Cuz it's an abomination. Apart from Australians, who are crazy about "contrasts", people with common sense and decency know that some tastes and styles just don't mix together. And so, tainting the delicious pizza or the fabulous pineapple by forcing them together, tastes that clash horribly, you commit a terrible sacrilege which, under a more fair rule, would be punished by at least 10 public lashes.

Pleb probably doesn't even put BBQ sauce on their pizza. :makina:

  2. My opinion is this.

Is the censorship a CHOICE or a NEED.

Let me explain. Some companies must "Censor" their games due to countries own terms. Japan has much more lenient rules about things such as nudity and scenarios then NA or Europe does. As such, if a game has things that go against their rules, a company must make changes in order to sell it.

Criminal girls is an example of a game that passed in Japan but needed editing to be able to be released in NA. Other games have had this happen as well. To get through things such as ESRB Changes must be made.

These games I do not boycott.

However games where there was a decision to change things such as story, scenes, interpretations due to society is something that I do boycott. Take Fire Emblem Fates for instance, huge cutting of scenes and script changes were made for, literally, no reason.

    These games I do boycott.

In regards to VN's, most of the time it's a decision due to selling on a platform and to sell to the max number of people. Those who are interested in an uncensored version can usually find patches. And most of the times the companies don't care. If they were actively against those things they would try to take down that stuff to keep it "Censored."

I imagine that an official Sengoku Rance localization will be incoming, which is a bit of a bummer for those who have already played it to death and want something new from alicesoft.

I have played it to death, but i want other people who haven't played it to play it and who knows i might even replay it.

  4. I myself am just waiting for rance. Or the future sci-fi one from alice soft :D it made the lift.

I dono if DM gets made my fiance would buy it but pretty much anything else Nitro+chiral makes she would buy.

Oh and FSN for my vita come fucking on people get that shit done, i've been waiting almost a fucking decade for this...

I'm amazed you find it so unbelievable that a company could delay a release to wait until the second release is ready.  Do you realize Seinarukana was originally released in 2007, announced in 2011, and released in English in 2016?  They could've easily waited 10 more months and released it in 2017 instead, with not much difference in the overall time scale.

Although perhaps you're right--JAST doesn't appear to put much thought into the timing of its releases.  They just release when the games are done, typically with no fanfare and to the surprise of even those who keep tabs on them like me.  The Steam release itself appears to have been a last-minute sort of decision as they were preparing the adult version for release.

From what I know the steam release was WAY WAY WAY later than the hardcopy release I got from their site. From what i remember they had the All Ages version done but wanted to release Aselia and this game close to each other. So they waited until Aselia was released on steam, then waited a bit more and released this on steam. The hardcopy on the other hand was done prior to both of these.

A large segment of the potential audience for this game on Steam doesn't a give a damn about JAST or VNs.  They have a set of expectations that must be met or they'll just hit the back button.  'Price' is one.  'No perceived censorship' is another.  Not to mention that JAST lacks universal payment options that it would make it easy for people in certain regions, such as Brazil, to purchase their games.

Peter Payne has actually commented on this issue previously.  His comments might surprise you.

Entirely agree. If i fucking SMELL censorship i will boycotte games entirely if no given reason is found. Some companies that go "Look we can't get away with some of this shit in NA that is fine here so we gotta get around it by censoring things" is understandable. In this particular case I can get the real shit elseware. But for many Nintendo games where it's "Dialogue cut for no reason other than perceived 'well our audience is immature and can't handle mature things so remove it'" makes it a no buy.

Cost is also an issue. In terms of VN's i support them fully so i pay full amounts but AAA games? HAH never unless they are under 50% hence why i never bought GTA5 yet...except DOOM...doom is an exception.

Visual novel hacker, you want an extraction tool, I would start looking up like Bgm extraction tool for visual novels or CG extraction tool or just straight up Visual novel extraction tool

If i remember correctly don't these only work for specific engines they were designed for? In this case his question on a hacker in general is more appropriate then gathering tools for a VN he might not even be able to use them for.

  8. It's basically how large the library is. The main issue with the vita is that in the beginning it's library consisted of a handful of vita games and the PSX compatibility wasn't there. Later it came buy giving it a great boost but it wasn't until a few years that the vita took off in terms of the library.

Add to this the fact that people aren't going to get a big memory card if the library isn't big = no vita at all. I had one in the beginning cause of the promise of PSX support which didn't come AT FIRST and as such i was on an 8gb for a long time. It wasn't until a few years ago i switched to a 64gb due to the amount I play it now.

But you are right, it targets a niche, and if you are in that niche the games are fantastic, otherwise stick with the DS for portable games.

  9. The vita, regardless of the support being dropped, is still the console I use the most. I commute 4 hours a day and it's perfect to literally play 4 hours of games a day. Plus the games on it aren't that bad. I mean Soul Sacrifice was fucking amazing (Delta helped it get that way), among many other games and the ability to play PSX games which is why i bought it originally. That OLED Screen is great.

Honestly what killed the console is, hands down, the stupid decision from sony to sell the memory cards at ass raping prices. Everyone i know who didn't get the console said it was solely because they didn't want to fork another 100$ on the memory card.

  10. Gotta understand 2 things about. First is that VN's will always be better on the vita than a ps4. Who the fuck wants to play a VN on the TV? If i could port all my VN's from my computer over to my Vita I would. I pretty much buy almost every VN released on the vita easily. Perfect example is Steins;Gate, never bought the ps3 or PC version. And I waited until the official vita release and I have 2 copies both digital and physical. Same with Steins;Gate 0.

In this case however I never purchased Root Letter.

Another thing is that Vita owners are usually pretty spend happy. They buy anything that comes out on the vita. I've got 350+ games on my playstation store and I would be willing to put money that 300 of those are vita/psp/psx (aka playable on the vita) games. Pretty much anyone i know with a vita is the same way.

The scene that is being censored is the spanking scene in the first of the two games. It's a pretty incidental scene. It's the only bit of censorship Atlus is claiming the two games will have, and they're basically forced to do it to comply to standards.

Honestly I'm a huge no no on censorship for games, HOWEVER, that's for games where the publisher/company does not let us know why the fuck they are censoring whatever the fuck they are censoring. Atlus giving us an explanation and it making sense is basically all I ask for a publisher before I buy a game. I've not bought, or bought from 3'rd party as to support the 3'rd party but not the publisher, a censored game in quite awhile unless it is explained why it was censored. It isn't hard Nintendo :|

I picked this up mostly because @KosakiFag is such a big Alicesoft fan that I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about. One thing that tipped me over the edge for this release was the ability to skip all the rape scenes - which probably sounds like anathema to most of the people in this thread, but deal with it; I'm a wimp that way.

Anyway, about the game. H-scenes are fine and all, but I'd probably pick up a more straightforward nukige if that's all I was looking for. Nonetheless, I find myself playing the game for pretty long stretches (actually longer than I would a more typical VN), and the reason is of course the gameplay elements. I find I really enjoy these simple optimization problems, and I especially appreciate that the dice are fixed. I have no desire to reload over and over again to get a better dice roll, but I will happily reload once to make a better decision on what to do with the dice/points/etc. I have.

The mechanics are a little under-explained, but the only ones I didn't get yet were Libido and Brutality. Re-reading arunaru's post on the MG staff blog explained Libido quite clearly, so now I regret not pursuing raising that up higher, sooner :amane:. And I'm planning to leave Brutality at 0, so that's fine too.

I'm only on day 10 or so at this point, but it's quite a lot of fun. I'm about to attempt the first castle raid and am curious to see what that's like.

I did the same thing with libido and accidently raised it's states to a where i got a new die and that tipped me off. AliceSoft usually never explains their games so it's quite difficult in that regard.

100% agree with the rape scenes and i should have (if i didn't) included that in my review, in my early assessment of the game i did but i can't remember if i included it in my final review. I absolutely agree that this would be a great feature for many as there are quite a number who don't like rape. For the H-Scenes i felt you could get more out of it from a nukige but the gameplay element did make me go from "i'll just play for an hour" to 8 hours :|

For the die, that was my recommendation to a lot of people, instead of trying to get a new roll, instead use that knowledge to make your plans more efficient.

My Brutality is like...5 or something cause of the torture scenes that you CAN do... :D

I would recommend you TRAIN one girl (you can train the others when you have time and resources), and use another one for clearing dungeons quickly. Have one of them have an ability for skipping traps or people for instance? I know this helped me greatly on my first run.

  13. From what I have seen, most Kainin scenes with males net you rape scenes on loss (which you can skip) and most female Kainin when you defeat you can then do H-Scenes with them later using Libido option. But yeah, to unlock the scenes you just need to proceed further into the game. You will get some event usually with said girl and have the option of raising affection, peace, or unlocking Dragon Synergy. Similarly, i believe, some scenes net you conversations with more than one girl and the Dragon Synergy scenes you unlock depend on the girl you choose in these particular dialogue events.

AliceSoft usually makes there games based on events, so don't worry if some person has events before one day while you never got it. They have event rankings, which means depending on what you do, those events could just be pushed back and will eventually happen. Similarly if you don't do any major events, less priority events will show up more frequently (assuming further events are not their trigger in the first place).

For shits and giggles I decided to give this game a quick spin. I don't think I'm going to finish it or anything, I just wanted to see what it was. How do you unlock more dragon synergy options? After 10 days I only have the first three for Haruka and Narika.

You can't. The dice order is set in stone. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it was the same dice order for everyone and if there is no random element at all. Either way, it's clear that there's no way to save scum the dice, outside of trying to find more optimal uses for them and to minimize wasting dice, by spending them on more efficient tasks.

    1) You must continue in the game, you will come across dialogue choices at points that will have things like "Peace, Love, More-H Scenes". Pick the H-Scenes and on the next phase you should have unlocked DS options.

    2) They are not set in stone, they merely are chosen based on the die you have at the moment. It is a tiresome thing to try and change it however (i have done so but it's is random and troublesome to go back enough to get them to change). Instead, use the knowledge that you know EXACTLY how much you will get to reload the game and do those events that you get on the dot or close to the number. This lets you take full effect of the Die. Ex, instead of doing an event that takes 15 and you willed a 20, do an event that would need a 20. Or if you roll a 9 but you know training will cost 6, instead of wasting the 9 on an event, do the training, keep the 3, and use that three with either more die or to battle again that night.

now im at day 3, i get a 12 in FOUR DICE.

since i dont like the outcome i want to change the dice. tried reloading, another reloading 1 day before and even exiting and entering but didnt change the outcome of the dice.

any ideas how to change the dice, the outcome didnt change?

Read above. You can't EASILY change the die, the moment you GET that die for a certain time in the future, your die is locked. You need to either go far back enough to get it to randomize itself (it happens). Or throw the game on a loop by either using too much die before hand or getting more die before hand. This will help "randomize" your future die. But it's so much trouble that i suggest instead, in your case for example, use the 12 on an even that costs 12 or for training. Don't waste the numbers unless you are sure you can.
