  1. Don't romance games include routes for different tastes? I've never found a moege where I liked every route equally. For example, "Period" by Littlewitch has 8 heroines, but the routes vary greatly in quality and interest. There's filler and some are uninspired, and the trend is common in this type of game. I'd say the ideal number of heroines to have a chance of all them being good is between 3 and 5. Heck, I don't even like equally all the routes in Kanon, and they share a common background.

Also there's the tropes and character archetypes, these tend to be repeated over games, and there's also the deconstructed tropes. And in a game with lots of heroines, probably there's lots of writers, which influences cohesion and immersion and not in a good way.

  2. VNs generally appeal to people keen on anime (because of the art used), and are destined to the people with the time to play them and try a lot of them. Common people with job, family, and other burdens don't even find the time to game or read a regular book, so they're pretty forfeit for this market. As for the art, there could be other different styles, but by now VNs are largely associated with anime.

I used to be in the tabletop RPG crowd, and VNs are something completely different, but in the end it's telling a story you can enjoy. Since VNs only require having a medium to run them and no preparation, unlike RPGs, they can be a nice 1-player experience without having to coordinate multiple people; thus D&D and most RPGs are pretty dead, and VNs are a growing thing. I know I should be playing MMOs but for some reason they don't appeal to me.

I wonder if Game of Thrones would make for an awesome visual novel?

No it wouldn't, and it would be 1000 hours long.

As far as OELVN go, I liked very much "Sepia Tears", a well written, simple one, without convoluted or haggard ideas or gimmicks. Just the simple kind of thing that works. Not groundbreaking, but who cares? Myra = my waifu.

  4. So far, my favorite are Little Busters' (S. T.), and Kira * Kira (S. T. also).

Anything by Key or Overdrive is bound to have good music, especially if you like rock'n'roll like me.

Also why not, this song is perfect for its game, and very beautiful:

  5. I'm late for this.

Steam is yet another option for the gamer, yes, but it's one of the main ones. It's kinda convenient as it's pretty easy to navigate games similar to the ones you got in your library, it does so automatically. I think that the biggest advantage of Steam is the sales. The biggest downside, the censorship for the 18+ works.

Some of these writers seriously needs to get their heads checked. I had the same thought about Canvas 2. You bang Tomoko on her hospital bed when she's recovering from an attack from a heart disease where an elevated heart rate can kill her, or something along those lines. Truly fucking stupid placement for a h scene.

Nah, it's just the urge to cram H scenes in there, mandatorily. It's just lazy and ultimately off-putting. It should make sense that not every route demands an H scene, but then the fans would complain about "discriminating X character".

BUT KEY H SCENES ARE SHIT WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF

Pretty much, but for some strange reason, I was finding the thought of doing Kud (in Kud's Wafter) amusing.

Also I think some other characters from LB appear (Kanata?) as well as new ones. Damn, Riki doesn't get bored.

Kud Wafter has the benefit of LB's popularity, so it may get translated at some point.

Why not have redhead sisters as your fetish? I believe I know a good one.

The next best thing is a redhead osananajimi (childhood friend):

Kanade Sakurai from Deardrops (coulda picked a more original name for her)

  9. On a different note, there's the Disney comics loved throughout the globe, I think that in Italy they dig that stuff. May be too childish for you though. I'm talking of Donald Duck and the rest of the very well known characters.

Marvel and DC too, but with a distinct feel you may not like.

Comic books, especially European ones, have good entries but they lack a cohesion as a whole, they're very diverse.

With animation, the 80s and early 90s were like the golden era of Western animation, with nice things as My Little Pony, Wildfire, Pirates of Dark Water, Space Rangers, and in the French department Ulysses 31, Jayce et les conquerants de la lumière and then some more. Nowadays you may want to take a look at Adventure Time or Regular Show.
