Man am I the only one that liked Kotori?  I love her personality.  Plus her route was the best with a nice plot twist and imo had the most emotion.
I know people wouldn't agree with me here, but I thought Lucia route was the worst.  I might be biased also because I don't like what they did with her character.  Just found it too unrealistic to just forgive her after she killed thousands of innocent people and attempted to kill the protagonist.  I mean how can you just be owells about all that.

If we're talking about a Hentai VN, a pervy protagonist is preferable, just makes more sense. They can sometimes be over-the-top (like Rance) but that's fine as long as it matches the tone of the rest of the game. I suppose in a more romantic Hentai VN, a more "normal" protag would be better (I don't play those games though, so IDK).
I HATE the beta protagonist we typically get in VN's/Anime/Manga. I'm so tired of scenes with the protag brushing up against a girls breast and having a mental breakdown or the indirect kissing nonsense, among many other annoying tropes associated with that type of character.

For Rance you have to understand that he's suppose to be ridiculous.  It's a comedy and you shouldn't take it to heart.  The dude will literally save the world or destroy it for pussy.
I usually don't like over the top perv characters, but Alicesoft some how created a likeable character... at least to me.  I never laughed at a characters antics more than I have to Rance.  Guy is the biggest asshole, who acts like a man child, and has sex on his mind all the time.
He's basically the opposite of a typical anime hero and I love it.

Go with Kara no Shoujo first.  It really gets you in the mood to be a detective.

It's the same people as the ones who buy shitty games or watch shitty movies just to say, "OH MAN THAT WAS SO AWFUL."  on social media or some other crap.
By doing that you're promoting more garbage to come out.

I thought the bully route was kinda annoying.  Like i felt it's forced way too much.
I like the cat girl though.  The whole time I kept wondering is this really some magical girl, or just some crazy as girl.  It's kind of dreary in that your never sure and it makes you feel bad for her state of mind.   She keeps insisting she wants to go back to her world, but all evidence points to that shes just a normal girl.  The protagonist seems to juggle whether to appeal to her dream world or get her help.
