personal favorite is San Shimai due to it being my first visual novel, but I rate DIES IRAE even higher and nominate it for VN of the Month.
1. Exciting Milk Dai 1 Wa エキサイティングみるく第１話 [960201] Silence

Humanity is prospering through the expansion of the Earth's development, but natural destruction has also become extreme.
One day Amon, a scientist who opposed the destruction of nature, decided to return to the Earth 150 years earlier via time machine and protect nature. Police opposed that as it could bring unknown changes and followed Amon.
In the 20th century school girl Kurumi heard from a classmate that an aircraft landed in the forest and went alone to the forest out of curiosity.
Milk is a police officer from future who landed in the forest colliding with Kurumi. As a result of the collision Kurumi body was seriously hurt and her soul was placed into Milk body until full recovery.
Now Kurumi transforms to Milk at wilk and back by wearing glasses. Will she find Amon?
Game's fully animated as other Silence works. But it's even shorter than previous animated games barely exceeding 10 minutes time. There's just one fighting scene and it all ends with Amon coming to Kurumi class as transfer student. Looking forward to part 2.

Long time ago, human passions caused the appearance of a monster tribe that has since become unwelcome in the human society. Years of bitter antagonism and violence followed as humans settled in the land of Galesnia. A thousand years later, a simple warrior named Grog enters a forest inhabited by monsters, and becomes gradually involved in a struggle that puts him in the forefront of the defense of Galesnia.
Fish shop holder to the rescue of the world! The guy was sleeping peacefully when at night the "Apostle of Salvation" child appeared before him saying that the barrier started to weaken and will be destroyed in 13 days and only Grog can prevent that! Quite a simple rpg with only 13 lvls and basic stats. You can hold up to 10 recovery items and you get one every time you visit an inn or hitting a bed. Game is linear. So it's not the brightest species of RPG breed.
4. Persona ~Ingyaku no Kamen~ ペルソナ ～淫虐の仮面～ [960209] Sorciere 1
A series of gruesome murders shocks Japan. Young women are kidnapped, tortured, and killed under mysterious circumstances...
The protagonist wakes up in what looks like a hospital, but is in fact a special psychiatric facility on a space station. The hero doesn't remember anything, not even his name. Three young women - Shelly, Elisa, and Aoka - will help him to find his memory, and he will gradually realize who he is and what is his mission.
You need to regain your memory within 38 hours or the space station explodes. What's the best way to regain memories? I guess Japanese have their unique opinion on that. There are parameters of the hero and depending on numbers one of five protagonist personalities show up. Yes, he has a deep personality disorder and can be anything from a good guy to a sadist. Time also ticking so it's a nice rush factor. There are basically just three rooms on the spaceship. So it's an original system and is not necessarily an eroge if you play out as a good guy and aim for the happy ending that does not even have a H-scene.
5. Valentine Kiss: Birthdays 2 バレンタインキッス ～バースデイズ２～ [960209] Silky's 1
Valentine Kiss is a dating simulation game, very similar to Birthdays, only instead of "conquering" a girl as a birthday present, the goal here is to "score" on Valentine's Day
Second installation of a difficult sim that's memorable to me mostly by the fact that it's Silky's game and not a full-scale eroge. UI is still charming but it came from the prequel with minor changes. Quite few things changed actually and some even degenerated like the number of heroines dropped from 8 to 4. Main difference though is that while prequel was just hard everyday work to earn love, this work has events in ADV mode and all your hard work is useless unless you flag events properly. Still the freshness is lost since it has been two years since the prequel and not much changed.
6. DIES IRAE DIES IRAE [960215] Family Soft 1 2
Heroines Kim and her side partners Kris and Lee are professional detectives and they have very opposite personalities. Kim on one hand is very cheerful and lively all the time, Kris is very serious and quiet. They are investigating a murder case that ends up being a much bigger issue, revolving gang members, the mafia and later on some sci-fi elements.
There's a nice English review that sheds light on this curious game.
7. Kanako 香奈子 [960223] Red Zone 1
Kanako is a young woman who has just graduated from college and is in a desperate need of a job. Finally, she is invited to a job interview in a large and successful company. However, the boss seems to ask too many personal questions and generally looks at Kanako in a weird way. After she has been introduced to her duties at the new place, Kanako decides to get to know the employees better, and in process learns their most intimate secrets...
Red Zone inevitably means ero-centered work. But graphics are nice and win version is fully voiced, even the thoughts of the heroine - that was unexpected and captivating. Her thoughts is the most funny part in the game as she comments emotionally on many occasions.
8. Magical Girl Pretty Sammy Kouhen 魔法少女プリティサミー 後編 [960223] AIC Spirits

It is twenty-first century, and the humanity faces a difficult period that follows devastating wars and other disasters. Magic and technology co-exist, supernatural powers, mythical creatures, ghosts, cyberspace, where hackers meet and fight each other, street deckers which can be hired to do the dirty work, anarchy and struggle between mighty and corrupt corporations - this is the world of Shadowrun. Unlike the two other Shadowrun games which are set in Seattle, according to tradition, Shadowrun for Sega CD is set in the futuristic city of Neo Tokyo. The player controls a party of characters with different backgrounds: the street samurai Rikudo, the shaman girl Mao, the decker (a hired mercenary) D-Head (who also happens to be an elf), and Shiun, a former member of a mighty corporation. Their first assignment is to hunt down a ghostly warrior who has been disturbing a segment of the city for quite some time. As the player begins their investigation they plunge deeper into the dark world of intrigues and find themselves fighting on different fronts.
There are several great English reviews and there even might be a fan English translation according to some materials.
10. Escape! エスケイプ! [960229] May-Be Soft 1
In Escape, the player assumes the role of an ordinary teenager named Root. He is returning from a long journey, and just beyond the mountain, he can see his house. But fate had other plans for the boy: one step on the wrong stone, and Root falls through a dark pit into the underground world. Looks like it won't be simple for him to find the way home, because this world is populated by girls, each one of which wants something from him...
I've only seen Windows version and it's very simplified and plays like a normal visual novel with only occasionally choosing locations on the map. Characters are nice, but the story lacks excitement and all the time is spent underground. A fine game, but far from masterpiece level.
11. Kara no Naka no Kotori 殻の中の小鳥 [960229] Black Package 1
Foster, formerly a trainer of high-class prostitutes for a secret political group that used these girls to exert power over politicians, has has long been out of the game, as he and his cohorts were busted years back. However, Foster couldn't help himself and soon returned to his old profession. Some comments on the rating are necessary. I absolutely adore quality here as there is an abundance of CGs here, all male characters are voiced (except for protagonist), a lot of animation is used constantly, writing level is high. But as a whole it's a pretty straightforward action chunige with moderately interesting heroines and normal protagonist. The result is great, but within the expectation boundaries set by the concept.
A few words should be added about the story. Yuu has a gift to manipulate items from the start. He meets aggressive gift bearers very soon, and mysterious girl Eimu can't protect him all the time, so Yuu has his power awakened in extreme situation. Alliances between ayakashi wielders get forged and broken as they all try to find their place in the society and protect the world from this curse that drains power with each use. Soon Yuu finds out that his powers come from the incident that happened two years ago and of which he has no recollections...
As expected, anime version retells the introduction of the game very thoroughly and vividly (unlike game that tries to limit impact of blood in scenes), but then focuses mostly on action skipping all the build-up and gags. As a result, it feels like a spree of pretty random battles and starts to become boring around the middle of the series. Anime also does not have the liberty of following all the endings, so it focuses primarily on Eimu and her sister Akino endings. Eimu can be called the main heroine of the game due to complex personality (hinting this would be in the spoiler range already), and Akino story underlines the problem and future of ayakashi as species, so it's only natural these themes are developed in the anime. A lot of side characters get scrapped in the anime. What makes me feel awkward in the game is childish sprites of the girls. In CG they look much older, and in HCG even more mature. Anime fixes that by presenting slightly older versions of the heroines. Overall, anime feels forced and disappointing while game manages to provide a unique story while giving enough attention to various heroines. I especially liked that Chinatsu got her ending after being so poorly treated in the main course of the game.
Ayakashi remains mostly an action game while the philosophy of ayakashi as species becomes buried in whirlpool of betrayals. Game is highly enjoyable as it is, and my only regret is that age range of main characters and constant shift into action did not let the more serious themes to flourish. Every heroine is likable, and personal stories vary greatly, so I don't really see a reason to ditch this game.
Foreword: FlyingShine was never a good brand, it only flew and shined with invited writer stars like Tanaka Romeo, Setoguchi Ren'ya and Takemiya Yuyuko. But its works always try to seem more mysterious than they are. Kokorono is just like that - a game that I can't see through from the start, so yet another time I try even though nothing good can come from it.

Really low scores. But you should mind that I was not even sure about this game genre. It turned out to be a mix of yandere and utsuge, two genres that I detest. If you fancy such games and come with this idea in mind, it might even be a masterpice. But I'd like to say that I absolutely don't understand the meaning of yandere games. They look like side-genre from NTR as general idea that girls loves main character, then another girl shows up, and out of envy some bad deeds are done. But 2008 is the very beginning of yandere genre, at least outside of nukige niche, and Kokorono is a distorted yandere as there is no rival and no jealousy. So let's speak about concept.
Main character basically lives with two childhood friends - Yuma and Makoto - who spend most of their time in his apartment. These friends also become main heroines of the game. There are also three side heroines that we meet at school and outdoors. Even after meeting these women, we still spend most of time with childhood friends. These side heroines have distinctive personality features and traumas that become basis for their corresponding routes. And these routes feel absolutely like normal galge, just with slightly strange girls. But what makes the essence of this game is main heroine Yuma and bad endings. As for the second, every story moves in a similar flow as main character meets a slightly crazy girl who moves towards destruction downhill. If we encourage her behavior, we inevitably see some bad ending. If we ignore the girl at some point, we get an empty neutral ending. And only if we balance attention with forbearance we can get to a good ending. It resembles training a pet, to be honest. And those bad endings can be both humiliating and bloody. But the second pillar of the game is Yuma. She is basically the only true yandere heroine, but she fills all the space around her, so she is very important for game concept and attractiveness. Basically, you can't like this game if you don't like Yuma. And this girl is nuts. Main character does not consider her a lover material, and just this makes her increasingly unstable. She is also the heroine who puts on her crazy face all the time even in everyday scenes. After that you can't really look calmly at her innocent face. Suffice to say that her story is the darkest one. And after clearing four heroines Makoto route opens up. He is actually a male, but for true route he magically turns into a girl, it's this stupid move. He is the lighter variant of Yuma with a transvestite twist, and considered the magical transformation he's introduced just to add more weirdness to the concept and leave at least something memorable (his bad male ending is more memorable, though).
As for the downsides, for a game with score of 5/10 I can name many. CG are horrible. Characters are not attractive enough (except for Shizuko-sensei, she is the bomb). There's too much darkness and depression on a large scale. Content is subtle. Madness is better shown in Bifronte. Writing is mediocre. Protagonist is useless. There's no real mystery or story. What is to like here at all (except for Shizuko-sensei, naturally)?
That was easy. But I'll try to name something good as well. Shizuko-sensei. She is sexy, but her personality is also great and positive. She is mature, and she does not mind sex education session if homework is done well. Can't stand Yuuko as she is a cheater. Miki is kind of antisocial tsundere with some serious brain damage, so not really cool. Character design is not bad... at least for the time heroines wear normal faces. Crazy faces look like ahegao to me, and ahegao is the absolute worst thing for me. Personal trauma stories are rather good. Yuma has some seriously twisted personality which draws most of emotions, and most yandere fans usually like her. As for me, I can't see the point of this game. It brings zero satisfaction and only negative emotions. Shizuko-sensei does not make reading worth it, but other heroines just suck, so it's a single heroine gallery.
Why are there only six unblocked games? Guess it's just a quiet month since February 2007 had nine. Switch!! ~Boku ga Natsu ni Omou Koto~ is the only game with actual twist and somewhat curious plot.

The main portion of the game plays like an interactive novel where text is read and choices are selected to proceed further. When a battle pops up, simple combat commands are chosen to beat back enemy forces.

And we even use "Prophet of the Day" every morning to announce events to happen during this day - that gets a serious SIM feeling, but it's actually hints to help capture each heroine. All heroines love protagonist from the start. Game has a destinctive H tilt as 4 out of 6 heroines have 3P scenes. As you see, it falls really well with the Moege catagory.

What did Fujisaki Ryuuta do between writing Draculius and Grisaya? He did this game. Well, not entirely, only one and a half route or so. And game is well done in the happy atmosphere summer vacations in the village, nostalgia and friendship while shooting the film. And game is great and light while it lasts. But in a short time it totally wears off from the memory leaving only some supposedly good impression. There's nothing to remember. Protagonist is a sissy who can't decide anything despite being film director. There's no purpose. Due to two different authors heroines routes vary greatly in quality. Game becomes one of dozens un-individualistic nostalgia rural games forgettable so soon.

Studio e.go makes RPG mostly, but there's also a good number of AVG games. I remember trying one of their games long ago. It was not RPG, but had some weird repeating actions, and I just could not break through that loop or whatever it was. But in 2007 things must have changed completely already, so I can finally give this brand a new try.
As you see from the scores, things did not go just as I expected. First, I got to battle explanation system. Was a pretty long explanation. And I never faced a single battle. Guess it was turned off in the settings by default of whatever, but I don't remember touching anything there besides text speed. Then there was a spot to hunt androids. And no choices advanced the story. So I kind of chose hunt more and do other things like going home more. And somehow story went on occasionally. And now imagine that situations like that arise constantly in the game. Sometimes such scene was rushed in a minute, sometimes it took some 50 minutes of real time skipping and trying variants. And on the *th time of choosing the same variants it somehow proceeded. I cut some pointless stumbling in the video, but there is still abundance of such moments with up to half an hour of pointless skipping. Maybe there is really some kind of battle experience that I needed to get, but I never saw any experience meter or points, so can't say. It's all super confusing. Those who played with battles turned on say that battles are meaningless since you always know enemy's dice and can always choose perfect dice out of three variants to counter that.
Let's leave system weirdness be. We're here for the hard-boiled city fighting adventure, after all. Rex has a secret weapon - power to transform into Xvain who fights with the demon power. And if this power is misused, his humanity can be lost. And in game there are indeed variants at each of five chapters to rest or pray so that accumulated devil weariness is lifted each time. I wound not call story fine. With these random grinding layers it feels like story serves the fighting sequences, and not vice versa. Development is gentle with occasional humor moments. There are some nice characters like older brother or Slayer. And story can be enjoyed to a certain extent... if you can put up with no voicing. There is voicing in H scenes, but I cut them out clean in the video, so no luck here. What kind of game inserts voicing only in H scenes? Either game that wants to empathize heroines charm in special emotional moments or... nukige.
And here we come to the dark side of the game. When I occasionally glanced at game gallery, I could not recognize this game. There are a lot of devil HCG which can only be gained by approaching H events under different stages of devilishness. There are thee stages, but it's reported that at every chapter you are forced to reset this meter to 0, and there aren't enough battles to raise this parameter. So all those violation scenes could only be unlocked by actually hacking the game. Wow, just wow. This game manages to fail as a tactical game, as a story game (not with all those battle insertions), as a charage (after final H event there is less than a minute till credits) and now even as a nukige.
I really wanted to like this game, and I liked both battle nun Michelle and genius Rinse heroines. But I'm just not sure this game is even meant to be played this way as a pure-love action driven story. It feels more like RPG with actual RPG elements torn out. With every element examined the same word pops up in my mind. WEIRD.
Foreword: It would be weird if I reviewed only three games of the serious out of four. So here is the leftover piece - and again a worthy one.

Synopsis: A biological experiment that began in 1993 led to a terrible disaster in the beginning of 21st century. A virus that turned living beings into mutants and monsters has been unleashed. Soon the Earth turned into a terrifying place of chaos, as more and more human beings became infected. Unspeakable violence obliterated human civilization. Within a few years, humanity was on the verge of total annihilation. The Era of Darkness began.
But not all hope was lost. Humans began building cities known as "Domes", isolated from the wilderness, protected by glass from all sides, cut from natural resources. It was possible to start building civilization anew.
On one fateful day, the famous scientist couple Mizuhara were killed in what looked like an accident. Their project, which showed new ways of fighting the virus, descended into the grave with them. Their two children were separated and for a long time were unaware of their origins. But the wheels of destiny keep spinning, as the young Mizuhara is about to discover the truth about his parents, and perhaps bring new hope to humanity...

Rating comments: Huh, the worst rating of all games in the series. The biggest complaint this time is absolutely spineless and useless protagonist. We see his crying face so many times that the desire to hit him arises. Luckily, his female cousin Lucia hits him so many times during the game that even desire to hit him vanishes. Another my complaint is that the game gets very ero-centered by the end of it sacrificing some of the story for the sake of it. I'm glad it was fixed in later installations, but here it left a negative impact for me. And that brings forth my complaint about the story which I'll explain in the story description. Overall game quality stays on the same level as other games of the series which is very high.
Protagonist: Jackie makes the worst protagonist in the series and I'm very glad I did not change his name to mine (there is such menu option). He can't make his own decisions, complains and cries all the time. His female cousin Lucia who accompanies him for the most of the game is a typical tsundere - basically it's a less funny version of Rabby from Gao Gao 3rd. When by the end of the game she's asked why she's that much of a tsundere, she answers that she does not really understand herself often and does not know what she wants... jeez. Jackie can't make his own decisions, so Lucia does them all the time! And she chooses kind of the worst options, so they always get into trouble. And both protagonists are powerless, so they are abused for the whole first part of the game and it does not look funny, to be honest. But to compliment the developers there are nice sub-characters here and amplified humor part.
Characters: As usual, there are lots of sub-characters. The funniest one is Laila who is the genetic parent of Ilia from Gao Gao 3rd which means that they have totally the same personalities, but different memories. Another curious character is glasses wearing Meg who is a friend of protagonist Lucia. The beast girl protagonists encounter first is Lia, but she does not say anything but "Mi" and thus is almost useless for the story. And there's also a half-mermaid girl Nagi. Phew, that finishes the harem of Jackie. As if it's not enough - there also other sub-characters with H-events.
Story: Jackie was separated from his female cousin Lucia 10 years ago after death of their parents. Now Jackie goes from Pluto-city to Aristo-city to meet his cousin. She meets him at the station, but treats him as a dog which role Jackie joyfully accepts. She is foolish enough to fall for a nanpa and Jackie whines so much that he's taken along on a car ride. The nanpa guy Roy brings them to a forbidden area infected by virus and attempts a rape. The cousins flee from the car and get lost in the forest where they eventually meet mutants and the real story begins. But forest part of the game does not really last long and 6 chapters out of 8 take place at Aristo-city upon their return. In order not to spoil much I'll only say that their return does not really happen smoothly and that the laboratory under the city holds all of its secrets (same as in Gao Gao 3rd and 4th, actually - so it's hardly a spoiler). I actually hoped for a better story - not just a walk to the forest and return back with the remaining story happening in the same city. But Gao Gao series is characterized by some facilities investigations in a company and that's presented here in full volume. Moreover, first two chapters were too boring thanks to featuring only two failure protagonists. But as more characters come to stage the flow gets its usual pace and the game becomes a worthy species of the series.
CG: As usual, all the full-screen pictures are reserved for HCG which are rather uneven. But half-screen CG are very nice, yet as usual reserved only for event scenes.
Sound: Great! But I actually think that Gao Gao 3rd inherited too many melodies from this game.
Themes: It's not really a theme, but a complaint over the plot. At some point we get to know that virus is already extinguished and the governing circles just conceal this information as it's convenient to govern the isolated communities under the domes. But in Gao Gao 3rd and 4th we get a different picture as humanity is eliminated save for very small nucleus communities. And whatever the explanations for that are, I still see a contradiction here. Such big cities as Aristo-city can't just vanish over couple hundred years. The only answer to that might be reproduction problems, but Canaan protagonist human boy Kite was born in the vault without problems, so I doubt that's the case.
Overall comments: So it's the weakest game in the series, but does it mean it's bad? I consider Gao Gao series to be the best visual novel series in the whole pre-Windows period. Thus Pandora no Mori surpasses a vast majority of pc-98 era games. And it holds much value for the fan of this series. First of all - most of jokes that keep repeating through following games are originated here (like in example "Information is transferred to the central host" "Oh, host is a man who is dating women!"). Here we finally get to know the origins of the mermaid story that goes through 3rd and 4th games. There are a lot of other symbols that get into following games (like Laila comes to a computer and exclaims that it's strange that it has not broken down after her approaching - and that theme repeats a lot for Ilia).
Izuna Zanshinken is VN of October. But I also see merit in Midori no Umi . Zen and Micchi promote these two games as well while also picking Renai 0 Kilometer and some fandisc.

But the school grounds become a strange amusement park at night. Will they be able to find the magic book and dispel the curse?
Game is relaxing and of B class. That's all you need to know about this one.

R-15 is about a boy, Taketo Akutagawa, who attends a school for geniuses: Inspiration Academy Private High School. Taketo is a genius novelist and writes erotica. Despite negative perceptions many people have of him, he aims to be at the top of his class and be recognized as the world's greatest writer.
This game mixes visual novel segments with interactive minigames where the player touches the girls.
Such games are very important as rock bottom for assessment in comparison.

Kyuu and Nanami are childhood friends and they’re both members of the occult club in school, although Nanami is more interested in it than Kyuu. On day, the club’s chairman Saeko tells them that there’s a really good second-hand shop which might have some occult items in it. The visit the shop and Nanami ends up buying a book called “Grimorium Verum” which apparently allows the reader to summon Satan. On the night of the full moon, Nanami tries to perform the ceremony to call the devil and she actually manages it. The figure that appears calls itself Mephistopheles and says that in exchange for Nanami’s soul, he will give her great power. Kyuu tries to protect Nanami and obstructs the ceremony, however, he is thrown onto the ground and Mephistopheles announces that his contract is complete and that both Nanami and Kyuu are now “contractors” but they have to fight together.
Battle scenes and bloodiness fascinate, but enemies are poorly done and development is similar for all individual routes. For this reason there's no meaning in playing more than one main heroine Nanami route. Scenario gaps and low production values prevent this game from being something bigger.

In the middle of the forest, there is a beautiful lake and a spacious western-style building where 12 people lived. They had all lost their memories and woke up to find themselves in this place. With many books in the library, instruments in the music room and absolutely no troubles, it is like a paradise for the residents. Even if they wanted to leave, they can’t because it is surrounded by a sea of trees and darkness. No one has been known to have successfully left. Then, one of the boys disappeared and Kai gradually remembers his past. He wants to find out why he is here, but is warned against doing so. What would happen if he regains his memories?

Foreword: Game had already couple reviews, but those weren't too specific on the story, so I had to check it out myself in the end.

Difficulty: That happens to be the main part of review. FM Towns/PCE version is perfect with difficulty level low, full voicing and nice interface. The PC-98 version is gamer's hell, but only this version is hookable, so I proceeded with it. It's the fullest version having extra parts the other versions don't have, but pc-98 version has clunky interface of multiple windows that keep jumping all over and horrible mechanics that demand multiple clicking on the same commands to proceed with the game. That much useless clicking forces to miss on important parts as well. And there was a pitch moment in the second branch that made me waste two more hours on clicking through every room and searching for capture information which did not really help me, so only bruteforce clicking through every possible variant in each room only helped.
Synopsis: 3x3 Eyes ~Sanjiyan Henjou~ is based on the manga and anime series 3x3 Eyes. Pai, a young girl from the immortal tribe of sanzhiyan, three-eyed demons of Chinese origin, wants to become a human again. She meets a Japanese teenager named Yakumo Fujii, whom she accidentally turns into a "wu", an immortal obedient servant of a three-eyed demon. Together, Pai and Yakumo try to regain their lost humanity.
This game can be considered a side-story to the series. The player does not control Yakumo, but an ordinary high-school student named Kenichi Yamamoto. Accidentally, Kenichi comes into contact with the world of demons, and now he needs the help of Pai and Yakumo to be freed.

Rating comments: I actually expected more from the story and hoped for more gore. The characters only get interesting in voiced version and in PC-98 not so much. PC-98 version is so horrible that it's a miracle I made it to the end.
Protagonist: Kenichi Yamamoto does not really give a good impression. Pretty normal one for a fantasy story - positive, brave, curious etc.
Characters: Pai is a cheerful girl who happens to have her own secret. She and Yakumo don't really play an important role in the story - they just tag along and support. Sujin is the main heroine and love interest of Kenichi. She's a mysterious blonde with some superpowers and her true aims aren't clear. All the other characters get mixed in the swarm of children who get caught up in the blizzard and they go out of the stage more or less together at one point.
Story: Kenichi Yamamoto just happens to have some bug crawl inside his forehead - there's no story behind it - it just happens. And at the same time strange persons start to find him interesting and some supernatural events start to occur around him. He and a swarm of other children get caught up in the blizzard and find shelter in a wooden house. However, a murder happens and panic rises with part of children leaving to find the way out of the blizzard. And both parties get attacked by the killer. And the battle finally shows who is the enemy and who is the real friend. From then on the main heroes seek the way to get the bug out of Kenichi body and for that seek advice from a specialist researcher and from then on seek for the remedy in different parts of the world.
CG: CG are shown in a small window. That looks awful.
Sound: PC-98 has horrible sound support. No sounds - just BGM. And those BGM aren't always suitable for the event on the screen - it can easily be a merry tune during a sad event.
Overall comments: So the game starts with the longest clicking sessions and slowest progression ever. It would be easy to fall asleep for several times if you did not need to click furiously for 100 clicks per minute. Then there goes the short action part where the things settle - and it's the best part of the game. The second half of the game of searching around the world just does not have much in the story department - it's just defeating several lackeys of a bad guy and finally meeting the bad guy. And to make life more difficult there are two mazes implemented - one for each branching. I've only found the basic branching that actually coincides in the same story in the final part of the game. There should actually be a way to get the second naked body scene and even another ending. So it all comes to a poor conclusion - PCE version can't be read since it's not hookable and PC-98 version lacks the interest to be read attentively due to horrible mechanics. I would call the story eclectic since there is not much explanation for actions - like professor is lost and noone cares since there is little time left till mutation or like the light is blown out and four people can't find each other in a narrow corridor and just go separately without really trying to get together. There are some minor events that I fail to get the meaning of. So the main definition for PC-98 version is torture - both story-wise, mechanic-wise and even sound-wise. Quite a short story that would fit in a 40-minutes OVA is stretched mercilessly to 6+ hours of unsatisfying gameplay.
Hakuchuumu no Aojashin is the clear winner in September.

The cast all get cursed with personality-reverse. Darkness turns into a sadistic queen, Megumin turns into a lolita and starts a Lolita Alliance, and Aqua turns into an actual goddess-like person. The characters will need to make and wear specific clothes with the tablet to break the curse. It’s a game where you can enjoy typical comedy situations of KonoSuba along with the cast acting out of character and wearing different costumes. Hence the Japanese subtitle, which can be translated to “Love For the Costumes of Desires".

Youta was once saved by Touko when he was young, and he decided to live with her in the mansion after his grandmother was hospitalized, leaving him all alone. They were joined by Touko’s friend Mion, the class rep Yoru, and their eccentric classmate Izuru. He felt that it was a pleasant life, cooking together, chatting about random things and having the occasional argument.
But who is the true culprit? And why did Touko confess to the crime? Can the caged girl be saved?
Cabbit is a unique brand that specializes in mystery. And in this regard game disappoints as mystery is half scam and does not come even close to Hakoniwa Logic. Only main heroine has resemblance of story. But if you look at it as a harem cohabitation game, it's decent among its rivals as does not fall into degeneracy.
