  1. I didn't read it, so take it with a pinch of salt, but the synopsis of Cross Channel is a school for people having difficulties to get into social life.

I've read it, it's centered around school... But, its not normal school stuff happening, I would go as far to say it's not a school setting, it just that it happens on a school.

Awesome vn though, I gave it a 9 on VNDB. :D A must read.

I don't think anything is wrong with the people in the vn, they are completely normal.. I found similarities with the protagonist, with myself, simlarly like in "a drug that makes you dream" protagonist which in it self is kinda disturbing.... lol.

  2. If anyone has features, books, articles, films or documentary to share about gender policies in japan, I would be glad to get them :D.

There was a few short documentaries about japan which I found interesting. Here: http://torrentz.eu/a88ed55e1c9eea29be37d21c1147621cb34614b1 I think this one was that had about sex in japan. There is alot other stuff too, so you should ctrl+A mark the files the torrent want to download and "dont download" select everything. Then just select the ones about japan and download the ones you want. Friggin 137 GB lol. Would take months otherwise.

  3. For Ryoji on how to skip H-Scenes:

Holding down the Ctrl key should help speed through the text in those scenes too. I do it alot myself!

Yup, that will save you from alot of frustration, the left side ctrl is universal for most if not all vn's as skip text. I do it alot in the H-Scenes.

On the subject on sexism, there is very often the most natural thing in the world that the protagonist should protect the girls as they are helpless themself.

That seems to be abit intigrated into the japanese society. The man is the dominant person, strict traditions are still eminent in japan. About this being wrong or not I would say wrong. But I am from the west, of course I would say that. It being right or not is another thing..

I saw a documentary about sexuality in japan some time ago, about how it is different from the west etc. Much more free, you guys should know what I mean. One thing in it puzzled me, there was a interview of a westerner who was a turist the for a few months. He could talk japanese and such. He experienced when he had sex with natives, that they would be submissve and say like stop, not there etc. But the meant the opposite, they wanted him to dominate them.

I would take that docomentry with a grain of salt, but it did make sense imo.

  4. I started the anime. I have to admit I hate it. That being said ive just downloaded the game as I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Tho I have to admit im hesitant, because i wanna like it. The anime just COMPLETELY turned me off.

Sigh not sure what to do. Cant get the stupitity of the anime out of my mind. Should of known better to watch the anime first.

    What do you guys think?

I know Little Busters is a lot of you guys favorite VN. Thats why I wanted to play it. Just the anime really left a bad impression. Im not badmouthing LB. Please understand that.

Truth be told I didn't like the anime either. The vn is alot better.

To make you avoid ruining the vn, I would put it off. Then read it at a later time. So I would just pick another VN for now, many to pick from~ Then try LB a 1-3weeks later.

IMHO that's the best way, I wouldn't rush reading it if the anime image would ruin it! I would wipe my memory of it each time I finished it, if I could. That way I could reread it in its full glory forever. Well that was kinda exaggerating it but whatever...

  5. Just completed Muv luv alt. 0_0 Completed the game in 10 days, I gotto say that's pretty damn impressive lol. I'll give the game 10/10 on vndb. Man this game is epic. Holy shit. So epic it takes all my free time, thats like... Friggin G senjou no maou my first Vn epic. I do not reccommend other to read it, it will take all your free time. STAY AWAY!!!

I'm like in awe, of the awesomeness.... So epic... O_o man... dude... tripping out.... omhgbbq........ *_*

  6. Have fun, this game is really good. I started a few weeks ago, I reached Muv unlimited. Will complete that soon, then start with MLA.

Later the game becomes more action, drama, but still lots of comedy. Really this is one of the most epic VN's there is!

Hm, you don't HAVE to play it, but seeing as it is a sequel to unlimited, it stands to reason you should play the prequel first right? My personal recommendation is to read and finish through all (that's right, ALL) routes in extra, as well as unlimited before jumping to Alternative. It really enhances the experience since unlike many VN, those routes matter, believe me (I won't spoil anything for you though).Just as Moekou said, playing the other two first will really builds characterization as well as setting of the story. You will get some references that you might not have gotten as well.Incidentally, I've played kimi ga nozomu eien and rumbling hearts as well as akane maniax before muvluv, so I pretty much got all of the references and cameo appearances that happened in muvluv. This is why I love age and their VN in how they are all in the same timeline

Whaaaaat, the translator Ixrec said the side rutes were horrible and the unlimited rutes were all essentially the same. I don't see a reason to drag yourself through them when you don't need to. The two main rutes in MVE is sugary enough of moe for me, gonna get diabetes if I took the side rutes too.

  7. Completed Dishonored. Damn this game was friggin awesome, I played it on very hard. Knocking out people as needed and sneaking past most of them.

The game is pretty easy though, you can complete it as you like rambo, non lethal, etc. Best ending is by not killing too many, just kill the major targets and so on. Pretty happy how my choices made the ending.

There is sooo many ways you can complete the game, they really put much though into it.

I'm going to complete the game without any powerups and on very hard in a few months time, as then I have likely forgot how much of the game was. I'll only use autosaves too.

I reccommend the game, its was epic, I score it 94/100 imo.

  8. Adult Video King sounds incredibly crazy and amazing in all the right ways, although I doubt that will ever get translated so I might as well learn Japanese so I can play it. Figu@mate is another one of those weird games that I would love to play someday.

Since I personally think most anime based on games are garbage (because they are always short and never can make any progress or pick a heroine that I just absolutely loathe), it would be nice to see some of those get translated. Examples would be "They Are My Noble Masters", "Do Love Me Seriously!" (I know its being translated but very slowly), and "Final Approach" (no sexual content) are just some that I would love to play.

Adult Video king sounds very funny! You guys should read the Vndb summary.

reading japanese seems like the only choice lol, well maybe in a year... I could try.

  9. I don't really get the dislike for Muv-Luv. If you switch off your higher brain functions you can get a pretty good laugh out of it, just remember to turn it back on for Alternative. On the other hand Steins;Gate is what's really melting my brain. Muv-Luv compartmentalised the silliness very well, it doesn't sabotage the serious parts of the story (in fact i think it made an excellent prologue) whereas this is just painful. Important story moments come up, and suddenly the whole mood is ruined by Okarin's nonsense. For the first time ever i'm seriously considering dropping a VN because it's so bad. It's only my OCD to always finish a story i start that keeps me going.

I am not afraid, cos I have trained myself.

I am the bone of my moe.

Herp is my brain, derp is my blood

I have listened to over a thousand moe jokes.

    Unknown to lower back pain

    Nor known to eye pain.

Have withstood pain to play too many vn's

Yet these hands shall never hold anything

I have no regrets, so I pray Unlimited Moe Works!!!

    (Best reality marble ever)

Steins;gate is one of my favorite vn's.. Well each has one's own taste I guess. I have to complete a vn when I start one too attitude, not always such a good idea though, lol.

@Tay, thaat makes alot more sense, lol. I don't know much about US, but in my country most people who use mac's dont play games. They are more like, mac is easy and is friggin hipster. I have kinda a bis agianst it, haaa. Also people who choose mac's are more mainstream, wouldn't they be even less likely to be intrested in vn's?

Well that's just my opinion. (I need to stop posting so late.. Not thinking straight.)

  10. @Luna - And thus it begins... Macs are definitely the next frontier for VNs. I use an iPad for my work at a hospital as well as personal use, but iOS is as far into the mac realm as I've ever traveled. I've always wanted to learn more, tho, and help with accessibility.

In my mind, because VNs as a whole enjoy low spec-requirements, they may make good candidates for games to be played on a win emulator. Do you use any of the windows emulators out there? Do you have any workarounds for playing Win games on a mac?

I have did the reverse som time ago, I installed a virutal workstation. On that I would emulate mac OS, worked fine. It's slower as expected, but quite useble on a good computer.

You could do the same with windows, emm, not sure if the software I used is useble on Mac though.

If you have a tablet, it may be possible to install windows 8 on it. Then install vn's on it... I maybe talking bull here, I don't know much about windows 8 lol. Though I know of people who have installed Linux on their android tablets. So it "should" be possible.

Macs are definitely the next frontier for VNs.

Tay, there are other tablets than Apple's you know. I am guessing you meant tablets, as macintosh OS isin't really better or worse suited for vn's.

  11. I'm planning to pick this up after i finish Steins;Gate, which will probably be within the next 2 weeks. In fact i may actually start playing the first few chapters as breaks because Okarin is getting on my nerves with his raving madness. So what route order would be recommended? I generally like to plan out my playthroughs of VNs in advance, but internet is failing to deliver for some reason and i'm trying my best to avoid spoilers.

Okabe isin't mad, he is very nice. If he's mad I am a sociopath! (Maybe I am..... Nah.. I do wonder sometimes though..)

Just as with all Key titles there is a true end, (well mostly anyway) you gotto do all rutes. I don't think you will need a guide, start with Rin's rute, then do Komari I guess, afterwards do whatever. You'll understand more after a few rutes, really love that game too, so have fun if you choose it.

  12. Going to read this with Translation Aggregator/JParser/MeCab "soonish" So actully this made me sad face. Thought I would read an untranslated VN. Ah well I can't have everything I guess.

REtrans International you think this is a good Vn to start to read with? (I can only read kanji, kana's and understand quite much talking 'audio') Somewhat simple word use?

  13. I hope they don't I have made a pledge to eat it once in my life, regardless of how it smells and it's supposed taste...

:D We got alot of swedish jokes here, as alot of them come to work here. Dane's should keep off, we have the rights to the swe jokes!

Funny you should mention that, as I have obiously not driven over the border just this year to by cheap alcohol and loads of soda can's as the car could carry. It would be even less liekly that I bought more alcohol than it is premitted and say "Fuck yeah!" when I crossed the border without getting checked.

    I love them swedes.

  14. Why all the mean norwegian jokes :( We never ever say anything bad about our great neighbor Sweden. We just prefer to bath in our oil in peace and not eat Surströmming at our past time.

Yeah I am from Norway. :P How could you guess that :D

    Again welcome to the forums!

  15. Had a feeling you would post about SAO after you watched the 14'th episode Tay, haahah. Too epic!

I find it still very exciting to watch the anime even after reading the Novels. Hehe I wonder how they will portrey the continuation. It is really amazing how well the anime is adapted.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Been a while since I have laughed from an anime, but this one really does it with it's stupid humor going on and on. Though the last episodes of season 1 was getting more serious, that kinda runined the end for me. Didin't laugh much, ah well the rest was very good :D

  16. Time to insert friendly neighbor jokes.

A Swede was walking down the street with a duck under his arm.

    - "Where did you find that monkey?" asked the fellow pedestrian.

    - "It happens to be a duck." claimed the Swede.

    - "Shut up, Swede! I am talking to the duck."

What is the difference between Swedes and Norwegians?

A: The Swedes have nice neighbours!

Two men were sitting on a bench in a park. One of them was drunk, and the other was also Swedish!

A Swede was asked if he had lived in Stockholm all his life. "Not yet," he answered.

  17. I am reading a lot of VNs at the same time as well. I try to read a different VN every night. I will read Katawa Shoujo on Monday night, read MGITP Tuesday Night, read Kamidori Wednesay ETC. It makes getting through VNs especially the longer ones slow going but at the same time it lets me savior them and gives me something to look forward to.

  18. I have played it.. Completed Putina's rute. I stopped after that, it's the only VN I have played and not finished and I never will. I was fun and stuff for the first hours so on. BUT JESUS! I like moe and jokes etc but it is all it is, again again again, the same jokes all the time. I can't friggin fathom why people say it's so good, one thing I am sure of now. I'll rather read reviews and look at score lists than listen to random reccommodations from now on.

Well I guess it's a good VN if you read it in bits, I always read only one at a time(Not mutiple VN's). So you may not get stark raving mad and scream NEIN NEIN NEIN, if you do it that way...
