  1. So I'm just debating on whether to get Demon's Gaze, Muramasa, or Child's Light.

Or just freaking save for a 3DS. Thanks!

Muramasa is great. You can't go wrong with that.

Demon Gaze is really good Dungeon Crawler, but it's not for everyone. It's hard and requires some grinding. The biggest hurdle is whether you can enjoy the raw gameplay, going around in dungeons and beating monsters. The Dungeon design is awesome and combat is super fast, which helps a lot. The demon system is fun too. It's probably the most newcomer friendly DRPG and it's good place to start if you are interested in the genre.

The slice of life story is nice addition in top of the dungeon crawling. And the character artwork is filled with cute girls.

  2. Oh look, first person dungeon crawling.

I ordered the limited edition for art book with cute girls. Also Demon Gaze was one of my favorites last year.

The voice acting seems to be better this time around, Demon Gaze had weirdly choppy audio.

I'm not expecting anything to flawlessly execute the same gameplay that Senran Kagura had.

...Well, maybe except other games from the same publisher.

Anyway, the cute girls aren't enough to make up for its bad side?

I managed to play trough it few times with the power of main girls' cuteness, but it's not that great. (You can't have the meido D:) The story is pretty simple, but it's entertaining. Otaku jokes and such.

The problem is mostly the combat. It's boring, clunky and unnecessary difficult.

It might be worth picking up from sale.

  3. Someone killed our internet for a day so I had plenty of time to watch anime. I watched the entirety of Monogatari series second season + Hanamonogatari.

While I really like the series, it's sometimes pretty taxing to watch. The eccentric and philosophical conversations are something I enjoy, but it gets tiring in long sessions. Hanamonogatari was the worst offender, it had too much of serious talking and not enough silliness to balance it out. Long haired Araragi was pretty cool though.

Best ark was definitely Koimonogatari. I didn't like Kaiki in Nisemonogatari but this time he was much more interesting.  The banter between Kaiki and Senjougahara is absolutely delicious.

  4. Guys, i think i felt in love with the valkyria chronicles series.

After finishing the first one(damn Welkin one of the best protag i ever saw) decided to play through the second statement on the series.

50 hours after, i still hadn't finished this game.

I remember playing the Valkyria chronicles 2 nonstop for one summer week when I was visiting my grandparents and had nothing else to do. Such good games. Still I have never finished 1 or 2, because I got fed up with the annoying stuff in the final missions.

And because 2 is even better waifu simulator than the first one, the important question needs to asked. Who's the best girl/guy/couple?

    (obviously Marion)

  5. Monogatari Series is filled with words of wisdom.

"Thinking about it won't do any good. You can't choose everyone. Right, you can't be like an Italian gentleman." - Hachikuji Mayoi

"When I think about it, this is a very dreamlike situation. First off, I'm in this classroom and around me I have a girl, a young girl and a little girl. What is this place, Shangri-La?" - Araragi Koyomi

  6. I finally decided to catch up with monogatari series and watch hana- and tsukimonogatari. Then I realized that I couldn't remember clearly what was going on, I started by watching 2nd season again.

I kinda missed the shaft weirdness, eccentric conversations and Senjougahara. More so because Bakemonogatari was one the first anime I ever watched, if studio Ghibli movies doesn't count. Looking back, I have no idea why I decided to start with Bakemonogatari.

I also didn't remember that Shinobu was so cool, her way of talking is pretty amazing.

  7. I was kind of burned out after reading Majikoi so I felt like reading something short. I read Phenomeno which was nice change of pace and a good experience, but it was kind of too short. I'll just have to read the light novels next, as the game covers only one out of three.

I liked the story and it was actually kind of scary. Tension was high and I was shivering the whole time. The great soundscape helps. And the art is pretty too.

  8. I have never seen the glowy sunburned shoulders anywhere else, either, and it adds a lot; but, yeah, I think it's mostly the blush. I suppose the environment of the show is relevant, since it explains the tanned/burned look, but there are other other anime with settings that would explain a well-tanned look, but which go for completely pale - Magi, for instance. I wonder if nobody usually uses those touches because of the strong cultural aesthetic preference for very pale skin.

The preference for pale skin might be the reason for it, or it just might be the general way doing things in the industry. Anime characters tend to have very unicolor faces, with exception of turning red when embarrassed. That's why the lively colored faces stand out so much. I tried to look if I could find anything else with same style of facial drawing, but I couldn't. The character designer for Gargantia had some examples in his other works, but he's a H-manga author, so that's hardly a good reference point.

I want more natural blush in my anime...

  9. My Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters is already two weeks late, so I started playing La-Mulana again, this time on vita. I'm still impressed how it manages to be exactly what it wants to be. It's a "Ruins Exploration Archaeological action game" (as the developers call it), basically a Indiana Jones-metroidvania with environmental puzzles and really cryptic hints. Maybe this time I will finally finish it, and not get stuck on the end game puzzles.

  10.  It certainly helps with enjoyment that all of the girls in Gargantia are ridiculously cute, though; something about the art style in that show really works for me, I guess. If I had to pick one (and of course I have to pick one), I'd definitely say Bellows, though; long red ponytail is basically all my favorite hair qualities at once.

The combination of natural blush and slightly tanned skin is almost illegally cute. Why isn't it used more often? So much wasted potential...

  11. I just watched Suisei no Gargantia and I enjoyed it a lot. I was kinda expecting ocean punk mecha action, and dark one at that, because I heard that Urobuchi was part of the production. Instead I got really good coming of a age story, which tackled all kinds of subjects, from immigration to social Darwinism. The characters were for the most part really good, even the mechas had awesome personalities.

It also has the cutest thing ever, Amy.

  12. I love good food, to the point of almost neglecting eating if I can't find anything good to eat. I also like cooking, but most of time I'm too lazy to cook properly. And I assume that others might have have the same problem.

So share your recipes. Everything goes, whether simple and complicated, for baking or cooking,  spread the joy of making food!

Feel free to share your cooking habits and experiences.

My cooking tends to be very ad-lib, I'll just use whatever I happen to find in the fridge. And these cooking habits gave birth to my go-to lunch:

    Turnip Sensei's Almost Legit Noodles

    1. First we prepare the sauce

    4 dl of water

    1-2 tbs soy sauce
    2 tsp of brown sugar
Meat broth (I have some instant stuff, but I have no idea if there is something like that in other places, just use something to bring a meaty flavor)

That's the base, but following ingredients can be added
    Garlic
    Pickled Ginger
    (Rice)Vinegar

Put everything in a small sauce pot, make it boil lightly and let it simmer. It will be ready by the time you are done with the other stuff.

    2. For something to go with the noodles, just fry whatever you feel like, or whatever happens to be in the fridge. I usually use either carrots, cabbage, beans, bell peppers or chicken. Cooking eggs is also good idea.

    3. For noodles, almost everything goes. Soba is good if you want to make it soup like. Just prepare the noodles according to instructions.

    4. After that you have few choices. You can either fry the noodles in the sauce or you can use it as soup stock. If you decide to fry your noodles, cook the noodles until almost done, dump them on the vegetables/meat you have prepared, pour the sauce and fry until most of the sauce has been absorbed.

If you want to use the sauce as a soup stock, just dump everything in a big bowl and enjoy.

it will not look as good (probably)
  13. Besides the hunting games I also got P4G (right after the purchase of the console), Akiba's Trip, Demon Gaze Global Edition, Ys: Memories of Celceta (haven't started yet) and Deception IV: Blood Ties.

O_o. You already have all the good games ;D

Thanks for the feedback, i'm more of a JRPG/Strategy game player...

For strategy there are Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre and Disgaia games. I've only played Tactics Ogre and Disgaia 4, so I can't say much the others. Disgaia is pretty wacky and it has bucket loads of content. Tactics Ogre on the other hand is more serious medieval fantasy with branching story. It has some weird systems such as there is no individual level for characters, but rather classes level up. It's still pretty fun.

For JRPGs you should check Atelier games. (Meruru, Totori, Rorona and Ayesha) They are partly alchemy (item crafting), partly light JRPG battling and mostly cutesy stuff. The alchemy part is surprisingly fun and the combat is not bad, though I hardly bother with it, the other parts were way more enjoyable to me. They are kind of coming of age stories with girl alchemists as protagonist. It's pretty lighthearted, but it's super cute and makes you feel warm and happy inside.

I have heard that Tales of Hearts R is pretty good, but I haven't played that yet myself, so I can't confirm that.

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines is also worth checking out. In Oreshika you have to manage a cursed clan, which members can only live for 2 years. You have to breed your clan members with various gods to get new characters and explore dungeons for a cure for the curse. I'm not really sure what to think of the game yet. It's fun to watch your family tree grow and see what kind of children will you get next. The combat and dungeon crawling is pretty good, but the game has some pacing issues. If you can't complete some story required dungeons in time you have to wait for an year for it show up again. And by that point your previous clan members are probably dead, so you better hope that your new members are as up to the challenge. Still it's not bad game, so might be worth trying.

  14. Turnip Sensei... any recommendations for Vita? :P

Oh man, Vita recommendations. Vita is my favorite platform after PC, mostly because of all the glorious JRPGs and alike. So yeah, I'll gladly recommend stuff.

We all here love VNs, so I must mention Danganronpa and Virtue's Last Reward. They are solid VNs with light gameplay elemements.

I don't know if it's counts as VN, but Corpse Party games are something I'm really fond of. I don't normally like horror games, but I enjoyed Corpse Party a lot. It's a horror adventure game with interesting story, really intimidating atmosphere and lots of gore. It's anime gore, but it's still pretty rough. I remember not being able to sleep properly for one night and it was also first time when I almost threw up because of a video game. They were originally released on psp, so it's not really a vita game, but if you happen to like horror you should give it a try.

    Okay proper games then, :D

Ys: Memories of Celceta is a really solid, party based and really fast paced action RPG. Just turn the volume up, difficulty to hard and dive in boots of Adol Christin & co for a awesome adventure full of epic boss battles and awesome music.

Muramasa: Rebirth and Dragon's Crown are both solid 2D action games from Vanillaware. They not only play well, but they are also absolutely gorgeous.

And no list is perfect without Persona 4 Golden. Though you should probably play Persona 3 Portable first, because it's kind of difficult to go back to P3P after being spoiled by P4G improvements. These 2 games are in my opinion the best JRPGs on vita. Prepare yourself for long ride though, first play through will clock around 70 hrs, but I assure it's worth the time. The games are combinations of VN-esque story segments, dating sim/ time management segments where you improve yourself and your bonds with your friends(Date hot girls) and pretty hard core dungeon crawling. Bonus points for fast paced and thrilling combat system, where you get extra turns for exploiting enemy weaknesses.

There's a few, but If you tell me what kinds of games you like, I can give more specific recommendations. So if anyone has any questions about vita games, I'm here to spread the vita love.
