  1. I reached the arena and abysmal platformer skills are finally starting to fail me. I already had to swallow my pride and use potions on the Death fight. I'll probably still finish it, after lots of grinding and dying.

It's still really fun, but man I am bad at these games.

  2. I'd totally be down for a few activities/challenges.

No perks Bard on the hardest difficulty (Maniac-Grueling) sounds like fun. :holo:

I've done some pretty masochist stuff in video games, but sounds just painful.

Maybe we should start easy, like go with distance race. FUWA4LYF seems to be a pretty good seed.

  3. Issat so? I never really felt that way when I watched it. Then again, after episode 10 I kinda put it on hold cuz I really got bored of the whole thing. I've still got a saved link for it, but nothing much really compels me to watch it..

The first half is't that great, it feels kind of generic. But it's much better after that. The story gets more serious and the relationships between characters are more fleshed out.

  4. I just finished Eureka Seven and just woah... The last 10 episodes captivated me completely. I was constantly either grinning, shedding manly tears or going awww, sometimes all at the same time.

It still bugs me that they don't explain some of the terminology they use.

Now the problem is, that after such experience it's hard to start watching something else.

I accidentally found this today. Apparently somebody did gender bending visual novel adaptation of Dark Souls. I managed to find the first part, it's playable and kinda fun, they even ripped the Angel Beats ED for the ending.

But since nobody credits the sources on internet, I have no idea who did this project and if there's more of it.

  6. Aria of Sorrow is pretty fun, but I got stuck at a boss.

That Grim Reaper. The first phase is okay, but the second form deals way too much damage and it's really hard to hit the boss and and not get touched by that giant scythe.

Maybe I'll just farm some levels and get better armor.

I like metroidvanias as long as the path you need to go is fairly clear, but it gets frustrating when you have to backtrack to a small area to unlock a other small area. Luckily Aria of Sorrow hasn't done that too much.

  7. When I was little I had a fucking gorrilion stuffed animals of all sizes ranging from the tiny ones you could get in a crane game to one that was like 40 cm tall. Had to get rid of most of them when we moved to Canada though, but a few of the bigger ones are still somewhere at home in Russia. I did however bring one of them here, a stuffed dog I got for my 6th birthday. I still hug him to sleep every night because I'm so lonely

I can't sleep with my bunny because it would probably break, but I have a big seal and my dad's old bear hanging around on my bed. The seal is very comfy for sleeping, like mini hug pillow.

  8. First character in original dark souls 2 was a classic 1h sword´n board heavy armor type. Played with that through the first Newgame.

For scholar of sin I decided to go for light armor and spear / halberd with a light shield, since armor doesn´t mean much anyway. Halfway through first Playthrough currently.

Maybe I´ll try 2h no armor someday. Though this game is sadistic enough already . .

I barely looked into mage-stuff so far, so that´s also up for later.

    Your favorites?

I like to go without shields and using light weapons like spears and normal swords, sometimes with a little pyromancy to cheese the most annoying enemies. Toxic mist is super handy.

Bosses became so much more satisfying and intense when you have to dodge everything. It doesn't work that well against enemy hordes, but it's still pretty fun. If only you could do cartwheels in DS2 like in the first one...

  9. Dark Souls 2, Scholar of Sin edition

This game makes me want to throw my controller against the wall, yet it is so insanely addicting.

There are some stupid ambushs every now and then and most enemies become totally easy once you are familiar with the movesets, but that adventure-feeling where death may linger behind every corner is too good.

    It also looks epic!

Dark Souls 2 is awesome indeed, especially the DLC areas. Which kind of character are you playing? A mage, Fat rolling tank with a shield or manly man with only club and a loin cloth?

  10. I cleaned up my room a bit and came up on my old stuffed animals. I absolute loved them when I was kid, I remember sleeping with a huge pile of them. So I was wondering if people here had stuffed animals and do you have any good stories about them, or if you still have your favorite stuffed animal?

Here's my most loved stuffed animal: Punni-pupu (Punni the Bunny)

I petted him so much that the fabric almost wore off from some places, hence the jumpsuit.

  11.

I've never played a Monster Hunter game myself, but the only person I know who does gives a view similar to yours - Monster Hunter 4 is apparently amazing, and is about all he plays right now.

Monster Hunter games are awesome and crazy addictive. I played Freedom Unite on PSP close to 300 hours. I got my copy just before I got the swine flu back in the day, and spent a week in my bed playing Monster Hunter.

I would probably play more monster hunter if it was on proper consoles.   :sachi:

Even thought of using A.I in P3 makes me shiver. The end game bosses are difficult enough without random actions. Unless you grind and get best personas.

  12. I actually returned my new copy.   It didn't look that good honestly and the reviews seemed bad.

I wouldn't say it's great, but it's not bad. For a full price release it's kind of lacking. The story is pretty interesting and it has bunch of great characters, but none of these are really fleshed out. Characters show up on their mission, and after that they just are with you. Episodic story progression makes it fun to play in burst, but it never goes deep enough and it lacks any meaningful conclusion.

Still I had fun with it and it has some interesting ideas, like the emotion system for conversations. The battle system is pretty solid too. It really has all the ingredients to be a great game, but they are not used properly. It feels like they had great idea, but failed to fully realize it.

  13. I played through Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters and had a blast. Now I'll just finish the stuff I didn't get and try to do character specific endings. On my first play through I managed to get "worst" ending, I didn't improve relationship points enough. Now it's time get all the girls and maybe some guys.

The game itself is kind of short and simple, but damn it is beautiful.

  14. I finally did it! I beat Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin without using shields or magic.

But it was way more difficult to do than in Dark Souls 1, since 2 likes to throw hordes of enemies at you. Especially fighting against multiple bosses at same time is frustrating. It doesn't make it necessarily harder, just more time consuming, because you have so few chances to do damage. Some the DLC bosses were super annoying, they have lingering hitboxes and delayed attacks which makes dodging hard.

It wasn't all bad, the new enemy placement was refreshing, it brings back some the charm of playing a souls game for the first time. And the winter wonderland DLC was pretty fun.

  15. whats a Agromprom? a location? a quest? a monster? I'm not really used to scary games, but I'v played enough metro to stand jump scares...I remember when I  first played metro, they would jump on me and I would freak out, hold my lmb until I had to reload...and then they killed me while I was reloading....but now I fire at everything in burst, if burst does not work, then I go auto, though I'v learned that in every FPS besides COD, there is this thing called kickback, and auto does not work at long or even medium distance

Agroprom is an area which has some of the most memorable events early in the game. Not going to tell any more than that...

  16. This part of the writing style interests me a lot. Is it like reviewing one scene in multiple perspectives? Or is it like showing you the scene again to make you come up with a different interpretation after something happened? Or is it "one of those things you can only experience and not define"?

It does all of those things. Some scenes are shown again after you understand the situation better, some are the just the same scene again with slightly different wording. And some scenes have same structure, but the meaning and contents are changed. Thematic lines and repetition of words are also used to create an atmosphere.

In terms of atmosphere, how is it? In a VN, it's one of the most important aspects to me in comparison to a novel due to how much more you can feel that world, so I like to know about it a lot.

The VN creates a mysterious atmosphere, not quite understanding what's going on. The general tone is also slightly sorrowful. But mostly it's really tranquil, the writing works wonders for that.

  17. Phenomeno is simple psychological horror story. It's enjoyable, but it's nothing special. It does have a pretty creepy atmosphere and good sound design. It's also really short, you can finish it in an evening.

Sharnoth is pretty unique. It's really beautiful, in both story and design. The writing style is kind of flowery and it repeats itself a lot, with sometimes slight differences. It works with the style the VN is going for, but it can be annoying.
